    OUR STORY SO FAR:
We are Cory & Kristen Williams and in August 2014 we made the long drive from Southern California to Alaska to move into our new home in Eagle River. Here we’ve had the chance to explore Alaska, experience lots of wild events, meet lots of great people and endure the extreme temperatures that the north is known for. On December 20th, 2014 we got engaged after our Polar Plunge under the Northern Lights then later married by our favorite lake on May 23rd, 2015. Then on June 23rd, 2016 we had our first child. A baby girl named Chell.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
    WHAT DOES "DudeLikeHELLA" MEAN?:
"Dude" is me, Cory. I am the dude. "Like" is a joining word which is used to express similarities and "HELLA" is slang for "a lot" or in my case, "the greatest amount". So together, "DudeLikeHELLA" means "The best me I can be".

Took my breath away when the drone was taking off and you standing on the mountain top. That was one of the most beautiful shots I've seen with one of these. Thanks for taking us Cory.

Cory this was probably one of the most epic vlogs I have seen... the drone footage is unbelievable.... damn... thank you for taking us with you... and as someone that has had both knees replaced.. go get checked... a good ortho could help... either by sending you to physical therapy or braces so you can keep going on this epic hikes... don't just let it go. you don't want to do irreparable damage....

OMG! Cory I am beyond impressed! Hiking a mountainous terrain alone, w/limited supplies, pushing yourself through pain, with 30+ pounds on your back. Now that's adventure! Thanks to your thoughtfulness and determination I'm seeing Alaska.
If you move the family deeper into the bush better pack a gun when hiking, ok?

Love that this hiking vlog is longer. Being a fellow vlogger, I totally get how it can be tough making the at home vlogs long. I remember when you were doing the Live.Me thing in May, you took us on a few hikes and I was fully engaged for that whole 30 mintues or 1 hour because I felt like I was hiking the trail with you. Very beautiful. Thanks for bringing us along on this hike Cory!

Great video, and a great hike, but I can't ignore a couple of things. Jeans. Jeans are the worst things to hike in. It's stiff, dense and heavy, and it's a pain in the ass to walk long distances in. The basketball shoes aren't the best choice too, and you mentioned that proper hiking boots are heavy, which is true, but they've made for hiking and they will support your feet and keep them warm (and dry). Basketball shoes won't.
I would recommend you to use some proper hiking pants and a windbreaker jacket the next time. They're both super light, but they'll also protect you from the elements (mainly rain and wind). A head torch is also a practical piece to have around so you don't accidentally end up falling down a cliff if it gets dark.
You made some mistakes, but in the end it's okay since you managed to get home in one piece! I would however be a little more prepared the next time.
    Cheers

You need to pack a couple of those metallic like blankets that can keep you super warn. Water, compass, fluids, I'm sure you have your phone plus one of those emergency one. And a map you have drawn where you are going and call someone before you loose a signal. Just to be carful. take a few pics maybe you can find some real nice and see a few. Have fun.

Kevin Mitchell Yep and a couple of us fans would like to do the same thing. Cory, you did get carried away with time and it WAS epic, but being trapped in the dark on the side of a mountain without protective clothing, shelter and something more than a can of mace and a knife may not bring you home safely to your wife and daughter. Besides, what will happen to us, your fans, if you break a leg and we have to watch a couple months of vlogs taped from your wheelchair? YIKES! Sorry, I'm sort of joking and sort of serious. I don't want you to end up like that bear man who was eaten by a wild bear! 😊🖖🏻💖

As someone with bad knees, I am so sympathetic to your issue. Yes, going down is so much more of an issue than up. I recommend getting some really good braces to support your knees on these hikes so you don't damage your knees further. Good luck. That was a gorgeous hike. Also... love the Beastie Boys nod.

Elise Logan I got a real good knee brace - they do not help. Just weakens the knee. Good physical therapy exercise is the key.

It was brilliant even if you had me pooping myself on your behalf towards the end. Can you see a trainer or sports therapist to help you with the knee thing? I went to my Dr's for something similar and he told me to put a bag of sugar in a carrier bag put it around my ankles and then do leg lifts......I went to the gym instead and done weights and it made all the difference. Can you imagine when you and the girls get to climb those mountains together! The beer was well earned :)

This was breathtaking! I am watching from Madeira, Portugal. We have mountains and they are beautiful but Alaskan mountains are something else. What I love about this vlog the most? The fact that it was posted means you made it home. :) That leaves me to watch it in peace knowing whatever you experience you'll come out the other side well enough to edit and post.
Remember, when climbing, thin air makes you breathe harder and every ounce of weight will feel like a pound as you wear yourself out and have a harder time grabbing O2 from the thin air. Climb smart and live to see your family grow. Please, don't climb alone!

