  • I didn't have much fuel left over from the tune, BUT I couldn't wait for the jugs to come in to re-fuel. So I decided to take the WRX out for the first real drive on E85.

    I’ve owned, modded and tuned several Subaru’s now. And currently own a 2017 WRB WRX. Right now 340whp 320wtq on a mustang dyno.
    With that being said it’s important to remember Mustang dyno’s read a little lower. And I noticed yours was tuned on a mustang dyno. So your car would easily put down over 400 torque and horsepower on most any dynojet.
    Yeah that’s a LOT of power 😂👍 you sound aware of the risks! I bet that car is crazy fast. Mine scares the shit out of me.

  • @OneProN00B
    @OneProN00B 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Yeah I've heard that 350 tq rule and honestly it seems like that was when the FA was new and the tuners didn't really know what to do. Seems like 400 tq is the limit now and it also depends on how the tq curve looks. Just my opinion. Hopefully it holds up because I'm doing the same setup in the next few months. Cheers.

    Also be careful about wot or any amount of throttle below 1/4th tank. The way the fuel pump is it will slosh the fuel away from the pump and can cause the car to lean out due to fuel starvation.

    Yeah from my understanding 350WTQ is what our FA internals are rated for, but as long as you aren't flooring it constantly, it should be fine. Either way if you are like me, I bought the WRX over the STI because of price/performance and to get similar numbers you'd have to spend close to $8k on the ej. So definitely coming out ahead even after a blown motor. Keep up the awesome vids! I definitely want to get protuned this summer.

    Would not be concerned about the tq. The problem with higher ethanol contents are they don't knock... While that is a very good thing, most tuners push alot of timing in the uppers rpms where cylinder pressure are already generally at its highest point. All depends on the tune and how you drive it but enjoy the car. That's what you built it for 👍

  • @pink3918
    @pink3918 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    As long as most of your torque is up high and is linear, you shouldn’t worry about the rods. It all depends on your driving and the tune. Not the numbers.

      Two delays and revive match remember so you’re already going with the turbo spinning fast then turn shift say for a turn. So slow down then clutch and fuel; follow by release clutch. Pipes is not going last I would think pressure per square inch take a lot of wear and tear.

Careful with that torque Launching it. I hope it lasts a long time for you though. After reading a lot of the comments, I'd have to agree a lot depends on the driver and the actual torque curve. Just don't lug the engine or let it overheat etc. You'll probably be fine.

    • @plsmithed

      Correct, there is no NEED to change at 2k rather than 3k but in respect to the car, engine oil is what keeps the motor healthy, it’s the life blood of a car. For a few bucks you get added piece of mind knowing that you have fresh oil in the engine.
      The idea behind it is that the alcohol in E85 breaks down the efficiency of the oil faster, and with high concentrations of ethanol (like full E85 and not a blend) it’s better to change your oil sooner than later. I run straight E85 with no blend and daily the car.
