UPDATE: Sorry that this is long, but it is very necessary for any of you considering this mower. As someone who used to work in the audio industry, you are correct. Decibels are not on a linear scale, they are logarithmic. If this were an amplifier, the 10 db increase is "twice as loud" and would require 10 times the amplifier to achieve. You can continue that relationship as you climb the scale. As you mentioned, the wind noise from the mower blades isn't the issue. The motor whine from the drive motor is a deal breaker for me. There is no reason for it to be so loud (it isn't that loud on the other models or other brands). I was considering buying this mower as I like the power and aluminum deck, so hopefully this issue is resolved, otherwise I will pass on it.
Yes, it's not the overall volume but the high frequency pitch of the engaged self propelled system is super irritating. I doubt the Milwaukee or Makita is anything like that.
For anyone wondering like I was, the Ego Commercial model LMX5300E does not have the loud self propelled noise. It has some noise but nothing you can hear with the blade on. Much less than on my 2156.
@@randomrazr It depends. The commercial mower does not come with batteries or a charger. I have several 12 and 10ah batteries so buying a bare tool was not an issue for me. If you don't have the batteries and are just using it residentially I can't rationalize the cost of the commercial mower plus batteries and a charger. If you do have them I feel it is a better machine. Larger motor 14.8 ft lbs, dual batteries, larger metal wheels, better self propelled system, more sturdy handle system, and I prefer the speed adjuster on it. I do like touch drive vs the bail, I think it's faster to push a button vs pulling a bail. I'm not 100% on all the differences. EGO says their commercial lines do not share a single part with their residential despite looking similar but without tearing them both down I can't say for sure. If you have the batteries for sure buy the commercial machine, if not, get the LM2206SP and I'm sure it will do the job. The LMX5300SP is like the LM2206SP turned to 11. Do you NEED it... nah... do you want it... absolutely.
@@shanew7361 Yes, they are a single. What makes you think a single blade does a bad job? That is 100% marketing. You will not find dual blades on anything commercial because it negatively affects lift and durability with no proven improvement in cut if the deck is engineered properly. A 90k Toro grounds machine doesn't need it to cut a golf course so I think I'm ok with a single too. I prefer more lift and a more stout blade. Yes the handles only fold at the base so it will take up more space when stored. This is because most failures are within the wiring and switches on the folding handles so they eliminated that failure point. I think you are trying to compare a machine built for commercial use to a residential one. They are built for different uses. 1 focuses on features and space saving and the other on power, runtime and durability. If you are using it residentially then you really have to weigh the pros and cons of each. I am of the you get what you pay for camp and so far 0 complaints with the commercial unit. One interesting thing I have noticed. With last years touch drive I would use 1.5-2 10ah batteries to cut my yard and I would push it. With this unit on turbo, using self propelled and the same 10ah batteries I only use 30% of each. Either the motor is far more efficient or pulling from both batteries is easier on them and they loose less capacity to heat. After running on turbo both batteries are room temp. The other mower they would get noticeably warm. Perhaps this will help extend their life but 100% just my opinion. Last consideration would be availability. Last I checked the commercial units were on back order till the middle or end of June.. either way you will be getting a good machine. If the extra power, runtime and durability are important to you go commercial. If not, save the money and go residential.
I appreciate your EGO reviews. I ordered the SNT2405 snow blower a few months ago (because of that... over halfway through winter and not a single snow yet!). I just ordered the LM2206SP a couple weeks ago too. I agree it isn't nearly as loud as my old Honda. I also completely understand that kind of noise can be very annoying to some. The propel system does sound like the battery cars kids ride around their yard. I'm not a fan of the sound myself, but will definitely be keeping the mower. Maybe growing up as a farm kid with tractors and gas engines makes me think of battery as "lessor than", but over the past couple years I've been making the switch to battery on my yard tools and saws. If I'm being honest... they aren't cheaper but they are every bit as powerful and sometimes... much easier to deal with. Thanks again for your review!
I picked up the EGO LM2206SP a few days ago and mowed my backyard today. Normally I wear earmuffs when using my Toro gas mower. I do not have a noise meter for comparison measurement; however, I did not feel the need to wear them today. I used the turbo setting and self-propelled feature (both make some noise), but the EGO electric mower did not seem so loud that I would need to wear my earmuffs. I always wear them when using gas mowers.
Thank you for this particular review. I had just sold my old Honda and my next purchase was this new mower. Until.... I saw the same online review. After watching this, all trepidation resolved. Thank you!
