Mail from a German engineer // Dear Michael, I am from Germany and I am a mechanical engineer as well as a master vehicle technology engineer. I love your channel!!! Actually I am not a TH-cam person at all :) but I look forward to every new broadcast from you. I always find your positive nature, your determination as well as your excellent expertise motivating and fascinating. I have rarely seen such professional work from a garage! Some of your videos I have watched umpteen times :) Here's an idea: I work a lot myself on quads, motorcycles and the like, preferably on two-stroke engines. Now I have started a new project some time ago: a YAMAHA RAIDER jet ski. Super exciting technology. Very similar to quads but so different and also a two-stroke engine. Hallo! What an awesome compliment to receive. Thank you for taking the time to write this and for the idea on a jet ski! This made my day. Greetings from the USA!
You have inspired me to purchase and build a 250r and blaster. It’s expensive but the fun and experience of the builds outweigh the cost. Your videos have been instrumental in my progress. Thank you!

Your web site is just as impressive as your bike builds. At 6 foot tall I don't fit well on a blaster and 215 pounds isn't very optimal. The blaster is just so much fun that I'll take one for a spin any time I can.
Thank you Dax! You could have fun on it but not for long rides I'm sure. One of the guys in my Top Quad series is 6'5", it's going to be funny to see him on it lol.

I have to agree with your assessment at the end regarding how long it takes to do certain things. I took Auto Body class in my last years of high school in the late 90's early 2000's. I can say that even though I never got to work in a body shop professionally like I hoped for that the average customer wanting their car paint freshened up or redone completely have absolutely no clue what goes in to doing paint CORRECTLY. Especially if they're wanting paint that glistens like a show car and expecting to get it for nothing. My Auto instructor was awesome. He was old school and believed the books the state tried making us learn from were useless. For him it was hands-on or nothing. Because there's only so much you can read in a book and get the idea of what to do. In order to get good you had to actually do it. Before we even got to touch a spray gun we had to learn panel prep which involved sanding, pounding out small dents, using body filler scarcely and using your eyes to examine things closely. He gave us old fenders and hoods to practice on. It would take us hours just sanding the panels to bare metal, pounding out dents, doing body filler if needed and sanding it uniform before we could even think about spraying on a primer coat. For me the way the instructor taught was great because I'm not fast and will never make myself fast for anyone. I want the job done properly the first time. But it also has its' drawbacks as there's a lot of things I want to do that I never get around to doing. Because for me if I can't do the job correctly I would rather not do it at all than do it half assed. Sadly in order to do things correctly it requires a lot of money and a place to do it which I have neither of. :P But I've been slowly gathering tools here and there as I'd really like to get back into painting. A good enough air compressor that can run a spray gun is the most expensive thing to get IMO. Plus it needs a safe place to go as well and I don't have a garage. A cheap enclosed car port should work for starters. :)
What else can be said man but wow another beautiful build. You really have a great eye for how the end product turns out. Quite impressive. It sounds amazing too. Looking forward to top quad. 💪🏻💪🏻
Mike, she sounded good, my friend, I have a blaster myself, and they rip also they are a blast to ride. As far as the total cost, if you exclude your labor, you basically have a brand new quad for 6 grand or so. I dont know what they cost brand new nowadays, but that doesn't sound too bad to me because you have performance parts, plus it has a unique design, which is sweet. So all in all I think you're doing alright. Keep up the good work, and I can't wait for the competition and to see what's in store for the next project.
Thank you man! The new TRX250X from Honda is probably the closest thing available anymore - they're $5300 MSRP. Probably close to 6k after taxes and fees. This Blaster is definitely a faster unit though, I can guarantee!
