Unpopular opinion: but Doom 3 was my favorite Doom. And I've played all of them, even the old ones as a teenager. I just preferred 3 because of the lore and more slow paced fighting. Don't get me wrong, classic doom and the next games are great too for their genre, but I'm just not a big fan of constant gunning, running and fighting any more. Doom 3 was just creepier.
I own (and play) all of them too. I only just got DOOM 3 BFG Edition for Christmas this year (my daughter ROCKS!).
DOOM 64 is still my favorite... but DOOM 3 is now my 2nd favorite!

@@thisisnotachannel I love Doom 64; it's such a great game. I wish they had more bosses than the same Cyberdemon boss over and over again, but my favorite is, in my opinion, Doom 2, while Doom 3 is second to Doom 1993. Doom Three is creepier because technology advances, so of course it will be more creepy, but the older games just the bosses and screaming when getting killed by a demon was amazing on the game for its time. It was amazing, and we take games for granted like the older Zelda games. The newer ones don't compare to Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, or even Link to the Past.😊
I see what you mean doom 3 was scary and it made me feel like these were demons. Especially when random objects would fly around or fly at you it felt like hell had truly invaded

The funny thing is at the time of release doom3 was criticized for being too much like the original doom games (teleporting in enemies, monster closets ect) and now its criticized for not being doom enough.
This game has never gotten its proper credit
It is not doom enough, but if we forget about that, it's a great game if you like horror survival

Theres nothing wrong with nu-doom but with its glory kills and associated mechanics its just not 'Doom'.
Its like the 97 Godzilla flick...perfectly decent enough film about a big lizard, but just not a Godzilla film.
I always liked Doom 3 more because it was more lifelike instead of the constant fast paced feel of Doom 2016/Eternal.

I am playing through Doom 3 right now for the first time. I genuinely feel pretty on edge at times, which is quite a feat for a game as old as this.
Which I totally do not blame him at all. I mean seeing a demon the size of a two floor house is VERY terrifying!

Doom 3 deserves more credit.
It improved Doom 64's terrifying ambiance, gave the franchise a deeper lore but still managed to keep the feeling of the originals. I can sort of understand the complains about the flashlight breaking the game rhythm, but nothing serious TBH (and the BFG Edition changed that, so...).
I remember the very first time I beat it on my OG Xbox. I played for 26 hours straight. It was awesome. And I had nightmares after that 😂

