    Integral to the performance an tested alongside the new Select Cut 21" Mower was EGO's highest capacity 7.5 Ah battery, the BA4200T. The BA4200 weighs in at 6.31 lbs, boasts a 420 Wh capacity and can be recharged fully in 60 minutes with the EGO rapid charger
    What’s New With The EGO Select Cut Cordless Mower
    The EGO Select Cut mower has undergone a face lift on the outside and is sporting a few performance upgrades on the inside. E
    GO spent some time mulling over customer feedback that the mulching and bagging aspects of the mowers could be improved.
    NEW Dual Blade Feature
    The biggest upgrade to the 21" mower is the addition of a dual blade system. These two blades are coaxial meaning they share the same axis as opposed to a side by side that is common on larger commercial mower decks. The goal is to provide multiple layers of cuts to the grass resulting in finer clippings. The deck has also been redesigned to work more efficiently with the additional blade. For increased mulching performance a specialized EDGE TRI-Cut blade can be used. This blade was not available for our testing. At the heart of the mower is new upgraded brushless motor sporting 7.0 ft/lbs of torque. That’s up from 5.9 ft/lbs in the previous generation.
    The EGO Select Cut has moved all interface controls and information to the well design handle grip area. The mower has retained its predecessors 3 step motor safety activation process of holding down the power button and then pulling on the activation bar. The final two steps cannot be completed until the handle bar has been extended to its fullest length. On the dashboard of the handle bar is an on/off switch for the LED headlights (its quiet enough to run at night and not irritate the neighbors) which used to be located down be the battery housing.
    Additionally located on the right side is status indicator light with a convenient explanation diagram. The top bar houses all the self-propelled controls in one location. In the center is a variable dial to control the forward speed of the mower between 1.4 -3.6 mph. Two palm or thumb activated buttons rest on either side of the handle which enable one handed operation from either side.
    EGO claims up to 60 minutes of mowing time when paired with a 7.5 Ah battery. The mower can be operated without the optional powered drive feature to extend battery life. For battery performance I ran an endurance test that consisted of setting the self-propel to its highest/fastest and ran the mower until the battery depleted.
    The battery ran for 50 minutes before taping out. At a brisk pace of 3.6 miles per hour, I covered 3 miles of mowing! At 21" wide, that area covered equals 27.000+ sq. ft.
    Price
    The EGO LM2135SP will ship with a 7.5Ah battery and a550W charger. This package will cost $649 when it launches on December 31st.

    Bought my EGO mid spring this year and I love it. 21" self propelled. Its first tryout was trial by fire. My old gas mower died and I hadnt had time to mow my lawn for weeks until I got mine. Charged the battery, set the blade height to full height and threw the bagger on. It cut like a dream. Yeah, I was emptying my bag attachment quite often but my lawn looked just as good as my neighbor who had been keeping up with mowing. I never looked back. Best outdoor equipment I ever purchased. Have let friends borrow it and every 1 that tried it and bought 1 this year. They are just as happy. Now I just need to find 1 this spring that cant start their old gas mower, sell them mine and try the new 1. Thanks for sharing this new baby.

    I have not mowed my yard the last few seasons due to injuries. Just got the quote to mow my yard of $48 a week and it takes the company less than 15 minutes to mow my yard and I don't even love the mow they do. So just purchased this for a lighter self propelled mower to hopefully make mowing easier. Will pay for itself in 3 months of mowing. Got it from Lowes for 599 and it also came with an extra $300 battery.

    I Bought last years model. It’s a fantastic mower. I cleaned up a half acre of 2’ high weedy grass in about 4 hours. Self propelled made this much less exhausting. Hit lots of hidden branches and dips in the soil and the mower just kept going. I got about 2.5 hours on a full charge and took a 30 minutes break while it recharged. Finished the rest in 1.5 hours. I love how it folds up for storage.

    I just bought the LM2135SP Electric mower, my wife and I have been looking to replace our old mower, after looking at a lot of different mowers, we bit the bullet and got the Electric Mower, I just tried it out for about 10 minuets because of how late it is getting but from what I seen, Ya I like it!

    I have the 21" Gen 1 SP mower and combine the mulching and High Lift blades together in the similar configuration and it works well for mulching. Mulching blade along leave too many stranglers with less even cut and the High Lift along provides good even cut but leaves clumps everywhere when the grass is longer, together they works well with 25% additional drain on the battery.

