It's actually a good game really fun to play on both casual and competitive settings. Some units are broken (barbatos especially) but those things can be patched with updates. My only real complaint is the random disconnects and getting punished for it.
Disconnects are rough for sure

Honestly, I always felt the problem with 2 cp was the maps. The 2 cp maps in OW were chokepoint fests followed by a brawl on the second point. 2 cp in Evo is more varied in where the fighting takes place I feel, You're not just crowding around a chokepoint that determines if you win the match or not. In Evo, it feels more like you're breaking down layers of map control from the defence, or taking those layers back as defence, a feeling I never had in OW. maybe this is my filthy casual mindset talking, but the problem with 2 cp isn't the game mode itself, but the map design and flow of the game. P.S. I haven't played OW in a while and barely touched ranked, but I have played a great deal of it. This opinion is coming from a complete casual.
I didn't expect this game to be great right out the box. Maybe that's why I'm very forgiving of some things. Honestly though, I feel it's too soon to be hung up on anything, to the point I'd condemn the game, until we get a patch and I doubt many got far enough to see what's after the beginner challenges so I feel it's too early to really judge everything on the monetisation side of things, at least when it comes to unlocking characters.
I think developer visualisation for characters and performance went different to how players ultimately handled them so character balance was obviously going to be a real mess out the gates and wont really show their results until after a few patches.
After saying all that, I think a lot of issues exist and a lot of players are valid in their criticism. Not many have my patience and will wait months for fixes to obvious issues that make people uncomfortable with playing it, and not many are willing to give it a second chance afterwards. The first impression can kill a game for a lot of people.
But at the very least I'll keep waiting and see how it pans out. At least until I find the next addicting game.
- Low-effort skins with terrible monetisation.
-Somewhat pay to win (due to the next point).
-Doesn't respect your time when it comes to unlocking characters f2p.
-Competitive mess in EU (my region).
-Balance issues making gameplay frustrating (Barb and melee units mostly... Sniper is also an issue)
-No real incentive to ranked other than flexxing. Ranked rewards are a joke.
I like the game a lot but I just find it difficult to go back to most of the time.
Barbatos sucks in High ranked play. He is only good in low skill play and being a noob stomper. I main him but I kind of feel Barby would kind of need a re-work to change the way he plays. Melee units are fine for the most part though Zaku M Ult is way WaY too strong. And Exia is just Exia being overturned overall.
Players hate it when their time isn’t respected
I don't personally relate to these complaints of not getting into a game. Casual queues go fast and like 1 in 10 matches I have a disconnect.

Overall nitpicks I have so far:
1. Shitty currency grind
2. Lack of cosmetics
3. Lack of earning currency
4. Sometimes the zaku 2 gun jams and wont fire for a while, has costed me a few lives.
5. Wish you could customise your own suit like in battle operations 2, leave skins to more og character suits that changed more..say adding stuff or so like for honor.
6. Lack of overlaying units, I want my 3 dom squad and or 6 team zakus.
7. Currency for suits being too high imo coupled with the abyssmal grind.
8. Its fucking region locked and thus already sawed off its foot.

I think Char's Zaku and the other "limited" one will go down in price when those loot boxes are in rotation. I think that's how it will work.

I'm glad some of the peeps here also feel the same about the game. The last straw I'm giving this game a chance is the next update they release along with the concerns that the players have commented on since their last update. Whether the audience agrees with my opinion or not, it's less enticing to play a game that does not have a player base and that's the current deal breaker for myself. I wish I had the mentality to grind ranked and not let other factors influence my performance, but I lose interest if I'm not playing with my friends and if the company is not making an active effort to address the many issues it has.
Don’t think you’re alone in this thought process
I despise Harbor and GM Sniper a lot. I'm not terribly good at evolution. I am not a good sniper. I just don't have good twitch reactions. So getting beamed repeatedly by Sniper is infuriating especially on a map like Harbor where flanking is incredibly difficult leaving counter sniping the only viable option.

