I JUST bought one of these from a salvage store...brand new!! I had heard great things about this mower's battery longevity, which is important to me. After puttering around my lawn for half-hour on a FULL battery, the battery indicator showed just one bar left!! And, this was my FIRST TIME using the mower. 😑 I'm charging it now and will try again tomorrow...Hopefully, it will do better! 😬 I sure appreciate your video! This is my first time owning an electric mower. I am slowly converting over to almost ALL electric/brushless tools! No smell, no noise, and hardly ANY maintenance!! Still gotta keep my big beast, my Kubota tractor but am loving all these electric gadgets for the rest of the projects around the homestead! 🤩 Thanks for a great video! 😊
I had an issue with the 56v battery 7.5ah (flashing orange/red) after having the mower for 5 - 6 months. Called support and they sent me a replacement but i got to keep the defected one. Very good customer support
I’ve been using my Ego for a year. I love the reliability and instant start. Plus it’s light and self propelled. I can go two weeks before I have to recharge it.
I purchased a this EGO with the 10 Amp-Hr battery a few weeks ago. My original goal was to replace my Honda mower, which has been pretty reliable. I live in Central Florida and have a St. Augustine lawn. This time of year, with nearly daily rain, the grass grows pretty long during the week. I am sad to report that the EGO just can't handle the longer grass. Even at the highest setting, I get mohawking and uneven cutting with the mulching blade. I'm 67 years old and I have no desire to mow the lawn 2x to get a better result, so this week I'm going to return it. I do like the ease of setup, the quietness, and the light weight of the mower. But, at the end of the day, it has to mow well, and for my lawn, it just doesn't cut it (pun intended).
Overall, it is just a great quality electric lawn mower. Very well built and nothing is cheaply made. This will be my future lawn mower for my next purchased. Great job EGO! Money well worth investing on. Warranty is great. Not many manufacturers can offer that kind of lengthy warranty for a great product.
I have an Ego, had it for 6-8 years. Never have paid any attention to the plastic sound, so it must not be a problem for me 😁😁. Never have had a self propelled , so I can't respond to that, all I can say is I LOVE mine and will buy another when needed.
The lighter weight, quietness, and build quality are all excellent. I used the self-propelled as an assist when going up hill. I just press the button while I'm walking and the self-propelled just feathers itself in. Probably push my EGO 70% of the time. The ball-bearing wheels make it move easily. Honda had the same issue with the wheels not UN-engaging when pulling backwards. That went away on my Honda after the grease settled in and let the latches release on their own. Surprisingly, this does NOT happen on my EGO! It just works, with no hanging up on the wheels being pulled backwards. The mulching blade also works well with the bagging option. I had no problems picking up fall leaves with it. I'm sure the high-lift blade is even better, but the mulching blade does have suction to do bagging. Throws the clippings right to the back of the bag. To me, the big plus on EGO is the handle design. Ergonomic in so many ways, right down the single lever to quickly move out of the way to remove bag. My Honda, aside from being so heavy, required multiple mashonations to get it adjusted/moved. I did get the WiFi working on CH7000 charger, but had to go through a lot of hoops to make it fly. Only when I put the app on an older Android tablet, did the pairing to wifi work. I was then able to use the app on my newer android phone afterwards with no problem. Second, the CH7000 would not connect to my 2.4 Ghz wifi unless it was surprisingly close enough to the hub. The CH7000 has a very weak Wifi transmitter. Also, the CH7000 does not support 5 Ghz wifi. How they released a product without support 5 Ghz is beyond me. 10aH battery is expensive, luckily has that longer 5 year warranty. 1/3 acre of property, and I still have two bars left on battery. When I put it on the charger, it reported being at 45% charge. Nice. Yea, the plastic sound is off-putting, but you also can hear the birds chirping or the wife telling you how much she Loves you WHILE you are mowing. And why didn't EGO put a USB port on the mower? Oh, the things you could power on there. Like a fan to keep you cool ! Bluetooth speaker!
Just bought one a couple of weeks ago. Switched from a push gas mower. Love having the electric start and self propelled feature especially with some small hills that I have. It is quieter and cuts pretty clean. I was able to cut my front and back and it had one bar left and that was because it was using higher RPM because my grass was longer. Now I don't cut it as short and will mow more often. Battery chargers pretty quick and I have about 5500 sq ft of grass so far I am happy and glad that I switched since my son likes to help and now I don't have to worry about him handling it spoiling gas. Not to mention the trips to the gas station!
Regarding the blade sharpening issue for this particular mower. For my previous Honda mower and now my EGO LM2156SP I was curious about the necessary frequency of sharpening, the (undocumented) angle of delivered blades, and the relative quality of cuts of various blades. So to address these questions I did, and am doing, the following: 1. Purchased the All American blade sharpener system to routinely sharpen used blades to match incoming blade angles and sharpness. 2. Purchased and use a digital protractor (?) to record blade angles on incoming blades. And to assure blade angles are sharpened (by me) consistently. 3. This season for every other mow I randomly select 10 grass blades before and after each mow. I then photograph the collection of grass blades and under magnification categorize the condition of the grass blade tips (clean slice, slight tear, and raggedy). I try to keep this process as consistent as possible between mows. I have owned EGO mower since July and have executed this routine for about five mows (5 hours total mowing time). The installed blade configuration has been constant and limited to the basic upper and "gator" blades only. After these mows and maintaining the blade configuration noted above as initially delivered (no sharpening by me). I notice very little, if any, degradation so far of the grass cut. I expect to complete three more mows this season (Northern VA) and will document results at the end of the season.
The SelectCut XP seems to be an electric version of a Honda Harmony gas mower. They use the same style plastic deck, and some models have the one-lever blade height adjustment. They also use the identical blade system as the Hondas...and ironically, speaking as an owner of a Honda Harmony mower....They *ALSO* have that weird self-propel engagement issue! The Honda mowers use a ratchet pawl system on the gear, so you can push it faster than the self-propel, or push it when it's not engaged. The ratchet is supposed to release, so you can roll it backwards, but it doesn't always work, and you end up just dragging the back wheels. SAME resolution as the EGO..Push it forward, or blip the self propel, adn then it will roll backwards properly. Oh, and the Honda Harmony also makes that plasticky sound when it's rolling around powered down as well!
Great review - describing positives and negatives without being negative! I’m really impressed. Giving a wish list instead of just ratting of information is a good idea.
Most excellent and helpful video for someone like myself that is investigating purchasing one of these electric mowers whom has never owned one before. I love the technical nature of your video, without getting too overboard...and hey you have a yellow lab in your video too so bonus points for that!!!