To answer the question at the end of the video about the cost of labor, I would say around 14-15 thousand to replicate what you did. I worked at a Honda powerhouse and when jobs like this came up they charged a very pretty penny. But sometimes you take a loss because we can’t factor in somethings that get in the away such as a stripped bolt or a bearing that’s stuck, love the video I’ll be back for more
I miss the old 90s blaster days back when I was 14,15...and even if you're an adult under 200 and put an extended swingarm, wheel spacers, and pipe/silencer combo you can have fun all day long and keep up with practically anything in the woods.
I have a blaster had it torn apart in pieces for over a year and your videos inspired me to get my quad done built just did my first real ride on mine yesterday
I bought a 2000 Blaster when my son decided to race 50s and 65s so I could ride with him. Even being over 200lbs I raced this quad and had a great at time doing it!.With the 250 kit and suspension upgrades I can't wait to see what you can do with it
I really love the breakdown list of the parts on the builds. You have to build a 1988-1992 Suzuki lt250r. Some of us guys needs parts that can't be sourced anymore. I really believe if you would build one some of these guys may start making parts again. Please do a quadracer build. You have already built a quadzilla, a honda 250r, and a banshee. Wish you would finish out the 2 stroke quads. I'm sure people would love to see a tecate built and I know I want to see you build a quadracer. Thanks for the videos man.
Got a brand new 96 Blaster for Christmas of 95 and that is hands down one of my all time favorite quads. Simple Cheap and fast enough to hurt you lol Great Build Keep it up👌💪
Owned a blaster in the late 90s and raced multiple stock and modified banshee. I always stayed with them or even pulled in a short run! Long distance the banshee would pull away. All in all the blaster is a quick little quad!
Great videos mike I love love when you do the sabo spreadsheet I always look forward to them when you get done with the project. It’s such a clean blaster. Probably the nicest blaster in the United States..
Im a ATV and dirtbike mechanic in Mexico, Labor is so cheap down here, that in just labor i'd estimate around 500-700 USD sometimes depending on the shop they may charge double the amount but im talking about rally big shops. And that is a lot of money for us, because the cost of living is just cheaper too
Good video. Hard to put a price on your time. I bought a foxbody for $1500, put $10k and a couple hundred hours in it. Then sold it for $9500. Its all for the love of the game.
Micheal, I built a 04 Blaster all stock but.... VForce 4 reeds and total night and day difference. So damn snappy and the power is a world of difference even with my stock pipe. I watched and listened to the quad you rode and yup, have to get the VForce 4. It will totally wake that thing up like a mini banshee. Trust me on this. I did all the deltes like you did too btw.
I've had bunch of these blasters, they are fun if you run a smaller tires on the back they wheelie really easy,it looked like you was having alot fun and that's what's its about,I give ya 5 ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ sweet blaster
This was a blast to watch. Your quality keeps getting better and better each video and you've made some pretty spectacular machines. Thanks for another great video bro.
I'm doing a complete rebuild on my 06 blaster for my 5 year old son def not gna be done in the time u did but a few months hopefully, just gna be on a budget for the build. The Chinese to end won't bother me cause kids aren't gna be rippin to hard at 5yr old, I will a lil bit but gna be for him. Let us no the money u had to put into it to get to this point. U did an amazing job, love the blasters, just a fun lil quad
Awesome build! Looks great, trying to remember but if you use the Vito's 240 big bore kit I believe don't use the base gasket because it's too thick, or thin and it actually takes the piston out of the top of the power band. Use the stock one, have to look it up. But I know it makes a difference
@@Taboloncawonthemasters the gasket that Vito sends with the kit, elongates the duration of the port and takes its out of the peak performance. Use the oem, don't take my word for it, you can even check out herr jugs racing on TH-cam blaster porting.... old video....
It would help for sure! I went riding in some deep stuff after this video; 12-15 inches of water and the filter did get wet. I will make figure something out!
Good looking lil bike, your builds are always on point. I’ve had a few of these bikes in the past . One that’s fully built is still very entertaining for an adult.