    Fantastic review👌🏾 I actually have the very first mower they made, I was a very early adopter when it can out. I still have it and it’s amazing. It’s so much easier to keep the blade sharp and that’s very important. My back yard is about 16k square feet...I think 🤔 and I cut it on a single charge

    I’m hoping EGO comes out with a rider. My current riding mower is 15 years old. I still love it, but it’s LOUD, and always has been. I’ve looked into a new muffler since it was new, with no help. I don’t mind because of my noise cancelling headphones, but I’d like to give my neighbors a break. I already have the self winding EGO string trimmer, 1” cut capacity hedge trimmer and 580cfm blower, all of them I LOVE.

      The standard blade is a mulching blade; however, does not produce a lot of lift and that's why the sell a High Lift blade for bagging. Combine both blades together on the 21" Gen 1 SP mower it does produce similar result as Select Cut-Premium High Lift Tri-Cut setup.

    How does this battery technology work in this mower, does it gradually just looses power or does it just stop instantly when dead? I have a new Makita 18volt drill and the batteries don’t just gradually loose power, the drill just stops when it’s dead. It has the same amount of power right up to when it stops though, kind of nice. Thx

    • @Jeo-What
      @Jeo-What 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      lithium battery usually provides full torque power and then dead stop when it's depleted. the older battery technology will gradually loss torque power and slow down the motor as it drains to empty level. EGO use lithium battery and brushless motor on this unit so it will just stops when battery is depleted.

    • @slicktype001
      @slicktype001 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      JonDinCT - if you get heavy snow in your away, stay far away from the Ego snow blower.
      Unless you keep a gas power snow blower to compensate for the lack of weight, power and non existent self propelled (which to most if a must).
      My experience comes from last weeks snow fall here in the Boston area. It snowed with rain. Boy was that some heavy snow. Well come to find out, my clients property needed snow blowing and he just recently sold his Ariens and bought the Ego.
      Bad mistake! It took over 2hrs to snow blow his driveway, whereas the Ariens only took about 20 mins. Facts!
      Then again, it’s your choice. Don’t let reviews fool you.

    Does the self propel of the new Ego mower use a belt for the self propel, or an independent motor?

    • @Jeo-What
      @Jeo-What 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unlike Toro that is a belt driven system that drives both at the same time, EGO has two separate motors for mowing and propelling so you can self-propel without the blade motor running even when the handle is not fully extended. Great for transporting a full bag of fertilizer, dirt or even heavy loaded recycle bin without wasting battery power or making noise.

    I'd like to see mowers with a solar charger integrated onto them. Not to keep the battery fully charged like on an automobile, but just to extend the runtime a bit longer.

    • @billw1044
      @billw1044 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Autotech1, you need to investigate the output of photovoltaic cells. You will find that even on a bright sunny day you would need to tow a trailer, covered in PVCs, behind your EGO mower to even extend your mowing time by a few minutes. Remember, the 7.5 Ah battery that comes with this mower is only good for about one hour of mowing which is also all the charging time you get while mowing.

    • @AutotechWoodworking
      @AutotechWoodworking 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@billw1044 I guess what I should have said to appease some people, is that I would like to see solar charger technology advance to the point that they could be mounted to a lawn mower to provide a sufficient charge enough to extend the runtime of the lawn mower. I just figured that was TMI.

    Buyer beware. I'm sure this is a well made product based on reviews, but up until the Spring of 2020 no manufacturer of electric walk behind mowers made a full size walk behind mower. Notice the wording on the product or packaging. It states "deck size" not cut width. Do you want to trust many hundreds of dollars to companies who try to sell you a 21" mower that has a 19 3/8" cut. I can't speak for the quality of the new Toro 60 volt, but I can say that it has a 22" blade and that they make good and innovative products and they are an American company that produces more in America than any residential brand. Some will mention that the Toro brand of gas engines are Chinese made and that is true, but that ocurred because Briggs and Stratton bought out a pile of mower companies and being the only low-end small engine manufacturer on the planet, the competitors have been forced to find other options to power their mowers. If you want the first full size walk behind electric, check out the Toro 60 volt. If size doesn't matter, then sure, go for the Ego, but buyer beware, it is not a 21" mower and all competitors lie as well except for the new Toro 60 volt with a 22" blade.

    • @Jeo-What
      @Jeo-What 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Based on Toro V60 lawnmower reviewers, they all mentioned 21" 1/2 blade length on the Toro unit and build in Republic of China just like most of their gas mowers. No different than GM and Ford.