Wow, Cory! Epic climb! Great footage! I'm so glad you made it up, AND down the mountain, safely! I totally understand the whole knee pain, when going down, rather than up. I've been like that a long time. I kinda think it might be a Skateboarding thing... All the crazy stunts, and spills, and stuff like that. I used to do all that stuff, too, and then I wrecked my board! I was so sad, but I took up Rollerblading instead. That's pretty fun, too, but I don't do the insane stunts I used to do, when I was on my board. To be honest, I haven been on my Rollerblades, since 2005, I think. I became disabled in 2010, and I wasn't able to walk for 3 years. I was on crutches for 2 of those 3 years, and then in a wheelchaor, for another year. I had 5 spinal cord surgeries, and my doctors said I would never walk again. I told them, "Watch Me!" God healed me through the hands of an incredible surgeon, at Johns Hopkins, in Baltimore, MD, and when I left there, and went to rehab for 10 days, afterwards, they asked me what my goals were, when I got there. I told them, "I want to walk again, I want to Rollerblade again, and I want to rock climb again." I've been walking, with either a walker, or a cane, since mid 2013, and last year, at our local Street Fair, the Army Recruiters were there, and I told them my situation, and they recommended that I not try it, but I climbed the Rock Wall, and made it 3/4 of the way up. I had braces on my knees and on my ankles, but I wanted to get up there, so badly. So I did it. I would have made it to the top, but I couldn't find a place for my foot, so I finally got too tired of just being stuck where I was, and I came back down. But I was so happy that I made it that far! I wanted to go, and try it again, a couple weeks ago, when the Fair came to town again, but the Rock Wall wasn't there, this year! I was so bummed! I was determined to get to the top, this year. I looked all over the Fair, and it jus was not there. I was really disappointed. BUT, I did put my Rollerblades on, and kind of rolled around the house a little bit. I haven't made it outside with them yet, but I do plan on it, at some point! Anyway, I'm really proud of you, for climbing that mountain! You did awesome, Dude! Keep being the awesome you, the we all adore! Btw... I loved watching you guys on Daybreak! That was so much fun!

My mom's always told me that it's good to fear things at least a little bit. Because if you fear something, you're going to respect it and approach things more carefully. Such as my fear of tilting or hitting something on the riding lawnmower we had. Because I was scared, I was more careful.

I've never been hiking even though I've wanted to for quite a while. There are no proper hiking places nearby. Anyway, thanks for taking me along for this one! I don't think I've ever seen anything this beautiful and breath taking in my life.

please don't get me wrong, the hike and hellacopter view was the most epic thing i've ever seen and it makes livin in alaska even more attractive for me - BUT my absolute favorite thing about this vlog was the moment you came home and your wonderful wife did not scream or made a scene about how dangerous or du b your decisions for your day were - her only question was "was it worth it?"! kristen is such a wonderful wife/companion to have!

mala berlin If we were all raised to discuss things calmly with those we love, all our lives would be better. Kristen' and Cory are epically positive people and even when she is nervous (if she was nervous), they don't nag and snipe at each other. They make awesome examples of how a long-term relationship should be handled! It makes coming home to one another a great joy!

I've been gone from The Last Frontier for 28 years....and your quad video made me cry. Alaska never leaves your heart. There are just certain times you find out it's deeper in your heart than you thought it was. Yeah. This was one of those times. I can smell that air. I can smell the tundra and the berries. I can feel the Autumn quality of the sun. I can hear the nothing. Thank you, Cory. From the deepest part of Alaska in my heart.

So I was eating cereal and when you said "Do you hear that?" I stopped chewing and listened closely. I was like "I don't hear anything" and then you said "Of course you don't. It's so quiet you could hear a mosquito fart." I laughed pretty hard, both and you and at myself. haha
But dude, that view when you get to the top! My favorite part is when you just started flying and it just looks like the mountain your on is moving while the ones in the back are staying still. Just amazingly beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing!

this was definetly one of my favorite vlogs on this channel... so many great shots, but what really hit home for me was when cory was descending and he said he has to climb down anyway and complaining at this point will only make it worse, so he focuses on the positive.. perfect mantra for my life situation right now. and also - im going hiking today! there is a hill with a castle on top where i live (Bamberg, Bavaria) and i've only hiked up once since i moved here... it's a short hike but still...

    One of your best, Cory!
Now, imagine hiking on very high elevations with only one functional lung.
...my life every time I hike and I love it. XD
It pushes me beyond my limits and there's not a feeling like it in the world.