This will be some sort of tip/guide for the base doom 3 campaign.
0:00 For basic zombie, zombies, they're weak and slow. You can easily just use the shotgun get up and close and personal with them and one-shot them.
For the flaming zombie, as the previous kind of zombie, you can just one-shot them with the shotgun.
Beware, flaming zombies are way faster than regular zombies.
For Z-sec, there are different types of them.
For the pistol z-sec, they're faster than regular zombies and well, have a pistol. To deal with them one on one, it's best to use your own pistol kill them off.
If they're with other Z-sec, such as the machine gun Z-sec, try grenade them to clear them out. If you can't, quickly take out the more dangerous Z-sec then kill the pistol Z-sec.
For the machine gun Z-sec, use the machine gun of your own and shot them down. Use any cover you may have available.
Also, a good way to deal with these guys is to backtrack, go to a previous room, and camp near the door and wait for them with the shotgun.
Aim well and you will one-shot them as they enter the room.
For the shotgun z-sec, usually keep your distance from them. They have much tighter shotgun spread than you do and do a lot of damage.
Use the machinegun while at a distance from is optimal. Also, you can use the backtracking cheese with these guys as well.
For the Z-sec with the shield, the grenade is a good option against them. Their shield won't protect them if a grenade is sent their way.
For the chainsaw zombie, they need to get near you to damage you with their chainsaw, so you can hang back and shot them down.
If you want to do high risk/high reward, you can chainsaw them while crouched. You may or may not get damaged.
1:50 For imps, you need to learn how to dodge their attacks, shove the shotgun up their face and blast them.
This will usually one-shot them, conserving ammo for your other weapons.
If there multiple imps attack, you can hit them with grenade and clear them out.
2:25 The best way to deal with Pinkys is with the chaingun. I believe you can find the chaingun in this level after fighting the second pinky of that level.
Find the martian buddy locker and use the code 0508 to get the chaingun.
For this fight, as the pinky is breaking in to the room, you can exit it, make some space between yourself and use the machinegun.
After this you will find a Martian buddy locker. Use the code 0508 to get the chaingun, and any other pinkies that appear, you the chaingun on them.
3:39 In that Room in Alpha labs sector 1, after the trites start spawning in, there is a vent that's beside the health station. You can jump in there (jump in there while sprinting) and peaceful shoot down the trites from there without ever worry from getting damaged by the trites.
4:04 There are two ways to deal with this boss.
This depends on whether you killed Campbell and stole his BFG or not. If you have the BFG, you can one-shot this boss.
If not, then use the chaingun, and whenever you hear the weird sound effect when it's throwing those spiky ball things at you, crouch to avoid them.
4:54 For lost souls, if they haven't detected you, you can get some shots in with the pistol or if they're a bit too far.
But otherwise, use the machinegun as these guys are usually in groups and will try to swarm you.
5:56 For Wraiths, if you aren't good with dodging their attacks, hang back and machinegun them or with the plasma gun.
If you are good at using the shotgun, you can use it to get in their face and one-shot them.
6:25 It's best to use the chaingun on Cacodemons as it's effective on them without you needing to use any other stronger weapons you may have at You'd disposal.
You can also shot them down with the shotgun, but make sure you are close, then you can take them down in like 2 shotgun shots.
7:02 Use the plasma gun on revenants. It has wide projectiles which easily destroys the revenants rockets easily while doing good damage.
7:22 Machinegun works well on the cherubs. And the chainsaw as well works will with them, but with the chainsaw, you need to make sure you don't do it in an open space.
Do it somewhere like where you're at the corner of the end of a hallway. Those cherubs will try to walk towards you and foolishly walk into the chainsaw.
7:58 Mancubus need to be taken out fast due to their rockets doing big damage.
It's best to use the rocket launcher on them and it takes like 5 rockets to end them.
9:00 For the tentacle commando zombie, you should use the chainsaw, crouch and chainsaw their private parts. This is good and fast way of dealing with them while conserving ammo.
For the chaingun commando zombie, stay clear of them. Use the rocket launcher and shot them down. Run back if you see this guy running towards your location.
Keep your distance, these guys shred your health like butter.
9:34 For this boss fight, where there 2 two hell knights, use the BFG and try to kill at least one of the hell knights at the start of the fight. If you're lucky, you kill both of them with one shot (it occurred with me one time).
Then use rockets launchers to kill the second one.
Generally, you can use rockets, bfg and the more powerful weapons to deal with these guys.
If you're ballsy, you can use the shotgun and chainsaw on them. Just make sure you know how to dodge their attacks if you try using the chainsaw on them.
10:44 For the guardian of hell boss fight, make sure you have the BFG ready. When the fight starts, shot the blue energy looking thing that's coming from its back with a fully loaded BFG shot.
Then quickly switch to rockets and keep shooting the blue erergy thing which should be red now.
If done correctly, then the boss dies within seconds. (I uploaded a video showing this.)
If not, then you pretty much have to do what the guy in the video is doing.
Shoot down the seekers since this thing is blind, make use of your infinite sprint because hell gives you thr ability to sprint infinitely for some reason.
Once you shoot down all the seekers, attack the blue energy back thing, then do this multiple times until you win.
11:52 for the best way to deal with the ticks to conserve ammo is to use the chainsaw on them.
You can get the chainsaw in the earlier part of this level if you check the door near that chaingun commando zombie after you exit from those vents you were crawling in prior.
Heads up, in the room with the chainsaw, there is a tentacle commando zombie.
Once you have the chainsaw, go where the ticks are, and crouch near the corner of the hallway with the chainsaw and those ticks will stupidly walk into it, or you can simply better position yourself if need be.
If you do this properly, you can easily clear this part without wasting the limited ammo you have.
12:08 For archviles, if you have the soulcube, quickly use it on them. Kill them as fast as you can with it before they summon more enemies.
If you don't have the soulcube, then use rockets or the BFG to quickly end them.
Trust me, you want these guys dead first because they will keep summoning more enemies everytime you kill them.
Also, if you know where a archive is going to spawn, then use the chainsaw while it's spawning in. It will melt their health like butter
12:33 For the Sabaoth boss fight, make sure you have the soulcube saved up.
If you do, unleash the soulcube and then quickly followed by rockets and Sabaoth will die in like 6-7 seconds.

