My wolfdog logan passed away in my arms on 14/04/2020 at 5pm. He battled illness for a few years so i had given up my job to care for him. He was my best friend and i miss him immensely. These are beautiful sentient beings. Rest in peace logan. I will see you again.
@@WaKey_WaKey456 thank you. I'm doing OK now, in February I got a Czech wolfdog puppy. He's 10 months now. I put up a few videos. Feel free to have a look.
@dremoric importation from Europe. However there's also the lycan shepherd and blue bay shepherds in America. And some older sled dog lineages available. All in America. Although the Czech wolfdog from certain lines is going to have a better temperment more often.
Very occasionally it's necessary, yes. But the vast majority of the time, it's not. It's just because of human selfishness and a throw-away mentality towards animals.
It’s better to give them up to a shelter then to leave them on the side of the road, leave them at dumpster sites and other horrible places that people do
Only seven weeks ago we adopted a Czech Wolfsdog. The previous owner - who we did not know - passed away and her sister could only temporarily take care of the dog (eight years old). It took the dog two days to make a beginning with accepting us two as her new pack. Two days in which she just layed on her cushion, staring into space, not eating or drinking and going through the motions when we took her out for a walk. After two days we saw she started opening up and we started this very interesting period of daily discoveries with eachother. What she liked or not, what we would allow or not, etcetera. Now, seven weeks in (not "months and months and months"), there is complete trust and she really knows we're now the pack. We trust her to walk without a leash in designated areas and it's clear she has full focus on us wherever we go. She's a real sweetheart: very easy going at the vet for a checkup and introducing her with our parents and best friends went ridiculously well. She's already a golden addition to our lives and I tend to think she feels the same way. :-)
With wolf dogs that are older socialization can be hard. There's certain things that also depend on the exact wolf dog hybrid and even in stabilized hybrid breeds there's variance in wolf genes and dog genes. You can try and cheer them up with some treats and show just you care and such. If you have multiple people in the house take turns staying near the dog and showing it you have concern and caring for it.
Thank you! I’ve raised several wolf-dogs and this is such truthful and powerful information. Wolf-dogs are really, really not suitable for most people. They ARE beautiful and very loyal but have so many special challenges. You inform the masses in a kind and intelligent way.
I've grown up around dogs, I love dogs, and I will never understand how anyone could abandon them. I also really appreciate the time you put into the harnessing tips. I started doing the same after I had my dog weasel out of her collar on our walk to the vet.
I was born in Czechoslovakia I own this dog's and also been in Slovakian Army as dog handler with this breed and German shepherds too... really nice video you made
I was supposed to get a Malamute-Wolf hybrid but the puppies were stolen including WT , White-tip, my choice and the pick of the litter. In retrospect it's probably a good thing as I ended up getting my first Malinois-GSD rescue who was absolutely solid and brilliant, learning verbal and visual commands faster than any dog I've had since. He was not a barker, very reserved yellow eyed shepherd size dog that was on his last day at a shelter that kills a lot of unwanted dogs. I remember talking to him the first time I saw him sitting at the back of the kennel he was in and he would not repond, he just stared at me. I then looked at over a hundred other dogs there and went back to see him after an hour. I kneeled down and talked to him, asking if he liked the name Bud and wanted to come home with me. After half a minute he came up and leaned against the cage door and gave me full eye contact letting me scratch his neck and ears. Best dog ever it turned out and a bargain at $45 as he was on his last day there. He lived over 13 years. Good dog! Love you, Anneka!
Anneka Svenska - My latest greatest GSD shown to the left is lying at my feet exhausted from a day at our local Dog Beach fetching her tennis balls and playing with her dog friends. She is very content, as am I. What could better?
It is very good that you insisted about what happen when being abandoned. BRAVO. And it is always important to remember that a dog IS NOT a present to a child for Christmas.
i had one... yours is veeeery good looking. If i ever have a house, i will get one again. Its the perfect dog, the best one. About guarding - i cant agree - they have very strong pack sense. Wolves guard their pack members, puppies especially. So CZwolfdogs even guards kids and ofc they guard you if they have you as a member of your pack (but they really guard kids strongly). I had a female, and she was very great even with a small kids. She even guarded a baby buggy when the kid slept outside in summer. She just layed near it.