Thanks Marc we also did a detailed review of this mower and we’ve done head to head videos against other mowers so take a look at our get off gas playlist when you get a chance thank you for your kind words we hope you hang around 👍🏼
Fantastic review.!!!! Thank you! Nice to see your Yellow Labrador Retriever helping with your review. Our Yellow Lab died recently and he looked exactly like yours.😀
I happen to LIKE the 'plastic' sound; because I know it is not cheap plastic. Brand name is Lexan; polycarbonate. Very strong and; depending on the thickness; bullet proof!
My theory on the motor engaging on a backward roll is that is a safety feature. It doesn't happen every time, so you might argue it isn't, but in my brief experience, there does somewhat seem to be a pattern. Sudden, quick backward movements seem to engage the motor, so it may just be an anti-rollback feature that has the unintentional consequence of engaging when we actually WANT the mower to back up.
I’ve had my mower for almost two seasons now. It is the best mulching mower I have ever owned. Never see clumps. However, when I mulch cut above 2.5 inches it leaves an unacceptable number of uncut blades, requiring me to double cut the lawn. I think it’s a suction issue. I don’t want to bag the grass so the high lift blade doesn’t seem like the answer. Blade is sharp. I feel like Ego needs to come up with a blade that combines mulching with high lift. For the money I paid for this, I should be able to get more Honda like cut quality. Otherwise l love the mower.
I bought the 2156SP 6 months ago and agree with your dislike about the rear wheels “locking up” when trying to pull the mower backwards. My model has the same annoying issue. Another dislike is using height adjustment by number rather than inches/cm. If there was a decal or imprint to show true height from lowest blade to bottom of wheels would be helpful. My Ego Z6 E-Steer 42” has height adjustment settings in 1/3” increments from 1 1/3” to 4 1/3”. Crazy way to measure blade height if you ask me. GREAT REVIEW! Excellent presentation and well thought-out lists.
Thanks you for helping me make a decision. I just purchased one from Loews. Got that military discount which was nice. I am dealing with arthritis and this mower is perfect for our 1/2 acre yard.
I've had mine for a few years now as well, and I completely agree with you on the annoyance of the drive mechanism frequently "catching" when you back up, and about the blade needing sharpening so often. (I assume it's just a lower quality steel than other brands use, which is really inexcusable considering the price of this thing.) My other annoyances would be 1) that even with the hi-lift blade, it really doesn't lift the grass as effectively as my old gas mower did, and 2) that the 90-degree angled part of the handle where you have to hold your hands to use the drive feature bends my wrists back too vertically for comfort. (That's a HUGE one, as I bet anyone who's ever struggled with carpal tunnel syndrome will fully agree with.) I'm seriously considering switching brands over these 4 things.
I OWN THE PUSH MOWER VERSION OF THIS MOWER I'M 75 AND HAVE NO PROBLEM PUSHING THE MOWER,GRANTED I DO HAVE A SMALER LAWN,I DON'T LIKE SELF PROPELLED BECAUSE IT'S JUST MORE THINGS TO GO WRONG WITH THE MOWER. I ALSO OWEN THE TOP OF THE LINE SNOW BLOWER WHICH IS AN ABSOLUTE BEAST, IT HAS THE DUAL 7.5 AMP BATTERIES ,I WISH IT HAD THE 2 TEN AMP BATTERIES , I USED IT THIS WINTER AND WAS ABLE TO SNOW BLOW THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD MY NEIGHBORS WERE MUCH APPRECIATIVE AND HIGHLY IMPRESSED WITH THE MACHINE. EGO MAKES SUPERIOR AND VERY DURABLE EQUIPMENT I WAS A TOTAL GAS AND POWER GUY AND THIS EQUIPMENT HAS HIGHLY IMPRESSED ME, I ALSO OWN THE WEED WIPPER, BLOWER, CHAIN SAW, HEDGE TRIMMER, ALL FINE PIECES OF EQUIPMENT AND QUALITY UNSURPASSED!
My man has his fiancé cutting the grass. Well done! I'm thinking about buy one this week to replace my Honda (which is having self-propel issues). I hope the quality of the cut is comparable. One thing i already think I may miss with the EGO is the method of engaging the speed of the walk. The Honda had a thumb-operated speed control which you can constantly and easily vary as you walk, turn. etc.
Great video. I just ordered one after watching the video. Will see how it goes. I am currently using a manual StaySharp Fiskars. I'll definitely revisit your video once I receive the EGO LM2156SP to refresh my memory on all the tips you indirectly provided. Thanks for the valuable content! Looking forward to more videos from you.
I got this mower as a steal at Lowe's, open box. It was less than half full retail so I snagged that sucker with the quickness. I'm madly in love with this mower, and didn't initially realize it was their top of the line model at the time. I agree with your list of likes, and even a few of the dislikes though some feel like splitting hairs a bit. The wish list items - totally agreed. They should make the battery alert system on the handle something that is easier to read and stands out more. I honestly forgot it existed, unless I'm staring at/examining the mower. Having handles on the batteries would be my #1. They're heavy af.
Same here, paid $180+tax for the open box I got, but was the model one step down. Came with 7.5 battery and fast charger. Even using the self propelled, still have 2 bars when finished. No issues with it other than the occasional wheel lock when pulling backwards, but that is not a major issue for me. First time I've looked forward to mowing lol.
I don't think the batteries necessarily need a handle; but I DO wish that the tools had a stronger eject spring. EGO may have already done this. It seems like my newer tools have it. Or maybe it's because the spring has weakened with age. I can't be sure.
Originally came across the channel b/c of the 2 stage snow blower and kept watching. I have the snow blower on order (lowes didn’t have the 4 10ah battery package in stock so ordered from an online site and waiting - saw the reviews of this mower and picked one up - can’t wait to mow my lawn and compare it to my older 20inch dual blade dual battery 40v greenworks - which seemed a little under powered and always left a ridge between the two small blades. The dual battery was nice but that’s b/c the 40v maxed out at 4ah. Can’t believe I’m this excited to cut my lawn. I have a garage full of greenworks 40v tools (trimmers, chainsaw, pole saw, weed wackers, and multiple blowers) but have a feeling will be slowly transitioning the rest to ego.
