    to prevent the ripping, you can wet the nori sheet a little where it will be folded. it will make the seaweed softer and should help it not to crack.

    Nice!! You can easily roast peppers directly on your gas burners on the flames.... Char all the sides by turning with tongs... Done in 15 minutes! Put them in a bowl and cover until cool enuff to peel off skin with paper towel.
    Perfectly roasted peppers! I put them in a jar with olive oil, crushed garlic and sea salt between the layers. So yummy!

    You can turn your broiler setting on and cut that roasting time down by A LOT. Also, seasoning the sushi rice while it is still warm and then cutting/folding the mixture will cool it down and the flavor will penetrate the rice more effectively.

    If you dont have a rice cooker you can always microwave it too 😊 For sushi rice I do 1 part rice to 1.5 parts water in a large covered microwavr safe container and microwave for approx 12 minutes- will vary depending on your microwave. This really changed my rice game because I cant afford a rice cooker and dont have space in my tiny kitchen, but I was always way way too lazy to cook it on the stove and have to clean the pot after.

    I would also recommend to mix in special rice seasoning to the plain rice - which should be available at all asia supermarkets. Most contain fish but some are vegan. I use a Japanese brand which also contains small pieces of rice crackers - among other things - which makes the whole thing way tastier. In Japan they also mix in all kinds of different things into rice sandwiches like ketchup or mayonnaise.

    I have a tip for the bell pepper: you can put it directly on the flame at the stove until you have all the sides toasted, put them inside a plastic bag (like the ones you get vegetables) and it will "sweat" leave it there until you can actually touch it and then it would be so easy to take "the skin" of ☺️, and then you can cut it and remove the inside". That's how my mom does it haha

    Avacado's are so delicious, we used to have an Avacado tree where I used to live when I was little. I still reminisce about those days. My mom would send me and my little brother to pick the ones that had fallen down from the tree in our backyard. : )

    A minor tweak that I'd make: mike a bit of sriracha with vegan mayo to make that spicy sauce that people put on top of sushi for a dash of extra flavor. Maybe even some toasted sesame oil / seeds.

    if you don't want the papers to tear when you fold it together i suggest you just "mist" the papers with a light spray of water on the 4 edges actually, pretty sure they will become a little more pliable then.
    not that i've seen it anywhere but it makes sense lol.

    Hi!! Great video, this looks delicious!!! I wanted to share a rice tip I got, you might already know it, but thought I'd go ahead. To make the rice really fluffy, when it is finished cooking in the rice cooker, take the cooking bowl out, fluff up the rice with a fork, then put the lid back on with a itty bittty crack to let steam escape. Let sit for about 5 min, and BOOM! Fluffy ass rice, and who doesn't like that. ;) Thanks again for the great recipe, I am SO making this... :)

    When you put hot foods in the fridge, you cause bacteria to grow and can even cause your food to sour. Especially in a soup or sauce. If you're storing your food, always wait for it to cool completely too.

    Why do you rinse the rice three times? Does it help with the stickiness? I never rinse mine, because the water will boil the bacteria anyway and I never eat sticky rice, so I wouldn't know. Also, my mouth is watering. I'll probably try them soon!

    • @beemobile98
      @beemobile98 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      thatlalagirly it's not about the bacteria - if you don't rinse your rice it's going to cook together with dust and rice flour (just tiny bits of rice caused by rice grain movement during shipping) and it's not going to taste as good

    • @cmntr_
      @cmntr_ 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

So they are just asking if there are alternatives... no need to be rude. I personally don't buy plastic wrap and was curious as well if it's possible to make these without it