That’s said about the Rhodesian Ridgeback too, that they are incredible with kids. One of my friend’s Ridgebacks let her children hold on to his back as the child learnt to walk and the child would often be found snuggled up with one of her 5 male dogs. Sounds idyllic, but, i think it’s a general statement, there is a lot left to personality within every breed. My boy RR adored kids, my girl, ugh, not at all. ☺️
It's like she said. They all vary. Every dog is different and has a slightly different personality to other dogs. Even if they are of the same bred. So some are timid and not good guard dogs. Others, like you said, are very protective and are the opposite. All depends on the environment they are raised in.
Thank you for the video, it's very reassuring to see there's someone to advise future csw owners outside the country of origin (back in the country of origin there is very very strong community always ready to help newbies, even a facility to shelter agressive or traumatized csws - I can't imagine how hard it must be outside the borders of central Europe or Italy). However, I must disagree with three of your sentences. "Someone who works from home or can take the wolfdog with them to work." - Actually, most breeders strongly don't recommend this. Csw tends to have separation anxiety, this is a problem and taking them everywhere is basically supporting the problem. You should teach your wolfdog to be alone ever since you get him. If you do that, they will be able to wait at home till you get from work. Sure you can take them with you, but anytime there is an issue - health problems, change of work, or even a holiday - every solution is extremely stressfull both for the dog and for you. "Someone who can have more than one dog for company" - I know mostly owners of one csw only, and it's not a problem for the dog at all. Of course, they need the activity, they need to socialize with the dogs they like from time to time, but they don't need another furry pack member :) My csw girl I got from the shelter, she's actually a little annoyed by the csw male we got later. She loves him and plays with him a lot, but she always blooms like a flower when I take her somewhere for a few days and it's just us :D "Someone with older children or none at all" Well, with enough sensibility, it's not a problem. There is many families with small children and csws. They can be very gentle and caring towards them. Naturally, you can't let the child do stressful or painful things to them and let them have that one sanctuary-place where they can go when they've had enough of children. But I guess this is a must for any dog breed. Both my wolfdogs love children and are protective of them - even if they're not directly ours, and we never introduced them to any as a pups. "Someone with a large, fenced garden" I totally agree - if you intend to keep them on the garden alone. There's many csws though who live happily in flats or are allowed to the garden only with their owner. Flats are really not that much of a bad environment for a wolfdog, as they anyway spend most of their time literally within a radius of 1m away from you :D Naturally, providing enough fun for them and (at least) long long walks. Anyway, keep doing your amazing videos. Your dogs are real beauties!
Karin Najmanová hello, i have the opportunity to get a quarter wolf dog and im on the fence. I live in an apartment but i would walk him every day. Do you recommend for an apartment regardless?
I own a Czeckoslovakian Wolfdog. Anneka is right on the money describing these dogs. They are stuborn and curious. You need allot of experience handling this type of dog. This breed is not for someone that has no experience with this breed. To own a dog like this, you need to understand wolf behavior. The Czekoslovakian Vlcak or wolfdog is a primative breed and will love members of the pack. You and other family members will become their pack. If raised from a pup they do get along with small dogs. These dogs have a very strong bond with their owners.
My friend Karel Hartl is the inventor of the successful Czechoslovakian wolfdog. He was a military dog expert, 95years old ,and now lives in Prague's arrondisement.
I am from slovakia they were created to guard bordes of czechoslovakia (socialism) and they were trained as biting and guarding dogs but now you are able to remove those instinkts and they are kinda good pet and you can get them but russian wolfdog you can not because of russia army
You know, contrary to popular misconception, there's no shame in admitting you're not a brutal monster. While watching this vid, my husky was next to me, and I lost few tears in that part of vid, looking at her and just trying to imagine... On the topic of Czechoslovakian wolfdogs, I presume they're what's called "Vlciak" in that language (as the root of that word is wolf, and I'm not aware of additional breeds like that, as that's exactly what the army was using), and the dog on video looks literally nothing like that (though, she admits, this one is from some Italian line). I'm not talking just the coat color, but face and general features too. I can, however, make out few features of the wolf (as I once encountered a wolf pack in that region), as during the vid, the dog made select few subtle/little gestures/poses that only wolves do.
Vlčák correctly refers to this breed, and ovčák is a German Shepherd, but many people who are not really into dogs will call anything that is shepherdlike or wolflike a vlčák. The Italian lines are not different enough from the Czech and Polish ones to be unrecognizable. There are going to be differences between males and females, and between summer and winter coats which can make individuals appear to represent different types rather than standard variation.
Ironsix6six Yes, Anneka really touched on the importance of irresponsible dog abandonment enough to also move my heart, although not to tears. I’m no canine owner (yet), but I know what animal hurt looks like up close.
