- I like rescuing these writing devices.
They are cheap, but still pretty useful for writing in cafés, parks, and I don't know where else.
The Writer Fusion is a continuation of Alphasmart idea and it is surprisingly well featured. It even has TTS (it can read your text aloud), but this model has no speaker so you would need to use headphones (it of course sounds very robotic so I don't even bother to showcase it)
This will show you how to replace the internal battery (that will be probably dead if you get your hands on one of these) with Eneloops.

it looks like a pro version of the alpha neo something an actual writer would use.

Hi. Excellent tutorial. I love my AlphaSmart Neo2, but I woould LOVE to get my hands on one of these guys.
If you still want one I just bought 7 so I'm selling 5 of them after I make sure they work. I have the cf versions. If needed I'm going to swap batteries and find the right cords for each. I'm thinking like 70 each is fair for my cost of buying/replacing batteries and labor
So I have the older version with compact flash. I haven't been able to find any cords to fit it except one from Amazon where it has a ton of different ends but it still didn't work. I got the enloops and taped them together just to make sure the device works. It does work but I'm a little confused because are they able to get charged through the device if I get the right cord? Also I noticed the white cord in the middle of the power cord going into the computer from battery is cut on mine and I don't know if it makes a difference. I was able to get the wire exposed and sort of cram it in there and it still didn't charge so it's either the wrong cord or it didn't make a good enough connection or maybe this version is not able to charge through the device? I'm debating getting a little external battery holder and just cutting a notch in the case and gluing it to the side of the machine and then they could get easily removed to get recharged in a battery recharger...
How does this compare to an Alphasmart? Which model is it most like...Neo or Dana? Can you do a comparison video?
I forgot to ask. How long does the battery last on the Fusion?

I finally got my hands on a Writer Fusion. How do you turn it on? The red charge light goes on when I plug in a AC adapter but nothing else works. I hit the reset on the back.
i recently bvought this keyboard and was curious if you can sell me a new battery pre assembled.
Have you ever worked on the Forte model with a speaker? I bought online and it doesn't even turn on. It charges though. 😢
If the battery is bad, the fusion will not turn on even with power adapter (silly design). If you open it and disconnect the battery, it will turn on with power.
Why do you say to use the White batteries and not the Pro? Wouldn't the pro get you more mAh?
How easy is it to read the screen as compared to the Neo2? I was hoping for something a little better than the Neo2 but I can’t really tell from your camera in video, my eyesight is rather poor, thanks.

All these features...nothing like them in the Freewrite series. For $500+ dollars. I'm researching affordable alternatives like this and the AlphaSmart. Do you prefer this over the Alphasmart models?
Yes, definitely, the backlight display is a big plus and typing is as comfortable. Also you can have folders etc... and it looks less as a toy. But Alphasmart uses AA batteries so if you buy one, it will probably work right away. For Fusion you need to replace the battery because by now the original would be dead or nearly dead. So if you can't do it yourself then...
Also, see if you can pick up the Alphasmart Dana. I have one and out of all my portable word processors, it’s my favorite.
@@doctoryarn There are 2 Dana models, look at the Dana Wireless, you need to have an older protocol on your wifi router, or second router..
