    Definitely fishy that so many fuses blown. Thanks for showing us how to jump it. A neighbour had a dead battery and we couldn't find the + terminal in the engine bay lol

    Blown fuses, especially for the ECU, indicates almost certainly that somebody attempted to jump start the vehicle and reversed the leads. It probably has a blown ECU (and probably several other modules.)

      On older Mercs getting the leads wrong way round would almost always blow the OVP (overvoltage protection relay), hopefully there's something similarly sacrificial in this car too.

    If he has extended warranty with Toyota then he will have breakdown cover with the AA or RAC so he's should 100% pay your callout charge but I bet he knows we wouldn't touch it and send it straight to Toyota who would find out he has damaged the ecu and tell him the warranty won't coved that.
    He was hoping you would fix it and avoid involving Toyota.

    Hi what do you think if the ECU has been fried due to the customer jump starting the car by putting the black terminal of the jump lead on the positive and the red lead on the negative maybe because that can fry the ECU which means no signal at all.

  • @Christophergriffiths1972
    @Christophergriffiths1972 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    In my experience doing this on a daily basis, customers never tell you the whole story. He’s probably tried jump starting himself and blown everything. I’ve seen it so many times.

    We have an Auris Tourer and we now have Flat battery problems which started due to lack of use during CONVID. Toyota release a video showing how to turn on the power once a week to keep the 12 volt battery charged but its a pain in the Arse because you can't get into the boot to get at the battery to put a booster on, due to the electronic locks. So you have to climb in with the rear seats folded down

      My problem exactly, with my 2014 Auris Tourer. I'm nearly 80 and climbing into the back to connect the trickle charger is quite an effort! Most recent incident yesterday - I managed to get the battery charged, and the car started, but the boot door still won't open. Starting to have nightmares about this car!!

      @@faygray4939 Before we leave the car for any length of time I charge the 12 volt battery in the boot overnight and It seems to work. Just been to Spain for 17 days. Left the car at Stanstead out doors and it started on the button, BUT I also bought a Lithium Booster pack which is always left in the car. Work with what you got

    I'm interested to know how to diagnose an issue with my own 2012 auris hybrid, which is not the same as this exactly, but if anyone reading this has any light to shed on it, I'd be grateful!
    The car often takes a few attempts to start. I do everything correctly (foot on brake, key fob near the button, press the button) but it's only on certain occasions that it starts first time (i.e. 2-3 seconds to boot up and be ready to drive). Other times, I get noises, and some dashboard lights, but often nothing. I don't know if it's a key fob issue (I've tried fresh batteries in the fob, and I don't ever get the "key fob battery low" warning) or if it's an issue with the battery in the boot (not the hybrid battery, which I believe is tucked away under the back seat or something?)
    We even took it to a guy who was able to run battery tests on the hybrid battery because we thought it might be that they were failing, but he said they were all in good condition, and not degraded.
    Low mileage car (4k/year), does mostly short commutes of 2-3 miles.

  • @dunhillmelon
    @dunhillmelon ปีที่แล้ว +1

    With so many blown fuses Did you change the main fuse to the junction box (one of the bigger fuses with clear cover)this is a safety for the issue of wrong polarity jump start)

  • @wimschoenmakers5463
    @wimschoenmakers5463 ปีที่แล้ว

    If it was not for those blown fuses, I would suggest that the AC-DC convertor is not working, but this is not normal for a Auris Hybrid. Those cars are normally bulletproof ! I also had twice a dead 12 Volt battery in my Auris, but after putting 12 Volt on the fusebox, the car starts running again. Never a problem. I think also, they tryed to start the car with a running donor car. 🤣

    the jump point in fuse box is mealy to wake up the ecu /lights etc so only requires about 10amps 12v just make sure all lights off and interior light off as the are also taken from 12v battery then touch start button with turns on ignition once on the main hybrid battery takes over and charges the 12v battery .if you got in park and apply accelerator pedal half way it should start run few mins then cut out from cold reapply accelerator pedal it will restart but keep cutting out ,been to lots of flat batteries on these never use booster as can spike the system ,this is also why if 12v battery has bad cell don't attempt to start this applies to any car ,,,,possibly blow b4 you got to it as I've seen this b4 ...ps don't pull seats apart touching high voltage systems ,there's a point to stoping and have proper training and equipment and environment ,that' point i let the trained professionals get involved ....noticed you trying key fob as far as I'm aware you cannot use the key fob inside the car also doors need to all be shut and I'm sure there is a door lock button in car to open boot with once you give 12v to jump point you use the button to open boot .to get to the battery .. i always open and shut all doors to resync remote if key fob don't respond .all cars are different but these things work most times.

    Hi i have done few of these with similar issue and turn out to be one of the three relays got stuck open next to the big hybrid battery. You have to remove rear seat n metal cage to get access. The issue is when the stuck open they also drain the hybrid battery n if the voltage drops below 200v the car wont start n go in ready state until you charge the hybrid battery also.

    • @ORileysAutos
      @ORileysAutos  ปีที่แล้ว

      So how do you raise the voltage in the hybrid battery?
      And the central locking didn't work or boot won't open even with power at 12v battery

    • @ziadafzal

      You need a grid charger to charge hybrid battery. Central locking is different issue but once u got 12v jump start hooked up . U can use the unlocking button on driver door n then the boot will open. On your video it seems like the key is not for this car or need to be relearn to the car

    Just please ALWAYS connect the positive lead FIRST and only then the negative lead of the booster or donor battery. Disconnect - vice versa: first minus and only then plus. Otherwise, you can, in case of an accidental short circuit "+" to ground, get, at least, blown fuses and, in an unfortunate case, inoperative dashboard devices.

    For many years Honestjon on his website warned about jump starting Toyota hybrids, said something about it not being as straightforward as just connecting up a jump pack and away you go, yes it would often start the car but he stressed that serious long term damage could easily result.
    I too think there's more to this one than you've been told.
    Seriously? owner must think you're operating a charity note expecting to pay for your time and call out.

  • @MrZimmaframe
    @MrZimmaframe ปีที่แล้ว +1

    People need to bloody wake up, you have driven and been there for nearly 2 hours checking his car over and if his ecu has blown you can't obviously scan it. Some people need to fricking wake up and live in the real world. Things don't always work out how you want it and nothing is free in life.
    There is something more serious with the car with all them blown fuses and it will most likely need to go back to Toyota.

    These piles of rubbish are definately nothing like the Toyotas of old that kept going on and on and on and on. They're the ones that Toyota built their name and reputations on, not these pieces of junk thrown together in a factory in Derby.