I'm addicted with these episodes by Anneka. It's very nice to be introduce to different breeds. She's also unbiased. Love each of these dog breeds featured in each episode.
Same here about dogs. I could never ever leave my dog. Equally for me and her (the dog). Because dogs are pack animals. You are your dog's pack, they also would never abandon me. As she said, your are your dog's whole world. Cats are different. I might hate the idea of leaving my cat, but that's because of me, not because of the cat. I'm gonna miss the cat. The cat just doesn't care.
I know,I have never abandoned any creature ,let alone any of my dogs or cats . People who think thats OK simply have not really thought through getting one in first place .my folks had dogs ,Never one was abandoned . My father was in the Air force.we moved a lot ,n so did the dogs,my father was twice based overseas ,we and my mother stayed because of the dogs ;-) My father would have never wanted to get rid of our dogs to go with him..we would see him on leave every 3 months. The dogs went absolutely nuts when came home.
Please please please Please make more videos like this about different (wolf) dogbreeds! They are so amazing and very helpful! I really love them, keep up the Great vids!!!
I have a 6 year-old CZW named Helli, and we enjoyed the video. We live in the Czech Republic and know other wolfdogs, and we liked the parts about what kind of person should own a wolfdog and about NEVER abandoning wolfdogs, but we did have a few kibbles, er, quibbles. I cannot imagine ever attaching such powerful animals to my body. When they see something that they really want to run after, they have the element of surprise, and the owner is going to face-plant on the ground, or worse, asphalt. Cats are not such a problem as this video makes them out to be, and in my experience, CSWs choose their friends and non-friends among dogs by temperament rather than size. Good-natured, energetic dogs that can run around with them are the best. They are lovely with kids, but one thing that I've really worried about at times are young children of guests. You know: little ones who don't have any sense at all and would like to stick their fingers into the dog's eyes. No matter what the child's mother says about them being OK with animals (while she is distractedly checking her phone), you must watch them constantly, because who knows what they would do if a kid bit their ear or tried to gouge out their eye? They will, however, defend children against adult aggressors. One time, we had a mother and daughter here, and the mother was loudly telling the 8-year-old off. Helli walked over quietly, then reared up and showed the mother her teeth. She got the point, and told her daughter that they would continue the discussion at home. CSWs also recognize their own kind, and it's great to socialize them with others. You will see atavistic wolf behaviors and instincts emerge that are fascinating.
I saw one of these at a customer's home and said "aren't you the one w the wolf dog?" He said "no it's a Czech shepherd. " which is a German shepherd crossed w a wolf. So he had no idea and I was right. Thanks. Beautiful and very friendly dog
one of my best friends is a Czechoslovakian wolfdog and I agree with everything you said 💚. He's great even with small children, incredibly patient and careful. We get on really well. The only problem with him is that he constantly whines (when he's bored, excited, impatient or when he just wants to be cuddled), which drives his owners crazy sometimes. 😆There's a video of the two of us on my channel if anyone is interested :)
I once got home for work and back then, I was still living with my parents, and a miserably skinny black Belgian shepherd was desperately trying to get some food from our cats and dogs (two Labrador retrievers). I slowly gave hum some food and started to gain its respect. To this day, I never had a dog that cared so much for me. And although he was a full adult dog, he was easy to train. For some odd reasons, dogs tend to like me (except for some small dogs) but he was way beyond amazing. He was smart as hell and really fun to be around, except when I woke up and found several dead chickens by the rear porch. Right now I share my small studio with a cat (half Turkish Angora) and I love her but as soon as I move to a bigger place, and have time to train a dog properly, I want another Belgian Shepherd or similar. I prefer to adopt but Belgian Shepherds are not that common over here, so I'll have to do my best. Buying is not an option with so many abandoned dogs. I honestly, don't think I would have the knowledge or personality to have a Czech wolfdog but again, my brother had a beast of a Rottweiler and she was as sociable as my Labradors... he really trained her well.
Your dogs are gorgeous. I love the personalities of these dogs. I've had German Shepherds all during my childhood so I know the breed very well. Then as an adult I've had Malamutes. Thank you for doing this video to make dog owners be responsible for their furbabies.
I adopted one of these amazing dogs from my friend who couldn't care for him and you wouldn't believe how loving and loyal they are. They're very athletic though and they need a lot of walks. Also yes, their intelligence is nothing short of incredible. If you do not have time to dedicate to them, then please look somewhere else. DO NOT get any animal if you are not ready to commit to them for life.