I been worried about the sound after reading some reviews and didn’t realize it was just the self propelled people were complaining about because the reviews I read made it sound like the mower in general whined. It doesn’t even sound that bad ahah I actually like how much more powerful it sounds!! Thanks for posting I been waiting for ya to compare mowers. I wanna get one but might have to wait next season
Thanks for this video...really like your style! For now, I'm sticking with my HRX217 which has been exceptionally reliable and cuts like a dream. Want to go electric, but don't see spending a lot of money doing it.
Great comparison video… noise level isn’t much louder to the point one should be complaining about. Take into consideration that LM2206SP has longer blades with significantly higher torque and rpm, noise level will increase but no where near that noise of a gas mower. Time to save up for this bad boy!
FYI most people can hear a 3db increase, and it's not that bad. 70-75 db would be a loud home stereo but not crazy loud. The standard gas powered mower is typically around 90 db. If your hearing is important to you then always wear ear protection. Good review using a proper sound meter.
I've been waiting for this mower and will probably still buy it, IF Lowe's will start carrying the lm2200sp, tool only, I have 2 10 amp batteries from my EGO snowblower... Some people here are complaining about hearing damage, I'm 72, did 2 tours in Vietnam without hearing protection, lot's of gunfire, explosions, hueys, etc... flew jets and turboprops my entire career, ride a loud motorcycle and my hearing still tests perfect... i hear little sounds my wife can't hear... this mower isn't going to damage your hearing... I do wish it didn't have the whine though, that's a little irritating...
You know me I'm always just sharing information but that isn't the final call you guys make the final call I hope you're happy with it I still have it I can't wait for the grass to grow so I can use it
Looked like a 10db difference. Looked on Google for a sound level chart. One site listed 70 to 80db to be in the range of an alarm clock to a washing machine. Al, you said it, it's still quieter than a gas mower. 👍 must be the new improved blade😉 Nice review, thank you.
I saw a very consistent 3db difference, not 10?? I would agree the pitch was higher and a bit more annoying, but the sound pressure was hardly higher. I am going to check these levels against my reliable, 30 year old Honda HR215SX self propelled gas mower as I also have a sound meter that I use for calibrating my home theatre speakers. I suspect gas will be louder, but will see. I own several EGO lawn tools and batteries and have been waiting for a mower to finally retire my trusty Honda. This may be the one...
80 db is two times louder to humans than 70 db (correction: it seems the more correct difference would actually be whopping 10 times louder; feel free to correct me). 3 db difference in this context would be, what, twice as loud? In other words, 80+ is, in fact, loud and the difference between the two here was very substantial. Personally, I found both to be very loud, but perhaps the power is, indeed, superior.
@@chrism8013 I hope you do know that every reputable brand (Makita, Stihl, Husqvarna, Bosch, etc. - sorry if these are not your known ones, I'm European) have numerous battery mowers available. I've had experience with a two year old Stihl only, it is much quieter than these two Chinese mowers. I do presume, however, that these two are considerably more powerful than the Stihl mower I'm talking about.
Another great video Steve. I'd probably hit the fence when in turbo :) I wear my ballistic earmuffs when mowing already, so a little whining won't bother me if it's got lower db noise than gas. With that much power though you would think they could make at least a 32" commercial walk behind mower.
Great video and I love the detailed reviews. Every 3db increase means a doubling in power of the sound wave. The results show 4 to 8x increase( and in some cases 16x). Technically that is a large increase. I think the polycarbonate deck provides more noise isolation and the motor on the 2206 is more powerful and may generate more noise.
I have had both of these mowers. I returned the plastic deck for the aluminum deck. The aluminum deck is a little louder, but a way better machine. The whine is annoying, honestly, it seems like this could be engineered to be quieter. But not a deal breaker. In reality, it sounds almost exactly like a power wheels ride-on car that 5 year olds ride around on down the street. That sound makes it feel kind of cheap to me, when the rest of the mower looks and sounds solid. But again, it pulls me up a hill far steeper than the near flat slope Ego says to never go beyond , so it works… until I turn it off when someone walks by because it sounds like a kids toy.
An update 3 weeks later. I only hear the transmission noise at the higher speeds. It's not an issue at all. Three mows in, I'm also on the first battery charge. I love not smelling like gas exhaust after my yard work.