My father purchased an EGO mower this year. Works well for the most part. Wheels do engage/grab every now and then when pulling back, but it seems to be much less often now than when it was new. Other issue noticed this fall when trying to cut the grass really low in preparation for winter snow, is on the lowest height the deck seems to not allow any airflow to suck up the clippings and a lot are left behind. This happens even after picking up all the clippings on height 2 or 3, and after multiple mowings on the lowest height. I think the grass is just too thick and the edges of the deck are lower than the blade so those edges are always are deeper in the uncut grass and no air gets in. I too would like bigger wheels!
Hi Sylvan thanks for watching 👍🏻 I would recommend the hi-lift blade but only when you're bagging it really doesn't do a good job cutting up the grass. It creates some really nice suction and throws it right in your bag very well
My understanding is the locking wheel issue is an intentional safety feature to prevent a runaway mower. Supposedly if you pull back slowly and evenly it doesn't engage. I agree it too often interferes with mowing and it's engagement should be less sensitive. Nobody mentioned my number one complaint which is the mower still lacks the suction of my old bagging only Honda. It's especially noticeable when trying to cut above the #4 height setting. When cutting grass taller it too often doesn't lift the grass that's laying down to cut evenly and eventually it becomes too long and heavy to be lifted by the mower. Especially problematic on slightly uneven terrain or less dense areas in my turf. I have kbg for reference. Another nice feature would be if they could weatherize the underneath portion of the mower so you can hose it off to clean it! One other small complaint is I wish they'd improve the battery lid cover. It's too loose and makes a rattle when mowing. Another nice addition would be changing the markings on the height adjustment to correspond to a height of cut. But I understand most users don't care to know the actual cut height. Other than those issues the mower is near perfect. Thanks for your comparison video of the XP with your Honda. It was that detailed head to head comparison that made be decide to look into an EGO when my 32 year old Honda died this summer and Honda was out of stock on a replacement. Excellent comparison. EGO should have you on their payroll. I wonder how much business you've sent their way.
I too have experienced the wheel motor engagement without self propelled activated. It seems to happen a lot when making frequent turns. Something I would add to the wishlist would be to have wider wheels. Larger too but also wider. It would spread out the weight so you could mow on softer ground without leaving as deep of a rut. I have an area of the yard that takes forever to dry out. There have been times that I’ve needed to mow before the next rain but that area hasn’t dried out enough. That resulted in some rutting. This is REALLY reaching but…can you imagine Omni directional wheels! Oh Man!!!
I am a new EGO user-like my new EGO select cut SP mower.Mine did come with the extra blades.I am now looking into getting the EGO Z6 42" rider mower! Both I and my lawn care guy would love using it!!!I so like the idea of cordless mowers that make mowing your yard as easy as vacuuming the living room floor-esp with my Kirby-it has self propel like the EGO mower!I also unpacked my mowwer at my freinds vac shop-we tried it out-and the vac shop owner is looking at replacing his gas mower with an EGO!When I buy the rider will get it with the mulch adaptor and a spare set of blades. These do not come with the mower. You have to get the adaptor and blades separate.
Just bought the 2156 and love it so far. I get over an hour of mowing. As for the battery warranty I’ve seen nothing in the literature where I need to register it. I thought the CPA did away with requiring registration for warranty.
When you talked about the handle height you mentioned your fiancé liked the lower height adjustment. I have been married for over 30 years. Some free advice, She is still your fiancé because you make her cut the grass. LOL. Kidding of course. Great review.
Enjoy your videos, you helped me make a decision on the XP by watching your videos just in time for summer. The XP has been a big improvement. I was torn on what to do with my 2016 and the dying batteries. After watching your video I decided it was time to upgrade. Never looked back thank you. Oh and the wheels locking when pulling back even without self propelled engaged it happens to me and has since my 2016 too. I find it irritating to say the least. Thanks again.
Hi Jeff thank you so much for sharing their experience I enjoy making the videos and I also enjoy testing all these products. I do hope they fix that issue
My one fear is twice the cost in the long run. If battery gets weaker (shorter charge) in 4 or 5 years and I am forced to buy a new one, it's nearly the cost of a new mower entirely. I currently have a Toro PP/SP, 2011 model, and I have probably spent about $7/yr in gas. It takes just under 2.5 gallons to mow once a week from early April to early October. One 2.5 gallon container all cutting season with maybe 1/4 gallon left over. Average gas prices since 2011 guessing about $3.30 a gallon (some times down near 2, mostly around 3 and sometimes, like now, up around 4/gallon). So I have spent, roughly $70 - $80 in gas over 10 years. I have also changed the oil 5 times (every other year, just wasn't dirty enough) and at less than 1 qt needed, and maybe avg $4.00 a quart, that's another $20 or so. Add in two air filters and not much else (well just changed spark plug first time, $5) and I am at roughly $100 in fuel, oil and filter costs over 10 years. I have been studying electric and the fact its going to cost me quite a bit more over next 10 years is concerning. I know batteries don't last, we probably all know that. I have a cordless Andi's BGRV hair clipper I love, but after 6 years of light usage (just me) had to fork over $80 for a new battery (the clippers were just over $200 new, battery included). These electrics, low maintenance and cost saving are not quite as advertised in the cost realm. NOW, that said, I have a fairly small yard, something around 1/5 acre, maybe a hair more but close to 1/5 than 1/4. Anything closer or over 1/2 acre and I could see with gas costs doubling, that suddenly electric is making some sense. Maybe they're still too new (in wide use that is) to tell, but how are battery pack longevity results for some of you? 3 years before charge is just low to keep from aggravating you? 4 years? 5 years? I have no faith any of these batteries will last more than say 5 years mowing once a week over 25 or so weeks during the hot/humid summer days here in ATL. I do get this "cooling" technology will extend longevity, but unless its active (fan and thus a necessary filter with mowing dust), it isn't adding much. I may have blown up my Toro, I cleaned it thoroughly this winter head off, wired brushed off carbon build up and then apparently overfilled my oil by 5 or so oz. It started first pull after putting it back together (this Toro always starts first pull, crazy what gas mowers do these days), but it had a ticking sound. I figured out too much oil, but only after I mowed 1.5 times (didn't finish this time). I hope it starts up later in week, but if it doesn't (may have bent the rod or something, it appears okay, but we'll see), I might be looking at one of the Ego models (self propelled). I just cringed at the thought of a $450 battery replacement in 4-6 years (if I am lucky). A good mower, gas or electric, should last AT LEAST 10 years with moderate usage, so long as we don't try to mow the cement curb or rocks and small trees (it ain't a bushhog). If I have to buy a new battery at nearly the cost of the mower, that to me is like buying two mowers in 10 years, or like having to buy a new ENGINE for my gas mower (though a new engine is about HALF the cost of a new freaking battery...sad ain't it)?
