Hello from Ohio. I see you and other teachers are always seem to go through a lot paperwork for your students. Your setups seem to be a lot more work than the teachers I grew up having. Of course, we did not have the tech or white boards. Our teachers had blackboards, overhead projectors and regular bulletin boards. Anyway have a great day today 😊.
When you need to make something magnetic, use magnetic tape. Your door area works for the calendar, but you could move it in the future by using magnetic tape. Aww, sweet that your students want you to read to them more!

I actually needed to make it not magnetic - my whiteboard isn’t magnetic!

You can make the wall or board magnetic by using magnetic tape on them.