One bug i got was with Doomtrooper, was fighting midway my laser just stopped shooting... just the sound no laser, it fixed after i died though kinda frustrating...
i get a bug with domtrooper where you cant shoot until you die after using his G maneuver it really stuffs me up sometimes

Strangely I seem to get killed by Guntank a lot, I understand why people hate Barbatos but I never have a problem with him. The actual problem is the match making is clearly trying to keep you at 50% by matching you with weak teams when you start to exceed 50% Overall it's not bad, I mean it's free right?

living in asia (Hong Kong), i've disconnected just once over the 500 games i've had. guess everyones mileage is different. ( i play on both japanese and asia server)

I still dont understand how they could miss the chance to advertise the game in contunction with the show I mean a portrait and some sprays come on. Why arent there, first more portraits and sprays from other major characters, why isnt at least Guels Dilanza a playable suit and why arent the voices of Suletta and Guel avialable in game? Bandai Namco has full controlle over this franchise as its Main investor they could have done so many thing but they decide to do literally the bare minimum that isnt even worth the effort.

Oh yeah I am with Arbatrose in that I haven't quit GunEvo just because GBO2 isn't out on PC yet.
I don't know if GBO2 is what you're looking for, looks like a gacha game. I don't know if you've ever played a gacha game, but if you are in the camp that thinks Gundam Evolution is pay-to-win and unbalanced, wait until you play a game where the pay-to-win and imbalance is a part of the game's core design.
@@Zakon673 lol I can stand gacha, in fact I don't really care about monetization on GunEvo. (other than the fact that Capital isn't earnable and P2W suits looks like a predatory practice if there's Season-to-Season powercreep. But that's all long-term.)
If I don't get DCs and leaver penalties that would already be a plus. And then if the F2P route is relatively balanced, and P2W is more about getting exactly what you want (which is how a gacha should be balanced), then that's fine with me.
@@afelias Gachas can't be balanced around the money giving you exactly what you want and the game being balanced otherwise, power creep is baked into the design. They have to keep making the next best thing for you to spend money to get, otherwise the monetization doesn't work. The only time gachas don't do that is if the gacha is only for cosmetics like in Overwatch 1.
Have you played/seen GBO2? The leaver and balance issues in that game are way worse imo. If you hate the CC in Evo then you shouldn't even look GBO2s direction, getting stun locked for 30 seconds straight sometimes. Also due to the long TTK in GBO2 leavers impact your match way more and it has an incredibly pay-to-win with a gacha system. it also doesn't help that the matchmaking GBO2 is dogshit, taking half an hour to get into matches if you party up with friends. I like GBO2 but EVO will have a more consistent casual appeal at the end of the day, and personally, as a gundam fan I've kinda forgotten about GBO2 because of Evo. No offence towards you wanting to play GBO2 over Evo, but if you dislike Evo because of CC, one-shots, leavers, and pay-to-win, I feel the need to tell you that GBO2 is no different and is even worse in those aspects.
If this game was balanced the way SDGO was balanced, nothing was really over the top at the start of the the game, everyone had big guns, big beams but no one would one shot you like sometimes it happens in this game. Every gundam had their melee and a couple skill options to play back against other players. I sincerely miss way harder SDGO than I would miss this game if it happens to disappear. NOW If people could fill EVERYONE WOULD BE HAPPY! There's no downsides to this since a 6v6 that suddenly becomes a 4/5v6 is not motivating enough on a game that gives nothing special to the people that are supporting the game.
Everyone forgets that OW is a TF2 clone.

my friends that played ow back then all of the sudden are playing gundam again because ow2 is the same shit basically almost nothing new.