Excellent post! I'm considering switching from a gas mower and I have the same concern. Ego's 5 year battery warranty is little consolation given the enormous price for a replacement year 6 or 7.
Yes, I am with you. I like what I read and see in the professional and public reviews, but buying a $300-over $400 battery in 5 years is buying another mower!
@@compupsych3897 I worry about "warranties" in general. They're only as good as the company's customer service and integrity. Too many companies finding ways around honoring warranties. I mostly disregard warranties as i know it will take hours and hours if not weeks and weeks of fruitless time to get a fix or replacement. For every warranty that is 100% honored, no/few questions asked, there are 5 that were NEVER intended to be honored, short of a very expensive lawsuit or threat of one.
The problem that I see is that gas powered equipment now is jetted so lean that it screws up the carbs. I have a toro personal pace with a Briggs gs engine. In the last 5 years I have had to replace the carburetor 3 times. It’s plastic and the jets get gummed up with today’s fuel. No I am not going to purchase true fuel at 48 dollars for 2.5 gallons. You can attempt to clean it but it just gets gummed up again. Now I battling with a compression issue while starting. Contrast this to my dad who has had two craftsman’s last him 20 years each.
@@chrisgentile3530 Fortunately, I have a few gas stations near me with ethanol-free gas. That should help. I agree, with the asinine regulations (reason we have crappy turbo 4 and turbo 3 engines in most cars and non-giant suv's these days), engines are crappier, leaner, cheaper. We're being forced to go electric/battery, no matter how costly (it WILL cost us more in the end). Hopefully some of these regulations are rolled-back a bit. Sad its' so bad Honda chose to leave the mower market, rather than make crappy, disposable and less environmentally friendly mowers (if you have to toss em every few years, you're not saving the planet)...but I digress.
So I just got this today. First time electric mower user. I loved the power and that I could see the indicator lights. I had the self-propelled function on 90% of the time and the charge lasted just over 45 minutes. What I didn't like was the difficult time I had turning the mower, it put a strain on my back for sure. I had the same issue with the back wheels locking when trying to pull backwards. Support said that issue with the wheels locking is a safety issue so that if you are mowing uphill it won't go backwards mowing you over. My biggest complaint is the quality of the cut. Even with the mulching blade it sometimes left uneven patches and it didn't do a good of a job as a gas powered mower as far fine cutting of edges. Oh, and my box was missing a side shoot. I called customer service and I wish I could say it was a good experience but it wasn't. They basically blamed me for the uneven cut (I used to mow lawns for a living, I know how to mow) and for the missing part, it's not a warranty item and I would have to pay out of pocket for it. I just bought the dang thing this morning. I will have to see if not having to do gas powered maintenance outways this. I hope others have a better experience than I did.
It is the safety brake on the mower. If u pull back, it auto brakes. Just simply push forward and then pull back on mower. This prevents mower rolling back on a person unexpectedly. Also if u slip on a hill, the mower will hit the brake and may prevent u from falling. It is a well thought out design.
Good idea for a battery handle, but not too keen on the dual battery idea. Who mows for 2 1/2 hours straight? Also, bigger wheels would be more work on the electric motors - the wheel size needs to be engineered with the electric motors to meet the desired torque
Great video. I have this mower as well; had it for one year now. My dislike (peeve) is that the mower width does not cut where you think it will. What you end up is overlappipng your mower cut to ensure you cut your rows evenly. So when you mow a row, you typically place your wheels on one side of the mower onto the outer wheel marks from the row you just mowed. With this mower, you have to acually place your wheels like 2 inches to the side of the wheel mark you just made. Other than that its been a really good mower. I also agree that the "plastic ratteling of the mower" makes it sound cheap, but this mower is really well made and will be very durable.
Nice review. Coming from a nice Honda I am mostly happy with this mower. I do have 4 minor issues though. 1. You are not kidding that the blades need to be sharpened more often. I have been getting about 3 cuts before having to sharpen the blades. 2. Even with the blades sharp I still get many more stragglers with the mulching blade than I did with the Honda. Going to try the high lift blade and see if that does a better job. 3. The mower leaves a line of mulched grass down the left side. Not sure if there is something I can do to stop that. I've tried playing with the mulching plug but it still does it. 4. I have had the wheels lock on me a couple of time when trying to pull back. All in all I am happy with it. I certainly don't miss changing oil and putting gas in it. I only have a couple of cuts left for the year. It will be nice just to hang it up out of the way with no winter prep.
Thanks Kevin Keep in mind the high lift blade isn't as good mulching when it comes to the mulch (gator) blade. That blade is great when bagging. Thanks for sharing your experience
I have had the same issue with the drive motor still being engaged when I pulled back or changed directions. Since I don't use the self propel feature, I removed the gears on the back wheels, problem solved, but I have to be carefull not to press the switches on the handle as it will turn on the drive motor. I modified my handle so that I can latch it with it pulled halfway out. I did have to drill holes and modify the safety switch that is in the handle cross piece. I also romoved the toe guard on the bottom rear as I did not like it folding back when I pulled it back. I do wish the rear wheels were. 12 to 14 inches Also wish the nose was shorter to that I can get a closer cut to the house or landscaping at 90 degree angles Note: the hotter the outdoor temp the shorter the battery time
I'd like ego to have a trade-in/upgrade program. Especially for the batteries but also the electric motors if not everything. Refurbish or even just recycle them giving us a core trade-in value.
The dragging the self propel transmission when you pull back issue is a common problem for "all" rear drive mowers that use a one way drive ratchet ,getting the mechanism to disengage (because the one way drive is ratchet gear is designed to freewheel when overdriven forwarded , but engage the drive when spun back the other way, when this this drives the transmissions shaft and gear reduction drive and adds all its associated drag , its a tricky issue to address they would have to design some kind of physical drive link lock out when the drive is disengaged electrically ..