Kumi is just breathtaking. I really can see the beautiful bond you have with her. This was a really informative video. Thank you for introducing me to this breed.
I love how you think ahead to protect your " loved ones " from possible situations where the ignorance of Man is a HUGE problem!!!! Knowing the behavior of Hybrids or just Dogs on general.... They do what dogs do..... They can bite out of fear; not necessarily out of agreession... Unfortunately Man as a rule doesnt care why, only that someone is bitten.... So saving their lives by being ULTRA cautious with redundancies is SUPER WISE!!! It means that you love them very much!!! Thank you for sharing..... Enjoy your day....
Thank you so much for making this video. This is such an interesting breed, and it's always great to see people who really understand them taking wonderful care of their needs. I think people are often very quick to adopt animals without having any serious idea of what they're getting themselves into. Moreover, people often adopt animals without considering their ability to take care of for them in the long run and what that commitment means for that dog. Is absolutely terrible to see any dog abandoned by their pack and family, but for some dogs that experience is life shattering and leaves a permanent mark on them that may very well be their demise. I don't think people consider that such lack of foresight results of the actual death of animals and they abandon. Thank you for taking the time to send that message out. The more people understand the full scope of the impacts that they have on the dog and that the dog has on them, the better things will go for this breed as a whole. It's a huge responsibility that comes with great reward, but is not for everyone.
My dad was doing his military service when this breed was just starting. They had several of the first ones in the place where he was stationed. Some interesting stories he told me too. I wish I could have one of these magnificent dogs one day but I am not ready for such a commitment yet. Plus we have several cats which probably wouldn't end up well. :D
It must be so wonderful to be loved by all these sacred souls... I dream of being the friend/owner/caretaker for one of these wolfdogs one day (even more but best to start with one) . What an amazing job you did for nature, life in general, and sharing your experiences with them. Thank you for the inspiring videos.
I watched your several videos , You are very good in expressing 'whatever' you have in your mind . Your way of talking , your accent , your body language , all are awesome. In whole you are pretty adorable.
They are not perfectly bread. Have you been listening to the video? These dogs are unpredictable because of the wolf. They are like any other sled dogs, hard to train, pack mentality, very energetic and etc.
Thank you once again for some very informative information I really appreciate it thank you I really like the wolf dog I thought I seen one today in a vehicle on the road I pulled up beside and that dog look just like yours it was beautiful you can see the wildness in his eyes though keep them coming we love them videos you give us very good information and you keep us on our toes and that is a very beautiful animal you have there
*Never give up on a wolf dog* thank you. Im saving one right now. He was dying in the desert in California. After 2 days. It feels like he been with us for many yrs. (He under 1 yr old)
Great video! I also really the part about abandoning them, people need to hear that. I can answer YES to all questions except kids may be in the household in the near future so like you said, maybe at a later time. Beautiful dog!
Anneka, THANK YOU SO MUCH for your amazing videos ! Your love for dogs and animals is so evident, I wish the rest of the world shared some of your passion. If anyone abandons their dog, they don't deserve to be called human. Kumi is so cuuuute ! Congrats !!
Kumi is all like "You know what, I see the camera, I'm just going to be the complete opposite of the skittish energetic dog that doesn't like brushes she's describing! That'll show 'er!"
Trust me it's not just the owner with wolfdogs- we have a 40.3% Saarloos crossed with an American wolfdog...and he's definitely destructive sometimes. He's got a really cheeky personality! He absolutely knows he's not supposed to- and we tried chew toys, bones and pretty much every training technique under the sun. These days he rarely does it- he's 18 months now. But trust me if he has a mood- we know he will do it again. The other day he chewed the edge of his dog bed again- but when he does that we take all the bedding away and don't leave him in the house alone. Our wolfdog is also really, really, really excited when we meet anyone on walks, or even in the house. Whereas most wolfdogs are a little timid...He's extremely socially smart however and adjusts his excitement based on the person or animal and never plays rough with kids or puppies or older people. I compare having a wolfdog to having a very large, smart cat, he can only be asked nicely to do things- not told...AND he can't be tricked- unless you tell him two choices- a good option and a less good option and then let him decide. EVERYTHING with a wolfdog is about love and respect... and for anyone considering getting one- I say---make sure you never leave them alone for more than a couple of hours and you're ready to spend 2-4 hours a day doing games, training and walking.