I love watching these videos. I understand your dilemma with the cost of labor with the blaster. However, obviously you would never get your money back if you paid any shop to do the work. For me personally, if I had a machine and the money to build it better, I would want to do the work myself. (Whatever I am capable of). It would be a great learning experience, save a ton of cash, and a sense of satisfaction when completed. Great videos sir!!
I love your videos man. I have an 04 blaster and it means the world to see someone like you building and riding one. Keep up the good work praise from the UK 🤙
MIKE!!!!! I have a 100% OEM stock banshee and a blaster can’t take ittt MICHAELLLLL take that back right nowwwww! Put me in the top quad I’m coming out there!! With my wildcat hoodie on!!!
Sweet job on the execution of this one bro. I love my blaster I actually favor it over my Ltr for trail weekends and for the simple fact i can pick it up from a dead stop and keep the front up all the way to 6th gear. Such a fun machine.
I’m loving this build I have a 04 blaster and can’t say enough about how fun it is to rip. Mine does make the same knocking slapping noise wasn’t sure if it was the rod bearing going bad or is that a normal sound you can hear it at 6:45 in this video. Anyway your videos are top notch!!!🔥🔥🤘🤘
That specific spot of the video, the zinging sound I'm assuming you're referring to after I come off of full throttle? When coming off of a high RPM run, and coming almost completely off the gas but not pulling in the clutch, you are back loading the engine as its still spinning at high RPMs from the wheels pushing it over but it is only receiving a small amount of fuel causing a lean spot which causes those zing sounds on the come down; it is not detonation.
I love Blasters. I'm going to check out a place up north Michigan to check some frames. Can't wait to build some rippers that people will love to ride.
I luv the blasters I have mine on my channel I built it similar to urs with the same jetting I’m only 135 pounds so I move on mine you seem like ur having a Blast on urs great build Mike 👍🏽
That's amazing you said it's not that good of suspension my 13-year-old son wanted a quad and I found this one so we can work on it together but it looks daunting looking at it it might take years to build because I can't afford it but he's looking forward to it and so am I
For the love of god, give that Blaster a proper 20cc head re-cut, 28-32mm Powerjet carb and some basic porting. Excellent way to show what Yamaha left on the table. there's a reliable 10 -15hp still left in there for very little money. Run KFX 450 shocks with the Diamond J brackets and it's Winner winner chicken diner!!
Honda 400ex shock in the back and Banshee shocks in the front are the best swaps for the blaster. The 400ex isn't a direct swap but all you need is some spacers and a new bolt. The Banshee shocks are a direct swap.
@@whiffedwhenitmattered the stock Blaster and Banshee shocks are both glorified pogo sticks. I run 450ER front shocks and a rear 450ER Elka with remote reservoir on my Blaster and they are leaps and bounds above Banshee shocks. No contest...
Next you'll have to do a big bore kit. CT racing makes a 240 kit for them--at least they used to. That much power for such a small machine would be a blast.
What an awesome build you did, it looks and sounds unreal. Love the full commitment through the whoops, you’re a wild man. I myself might have pulled the chicken stick but you held her tapped😂 Awesome!
I think if you disassemble the entire Blaster, get all the parts ordered up, and powder-coat the frame (and anything else) yourself before handing it over to any garage, (I think) the labour cost will be way less. I'm not saying that's the case, 100% sure. But I think it would be. If you have them order the parts and wait for them to come in and be unpacked, etc. that's all labour cost as well. Also, if a Blaster would be sold like this at the Yamaha dealer, the retail price would probably be near double as well. Face it, it are all upgraded parts...
I loved my blaster when I was 14. It was my first bike. Did a bunch of mods myself and it was quick for what it was but I outgrew it quick. Having to go wide open in third to get up small dunes wasn't fun lol
Who else has had good luck with Chinese Top End kits? What about bad? Thank you for watching 🤘😎
Do you live in PA?
If so where do you ride?
i got one and it ran better than ever just luck of the draw lol

I don’t think I’ve ever been this early to a video! This makes me want a banshee or blaster to rip, that 2 stroke sound is too good!