Just a heads up, getting through to tech support takes forever and the people who answer are not very knowledgeable. Finding an authorized EGO repair shop is very difficult. My mower stopped working after limited use for one season. Tech support after 2 very long phone conversations sent me to the Lowe’s for repair. Lowe’s does not do warranty repairs for EGO. One shop several miles away said they could do it and bill EGO but it would be 5-6 weeks before they would look at it. Fortunately, after going back to Lowe’s and speaking to the manager, they did a full exchange for a new one. I also have a leaf blower, trimmer and chainsaw and am very happy with those. I hope my mower problem was just a quirk.
i have the original Ego mower self propelled and like it a lot better than the dual cut one you have....i like everything about it....my blade seems to stay sharp all year long and I cut every 2-3 days (or at least it's nothing i really notice because the lawn looks great)......only issue I have seen with my model is the wire in the handle bars can break if you fold it up and unfold it a lot and it will not let you start the mower at all....wi fi and extra batteries are some perks that i could care less about....i never notice any issues backing up and wheels are still locked or at least not in a way that would bother me....overall I am very pleased with all my EGO stuff (6 tools)
I’m glad you mentioned the drive not disengaging. I thought I may have had a defective model. I love the mower. I just mowed and bagged my entire lawn, which has a lot of obstacles. The battery died after my final cut, and I was using the headlights.
I wish they would get rid of the mulch plug all together, and use a lever to switch back and forth like the Toro 60v does. My gas honda push mower also has it. I switched to Ego for signle stage snwo blower last winter. I purchased the trimmer and blower this summer. I was going to purchase the mower, but the Honda is still going strong. My back yard slops slight to the back, and the last 20-30% of the grass grows faster when we have rain. Being able to mulch the first 70% and then simply switch to bagging without having to stop and remove or insert a mulch plug is very convenient
@@TechMadeEzy You're always helpful; thanks. Yesterday, I received my Lowe's order for LM2156SP and when I opened the box the mower label indicated it's a LM2150SP. Even the enclosed manual does not have the "56" listed on the cover. The box DID include the new type charger AND the 10 AH battery. I assumed that the "56" version was, in fact, the entire kit containing the new charger & 10 AH battery. I knew that Tech Made Easy would assure me that all is well, LOL! The same thing occurred 3 years ago when I purchased the 2135SP and the mower label indicated "2130SP". Many thanks for doing great instructional videos. You videos are the first ones I seek out whenever I log onto "TH-cam".
I just bought a new (manufacture mark says March 2023) LM2156SP (kit with LM2150 mower). I just tried it out, and it does NOT have the problem you mentioned with the drive disengaging when pulling back. Additionally, the 2023 LM2156 has 8 levels, not 7, and goes down to about 1". It seems they change the design and kept the same model number.
@@TechMadeEzy, I just got mine. Hopefully, the issue does not emerge. I'm just getting going. I'm finding that I keep letting go of the safety bar and stopping the blade when maneuvering/turning compared to my old (Ryobi) mower, but this may be an issue of building up some "muscle memory." The EGO 2156SP does make my 4-year-old Lower end 40V Ryobi seem like a toy in terms of cutting power. I could not cut Bermuda as low as I wanted because the Ryobi couldn't handle it even when mowing twice a week.
@@TechMadeEzy I had LM2156sp for 2 months and have not had the issue with the drive wheels being engaged while backing up. I do quite a bit of backing up. The mower is overkill for my small lawn. It makes short work of it, and I cut at about 1.3" twice a week. It is much better than my old Ryobi both when cutting and folding up for storage. The only small annoyance is that it is too easy to accidentally hit the wheel drive bars.
I usually will wipe it down but here is when I do a deep cleaning if I have to How I clean my EGO Mower Deck NO HOSE NEEDED th-cam.com/video/psqZ5IZpLiY/w-d-xo.html
In reference to larger wheels, the high wheel mower is easier to push on rough terrain, ( not smooth) and is definitely easier to pull backwards. The high wheels would be a much welcomed improvement. I am in Southwest Florida and have Saint Augustine grass, it is very coarse and a bit rough to push a mower through. I enjoy the option of the self propelled feature when I need it, but prefer the workout of pushing the mower. I have a LM2100SP and it still runs like new. As stated in the video keep your blades sharp.
I just bought a brand-new LM2156SP kit (with an LM2156SP mower), and it has 8 (not 7) height settings. I was SURPRISED. Additionally, it goes from 1" to 4" and not 1.5" to 4". The Lowes and Amazon websites say 7 height settings and 1.5" to 4". But I can tell you my lever goes to 8. Also, the EGO website manual says 8 settings from 1" to 4". It looks like EGO changed the height setting but kept the mower model number the same.
@@TechMadeEzy Thanks. BTW, was quite helpful. It is strange, confusing, and bad marketing, IMO. They improved the design but kept the same model number. It probably explains why all the websites have the "old" specs. I was debating whether to get this one, as I have Bermuda grass that wants to be cut fairly short. I might not need to cut below 1.5", but it is nice to have the option, particularly if I want to scalp the grass at the beginning of the season. I set it to "2" to test it out and was almost scalping the grass compared to my old mower. I then noticed that the lever went to 8 and realized it had an 8-height design. I now wonder if there is a downside to the 8-height design.
Thanks for the review, good info. First of all I really like the ego lm 2156, but I’d like to add one dislike I have with the motor bearing knock noise on bumpy lawns, I know it’s from the motor bearing because if I spin the blades by hand and slightly wiggle them as you rotate them, they knock (so there is bearing slop). For a test, I cross bladed with two stock economy blades, two stock mulching blades and also two of the stock high lift blades and the knocking completely disappears when operating the lawn mower in a bumpy yard. I don’t want to, nor do intend to cross blade, I want to use the mower as designed, so I just put up with knock noise, but unfortunately it makes it sound cheap. I wish Ego would look into this.
My mower also engages the self propelle sometimes it lockes the right rear wheel and other times it will create a small amount of drag making the mower slightly harder to push but the causes wheel marks in the lawn
I just wish it would ramp up faster when hitting thicker grass. Or just a dang non eco mode. I want high power all the time. This is my only issue with this mower.
My #1 wishlist item would be a turbo button like the blowers have. #2 better headlights, living in Phoenix I wait till the sun goes down to mow. Seems like the lights got worse on the select cut series.
Dislike #1, Yeah happens to me too. I stop the self propel motor while mowing and start pushing a few feet before I stop and then pull back and that seems to help. Dislike #3, Please tell us how you got it to connect? I don't know of anyone who has been able to get it to work. I am on like my 3rd charger, and still no connection (though I can connect my phone to the charger, just can't get charger to connect to wifi from there) Disklike #4 , End of season, so I am looking for a blade sharpening tutorial video myself. Excellent video and I agree 100% with your wishlist.
Hi Barry thanks for watching just make sure the charger is registered with EGO call them they did end up sending me a replacement and that's when it started working.
