As the school librarian, my shelves were overflowing at the start of the year. It wasn’t long before things got checked out and I had empty shelves. Stick with what you have. Extra books can be added or switched out during the year. That will freshen the selection.
I would totally stick to the bins. I did the binding for a long time and it was terrible. I felt like kids didn’t read a lot of the books and it was hard to organize even with the bindings. I have the bins now and I feel like kids read a lot more because they can clearly see the covers.
Just get colored tape and placeit on book spine. You could organize books that way . But also, they are in 3rd grade they should be able to handle standing books in shelves
The colored tape is a great idea! With how close we are to the school year starting I’m going to stick with bins for now, but I will keep that idea in mind for the future! Thanks for the idea!