HELLO FROM ISRAEL :-) You are amazing! I've been raising dogs for about 41 years. Since I was 5. My first was a real wolf just like from the forest. Colors of black and light gray. I was able to handle it and tame alone. Later, I had a special German shepherd who came to me when he was 3, after being abused until this stage. After two weeks the dog ate out of my hand and listened only to me very much. In addition, he trusted me about other people who tried to approach him. And other dogs, some mixed breeds. The last of these - Piranay is involved with English Pointer. Born and passed away in my hands at the age of 14 (98 Dog years!). He Weighed 55 kg, and had the appearance of a piranay, with character partly piranay and many of the pointer. He was an alpha dog. I trained him so good, to the point, that I talked to him like a human being, and he did and understood everything. Your dedication is noteworthy. I follow your videos and learn a lot. THANK YOU SOOO MUTCH! XOXOX
Czech Republic is by far my favorite country in the world... About cats and dogs : I'll tell you I've had cats and a dog : The love, the fun, well everything my dog ( mix Golden Retriever - Labrador ) gave to me was infinitely above what my cats gave... As I'm suffering since years of very severe anxiety disorders : just listening ( by putting my head on her chest ) to her breath and her heartbeat : in a few minutes she brought me into a relaxing mode I've never ever had experienced in my life and with that I had the greatest naps you can dream of. Dogs also are the best natural medicines in the world. I'll never ever own a cat again : Dogs all the way. Yet my dog was quite destructive and was a cat hater big time. I also love wolves but I know I'll never ever be able to own an Arctic Wolf as it's forbidden. Yet it's been a long while I had a dog ( had to leave my dog in 2007 ) : I miss having one ! Kumi is gorgeous but I don't think I'll be able to own a Czechoslovakian wolfdog as you say, it's a dog that needs loads of exercices : I'm suffering since I'm a kid of very unstable knee caps prone to dislocations and don't worry about abandoning : I'm very faithful : I'll never ever think about abondoning my dog. And Kumi always leave you some "souvenirs" on your clothes : hahahahahaha. What I know I prefer by far big dogs to small dogs. Give from me loads of hugs and kisses to Kumi ! Jérémie ( Belgian by accident )
I loved this video. We have a pack of Siberian Huskies, and we love them. My heart broke when you talked about them being heartbroken when abandoned. I could not imagine giving up one of our huskies.
Czechoslovakian Wolf dogs sound like they work 50/50, some good as pets and some aren't. I tell you what they have one thing in common they look so beautiful.
From all the videos and research that I have done so far on this breed of wolfdog they seem comparable to a heeler in smarts and the fact that they get bored easily and need the super amount of exercise. I love the breed and can't wait until I can actually get one!!
Love this show. Only saw it for the first time yesterday. Now binge watching. It's so refreshing to see and hear honesty. The Good and the 'bad' and 'ugly'. And wow what a beautiful dog. Have been thinking to get me a wolfdog for years (esp. the Saarloos for I'm Dutch), such incredible beautiful dogs but it's a handfull and perhaps (sadly) not for me. Working from home (ideal) don't mind an independent streak (actually I love it) (again ideal) but lots of visitors, including children (not so ideal). Thanks you very much and keep up the brilliant work !
What is calls CZECHOSLOVAKIAN WOLFDOG, is mix a Carpathian wolf and German Shepherd. It was breeded in Tatra mountains in Slovakia. It's a Slovakian wolf dog. Czechs don't have wild wolves. However, it took meany generations and years to achieve the goal.
Awwww...that's my favourite dog. I live in the Middle East where it's not easy to find such breeds. I was lucky to have seen one in real life during my visit to Prague. I have always wanted to know more about these dogs. I love the Volkosby too and would one day want to see one. Thank you for uploading this video
I offered two of these wonderful creatures to my parents. Both had been abandoned on the side of the road together and i got them both from the shelter where nobody wanted to adopt them because of their size and because as you pointed it so accurately they had become a little aggressive from the trauma of abandonment and probably the mistreatment they suffered from prior to that . I am a vet and ethologist so i kept them in a private part of the garden where they had enough space to run free and gave them enough time to realize that the worst was behind them , and that they would get treated properly from now on, that they would never lack food and attention and since my parents were staying with me at that time in Switzerland for 6 months while their house was being worked on. I made them feed and take care of these two beauties the whole time . After only a month and half the dogs had adopted my mother and they adopted my father soon after as family and vice versa . It took a few weeks to make the paperwork to make sure they could easily and quickly travel with them back home and then my parents changed their plane ticket to ship tickets and i drove them all to northern Ireland through the channel and ferry and then they took then we all took a nice cruise from Ireland to Iceland where they new home was waiting . (it was before Brexit, things were a lot easier to carry animals across boarders ., especially in the UK , but I also work for the WAP based in London so this helped a lot. They are now happily living in Iceland , they love the weather (Iceland is not as cold as people think) they have never shown any aggressivity and are the best companions to my parents . As a vet and ethologist and also animal rights activist and shelter owner i have to agree with everything said in this video . I also want to ask people to please PLEASE get animals from a shelter not from a shop , not even from breeders as many are extremely bad (i am talking about the breeders , all pet shops are bad) . Shelters should ALWAYS be your first choice when it comes to adopting an animal . And when you adopt an animal it is like giving birth to your kid, this is for life , you must NEVER consider abandoning them as an option. Think thoroughly before you adopt an animal and if you are not ready to commit entirely to them for the next decade or more (depending on their lifespan) don't get one . Adopting an animal is a privilege and a responsibility , if you can't accept the full responsibility of it, then you are undeserving of the privilege . This is as simple as that . And also if you can drop the meat from your diet, it will only make your life and life in this planet a lot better . Plus you'll save he economy . But that's another topic .