Have had ego products for just over 3 years the mower is ok but I would take a lot of convincing to buy another, 2 batteries under warranty. As for clean and green where do you think lithium comes from. The petrol mower I have is 15 years old 1/3 the cost of the ego. $479.00 for a new battery buys a lot of fuel
One thing that disappoints me about the the self propelled features of all of these electric mowers is that you have to set a speed and then when you push the button it goes at that speed. I really like the variable speed on my old Toro gas powered mower where you you just push, the harder you push the faster the you go
@@TechMadeEzy Yep, got the notification and watched it right after you put it out. But it's much too late now, and just disappoints me even more since I just bought mine without that feature a few months back...😢 And I'm not rich, this one is going to have to last me a decade at least hopefully.
I’ve had the ego mower 2 seasons and this season it keeps turning off after a few minutes on. The battery is good I already tested that. Im not happy that I’m having issues after such a short time of owning this battery operated lawnmower. The only reason I switched from gas to battery was because I hated the smell of gas. But I never had issues with the gas mower and they last longer. I definitely regret buying a battery operated lawnmower especially since it wasn’t cheap. I DO NOT recommend any one to switch to battery operated lawnmower . Oh, fyi battery replacement cost almost as much as purchasing a new gas lawnmower?
I just bought a ego21" sp mower and a ego string trimmer. They have different size batteries. Can I charge the lower amp hour battery with the fast charger or do I have to use the charger supplied with the trimmer.
Got the 2135SP mower today at Ace Hardware for $600. The mower came with a 7.5 ah battery and a free 5 ah battery with purchase. Also included were the four blades & rapid charger. What’s the difference with the XP? ✌🏻👍🏻
Not at all and if anything the mulch plug won’t stay in if the bag is on. Mulching requires the door to be shut and it applies pressure against the mulch plug
@@TechMadeEzy What do you mean, though, by "the motor engages"? Isn't the motor always...engaging? Thanks. We're about to make a decision tomorrow. It's important to me to be able to move the mower forward and backwards, easily, in manual mode.
@smz5302 I believe it’s the self propel motor , when you pull back at times it engages making it difficult to continue so you have to push forward then pull back to make it stop, that doesn’t always work so I’ve had to turn self propel on then off and that works at times. It’s not a huge issue but it can be a pain in the … every so often.
@@TechMadeEzy Thank you! Yeah, that sounds like a problem for me. I do all the fine trim work using a hand mower. Rest of yard (large) is using a riding mower. Hmm...now thinking more closely about the Milwaukee. Thanks.
The Ego batteries should last for several years or even longer.I have some Greenworks batteries that are over 10yrs old-still going strong.Lithium batteries as a whole last longer than lead acid and NiCad.
Great review! I just bought me that same one you got here about couple months ago. So far with no problem and I do think it’s gonna be a great mower! Already thinking about getting me a blower as well. Any problem, I shall let you know. Dude from James Island, South Carolina. ✌🏻
In reference to your issue with self-propelled engaging when off. I own an EGO LM2102SP purchased in 2019. Had no problems until this year when the self-propelled would only run in slow. I read of others that only ran fast. After doing research the cause of this problem is wire chafing caused over time by the in and out movement when collapsing the handle to store it. I'm ready for a new mower and have tried to contact EGO to see if they fixed an obvious engineering error but no answer. Could that be the cause of your problem?
Hi no, if you familiar with our Channel we've been using ego mower since 2019, even the latest 2024 Aluminum Deck does it with Self Propell off. It's designed that way from what I can tell. But thank you
Hi, you have a 5 year warranty but you might be out of it by now. I wish I could help but although I’m a big ego fan I don’t have contacts in ego which is a shame. I’m sorry buddy
Wish List: Ball bearing wheels. My EGO is 3 years old and an older model. Con: 1) When pushing the mower without using the self drive system, forward or backward, the motor will grab at random times, and you have to push the mower the opposite direction to free the grip. Not wishing to offend the neighbors, I do my best to swear under my breath when it grabs. 2) Warranty and support. My first EGO had a simple part fail when it was one year old. It was a common defect. Home Depot could not get the part. I called EGO and over again, got promise after promise. They did nothing for me or Home Depot. Home Depot stood behind the mower, took it back, and credited the full price paid towards a new one, the one I still have today. Home Depot no longer sells EGO, and I think I know why. So when I replace this mower next spring, do I give EGO another try? I keep watching reviews like yours to help me make up my mind. One thing no reviewer addresses: Has EGO created a reliable service network to - at the minimum - repair mowers under warranty in a week or less? I wish Honda would release a battery powered mower.
Honda gas mowers require an authorized Honda repair shop. I would guess a future Honda battery mower would be the same. That's how Toro did it. If you are in a small town, you will have to drive a long way to get to a Honda or Toro dealer. The reviews for Honda gas, and Toro gas or battery are all complaining of several months backlog for repairs. As in the ENTIRE mowing season! My Greenworks Pro experience from Home Depot was similar to yours. HD took it back with a full refund after 2 months. No questions asked. I'm looking again.
Nice video. This one is not on my budget. Can you put a video on the best budget models? I feel the push mower will be better than the self-propelled I.e. In terms of weight, cost, and the reserve issue. Can you recommend an Ego Push lawn mower with a battery?
I have the XP and I, too, have that issue with the motor engaging when backing up. I’m not at all certain about this but I think my hands might be accidentally hitting the drive buttons when I change hand position to back up. As I’ve gotten used to using the machine, it’s happening less and less.
@@TechMadeEzy exactly the issue with mine. I have it turned completely off and don't touch the propel buttons and the wheels still lock up. But it always happens at the end of a row, when turning the mower for the trip back in the opposite direction. Seems to have something to do with one wheel turning forward while the other turns backward. I would rather remove the motors on the wheels and do away with the self-propell feature altogether than deal with this nuisance. Know of any tutorial video on how to remove this feature?
I'd like to add one thing, wait to charge them until the day you use them. I too store them in the basement, as it's the coolest place in the house. I also have the charger plugged into an Alexa enabled outlet and scheduled to charge for 1hr on Thursdays, the day I usually mow. This should extend the battery life, leaving them only partially charged most of the week.
I'm charging it now and will try again tomorrow...Hopefully, it will do better! 😬
I sure appreciate your video!
Thanks for a great video! 😊
The 10.Ah battery won't not do that. The battery should be fully charged first.
@@rhoodj Those EGO batteries cost more than the brand new mower! 🙄
Thanks for sharing your feedback and your experience
Overall, it is just a great quality electric lawn mower. Very well built and nothing is cheaply made. This will be my future lawn mower for my next purchased. Great job EGO! Money well worth investing on. Warranty is great. Not many manufacturers can offer that kind of lengthy warranty for a great product.