I just got the 2206 aluminum deck model for $1200 with the 10 amp battery and fast charger from Lowe’s. With the Ego deal, I got a “free” 5 amp hour battery also. It is much quieter IMO than my Honda HRX217. However, the self propelled mode is why it whines. If you just push, or push slow, there is no high pitch whine. Of course, The battery hardly drained at all doing my front yard which is a little less than 1/4 of an acre. I also got their aluminum weed eater and edger - separately. Not the changeable head set. It was less expensive to buy separate because the weed eater came with a charger and battery. So I got that and the edger for $179 each. But the edger was bare tool. The other option was buy the edger and the extra weed trimmer attachment which would have been $179 and $139 with no battery or charger…so that’s why I went the route with the aluminum trimmer on sale for $179 from $219. So, I paid $1504.35 for the new mower, weed eater, edger, 10 amp battery, 5 amp battery, 2.5 amp battery, fast charger and a normal charger. Note: I got 10% off for being a veteran
@@TechMadeEzy it did come with a third blade in the box. It did not come with rear side discharge chute. Only the bagger. You are very welcome. Thank you for supporting troops!
I used the new 22 inch mowers twice. The noise is NOT that bad. The complaints are over exaggerating it. NOWHERE near the noise of a gas mowers. Some people just want to complain for the sake of it.
Had to return mine today. On my second cut the transmission started making a clunking sound. I knew the whine of the transmission on the first day was going to be an issue. It wasn’t a constant loud whine but sounded like a noise something would make on its way out. And good luck trying to call ego. I was on the phone for ever and even if you request a call back which they eventually did they just let my phone ring once and then they hung up. This way so they can close it out and move on to the next caller. 1200 dollars and I wanted it so bad to work. Their lack of customer service sealed the deal for me.
Ok, as I said in my post below, I was going to wait until Lowe's got the tool only version but I was at Lowe's today and saw the mower with the free 5 amp battery promotion so I bought it. I had to find out about this whine, figured I could take it back if it bothered me... well, i'm very happy to report that the one I got has very very little noise from the self propelled mechanism, way way way less than is shown in this video, so little in fact that it's not even worth mentioning... MAYBE it has to do with manufacture date? mine was made 12/23... selling my Toro gas, can't wait for the grass to start growing so I can use this beast, I'm very impressed with the quality...
I just reviewed (again) the video and I see a consistent ~3db increase in sound pressure with the LM2206. Difference appears the same at both low and high speeds. Not sure where the 10db folks are talking about is coming from?? I would agree the pitch was higher and a bit more annoying, but the sound pressure was hardly higher. Would you say that high pitched whine is more prominent on the sound recordings vs in real life?? I am going to check these levels against my reliable, 30-year-old Honda HR215SX self-propelled gas mower as I also have a sound meter that I use for calibrating my home theatre speakers. I suspect gas will be louder but will see. I own several EGO lawn tools and batteries and have been waiting for a mower to finally retire my trusty Honda. This may be the one...
Wow… I just measured 98 dB for my perfectly maintained Honda mower with blades spinning and propelled at low speed!! That’s over 15db louder than that LM2200!! No contest…I’m trading in.
The improvements of the deck look great but the winding noise it makes for me is a definitely NO. Absolutely horrible that engineers are ok with that noise. I was looking forward to the new mower but not any more. For now I keep my Toro Super Recycler 60V which is a beast. I have EGO weed eater and blower but ended up selling the Select Cut mower for the reason of the drive system which I hated. To me the best drive is the Toro, Honda and Milwaukee lever style which feel more natural. Thank you for the video
Last year I was excited about the LM2167SP until I learned how bad the self propel was. Excited again to see this new model. And disappointed again by the noise. I'm all in with the EGO ecosystem. But I might upgrade my LM2114 to a Toro like you. Never been 100% happy with the EGO cut.
Saw some reviews on Lowes about the whine and people returning the mower because of it. I don't think it's about the overall loudness, I think the louder high pitch whine is what people are having issues with. High pitch whines like that can be very irritating compared to louder lower pitch noises.
So I want a new EGO mower for another property.....currently have a LM2150SP XP Select Cut. But need another mower...question is - is the LM2206SP have a better cut and worth the price hike over the LM2156sp? I do bag so I know on the LM2206SP I would also have to buy the high lift blade as it does not come with it.🤔
Hi Rich, So first impressions The Aluminum deck model is definitely heavier noticeably heavier if weight isn't an issue I can't speak to cutting yet I'm working on some videos now. As far as the high lift blade what I would do is check with ego because they were including a sheet in the Box saying if you register the mower Within a certain period of time you would get a free high lift blade. That's what I had to do in order to get the blade sent to me good luck stay in touch let me know what you end up doing
Oddly mine isn't very loud definitely cannot be heard over 2 and turbo mode on the blade speed. I will say the mower comes poorly packaged for a 1200 usd product and could see them being easily damaged during shipping.
