Hi, from Scotland. If you use glow plugs from a mid 90’s Peugeot 106 diesel with the 1.5 litre engine they work far better than those your using or plugs from a daihatsu fourtrak these get to full heat in 5 seconds. I have drilled many heads to suit these plugs. If your tractor smokes white after running 30 seconds your valve timing is out. If you get your valve timing and pump timing perfect ( this is very hard to do) your engine will start from cold with no heat required but only if not worn out. I have worked on these units for over 30 years.
You are saying better than these I installed from Turner Engineering? Good to know. I have some oil leaks that need correcting this summer. Also, is valve timing adjustable other than valve lash setting?
@@spudth the big problem with these engines is bad starting, this is always caused by the timing chain stretching which puts the valve timing and injection timing out meaning when the pistns are at bottom of cylinder and starting to rise on compression stroke the valves are still open! So when the pistons come up they can't make good compression because the valves need to be closed to achieve this. People replace the chain with a new one but don't do this or it will stretch again and timing out again. Instead re time the engine with the existing chain and much better result. When the valve timing goes out the injector pump goes out of timing by twice as much cos of the gear drive system. If you get your engine set up perfect it will be much better than the Perkins 3cylinder one and in very low temperatures out start the Perkins engine. I started mine yesterday at -10 centigrade 5 seconds of heat then started instantly. It's a very very good engine once set up.
@@spudth there is a very good DVD you can buy with step by step instructions. Or if you Google search the vintage tractor engineer that will help you to do it easily.
@Chris Fleming it's not the same size on the plugs that you mentioned as the gam 101? Right? You have drilled heads? Looking for replacement plugs that fit bolt on. Have the 1.7v pigtail style glow plugs at the moment
Just simple, hot to center and each side to the glow plugs. The switch goes both ways. It was a higher amp switch. Some days I go left some right. Both still work. Just started it in 20 degrees Fahrenheit a few days ago. 30 seconds on then start and held it on til the tractor would run on its own.
please, I have a question, can we mount this engine on a ferguson tef20 4 cylinders, my second question is can we mount a cylinder head from a ferguson tef20 on the engine block of this engine . thanks in advance

@@chrisfleming5109 I'll get my manual out and have a closer look!

I would like to see how you wired the toggle switch.

Sehr guter Start mit den Glühkerzen 😮

Did you convert this from 2 6v batteries to 1 12v battery?
Is that a fe35 or to35
Please comment any observations Good or Bad.
Gud tractor