I bought a 2000 Blaster when my son decided to race 50s and 65s so I could ride with him. Even being over 200lbs I raced this quad and had a great at time doing it!.With the 250 kit and suspension upgrades I can't wait to see what you can do with it
That's awesome to hear Don! Mods coming soon!
Nothing better than a Michael sabo video to finish the weekend
Nice build bro got to love a blaster. Next you should build the motor and see how much power you can get out of it.
Man I thought you were goin over the bars at 12:30. Sick build bud.
Simple Cheap and fast enough to hurt you lol Great Build Keep it up👌💪
Hell yea man, thank you!
This build makes me want another blaster.. definitely not a good idea they only last me 2 hours but I’m on the hunt now😂
Blasters are one of the best bangs for your buck for plain old fun! Early 2000s they sold new for about 3k
I remember when they were still on showroom floors; I think they were like $3399 or something.
Wow, huge compliment man! Thank you as always 🤘
I sais this after work lastnight now this before work with my coffee 👌💯 my mannnnn
Im a ATV and dirtbike mechanic in Mexico, Labor is so cheap down here, that in just labor i'd estimate around 500-700 USD sometimes depending on the shop they may charge double the amount but im talking about rally big shops. And that is a lot of money for us, because the cost of living is just cheaper too
This is really interesting feedback to hear; it always blows my mind to hear the difference in expenses around the world - thank you!
You did an awesome job with this Blaster series. You rode it hard and it rips. Thanks!
I love me some Blaster ! I know this is set up for Top Quad, but a wide axle and some engine mods and you have one heck of a riding machine.
Coming soon man! I have some mods planned for it.
@@MichaelSabo Can't wait brother ! Keep up the hard work !
Really cool to hear this feedback! I wanted to do VForce so badly this first time around. I plan to upgrade the reeds with the 240 kit!
I've had bunch of these blasters, they are fun if you run a smaller tires on the back they wheelie really easy,it looked like you was having alot fun and that's what's its about,I give ya 5 ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ sweet blaster
100% Bobby, this is one fun machine!
This was a blast to watch. Your quality keeps getting better and better each video and you've made some pretty spectacular machines. Thanks for another great video bro.
Nice work man. That price breakdown was eye opening!
Thank you Ryan!
I've learned a lot from your videos. You inspired me to work on my LT250r. I hope you build an LT250r next 👍. Thanks!
I think that this bike should win the race but most full size 200lb 5 foot 10 plus adults would probably prefer the 300ex. Good job 👍
Thank you man; it's going to be a good one for sure!
great build dude , looks good sounds good and she rips
Thank you brotha!
@@MichaelSabo do you still have your 250r ?
@@867diesel yes
@@MichaelSabo good !! im rebuilding mine from my crash in 2021 still but im planning on the return for our LACC buddy race this summer
I’m definitely building one of these and thanks to this series I know I can.
Thats gotta be the nicest blaster i've seen so far, well done!!
Awesome build! Looks great, trying to remember but if you use the Vito's 240 big bore kit I believe don't use the base gasket because it's too thick, or thin and it actually takes the piston out of the top of the power band. Use the stock one, have to look it up. But I know it makes a difference
Thank you for the info on this; I will hopefully get to the bottom of this and see how my kit comes.
So what’s the verdict with this? True?
@@Taboloncawonthemasters the gasket that Vito sends with the kit, elongates the duration of the port and takes its out of the peak performance. Use the oem, don't take my word for it, you can even check out herr jugs racing on TH-cam blaster porting.... old video....
Man that power core silencer sounds so good! ❤️❤️❤️
Mike ur vids just keep getting better n better. keep it up. by far my Fav offroad channel and really overall.
Micheal, how about an outwears lid? It keeps water away and allows airflow.
It would help for sure! I went riding in some deep stuff after this video; 12-15 inches of water and the filter did get wet. I will make figure something out!
Awesome video. You really do go above and beyond. I enjoy watching all of your work.