The new model has a much faster RPM blade speed. All good in my book. The drive system is rather noisy like a kids battery controlled riding toy. I actually like the sound from a gas mower . I believe the new Ego will cut well.
Hello, I saw Lowe’s is offering a deal buy the mower and get a free 5 amp battery. Do you think the spare 5 amp battery is sufficient to support this mower? Thank you for your videos because you educate many of us on awesome products. Thank you friend.
Question for anybody that has the 2206 does the ego roller kit fit on the 22 inch mower as it fits the older 21 inch mowers. Hate to upgrade the mower and waste the roller kit.
@TechMadeEzy Steve, one guy was saying that the high pitch gearbox whine in the new 2206 was of the old speed IQ models? Another guy said that his new commercial version of the 2206 didn't have the shreaky whine. You have a speed IQ. Any truth to this do ya think? If so, that gives us hope that once they run out of those gear boxes, we can get a 2206 without the excessive whine. Thoughts? Thanks
I would say this new model is louder but still not so loud that I would return it based on a first impression. Still winter so I can’t use it to cut grass yet.
a 75DBA average VS 78DBA average is double the sound energy, BUT it doesnt sound twice as loud to your ear, BUT the quieter one is half as hard on your hearing as the louder one. my honda registers 90DBA at that same position!. 90DBA is 16 times the sound energy as 78DBA!. 78DBA is safe sound exposure up to 4 hours a day, 90DBA is safe ONLY for up to 15 minutes!, beyond these numbers and you risk hearing loss. I NEVER operate a mower or string trimmer without earplugs.
Man i want this so bad, but i just cant with that whining sound! Also hear that the blade is not 22" either. Ive had my ego mower for about 4 years now and was really interested in the aluminum deck but im out with that drive system. Wish they would sell this mower without the drive system. I seriously dont understand why you need one anyway its not like these mowers are hard to push.
82 decibels is much louder than 72. 82 is definitely approaching hearing loss at sustained exposure. I just bought a new 2156 yesterday because of the great deal I received. The Ego 2156 I purchased surprised me. It was louder than I thought it would be. Having said that, it was still much quieter than my gas Toro. I have at least 6-8 weeks here before the grass starts growing and I have a chance to use it to cut, but like I said, I couldn’t pass up the great deal offered this month. Lowe’s is offering 100 dollars off 849. Plus if you take out a credit card with them you receive a 20% off voucher upto $100. That brought it down to 649. Ego is offering a Free 5AH battery that Lowe’s is honoring right at the store. So I got an additional $299.00 battery for free, with the included 10AH battery in the box. I was going to buy the Milwuakee but at 1099 for that, I couldn’t pass this deal up.
More annoying than louder? I watch my neighbors mow with their electric (wimpy unknown brands) mowers and am jealous of how quiet they are I plan on getting an ego push mower. About 1/3 acre lot. Was intrigued by the new bigger more powerful one but I don’t know if that whine would be any better than my gas I’m not mowing a weed patch so probably don’t need the extra torque and the price difference is significant The 2156 sounds 😂 like a better pick
These mowers are so light, the self-propelled feature is silly. I have the 2015 LM2000-S and it still does a great job of cutting and mulching. The original battery just quit charging in November. I bought the second generation for my business property and it has an one inch wider cut, and a better design for disassembly. Otherwise, they are the same. I cut about half an acre at the highest setting. One thing I learned is, the high-lift/bagging blade cuts and mulches much better than the mulching blade. If you like to cut your lawn very short, the mulching blade may work better. I do not know because I would never do that. Regardless, these mowers are very quiet compared to gas engines. The problem is that they offer fewer push models each year.
man the sound on that self-propelled on the new one is absolutely unbearable. ty god i didn't buy one yet and i was just looking around first. it's not the fact that it is louder but the pitch of the wine for my ears is unbearable. I can't stand it if feel like someone is using nails on a chalkboard
I have a new Toro battery mower, it sucks, drive wheel falls off in 2nd hour, battery shorts, and on-line Toro will not take it back. They do not take items back if you use it for 1 minute! Their rear left geared wheel unbolts itself from the bracket, it self destructs! Two others have the same problem. Their repair dealer literally told me "with Toro, its Buyer Beware". I have a Toro case number, a BBB case number, and a US Consumer Product Safety Commission case number. Save yourself and learn from my mistake, and stay away from Toro.