In about 6 years this will be the dog im getting. I have a yellow stray around 10 years old now. Very sweet. Never snarled or growled except when a dog growled at me in a pet store. She just growled and the other dog just stopped and looked at its owner.
The way she described the temperament of these two dogs reminds me of my late Siberian husky. She was as friendly as her male dog but wouldn’t have been a good guard dog. I used to joke that if a burglar broke into my apartment she would’ve tried to befriend them.
Top Footage, and a loveable interaction between a beautiful wolf dog and a human person!.. I like Czech and Tamaskan-outcrosses very much!... thank you Anneka!
I live in the Czech republic and we have two cats, small dog and czechoslovakian wolfdog Kira and she is really gentle to them all i think that she respect them as part of pack. But like you said, these dogs are really energic and need a lot of atention and they are really distrustful to all unknown people. Generally this isn't dog for newbee but when you great them corectly they will bring a lot of love and fun to your family.
Well, it's time for a moment we revert back to Monoural left-channel only sound. Back to the days where you could listen to the sports & news with one ear, and speak to your friend with the other. Multitasking!
Anneka, I found out the Canaan is alot like the Czechoslovakian wolfdog. You don't want to abandon a Canaan either. When I had to go on a business trip to work on networking for 3 weeks around the state of New Mexico, I had to put Red my Canaan in boarding cuz I had no one to watch him at home. I made a promise to him I would come back and get him. I also called the boarder every afternoon when I was done with my job. When I came back in and picked up my Red, boy was he so happy to see me, we both cried from missing each other.
perfect video :) my Tajga love barf. She is 3months old puppy of Czechoslovakian wolfdog. We are from Slovakia and this is our national breed ;) so decision to buy new dog was so easy for me :)) love her so much :) she is definitely trainable and so smart! :)))
In terms of the statements, depending on the wolfdog it can work if you work close to home and like me have two two hour shifts with a two hour break in between.
The belt for 2 dogs is most probably a bad idea. 1 single dog, spooked enough is more than what a grown man can handle. My neighbor has a husky, a czech wolf and a GSD. Super gentle all of them, they know all the neighbors and our pets, never had a single problem... until the day a fox turned up in the village. The Czech wolf was on his hand and the other 2 tied to his belt. He almost broke his bones being dragged down the street. It's a huge no for me.
I see your sarcasm, but theoretically it's doable. Problem is, that if you take away the pup from the pack before 8-10 weeks, it'll live a miserable life, as it won't have the basic social and psychological skills it would have otherwise obtained (especially anxiety). And after 10 weeks, well - at that point it's practically a wolf - so not sure if I would let it sleep in same bed, and probably wouldn't dare to wake it up when it's having a nightmare :)That's the reason why people crossbreed them with huskys (and other breeds) - to make it more manageable, yet retain the charm.