Thanks
I have an Ego, had it for 6-8 years. Never have paid any attention to the plastic sound, so it must not be a problem for me 😁😁. Never have had a self propelled , so I can't respond to that, all I can say is I LOVE mine and will buy another when needed.
Just bought the EGO 56 Volt. This video was very helpful. Thank you.
Thanks Christopher. I’m glad it helped. I hope you subscribe to our channel.
Very good notes Steven thank you so much for sharing and especially for watching
Nice congrats, hope you stay with us
We have a Honda Petrol Mower from 15 years ago and that sound you don’t like is the same on the Honda but that all metal except the wheels.
Regarding the blade sharpening issue for this particular mower.
For my previous Honda mower and now my EGO LM2156SP I was curious about the necessary frequency of sharpening, the (undocumented) angle of delivered blades, and the relative quality of cuts of various blades. So to address these questions I did, and am doing, the following:
Thank you! I love this type of stuff. Just purchased my first EGO mower. Are you an engineer?
Yes, it sounds "plasticy", but I love that the deck will not rust. This more than makes up for it.
Thanks!
Thanks K Fan 🌟
Not much of an electric fan but it's a real nice mower. Daughter loves it.
Fantastic review.!!!! Thank you! Nice to see your Yellow Labrador Retriever helping with your review. Our Yellow Lab died recently and he looked exactly like yours.😀
Edward thank you 👍🏻
I happen to LIKE the 'plastic' sound; because I know it is not cheap plastic.
It engages even moving forward with SP off.
My does it when my battery is not in the lawn mower WOOOOW
Mine engages also and I have to push forward just slightly to disengage. Not fun when going back and forth in tight spaces.
Thanks James
Thanks you for helping me make a decision. I just purchased one from Loews. Got that military discount which was nice. I am dealing with arthritis and this mower is perfect for our 1/2 acre yard.
Awesome Lewis and THANK YOU for your service 🇺🇸🇺🇸
I would add one item to the wish list and that would be to include a brush or roller so that you could stripe your lawn.
They sell that separately,
amzn.to/3PrN8BE
I've had mine for a few years now as well, and I completely agree with you on the annoyance of the drive mechanism frequently "catching" when you back up, and about the blade needing sharpening so often.
Thanks for sharing your feedback
The Honda had a thumb-operated speed control which you can constantly and easily vary as you walk, turn. etc.
You can vary the speed easily on the EGO with your thumb on the wheel.
So glad it helped Francois 👍🏼
You really do a great job with these "everyman" style reviews. Hope your channel continues to have success.
Thank you soo much
I got this mower as a steal at Lowe's, open box.
How much ?
Same here, paid $180+tax for the open box I got, but was the model one step down. Came with 7.5 battery and fast charger. Even using the self propelled, still have 2 bars when finished. No issues with it other than the occasional wheel lock when pulling backwards, but that is not a major issue for me. First time I've looked forward to mowing lol.
I don't think the batteries necessarily need a handle; but I DO wish that the tools had a stronger eject spring.
EGO may have already done this. It seems like my newer tools have it. Or maybe it's because the spring has weakened with age. I can't be sure.
In 2018 ego did make a dual battery mower that held two 5amp batteries. It was sold in Home Depot back then price was $749
Yeah the 2 battery model is still available, I’d love to see a dual blade select cut with a dual battery
@@TechMadeEzy love all your reviews thanks for posting them
Originally came across the channel b/c of the 2 stage snow blower and kept watching.
Thanks for hanging with us. 👍🏼
Have an EGO, it works great. If you are like me and are worried about buying an electric mower... Don't be, it works great.
Hi Sylvan thanks for watching 👍🏻
I would recommend the hi-lift blade but only when you're bagging it really doesn't do a good job cutting up the grass.
Thanks Eugenie appreciate your comments, many valid points, happy holidays
Additional comment, would love to see a video on how to best sharpen the blades...
Register it, takes 2 mins on ego website and this will ensure you have a 5yr 👍🏼
When you talked about the handle height you mentioned your fiancé liked the lower height adjustment. I have been married for over 30 years. Some free advice, She is still your fiancé because you make her cut the grass. LOL. Kidding of course. Great review.
Lol 😂 thanks buddy
Nice job. Easily the best review on this mower. I have been leaning between the EGO, a Kobalt or a Greenworks. I am leaning towards the EGO now.
Thank you Mike I appreciate your comments and I surely hope you stay with us on the channel have a great night and happy holidays
Just gave it to my brother George yeah 21 inch
Great information thank you. Your doggie is adorable btw
Thank you yes she is
So I just got this today.
Thanks for sharing your experience
It is the safety brake on the mower. If u pull back, it auto brakes. Just simply push forward and then pull back on mower. This prevents mower rolling back on a person unexpectedly. Also if u slip on a hill, the mower will hit the brake and may prevent u from falling. It is a well thought out design.
It’s the motor engaging not a safety brake. It doesn’t stop the mower from moving but good thought, happy holidays
@@TechMadeEzy you are correct. It doesn't have actual brakes and is the motor engaging. I should of explained it better.
All good, thanks for staying with us
Good idea for a battery handle, but not too keen on the dual battery idea. Who mows for 2 1/2 hours straight?
Also, bigger wheels would be more work on the electric motors - the wheel size needs to be engineered with the electric motors to meet the desired torque
Extremely detailed video, much appreciated. You sold me.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment
Fossil fuels are, and probably always will be used to charge EV products BTW. But I love my EGO as well. Mowing wet or dry for three years now.
Some places have hydro electric power (dams)
Thanks Kevin
Keep in mind the high lift blade isn't as good mulching when it comes to the mulch (gator) blade.
12 to 14 inches
Also wish the nose was shorter to that I can get a closer cut to the house or landscaping at 90 degree angles
Note: the hotter the outdoor temp the shorter the battery time
Short and sweet is good
Your dog is so cute 😂 great video too .
Thanks she’s in heaven now buddy
I'd like ego to have a trade-in/upgrade program. Especially for the batteries but also the electric motors if not everything. Refurbish or even just recycle them giving us a core trade-in value.
Love that idea
Fantastic Idea!! Ego needs to up their loyalty with consumers because the more we like EGO the more we will talk about and brag about EGO.