Thank you for watching my videos Nic!
I agree with you Steve; I think many of us in the world of DIY and go fast machines feel the same!
I love your videos man. I have an 04 blaster and it means the world to see someone like you building and riding one. Keep up the good work praise from the UK 🤙
Also what go pro mount are you running I’m trying to find a good one.
Thank you man; these are no doubt fun machines
My first quad was a 300ex when I was 12 then went to stock 400ex and now all done up. To now a yfz450 and love it
I’m loving this build I have a 04 blaster and can’t say enough about how fun it is to rip. Mine does make the same knocking slapping noise wasn’t sure if it was the rod bearing going bad or is that a normal sound you can hear it at 6:45 in this video.
Anyway your videos are top notch!!!🔥🔥🤘🤘
Sound is at 6:43 it always makes me cringe when I hear it. Any info on it would be great
That specific spot of the video, the zinging sound I'm assuming you're referring to after I come off of full throttle? When coming off of a high RPM run, and coming almost completely off the gas but not pulling in the clutch, you are back loading the engine as its still spinning at high RPMs from the wheels pushing it over but it is only receiving a small amount of fuel causing a lean spot which causes those zing sounds on the come down; it is not detonation.
That blaster freaking rips Mike! I'd love to swing a leg over something like that! Awesome Build man, keep up the good work!
this build is no diffrent than a custom bike its going to cost money love it man keep it up
I’m just as much impressed with the website as I am with the builds🔥
I love Blasters. I'm going to check out a place up north Michigan to check some frames. Can't wait to build some rippers that people will love to ride.
I luv the blasters I have mine on my channel I built it similar to urs with the same jetting I’m only 135 pounds so I move on mine you seem like ur having a Blast on urs great build Mike 👍🏽
The dyno ad, his goggles being upside down had me dying. lmao!
Blaster rips man!.. Now I don't feel bad about rebuilding my quad! 🤑
That's amazing you said it's not that good of suspension my 13-year-old son wanted a quad and I found this one so we can work on it together but it looks daunting looking at it it might take years to build because I can't afford it but he's looking forward to it and so am I
That thing really rips. It has a great sound when you keep it in the power band. I think you have her dialed.
my 1st spots quad was a 02 black and white blaster was my favourite bike of all time i want another one some day
Very impressive build for modified stock. Should be a great Top Quad battle.
All your videos are great! I clicked thumbs up before I even watch them lol
Amzoil dominator runs fucking fantastic in my bike had tones of fouling issues before I switched it runs so much better it got way snappier
No way I was riding at this exact spot today for a little while and live in jackson! I hope I get to see you one day since you ride around here!
It's a great spot! I'm out there from time to time
For the love of god, give that Blaster a proper 20cc head re-cut, 28-32mm Powerjet carb and some basic porting.
No contest...
nice bike man. with the suspension sucking make the suspension softer by moving it a click down
Next you'll have to do a big bore kit. CT racing makes a 240 kit for them--at least they used to. That much power for such a small machine would be a blast.
If I'm not mistaken duncan also does one
Only big bore cylinders left are the vitos 240 kit and the airsal 240 or if you want to sleeve an oem cylinder you can go with the L.A Sleeve 240.
Can't wait to see what u do with the yamaha trike....if it's anything like this blaster turned out its gonna be sick
I swear blasters have doubled in price on marketplace because of this build
My bad
Man that thing rips pretty damn good. Going to be building my 1996 styled blaster here soon. Can't wait for the future videos.
What an awesome build you did, it looks and sounds unreal. Love the full commitment through the whoops, you’re a wild man. I myself might have pulled the chicken stick but you held her tapped😂 Awesome!
Beautiful ride man, that pipe makes all the difference. Sounds crisp
Another great build and great video brother! Your videos are top notch, keep them coming!
Thank you Rich!
Blasters are awesome. There small cc’s but high fun factor. They sound good too!!