Karim : Yeah, these ones on the vid look beautiful, playful and adorable, riiight ? I, actually have an adrenaline experience of encountering a hungry wolf pack in the dead of the winter, in the middle of the night, and let me tell you, it's not fun if you know that this particular pack tore other people before (those gory "cry wolf" stories in our village had concrete families and names attached to it - such was the reality of that hilly region). Now, I was lucky, as I was 18 at the time, quite tall and bigger , so the alpha wolf must have realized I would be a tough target (though, I would really have no chance if the other ~7 wolves behind him attacked, had he decided to do so). He was getting closer to me slowly, and the closest he got was about ~5-7 meters, all this time staring me down and evaluating, while his pack behind him was going absolutely crazy - as I was probably the only potential meal they smelled in last month (not much deer in that region, mostly foxes and similar). After about 20 minutes of walking with me he turned back, as I approached the village. No Hollywood movie has ever captured the teething growling wolf stare like it actually happened. It's one thing seeing it in the NatGeo documentary (for few seconds), and quite another experiencing it yourself, up close and personal, in total darkness, with those eyes glowing few meters from you. :)
Very good and useful video, thank you. I fell in love with Czechoslovakian wolfdogs from the first sight and I'm gathering all the information I can get prior to the final decision and getting one.
Thanks for the Video and the information about your wolfdog! I'm glad there are Person like you who tell people about these kinds of dogs and show people how important it is to know who is the right owner for these dogs! Always a pleasure to watch your very interesting videos and thanks for your work ! Great Job! Thumps up
My wolfdog logan passed away in my arms on 14/04/2020 at 5pm. He battled illness for a few years so i had given up my job to care for him. He was my best friend and i miss him immensely. These are beautiful sentient beings. Rest in peace logan. I will see you again.

Although the Czech wolfdog from certain lines is going to have a better temperment more often.

"You never give up on a wolfdog"
I say: You never give up on any dog!
Very occasionally it's necessary, yes. But the vast majority of the time, it's not. It's just because of human selfishness and a throw-away mentality towards animals.
@@SheThatHathFallen a lot of dogs cant be rehomed because of there bond with the old owner
It’s better to give them up to a shelter then to leave them on the side of the road, leave them at dumpster sites and other horrible places that people do

People who do that, want the dog to die & not help him.

I was born in Czechoslovakia I own this dog's and also been in Slovakian Army as dog handler with this breed and German shepherds too... really nice video you made
What a beautiful wolfdog I've never seen any so beautiful
Daryl Weston thankyou for sharing that story

She looks so happy with the glove brushing thing!
The moment you start to mentioned the abandonment I teared up...seeing that wolf dog sleeping soundly and secure, reminds me of my late Sheaperd.
She just layed near it.
how to get one
Well i had a german shepherd growing up was a amazing dog and form what i hear they are german sheperds just more protective and loyal is that true
I want a wolf. I have a 70lb sammy
"Someone who works from home or can take the wolfdog with them to work."
- Actually, most breeders strongly don't recommend this.
"Someone who can have more than one dog for company"
- I know mostly owners of one csw only, and it's not a problem for the dog at all. Of course, they need the activity, they need to socialize with the dogs they like from time to time, but they don't need another furry pack member :) My csw girl I got from the shelter, she's actually a little annoyed by the csw male we got later. She loves him and plays with him a lot, but she always blooms like a flower when I take her somewhere for a few days and it's just us :D
"Someone with older children or none at all"
Well, with enough sensibility, it's not a problem.
"Someone with a large, fenced garden"
I totally agree - if you intend to keep them on the garden alone.
@@CHopkins73 you could always use dog daycare for him to play
Anyone who is able to buy such a breed for an apartment is a moron for me. Better get that parody of a dog called a chihuahua.
"Where the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog comes from?"
Seriously?
Made in the PRC ;)
From Slovakia and Czech republic
I was like.. do they not come from Czechoslovakia? LMAO I wouldn’t be surprised since Australian Shepherds don’t actually come from Australia
My friend Karel Hartl is the inventor of the successful Czechoslovakian wolfdog. He was a military dog expert, 95years old ,and now lives in Prague's arrondisement.
I am from slovakia they were created to guard bordes of czechoslovakia (socialism) and they were trained as biting and guarding dogs but now you are able to remove those instinkts and they are kinda good pet and you can get them but russian wolfdog you can not because of russia army
omg part about abandoning them ;_;
IM NOT CRYING I SWEAR
XD
That made me so sad to hear, and I dont even have a dog :(
Ironsix6six Yes, Anneka really touched on the importance of irresponsible dog abandonment enough to also move my heart, although not to tears. I’m no canine owner (yet), but I know what animal hurt looks like up close.
I'm addicted with these episodes by Anneka. It's very nice to be introduce to different breeds. She's also unbiased.
Love each of these dog breeds featured in each episode.
OMG the wolfs here in Slovakia looks absolutely like Kumi ! :O Its amazing how similiar is it to wolf but acts like puppy ♥ ♥ ♥
When you talked about abandoning your wolfdog, I cried becuase I cant picture ever doing that to my dogs or my cat :(
Same here about dogs.
