He might not know what “doctor” or “toenails” means, but he’s fully aware it has a negative connotation. It’s why he reacts the way he does. Don’t underestimate a bird’s smarts, they’re extremely intelligent creatures. Especially parrots. Keep being you Max! We love you!

As he is trying to talk his way out of going by saying sorry for being a bad bird & asking if his toes nails are bad enough to go. There are tonnes of times in Max's video's where he is giving direct answers and trying to ask things. Even though what comes out mostly sounds like that CB Radio garble or an excited scream. I also think with Max its also him being afraid he will get seperated from Dan. As I believe Max is aware he is in a loving home with a lot of love & care.

Max immediately goes into his anti vet chanting and summoning the dark forces that he always does when he goes to the vet. And then he really starts in arguing with Dan.

Awww, our sweet boy is so upset again at just the mention of the word "vet", then at the sight of the carrier goes from low voice concern to high pitch anxiety, even shaking. Our hearts always go out to Max on these days, but we know the trip will be short, and when he returns he will be back to his more relaxed self. I really wish it were possible to mentally communicate with Max that if he let's Dan trim his nails directly, these visits would not be necessary .. We need a Bird Whisperer .. Max has PLENTY to say when the carrier comes out. So very much complaining to do! It's nonstop for 10 minutes at a time, and features all sorts of dramatic gestures for emphasis - flapping and angry head bobs, various aggressive displays... He puts on quite a show. And I know his poor little birdy heart is breaking, but I can't help but laugh and laugh.
Max's animated fits crack me up. Especially when he throws his whole body into the arguement. Haha. He's emphasizing his anger! So much personality in his little body.
Max started out by asking you nicely if you cannot take him to the vet. When you didn't change your mind Max decided to take his demands up a notch 😅😅😅. I really love this bird ❤ lol

Dan, I can't imagine how much you must love this wonderful bird - I adore him myself from afar! I remember how awful it was a few years ago when he was ill - all around the world people waited so anxiously till he got better. I recall you were beside yourself drivng far and wide to vets all over. But just look at him now - he is so well in your unstinting care and with all the love he gets. Max started out by asking you nicely if you cannot take him to the vet. When you didn't change your mind Max decided to take his demands up a notch 😅😅😅. I really love this bird ❤ lol

Did you notice the change of voice?! My mom said, he's going to the Dr? Yep, the vet! Doesn't like being touched?! No, because of the person who had him before. His cage had been caved in... From the Outside, not the inside!! Someone had been trying to get him to shut up!! (Max didn't want to be where he was. He wanted to be with DAN!!, But he shouldn't have had to go through the ABUSE he did before💔 though...)

Dan, I can't imagine how much you must love this wonderful bird - I adore him myself from afar! I remember how awful it was a few years ago when he was ill - all around the world people waited so anxiously till he got better. I recall you were beside yourself drivng far and wide to vets all over. But just look at him now - he is so well in your unstinting care and with all the love he gets. God bless you both, you spread so much joy in this world, wretched as it now is. Thank you for these lovely posts of you and your little feathered angel! 💕💕

I thought it was a great story especially how Max was pretty much bonded to you 💕 I'm sure it takes a whole lotta up keep taking care etc. Things happen for a reason (I believe 😁) and Max was meant to be with you!🐦💕

Max say what you want but you still have to go to the Vet. Toe nails have to be clipped for your own good! It keeps this birdy healthy. I just love Max's demon voice! It's the best. First, he tries to scare Dan into calling off the vet visit, then he tries yelling to see how that will work.
As soon as he mentioned the vet, he started his "centimeter, centimeter, centimeter" demon chant.
It's his demon chant lyrics. 😆 He's seriously trying to communicate with dad like a man. Then regression into infantile and hysteria. It's a bird brain, give it a break Max. Doesn't adjust well to his health schedule, but that's human traits too. Not everyone loves going to the doctor.