Thanks Brian
Sorry James not good for sure
i have the original Ego mower self propelled and like it a lot better than the dual cut one you have....i like everything about it....my blade seems to stay sharp all year long and I cut every 2-3 days (or at least it's nothing i really notice because the lawn looks great)......only issue I have seen with my model is the wire in the handle bars can break if you fold it up and unfold it a lot and it will not let you start the mower at all....wi fi and extra batteries are some perks that i could care less about....i never notice any issues backing up and wheels are still locked or at least not in a way that would bother me....overall I am very pleased with all my EGO stuff (6 tools)
Thank you Brian for sharing your comment and for watching hope all is well
I’m glad you mentioned the drive not disengaging. I thought I may have had a defective model.
I love the mower. I just mowed and bagged my entire lawn, which has a lot of obstacles. The battery died after my final cut, and I was using the headlights.
Great video thanks I went and bought one with 7.5ah. Bigger wheels are for people with more uneven lawns to go over terrain easier is what I've heard
Good luck Justin
Just bought the EGO LM 2156, they have answered one of your wish lists with bigger tires and better looking.
Enjoy 👍🏻
Is it better than the LM2020SP STEEL DECK?
I wish they would get rid of the mulch plug all together, and use a lever to switch back and forth like the Toro 60v does. My gas honda push mower also has it. I switched to Ego for signle stage snwo blower last winter. I purchased the trimmer and blower this summer. I was going to purchase the mower, but the Honda is still going strong. My back yard slops slight to the back, and the last 20-30% of the grass grows faster when we have rain. Being able to mulch the first 70% and then simply switch to bagging without having to stop and remove or insert a mulch plug is very convenient
What is the difference between the LM2150SP and the LM2156SP?
6 comes with battery and charger
Much appreciated Gene
I just bought a new (manufacture mark says March 2023) LM2156SP (kit with LM2150 mower). I just tried it out, and it does NOT have the problem you mentioned with the drive disengaging when pulling back. Additionally, the 2023 LM2156 has 8 levels, not 7, and goes down to about 1". It seems they change the design and kept the same model number.
You are the lucky one 👍🏼
Even my new LM2167sp still does it
@@TechMadeEzy, I just got mine.
@disphoto love the 2156 💪🏼
@@TechMadeEzy I had LM2156sp for 2 months and have not had the issue with the drive wheels being engaged while backing up.
How do you clean your mower after your done? With my gas mower I just use the garden hose.
I usually will wipe it down but here is when I do a deep cleaning if I have to How I clean my EGO Mower Deck NO HOSE NEEDED
th-cam.com/video/psqZ5IZpLiY/w-d-xo.html
Can I just say this is the first time I've used the ego I like it more than any push mower just from today
Thanks David
2115 i believe them holes are designed for air flow to keep the motor cool
I like the idea that I can use the Ego battery on other Ego devices but is that 10a battery too big to use on a blower or weed whacker?
This is the solution, Evan a 12ah battery
th-cam.com/video/QHS20WFTBQ0/w-d-xo.html
How bout the option of charging the battery without removing it from the mower?? (cable run from the charger to the mower)
Hi Bob, No option for that
I just bought a brand-new LM2156SP kit (with an LM2156SP mower), and it has 8 (not 7) height settings.
Yup, I learned this recently, great for the consumer 👍🏼
My number 1 wish list item: Automatic poop scoop. I love my ego mower. I’ve had it 3 months
Lol
#1 like in no particular order....
Thanks KLF Thanks for your comments and thank you for watching
My mower also engages the self propelle sometimes it lockes the right rear wheel and other times it will create a small amount of drag making the mower slightly harder to push but the causes wheel marks in the lawn
You should get an Allett Stirling to try out on the lawn. They partnered with EGO to make a cylinder mower. I really want one.
Never heard will have to look that up thanks Mr Made
@@TechMadeEzy It's rather expensive though lol I have their liberty 43 mower along side my ego and it's wonderful.
Only thing I'd add to the wishlist is a quick flap for mulch plug like Toro has...
Great idea thank you so much for watching
@@TechMadeEzy np & thnx for the content. Good luck w the channel!
Turbo!
Great video. I hope Ego makes a Commercial mower soon.
That would be a great Idea, they have other commercial products
Great review sir. Thank you !
Thank you I’m glad you liked it
One thing that disappoints me about the the self propelled features of all of these electric mowers is that you have to set a speed and then when you push the button it goes at that speed. I really like the variable speed on my old Toro gas powered mower where you you just push, the harder you push the faster the you go
LM2167SP (not yet released) may have this ‘push harder/go faster’ feature
Just did a short review on that new line up
th-cam.com/video/-L0-GY7L9nk/w-d-xo.html
@@TechMadeEzy Yep, got the notification and watched it right after you put it out. But it's much too late now, and just disappoints me even more since I just bought mine without that feature a few months back...😢 And I'm not rich, this one is going to have to last me a decade at least hopefully.
I hear you
Great dog!
Thanks buddy she’s in heaven now we lost her last July
You can use the fast charger on any of the batteries, but try not to fast charge all the time

Is using the bag necessary when mulching?
Not at all and if anything the mulch plug won’t stay in if the bag is on. Mulching requires the door to be shut and it applies pressure against the mulch plug
Thanks though I sure wish you would have showed us what you mean by "the motor engages when I pull back" (when using manual mode).
It doesn’t always happen that’s the challenge. It happens probably about 25% of the time.
Thanks.

But thank you
@@TechMadeEzy Have you heard of my issue. Is that something you can ask EGO about?
There's definitely a lot more competition and even more coming and to my knowledge repairs take much longer than that
Honda gas mowers require an authorized Honda repair shop.
These are ball bearing wheels.
Nice video. This one is not on my budget. Can you put a video on the best budget models? I feel the push mower will be better than the self-propelled I.e. In terms of weight, cost, and the reserve issue. Can you recommend an Ego Push lawn mower with a battery?
This is a steal but I believe it’s a push mower no self propel sold by Amazon amzn.to/3MtBVjR
I have the XP and I, too, have that issue with the motor engaging when backing up. I’m not at all certain about this but I think my hands might be accidentally hitting the drive buttons when I change hand position to back up. As I’ve gotten used to using the machine, it’s happening less and less.
You have to move the mower forward a few inches after releasing the self propel function and it will release so you can move it backwards.
Except when you aren't using self propel and it still catches... Something they need to improve on
@@TechMadeEzy exactly the issue with mine.
Nope
More power is always welcome 😜.
Really like my. It cuts great, easy to use.
Do you store battery in lawnmower compartment when not in use? Thanks
HI Jon, No, I'm bring them inside, my garage and shed are not temperature regulated. I keep them in my basement.
