I came upon this site by chance! I recall my second winter as an infantry brigade Captain stationed at Ft. Wainwright in 1971. We had it even colder, if that's imaginable, and it went down to -67 one day when we were out in the field. Just how brutal (and scary, too, when you're out in it) this temperature range is, cannot be fully understood if you haven't experienced it. You brought it about as close as someone can get to sensing it! What memories you triggered with this "COOL" video! Thanks! Rich Brennan
I generally don't comment videos but I'll make an exception for you Stan as a fan of the show you were in a few years ago. Thank you so much for this wonderful ride that helps us understanding how Tanana is (something we barely see somewhere else). Greetings to you and all your family from France.

Living in Alaska has been a dream of mine since I was about (10) years old, and I am now (74). I guess that I will have to give up on that dream now! Harsh temperatures and a very tough way of life, but a GOOD life. Thanks for your video, and the best of everything for you, Joey, and all of the people in Tanana. Happy New Year!

If I left my car running like that, my car would be gone when I got back. It’s nice to see there are places that exist where people are nice and honest
westmeathguy Yes, the worse thing is I automatically know to set my alarm on my car and lock the doors and set my house alarm never giving it a second thought. Until one day I was speaking to a gentlemen from Saudi Arabia and I noticed as he left his house in Saudi Arabia he didn’t lock his door. All of us on Perascope told him don’t forget to lock your doors. He said we have no need to lock our doors unlike you Americans. He said if somebody is caught stealing we can cut his hand off. 😳. I don’t know if he was joking or he was serious. But that made me realize not everybody has home invasions and stolen cars. 🙈

Reminds me of my Navy days. I was in the Submarine service and we went up across the Artic Circle many times. -80 degrees and colder there most of the trips. A steaming hot chocolate brought to you on the bridge while on watch and it was like a milkshake in 3 minutes. The good old days.
