@@rawrfishing I have to drive a good 45min to some localish spots. But having only returned to fishing during the 1st lockdown in the UK I'm rekindling my childhood fishing wild streams where waders are the only way. Love to see you doing the same thing stateside....more than slightly jealous though as you have more species to target on lures than we do. 😁 Good work fella!
Can't wait for you to review the KastKing Kestrel BFS, I pre-ordered mine last week. I'm sure we will have to upgrade the spool bearings considering even Shimano bearings need upgrades but we'll fid out.
I didn't think there were any snakeheads in that pond. Would have been nice to land that big fish so you know what it was. Got so many species in that little pond it's crazy. Great video
Oh its a snake for sure... I have seen it for a few years and once it had a mate with babies. Haven't seen the other one since but... I also haven't caught. A small snake either. So I am throwing bfs size stuff in hope to catch a 1 year old snake 😂
EPFs are good but man when I found Mule fishing tops all my other Ultralight tackle and the new workhorse jig I can cast in any condition and still use a small profile hook and bait
New subscriber here... You are putting out some great content! I really enjoy it, so thank you! I know this is an older vid, so hopefully you see this. Can you possibly tell me the company, model name, and where you got that handle?
Thx I appreciate it! That Handle is from Gomexus. Unfortunately, I don't see it available on their website anymore. But you can check out their current offerings :)
I honestly just can't process how you are throwing such light weight on a baitcaster, ive tried multiple times and always end up with a pretty birds nest 😂😂 props to that 👏
It's all about having the right setup. Most people don't realize there are finesse BC reels. Some of the attributes you will see are the spool is shallow, light and it may contain micro sized bearings. Paired with little amount of thin line, which will keep the total spool weight low, will allow one to pair the reel on an UL rod and sling light lures. Check out my full episodes as I show case a ton of different rods and reels and upgrades.
What lb test braid do you use? And what lb test and length of a fluoro leader do you have? What knot do you use? Love the videos btw especially the one how you show how you spool your bfs reel with braid.
Thanks Jimbo - it looks like Gomexus' inventory is lacking. There are only three gold handles; one of which is a power handle one that's a 6x6... Not much more on ebay either. I guess I'll give Aliexpress a try
New stuff looks great. I only would use one or two... But I have already been using their grub tail. I feel that the new designs are to just catch wallets. But... It definitely caught me 😂
Sorry but I don't have that rod and I just depleted my funds when the value of YEN dropped low 😂 I also got 4 reels here and 3 other rods haven't even been used.... Ohhhh I'm in trouble from the wife if I get anymore 😂
@@catchacow1927 I appreciate it, but I just thought it over for a bit and I think it would not be a good time for now. Sup Jimmy. Great combos. Good multispecies day fishing. Still don't understand why called a trout magnet when catches anything lol. When you wade in water are you ever afraid of big snapping turtles? Lol. Tyvm
@@europeanian4205 ty. I was training one of my labs and he jumped in right on a big snapper, bit back of leg hitting tendons and artery, $4000 later ok lol. But made me scared. Saw the turtle being cleaned next day, lot of work, said 7 meats? 4 went into a stew which I ate out of revenge lol. Wasn't bad. Just had fear since. Went in water to retrieve lures all my life until then. Now I feel more confident. Tyvm
thanks man! it's just a name of the lure company. it was made to entice the trout folks. they have crappie magnets as well :) yes snapping turtles are mean, but im not scared of them as they are usually scared of us. some may stick around and chase your lures, so if i see em, i move just out of respect and to protect my tackle.
I have the same reel 1gr with 6lb power pro. braided. Casting is a hit- and - miss. I'm finding braid creates to much friction when passing thought the guides so I'm changing back to mono.
if you are using the curado bfs reel, the stock spool is a bit heavy for 1 gram lures. Gotta swap out to a lighter spool if you want to throw below the 2 gram level. As portrayed, the roro spool is not bad. BTW not all braid are equal. try a 4 strand PE line at .6 gou or below. When finesse fishing, most ppl go by line diameter rather than lb rating as it's easier to pick. don't max out your spool as well. if you plan on throwing light lures, u don't need 200 ft of thin line as it would just add weight to the spool. having a line counter will allow you to calculate how much line you will actually need. for my BFS setups that is focused throwing 1 gram, i only put on 75 ft of line.
This throws lighter lures at ease.. But with the avail spool, I feel it throws a bit larger lures more controlled after adding magnets. I would probably go with this for more light lures and all rounder for the avail. But I need more time with this :)
I'm looking for a spool for Trout in streams with decent current. Mostly using 1/8th-1/16th spinners/plugs/spoons. I can currently throw size 1 Blue Fox/1/8th ounce Little Cleos easily with a stock SLX BFS. Would the Roro be the right choice? I'm also considering Hedge Hog Air Ceramics, but not sure if those are an upgrade that I could take advantage of on the water.
@@TheD510addict either spools would be fantastic for 1/16th Oz as the stock limitation is around the 2 gram mark before it gets tough to throw. Bearings would always help in my opinion. I don't have the stock ones on. Roro on the roro spool and HH on the side plate
which gomexus handle is that? or will most of the 8x5mm handles work okay? i was thinking of getting a wider handle for my curado bfs. the spool seems to work pretty decent, but that price tag lol
I will honestly say that I don't even remember lol. They asked if i wanted to rock one and i said yes and they sent it to me. I wish the box tells me more, but so far they sent me 3 handles and none of them are ever marked. They have check boxes for the Size and spots where they put stickers to put model details, but nothing. Sorry >_
I’m having trouble myself throwing the 1/16 ounce on a 7ft Shimano Light with the new Zephyr with the clicker setup for the drag. I don’t know why I’ve got everything set right.
Zephyr works best 2.25 grams and up. Bare 1/16 oz is not gonna work. The spool is too heavy and bearings are not micro. But let's talk about what line u have and how much line spooled on?
@@rawrfishing I’m using about a half spool of 4lb test mono. I can’t get small enough braid right now. And I was talking about a 1/16 jig with a 2 inch paddle tail. But without micro bearings the Zypher is more of a bass bfs reel?
It's definitely a bass reel! Mono will not work on it for that light. U would need micros and thin braid and about 100 ft to 125 ft. Just order their 6lb destron. Cheap for testing purposes :)
@@rawrfishing thank you for all your help. And I have one other question. Where can I find a lighter spool for the Zephyr or do they even make one? I’ve looked and come up empty handed.
There isn't any out there as no companies would make one for a reel that might or is likely going away. Zephyr, although I helped KK with this reel, is really an entry level that have been surpassed by many other reels aleady. So don't expect it to last that much longer
