Li Yugang - China's cultural treasure - in this video he is more than 40 years old, a female impersonator in Chinese traditional opera. Two different "schools" of voice emission, but it sounds so exceptionally good together 🤩

In Drunken Concubine Dimash and Li Yu Gang,
They present us by way of dialogue, the tragic love story between a famous Concubine (represented by Li Yu Gang) of the Chinese imperial court and the emperor (represented by Dimash) for that reason the two thrones in the
stage. In the story (not in the video) The Concubine dies poisoned as a result of the intrigues of enemies in the imperial court. In the presentation, the song is divided into two parts alternating with Diva Dance. to finally retake Drunken Concubine listening to the sad song of the Concubine and the emperor. Hi, QoFy, and thank you. Your Dimash reactions are always wonderful. A chrysanthemum is a type of flower, maybe called a "mum" in GB? Li Yugang is a well-known star of the Chinese National Opera. He's famous for a type of traditional Peking opera role called "nan dan", where the men train for years to portray the female roles, mimicking the gestures and facial expressions, as well as the soprano voice. I was shocked at how well traditional Peking opera blended with Dimash's Turkic ethnic fusion, especially in the duet part. We just never know what to expect from Dimash...so much fun! 😁

Song tells the tragic love story of how Emperor Tang Xuanzong of the Tang dynasty was forced by his generals and officials to execute his beloved Noble Consort Yang with poisoned wine at 'Ma Wei Hill'. They threatened to defect if he did not. In order to help preserve the Emperor's throne, Consort Yang drank the poison willingly.
The last four verses translates to:
The Chrysanthemum Pavilion reflects the moon
Who knows my heart is withered in my chest
As I lay drunk (dying) in my lord's arms
And dream of love in ancient times

Lee Yugang is famous in the Peking Opera and sings traditional female roles, This is a story of the Emperor (Dimash) sentencing the concubine (Lee Yugang) to death. She reminds him of the great time that they had drinking, and he wishes that they could have one more time of drunkeness together! This is woven into the 'Diva Dance' song. The melding of their voices is fantastic! Thank you.

Someone may have told you in the comments, but Li sings female parts with the China National Opera. I really love the mashup at the end of the different cultural styles-Chinese Opera, Eastern music, and Western pop/opera.
And yeah, a chrysanthemum (the word as a rep for being one of the harder words in English to spell) is a flower you see all the time in bouquets and arrangements.

Thank you for reacting to my favourite Dimash duet! Li Yugang is 41 and a very popular Opera singer in China who became renowned for playing the female roles in Opera due to a time when females were not allowed to perform on stage. He has continued ever since and is an amazing counterpart for Dimash in this stunning duet. Thank you again - I enjoyed your positive reaction to a culturally different sound than we are used to in the Western part of the world. Beautiful music is everywhere - and everywhere it touches us and uplifts us and heals us, IMHO.

Another awesome reaction. I've even gone back to watch your reactions from way back when which are also really fun to watch. Your personality translates really well into these vids and they always make me smile, so thank you for that.
Mistaking Li Yugang for a woman by his voice is probably quite the compliment in all fairness. He's trained to sing Female roles in Chinese Opera.
Re another comment further down about China not allowing female performers at one point, neither did the UK until the 1660s for acting.
That's why there are modern day comedic sketches of women roles in Shakespeare being played by men in some of the comedy films made by like the "Carry on" team or the Python lot etc.
Also of course there are the examples of Castrati, they were created as women were banned from Church choirs in the 1600s in parts of Europe . So some monsters decided instead of just stopping the ban or just having tenor male singers or even countertenors they would instead mutilate pre teen boys to prevent them ever reaching full puberty and to give them high crystal like voices to replace the women that would've sung those parts except for the ban.
The last Castrati performance in London was the 1840s so it was going on for centuries.
If you want to hear what a natural version of that sounds like (as in someone with a hormone issue whose puberty was interrupted due to an unfortunate genetic difficulty) then take a listen to this singer, Radu Marian. I'll find you a link, interesting sounding voice.
You'll be able to hear the difference between countertenors like Mitch Grassi (Pentatonix) and Li Yugang vs what a woman's voice sounds like vs what Radu Marian's voice sounds like. It's fascinating:
    th-cam.com/video/ZYKEqsxDnV8/w-d-xo.html
(Probably not one to do a reaction to btw, it was just something random I found years ago when I was first watching Dimash and there were convos about what tenors vs countertenors vs histories true Castrati sounded like vs Radu Marian (hormone affected voice etc)
Another enjoyable reaction, look forward to your next lot of vids.
