I miss my grandma so much! She taught me how to cook. She was Sicilian so was my granfather. I am 65 now and I am sitting here crying like a baby! The only differece is my grandmother used "fixed" or another word seasoned breadcrumbs instead of flour and dipped in the egg first then breadcrumbs! Good times! Big family we had and she loved cooking for us. I love you so much Grandma Dolce. 😢😊

I stood by my Nonna's side in the kitchen from the time I was three years old. She taught me everything I know. It was amazing to watch her in the kitchen. She only had one arm she lost the other in an accident as a child and instead of letting it destroy her life she used it to make great meals for her family and Friends and blessed many people who are hungry or unfortunate. I have her name so I'm very proud to be her granddaughter. It was nothing short of miraculous how she was able to work in the kitchen she was very independent and very proud. My favorite dish was her pasta con piselli. There are some dishes that I did not get to learn to make from her such as her lentils and arancini .I just want to thank you for bringing us ( your viewers) into your home and for sharing your Love of Cooking with the world. Thank you! So many ways! First for the recipe, No one can understand why a Polish/American woman adores eggplant parmesan! I ask for it once a year and they think I'm nuts! Secondly, you remind me of how both my grandmothers cooked. By taste and touch. And I had no problem understanding you. I grew up with family who constantly struggled with English. And lastly, I worked in a nursing home and would talk to women (mostly Ethnic) about food. Old style cooking by a woman who grew up in Italy. There are as many sauce recipes and methods as there are Italian women :-D . Way back when no one paid attention to how much salt was used....they salted everything. Before she talked about her grandma singing I knew that's how she must have grown up - the women in the kitchen all cooking together and learning from the previous generation. So different than now - no one learns from their mother or grandmother which is a sad thing. I'd give anything just to have my grandmother's recipes let alone videos of how she did things.

What viewers don't understand is just how good Gina's English is. She certainly never had lessons and learned from life, a total immersion course. To do videos in English is very brave, not to mention generous. I immigrated to another country and after 33 years I can't speak this language as well as Gina. P.S. I love everything about Grandma. Especially, her sharing her memories and her singing. When you can cook without measuring, you REALLY know how to cook. I would love to hear her stories of how she created the ideas for her receipts. I know my ideas of receipts came from my great, great grandma and my mom. Sometimes I would cook exactly how they made it to bring back memories. And other times I would add my own ideas so i can create new memories with my daughters.

Thank you! So many ways! First for the recipe, No one can understand why a Polish/American woman adores eggplant parmesan! I ask for it once a year and they think I'm nuts! Secondly, you remind me of how both my grandmothers cooked. By taste and touch. And I had no problem understanding you. I grew up with family who constantly struggled with English. And lastly, I worked in a nursing home and would talk to women (mostly Ethnic) about food. You gave me joy thinking of all their faces light up when we talked about their special dinners or desserts they made. Don't stop. You inspire more people than you can imagine. 🌹🌹🌹

Old style cooking by a woman who grew up in Italy. There are as many sauce recipes and methods as there are Italian women :-D . Way back when no one paid attention to how much salt was used....they salted everything. Before she talked about her grandma singing I knew that's how she must have grown up - the women in the kitchen all cooking together and learning from the previous generation. So different than now - no one learns from their mother or grandmother which is a sad thing. I'd give anything just to have my grandmother's recipes let alone videos of how she did things.

What viewers don't understand is just how good Gina's English is. She certainly never had lessons and learned from life, a total immersion course. To do videos in English is very brave, not to mention generous. I immigrated to another country and after 33 years I can't speak this language as well as Gina. P.S. I am an English language teacher and Gina is a very fluent English speaker with very good pronunciation. Those who say they don't understand her need to go elsewhere. God bless you Nonna Gina! Grazi!

I love everything about Grandma. Especially, her sharing her memories and her singing. When you can cook without measuring, you REALLY know how to cook. I would love to hear her stories of how she created the ideas for her receipts. I know my ideas of receipts came from my great, great grandma and my mom. Sometimes I would cook exactly how they made it to bring back memories. And other times I would add my own ideas so i can create new memories with my daughters.

Hi Sandra, I to made the same comments to Grandma Gina! And my grandparents were from Sicily and Calabria and my parents were born here in the US. They have all passed on now and miss them terribly but was left with Mama's recipes that I cherish but no one to cook for as I'm an only child and divorced how ironic....
Love grandma, God bless her. My Sicilian family eliminates the soaking by peeling the eggplant but the results are the same. I just love hearing her talk. I miss the broken English of my grandma. Keep cooking and I'll keep watching. It makes me happy to hear her.