Thanks for the review, but honestly, who’s the softy complaining about how “noisy” a lawn mower is? Comon, man - there are worse problems in this world. Pay someone to do it if you can’t wear ear protection.
It really didn't seem as loud to me but again certain people are definitely more sensitive I'm excited to see how this performs when the grass starts growing thanks for your comment
That whiny pitch is absolutely horrendous. Sounds like a child's toy car, and fingernails on a chalkboard. Love EGO hand tools, but the mowers are nuts with those sounds.
Of course it’s not louder than a gasser but it’s actually more painful to listen to. Awful sounding drive on both of them. And this new one is over 1000 dollars! Sounds like one of those annoying power wheels rich kids get for their birthday. I’d be that annoying neighbor if I owned one of these. No thanks. Gotta look into the toro 60v super recycler I guess.

Thanks Robert appreciate your support as well
I picked up the EGO LM2206SP a few days ago and mowed my backyard today.
Thank you!
Thanks
I been worried about the sound after reading some reviews and didn’t realize it was just the self propelled people were complaining about because the reviews I read made it sound like the mower in general whined. It doesn’t even sound that bad ahah I actually like how much more powerful it sounds!! Thanks for posting I been waiting for ya to compare mowers. I wanna get one but might have to wait next season
Thais Jared 👍🏼
Thanks for this video...really like your style! For now, I'm sticking with my HRX217 which has been exceptionally reliable and cuts like a dream. Want to go electric, but don't see spending a lot of money doing it.
Hi Allen thanks, I will tell you that you can pay half the price and get an electric mower. Ego is a good brand, GreenWorks, Toro and more.
Thanks!
Thank you
First!! I've been waiting on this Tech made easy!! Thank you!!
Thanks 🏆
What did you think of the video?
Excellent comparison!
@brady50429 thanks
@@TechMadeEzy It's not noticeable while the mower is running with the blades on.
Here it is from Amazon direct free shipping and full EGO warranty amzn.to/4c4uF8s
@@TechMadeEzyThanks but I bit the bullet and got the LM2206SP, see my post about about the noise...
You know me I'm always just sharing information but that isn't the final call you guys make the final call I hope you're happy with it I still have it I can't wait for the grass to grow so I can use it
Thank you for your military service!
Glad to see this matchup thanks!
Thanks
I believe they now include the High Lift blade with the system. It seems to reflect on their site
Thanks
Thanks for the video. I love it so far. I got the Xp cut version as I’m one of those go big or go home.
Thank you
Considering the blade does spin at a higher rpm and more torque doesn't seem like a bad trade off at all.
Looked like a 10db difference. Looked on Google for a sound level chart. One site listed 70 to 80db to be in the range of an alarm clock to a washing machine. Al, you said it, it's still quieter than a gas mower. 👍 must be the new improved blade😉 Nice review, thank you.
It may be quieter than gas, but the pitch of it is so annoying. Until EGO can shut that noise down, gas mower all the way.
Old was 76db. New was 82db
Another great video Steve. I'd probably hit the fence when in turbo :) I wear my ballistic earmuffs when mowing already, so a little whining won't bother me if it's got lower db noise than gas. With that much power though you would think they could make at least a 32" commercial walk behind mower.
Hi Rick, Al here, Steve handles social media thanks for watching
@@TechMadeEzy Doh, sorry. I should have known that. Just replied to him on FB.
@rickgrecula4359 no worries buddy
Thanks and thanks for the info as well
I have had both of these mowers.
Awesome thanks
1st thank you for your service 🇺🇸
Question
Did you get the high lift blade and the rear side discharge?
@@TechMadeEzy it did come with a third blade in the box.
It did not come with rear side discharge chute. Only the bagger.
You are very welcome. Thank you for supporting troops!
How’s the cut quality compared to your HRX217?
@@Asad-vv5zh fantastic. Better than my hrx.
I used the new 22 inch mowers twice. The noise is NOT that bad. The complaints are over exaggerating it. NOWHERE near the noise of a gas mowers. Some people just want to complain for the sake of it.