My father was in the Air force.we moved a lot ,n so did the dogs,my father was twice based overseas ,we and my mother stayed because of the dogs ;-)
My father would have never wanted to get rid of our dogs to go with him..we would see him on leave every 3 months.
The dogs went absolutely nuts when came home.
She abandoned all of them 2 months later, when she went off to college. Jeje

Animal Watch , Yes, this was Superb & Beautiful 🐺 Dog.
I got my wolfdog when I had two cats and she’s actually done a great job at being gentle with them!
I’ve had wolf dogs and they have been fine with my cats, actually played well together.x
I do love the veranda where the video was filmed. Perfect place to chill.
one of my best friends is a Czechoslovakian wolfdog and I agree with everything you said 💚. He's great even with small children, incredibly patient and careful. We get on really well. The only problem with him is that he constantly whines (when he's bored, excited, impatient or when he just wants to be cuddled), which drives his owners crazy sometimes. 😆There's a video of the two of us on my channel if anyone is interested :)
my two whine when they want food - its really whiny and pitiful but quite funny

I would be honored to work with you.
I've heard of wolfdogs before but never researched them before. Thanks for the info.
Kumi is so calm and Mr.blue is so cute❤
She seems very happy to help with the video.
Super informative.
We all need to accept and normalize muzzles.

I have owned Tjechoslowakian wolfdogs and German shepards for about 15 years now,and i can relate to al you say about these encredible dogs.
Kumi is all like "You know what, I see the camera, I'm just going to be the complete opposite of the skittish energetic dog that doesn't like brushes she's describing! That'll show 'er!"
the dog is so very well trained. it's so calm and obedient.
What a very lucky dog to have such a caring owner ♥️♥️♥️
HELLO FROM ISRAEL :-)
You are amazing!
XOXOX
She seems so adorable. Wonderful dog !
Awesome video! Such an incredible dog, I loved how much detail was put into this video!

Kumi is beautiful, you can tell she loves you, however you can tell she's also very independent. Just beautiful.
Kumi is so adorable! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
They actually do get along with children as any other dogs, the children just can’t do anything bad to them.

One of your best animal watch episodes - so full of really great information!
I am friends with a german shepherd wolf mix, according to the owner I am his favorite human aside from the owner.
Such a sweetheart
Omg Kumi is just the most beautiful dog I have ever seen. I’m in love all ready unfortunately I don’t have room or the time for a dog right now.
They're so beautiful ❤
Greetings from Slovakia, I have Alaskan Malamute, my friend has some of these Czecholovakian wolfgogs, love them :)
I love wolves and wolf dogs and I'm hoping to get a Czechoslovakian wolf dog when I'm older.
If you work from home or can take to work go and get one they are a lot wilder than a dog
Csw are good dog guards. And you can train them too compared to any husky
Top Footage, and a loveable interaction between a beautiful wolf dog and a human person!.. I like Czech and Tamaskan-outcrosses very much!... thank you Anneka!
I'm from Czech republik and i love wolves and Czechoslovakia wolfdog realy look like Wolf 😍
I live in the Czech republic and we have two cats, small dog and czechoslovakian wolfdog Kira and she is really gentle to them all i think that she respect them as part of pack. But like you said, these dogs are really energic and need a lot of atention and they are really distrustful to all unknown people. Generally this isn't dog for newbee but when you great them corectly they will bring a lot of love and fun to your family.
the voice only out on my left earbud.
Same here I thought my headphone is broken 😂😂😂😂
Poor audio recording spoiling a decent vide0
If i turn my phone to landscape I loose half of the sound. 😳 Glad to see Your comment, thought my phone was broken.
Sweet!
My female HATES kennels - she has to go to a specialist kennels as she wont allow anyone to touch her while I am away
Great info here Anneka. Glad I'm not alone in being covered in fur all the time : ) Thank you .

Tajga je dobre meno. Ja som rozmyslal Vorix.
Thanks for the information Anneka along with Kumi for short and she is very beautiful for a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog.
Beautiful! I am a citizen of the Czech republic. Born in cold war Czechoslovakia.
Your wolfdogs are so adorableee
Such beautiful animals and the presenter is stunning
It's so beautiful , I love it . I adore wolves and their way of living . I wish I could have one
Go to a mountain, find one, take one home & Stay safe
Hiyam eaea yeah buddy that won’t go wrong at all.
