Li YuGang is a Chinese opera singer and most of his performance is representative of Chinese opera (what they call opera). Chinese opera is typically male singers singing in a female register and even dressed as females while performing.

actually Li specializes in nandan which is the style where male singers take on the female soprano role. they study for years, not just voice but also movement. Chinese opera, like most opera, has both parts

Diva Dance is from the movie 'The Fifth Element' sung by an alien (directors didn't feel that a human could sing it so part of it was computerized). The two of them did an excellent job.
In 'Drunken Concubine', Demash plays the rough Emperor while Li plays the Concubine. He is sentencing her to death.

Li is a traditional Chinese singer and he is extremely talented. The harmonizing of the two voices is superb. My Gentle Giant Dimash. Greetings from South Africa. 💖💗💞💓

Thank you for your words. I don't think Dimash does anything gimmicky!! He must have respect and praise for anyone he sings with just my opinion.
I think both are beautiful. I don't know much about 🎵🎶 or many cultures, but I could tell, just by looking + 🎶 🎵 was traditional & Authentic.
I loved the duet. Happiness be well.

NO competition, the Diva Dance is originally a computer generated song Dimas is only one able to do it. The 5th Element movie .

This duet of masters of their crafts is spine tingling and totally fantastic.
This is a coming together of opersites. Dimash, his singing style and as he is dressed, represent the Western modern way. Li in the Eastern traditional dress and musical style (women did not act in chinese opera traditionally, so men acted in their stead. Dimash represents the emperor and Li is his favourite Concubine. The Concubine has an arrangement to meet the emperor to get drunk together. However, he does not show up and instead has her sentenced to death. I can't remember why exactly though.
This, and some of his other duets are among Dimashs greatest works. IMHO 👍
    💞🦌

Thank you. Li YuGang is a famous Peking Opera singer who sings female roles (traditional) The Drunken Concubine story is this: Dimash plays the Emperor and Li YuGang the concubine. She is before the Emperor accused of treason. She reminds him of the wonderful time that they had when they were both drunk. The Emperor says that he wishes that they could have one more time like that, but she is to be put to death for treason. This is an amazing duet and combination of the 2 songs and singing styles.

OOOO, how I was waiting for your reaction to Dimash! After all, thanks to you, only I discovered the world of Dimash by watching your first reaction to the song SOS in 2020. I was so amazed by Dimash and even more by your reaction to him! Thank you very much! Do me the honor to make a new reaction to our Dimash for the video The story of one sky. I have no doubt that you will be captivated by what you see and hear. I personally have never seen or heard anything like it in the world of music.

Li Yugang is a Chinese opera singer that mainly sings the role of a female... has his own distinguished style and he managed to hold himself so well next to Dimash.. his style is so regal and elegant...
Love the oriental vibe.. must read the subtitles.. cos its a tragic love song between a king and his favourite concubine.. The concubine was sentenced to death by the King. You can hear it from the growl that Dimash gave.
Dimash is playing the role of the King and Li is playing the role of the concubine.. In the ancient China, the King will always hold the dominant role which was portrayed so well by Dimash in his singing style, while a concubine should remained demure and gentle in the presence of the king, also portrayed very beautifully by Li in this aspect. They sang and played these roles so so well in this performance... 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Some singers might loose their style or get overshadowed by Dimash while performing.. but here.. it looked so much more of them complementing each other's style of singing.. really awesome to watch.. ❤️
This is one of the best collab Dimash has done with another singer... ❤❤

glad you reacted to this, it's one of my favorites and is usually overlooked. please check out some of Li Yugang's performances, just for your own enjoyment. you may not necessarily care for the singing but he is absolutely breathtaking. one of the reasons Dimash was asked to perform with Li was to show the differences between Chinese opera and Western opera but that they can be beautifully blended while keeping their own characteristics

Li Yugang is a famous Chinese Opera singer. They are both incredibly well trained but have two different styles. Dimash was trained with the full round open mouth when singing. Li Yugang was trained where your mouth position stays straight. Also, Chinese Opera typically has male singers performing the female roles and singing the female parts.

    I just discovered your channel.
Drunken Concubine+Diva Dance was performed in the Shanghai Spring Festival Gala in China. Dimash sings with a great Chinese Opera singer who usually plays a female in classic Peking opera Li Yugang. That’s why he is trained to sing so high. This nasal singing is traditional and he is a very famous singer in China. The two harmonize so well together. It’s really fantastic. I love it.
Diva Dance was written by Eric Serra for the movie The 5th Element with Bruce Willis. I don’t know if you know the movie.
This song was written for an alien opera singer and was not considered singable for a human voice. Parts of it were computer generated.
Please react to the Diva Dance from his Bastau concert. He performed this song on his first solo concert in Kazakhstan called Bastau in 2017. It was after he finished The Singer competition. It’s a short one but mind-blowing. What fascinates me the most is, that he sang this song in his concert where he had already been on stage for almost 2 hours. Just unbelievabel🤯

I don’t know if you already reacted to Stranger, because I couldn’t find a playlist. If not, you really have to check out. It’s awesome. But be careful, it gets blocked a lot.

Interesting you said "is this a competition". I find that the most incredible vocals such as this are just that .. designed to show the range and compete , in a way. Because as you say, is this a ginmmick ... one must ask ones self am I going to put this on my playlist or car radio to listen to it for enjoyment ? .. and the answer is "no way", its impressive, and might be inspirational to listen to as a singer, but as music ? Nup.

The other guy is a Chinese opera singer (that’s how their opera sounds) It takes some getting used to 🤣. That whistle note Dimash hit isn’t his highest. You can hear him hit a D8 at the end of “Unforgettable Day” at Gakku. It has to be that specific performance.

Love this performance!!! Drunken Concubine in dialogue the tragic story between a famous concubine of the Chinese imperial court, Li Yugang in that role, and the emperor, Dimash’s rol that’s why the throne at stage. At the end of the story the concubine is poisoned as a result of court intrigues. Li Yugang is a famous artist considered China’s National Treasure and he is a nan dan singer (male playing female roles) art forms from Peking Opera, giving the traditional art a modern edge. The way he moves (knees bent together and those "meows" have a special meaning in the traditional opera). What is most amazing about Li is that he couldn’t study in the university or conservatory of music, he is absolutely autodidact which is so admirable!! 👌👍💥 ❤️🎤🔝 One of the things a I love the most of Dimash is his versatility and his ability to show us different cultures through the music. In this case with Li Yugang, they have made a perfect match with the traditional Peking Opera style, beautiful 🌟

Please be mindful of your words when reacting to videos from other countries. Peking opera (what Li YuGang sings), was started in 1790 in Beijing, for the eightieth birthday of the Qianlong Emperor on 25 September. It was originally staged for the royal court and only made available to the public later.
