    So much better than a WRX. Interesting that they got rid of the 5 door WRX. Maybe Toyota killed off the WRX STi and the 5 door in anticipation of the GR Corolla

    • @jonttran1092
      @jonttran1092 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it better? Wrx has bigger displacement engine with lower boost. Likely to be more consistent, more reliable and longevity as well as more headroom to tune and mod. Costs cheaper and has more room?

    • @janikakis
      @janikakis 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jonttran1092 the WRX is a heavier car (+250lbs), the dynamics aren't going to be as good as a result, compounded with a higher center of gravity. In terms of longevity, Subaru boxer engines are notorious for head gasket failures. In terms of tuning look up the GR Yaris for perspective (it's the same engine).

      Not necessarily better, just different. Wrx has a dedicated awd, this is a front wheel drive biased platform with deployed awd when it's needed. The price of the wrx limited trim is cheaper right now by as much as 12k. Not the same at all.

    I currently own a Veloster N, is the GR Corolla worth upgrading to?
    How does the ride quality compare between the gr Corolla and the Veloster n I'm hoping the gr Corolla has a less firm ride.

    • @BStudd1182
      @BStudd1182 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’ll have to test drive one to see for yourself. I drove the N and it wasn’t stiffer than my 16 STi I owned. Hard to say but if I had to put money down I’d bet it’s just as stiff as the N if not little more.

    • @danp8309
      @danp8309 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have an Elantra N. I’d say probably not. What little performance you gain isn’t worth the extra cash plus markups. Not to mention the GR Corolla could never match the N’s exhaust note. I’ve actually seen videos from Japan with the Elantra N edging out the similar GR Yaris.

    Does the rear driveshafts uncouple when the handbrake is pulled like it does on the GR Yaris?

  • @jonttran1092
    @jonttran1092 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Will the price makes peoples stomach churn? Make everyone run to Subaru and tail between legs apologise for the fender insults and buy your wrx? The wrx has the bigger displacement lower boost engine to make similar power, should be more consistent, more reliable and better longevity? Plus more headroom to tune for more boost.. GR Corolla needs 25psi boost to be at boiling point to make 220kw… wrx makes 202kw at 12psi boost.. imagine 15-18psi in the wrx?

    • @KN-jw7ts
      @KN-jw7ts ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m from the future, and I’m here to say…..the gr is still much more desirable than the wrx. They are not even in the same convo. Was fortunate enough to have some extended wheel time w the gr, it’s just on another level.

    This is too much of a highly strung engine. Type r civic would still be a better buy and faster at the corners too.