Only been playing this game for a few days and found many bugs,example is when u switch out a mobile suits the skill that mobile suits have is different like barbatos can shoot or place mine on field,then when u click really fast when shooting sometimes the animation gliching and make u cant shoot,then the last bug i found when get to port map sometimes when u fall to the ice u didnt die and still can walk around.hope the dev fix that bugs asap
The only thing I dislike is no one uses there mics.
I think they might be waiting to advertise it until they can iron out some issues, I've seen other games take that approach as well.

im a gundam people... i build plastic models and play gundam games.... i also play apex legends and valorant.... i bought the battlepass and some stuff.. asia server is full of cheaters and i know its not going away... good thing you can change servers.. leveling up here doesnt give any reward like cosmetics and lootbox or currency..... leveling pass level 20 is meaningless.... its just a number.. lol i guess ill play gundam battle operations 2 when it hits pc
Though while I hate having to pay for units at least you can get 2 of them for free via free BP and those challenges. While in OW2 it’s gonna take you months to get a legendary skin for free. Man I want this game to get better I’m on console so I haven’t even played it yet
For me Overwatch didn't fix their mistake...even give battle pass still have missing in overwatch.
To be honest, I feel like this game doesn't have long term sustainability and will eventually be shut down like the game Lawbreakers. The Highest Player count on Steam was 20k and now it averages 5k-10k. Mind you it's only Steam stats but adding console players, it probably isn't that high and eventually they'll probably give up and just focus on Battle Operations 2

Because of the gundam branding I feel like this isn't much of a problem, inherently.
It's less niche because it's heavily based on Overwatch.
The game is also accessible and free to play.
I doubt it will ever fully die unless the bugs only get worse or they pull a Halo Infinite with absolutely no seasonal updates. (for 6 months at a time)

I have a lot of faith in the devs to fix the issues just on how much they are clearly trying to listen to their community of players when the post on the website. It gives me fairly high hopes for positive changes.
The devs have seemed genuine, but how much bureaucracy do they have to fight through?

one issue I've thought about is THE SEASON PASS IS POINTLESS IF YOU LIVE ANYWHERE IN EUROPE! what is the point of getting the season pass and unlocking stuff if you can't go into ranked with what everyone else has?

My take on the monetization is that buying individual characters is not an issue. Each character is like 10$ which is how much one would pay for a DLC character in a fighting game. So it's not that bad, especially if you just start out and/or not interested in all of the suits. Where the monetization becomes really bad is if you're trying to get cosmetics, which aren't that good (aside from a few) to begin with. So my advice is that if someone is going to spend money on the game to focus on buying characters rather than cosmetics or the Battle Pass.
well battle pass give your 990 coins back so just pay once and keep the coins for free battle pass

Ngl, players are leaving pretty quickly. I'm finding myself trying ow2 too. Even tho ow1 only had my attention for an hour before I uninstalled.
Gonna see how it goes, so far only did the tutorial of ow2. Gonna try some games tmr.

Seb the Pleb with another educated opinion. Seb can't believe a western Gundam release from Bandai isn't pulling the same numbers as industry leading publishers because Seb is a Pleb.

I think the reason for melee suits causing massive damage is because it reflects the franchise. Most of the time the Gundam and other suits take out an enemy in one hit with melee weapons. Sure that's also the case when using ranged but when it's a one on one fight in the anime, it tends to end with close range combat. Am I defensing this OP method in game? No. Just picking at straws to find an explanation.
Doesn’t melee character usually have high damage because they usually have poor or no range option at all?
@@ilnumero1234 Exia and Zaku Melee have range attacks. Zaku Melee's axe swings fire beam slashes, Exia has throwable daggers. But also one of Exia's melee attacks dashes it across towards a target, so might as well be ranged.
@@neonnwave1 Yeah but zaku melee does ass for damage unless you feed his rage. His ults the only thing broke on him.
@@neonnwave1 bruh,zaku melee ranged slash only does 85 damage per slash and have also ass range,the zaku 2 ranged can 1 clip any mobile suit with 1000 hp. How many second do you need to kill someone with only ranged atk?

I'm fucking done with this shit game. I've gone on my rants already, I'm just waiting for console so they can get their mess cleaned up. I wish there were more casual playing Gundam games cuz this is just way too sweaty. I hated overwatch, don't make me hate gundam games cuz of this. (To the developers not this channel). I want to love it, I'm good at games, but I've lost so many where I should've won, it's no longer rewarding. I want to play to keep playing, not to throw my damn pc down a staircase