The soulcube is OP.
13:24 Just run around with infinite sprint (being near the hell hole gives you such) and run away from the cyberdemon, kill the other demons to charge up the soul cube, use soulcube on cyberdemon, rinse and repeat like 4 times and you win.

This game certainly felt like dead space more than doom. But it was still great and certainly affected the series in a major way.
In fact Dead Space feels like Doom 3, cause this game was created many years before.
We wouldn't have our modern day Hellknight design without this game, we owe it that much credit if nothing else

The Bruisers? Their monitors with the human-like teeth and eyes on them creep me out, yet at the same time it's a pretty unique and interesting design.
They seem like a faster version of the mancubus
I like how he's still angry in some cut scenes and in others he's actually low-key afraid like when he saw the cyberdemon that was definitely an "Ah fuck". Doom 3 might not have been the rip and tear game, but you can't deny it was glorious, also goes to show that even as a human Doomguy kicked ass.
I honestly think if they make another Eternal sequel with Doom Slayer, they could add a dlc or a second campaign where you're a human or a Sentinel Knight on a separate mission to aid the Slayer. Like, on one hand, you're the motherfucking Doom Slayer on a rampage, and on the other hand you're a Sentinel and the power system has changed. It'd be like Doom 3 i think.
Yeah. Somewhat still fast paced but retains that you aren’t invincible or immortal.
Doom 3 was the best, because the demons actually look like demons, instead of being like "Oh no, the Slayer is gonna be mean to me boo hoo".
You actually felt afraid. This was everyone's apocalypse. Yours too. You were not just some outsider that was summoned to "rip and tear". You were just a random marine who had to fit into the role or die.
It was perfect. I will forever love Doom 3.

First hour playing the game and it’s Harder than it seems
Doom 3 is brutal the first time time through. Enemies come out of nowhere, you don't know where to find the hidden goodies, and the game just baits you into making mistakes all the time. Plus the mechanics are just punishing, period. It sure is satisfying to go back through once you are good at it though, and get revenge on all those stupid leaping imps.

The bruisers are gnarly, a really cool but tough enemy.
In every doom game pinkey walks on 2 lags and in doom 3 on 4 legs
Doom 3 really gets into the horror aspect of Hell invading the living world, mutating humans and bringing eldritch horrors from the abyss for the lone survivor to face.
The Guardian was terrifying, because you have to keep looking away to deal with the Seekers. It took me several tries to defeat it.

The one thing that questioned me was how is a zombie in this game still alive with it's brain ripped off???
I think it's implied they're possessed by demonic spirits. One terminal in the game says something about how they have no brain activity, so they're technically still "dead" in a way. Makes no sense how head shots still does extra damage to them.
The zombies here aren't infected by common zombie things like viruses, rather they're bodies possessed by spirits of hell
Resurrection of Evil is not a "DLC", though. It was distributed on physical media, not via download.

It was originally meant for a cut area in the base game where it would have been hiding as a monitor the player would try to interact with, only for it to rise up and reveal it was a demon. Kinda weird they brought the enemy back for RoE but did *not* use it that way.
The monitor also changes to an image of an eye sometimes too.
I'm really stuck. Can't seem to get past the Mancubus.
Side stepp and run get distance. It's actually easy
Doom 3 have 2 unbalanced things:chainsaw, cyberdemon. They both were added late, because id software don't had time to somehow balance them. Because of this, cyberdemon is really easy boss. Chainsaw don't stunlock enemies, but dealing 500 damage per second, looking like a balance, but still...
