- I can’t wait to see what new adventures the Imagineers have created for us in this treehouse when it reopens November 10th 🙌
The original Swiss Family Robinson treehouse in Disneyland was modeled after the roots of the Moreton Bay Fig Tree from the 1800s. While the one in Disneyland is called the Disneyodendron Semperflorens Grandis (large ever-blooming Disney tree), the Disney World version is called Disneyodendron Eximus (or “out of the ordinary Disney tree”)
I love how Disney knew that even as adults, we still love a good treehouse 🌳that it’s not somethung you outgrow, even if you climb it a little slower as the years go by. There’s something so whimsical in them that brings out your inner child 🥰and I love that the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse which opened in 1962 was the culmination of a dream for Walt Disney to have something he had wanted his whole life, but never got until he was an adult. He said, “When I was a youngster, treehouse is fascinated me. I suppose they do all youngsters. I built things in the backyard. I organize the kids of the neighborhood to build a treehouse. Now I’ve got just the one I wanted.”

Swiss Family Robinson was one of my favorite movies. I haven't seen it in a long time
It’s a wonderful movie 🥰
Me too, when i visited disneyworld we climb this three and 1 year later my parents presented my the movie which i love it.
My maiden name is Robinson. And as a kid when we’d go to Disney we’d make up stories about living there and it being our home. I even told the stories to my daughter the first time we took her.
That’s so fun!
As a little boy I wanted to live there and Tom Sawyers Island...and go back and forth...which I actually did a lot of when I went to Disneyland..mom and dad would love to go on the Mark Twain and have a mint julip while I ran around..they knew I was safe..now at 70years old..I Still Want To Live In The treehouse!! Well .I already live in a rainforest so .
Which rainforest do you live in ?
@@taylortanner37 very rural Hawaii..go to sleep with tree frog song every night
So you need rescuing??
@@robertjones1729 oh desperately. I am in the deep south after growing up in a desert oasis. Not only is the climate throwing my system for a loop but the blatant racism and cruelty I see all too often here is starting to give me agoraphobia.
@@taylortanner37 that's unfortunate perhaps better discussed elsewhere
One of my all time favorite movies
The Swiss Family Robinson was one of my favorite movies, and books when I was a kid. I also love the attraction in Walt Disney World.
I like this. I always try to make the most of what I have every day. Thank you for continuing to spread positivity and trivia. You are appreciated.
Thank you 🥰
As a past disney cast member I would like to thank you for all your doing to archive the past of of the parks. I think it is important to let people know what the parks were like in the beginning. Richard past lead in Germany biergarden. 😂😂😂
As a former child I can confirm that i wanted to live in a tree house
The height freaked me out as a kid
VERY informative background on the Treehouse ... I had no idea they'd given different names to the two US Parks' trees 🤔
Thank you for the history lesson AND the amazing video footage ... really builds the anticipation for the reopening 🌳💚
You’re welcome!
Swiss people are so literal
😂
It’s not a very popular attraction today… the one at DisneyWorld never has a line.
It does during busy seasons. But it’s true it doesn’t usually have a line most of the year.
@@disneycicerone I think the reason for the name change was that Swiss Family Robinson wasn’t a very popular movie, but even now the treehouse still isn’t that popular.
Wow an IP that people complain.about today🤡🙄