Agree it didn’t bother me but I know there’s some people out there that are definitely more sensitive to sound
I want buy one but..the Reserve Batteries are expensive..😒
Thanks for sharing and enjoy the mower stay in touch
great video, i would like for you to take it one more step and run a gas mower to show the difference between gas and electric

Here is our noise test video

Last year I was excited about the LM2167SP until I learned how bad the self propel was. Excited again to see this new model. And disappointed again by the noise. I'm all in with the EGO ecosystem. But I might upgrade my LM2114 to a Toro like you. Never been 100% happy with the EGO cut.
@infotime once the grass starts to grow I’ll do some tests, but I didn’t really think it was that loud but again for certain people I can understand
Saw some reviews on Lowes about the whine and people returning the mower because of it. I don't think it's about the overall loudness, I think the louder high pitch whine is what people are having issues with. High pitch whines like that can be very irritating compared to louder lower pitch noises.
Maybe , that’s valid and I understand that point
Great review! Looking forward to a Ego 2206sp vs Milwaukee Mower head-to-head... 🙏🍻
Thank you
I Really like this mower.. my concern is that the blade is not a true 22" cutting size.🤔
I understand, I’m excited to use it when the grass starts growing
Our older EGO backend tends to lift up a little bit when the self propel is engaged even at slow speeds. Does the new aluminum one have this problem?
No not for me
@@TechMadeEzy thanks!
Great video, thank you!
Thanks Nicolas 👍🏻 what mower do you have?
@@TechMadeEzy I just purchased the LM2156SP. first mower in a long time lol
Well, you have the right one Nicolas! Stay in touch and thank you for watching
So I want a new EGO mower for another property.....currently have a LM2150SP XP Select Cut. But need another mower...question is - is the LM2206SP have a better cut and worth the price hike over the LM2156sp? I do bag so I know on the LM2206SP I would also have to buy the high lift blade as it does not come with it.🤔
Hi Rich,
So first impressions The Aluminum deck model is definitely heavier noticeably heavier if weight isn't an issue I can't speak to cutting yet I'm working on some videos now. As far as the high lift blade what I would do is check with ego because they were including a sheet in the Box saying if you register the mower Within a certain period of time you would get a free high lift blade. That's what I had to do in order to get the blade sent to me good luck stay in touch let me know what you end up doing
Can you review the new commercial version, lmx5300sp? That is supposed to be the most powerful push mower on the market. Thanks!
I'm planning on it but we will see I'm trying to work on my budget and things are getting expensive
Una pregunta los modelos que enseño, no se levanta la cortadora cuando mete la trasmisión? Gracias
Oddly mine isn't very loud definitely cannot be heard over 2 and turbo mode on the blade speed. I will say the mower comes poorly packaged for a 1200 usd product and could see them being easily damaged during shipping.
The the self propel make that noise when it is off?
@thamadrabbit2979 no only engine noise when self propelled is not engaged.
The new model has a much faster RPM blade speed. All good in my book. The drive system is rather noisy like a kids battery controlled riding toy. I actually like the sound from a gas mower . I believe the new Ego will cut well.
👍🏼
Hello, I saw Lowe’s is offering a deal buy the mower and get a free 5 amp battery. Do you think the spare 5 amp battery is sufficient to support this mower? Thank you for your videos because you educate many of us on awesome products. Thank you friend.
Hey thanks bud! 👍🏼
nice to have an additional battery and you can use that in the mower for a short while but also on blowers and other tools
I would have liked a quick comparison to an average gas mower if you had one around. would have really set the record strait.
Time to get his trusty Honda mower out again
Question for anybody that has the 2206 does the ego roller kit fit on the 22 inch mower as it fits the older 21 inch mowers. Hate to upgrade the mower and waste the roller kit.
Good question
The whine probably is worse due to resonating thru the aluminum body. In order to have a strong reliable gear drive it will be noisy
Does the new one have a steel deck? Or aluminum
Hi Kevin Aluminum, here is our 1st video of you want to see more
th-cam.com/video/-7CIAiuO2Pk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_ZTfSGnMEuixnFeM
I hear a screeching sound. Do all ego mowers make that sound?
Most make a sound but it's not annoying from my experience but people are saying this one is definitely louder
The self propel motor sounds the same (albeit annoying) to me.
You don't hear that while in use with grass.
Is the noise still there when the touch drive is off?
Hi yes when the blade is spinning, it’s going to have some noise again. It just depends on how sensitive you are to noise.
Turbo on but only medium setting!😂
Oh Brother......the cry babies Crack me up!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
82 decibels is much louder than 72. 82 is definitely approaching hearing loss at sustained exposure.
Definitely a good deal. Thanks for sharing Bill.
More annoying than louder?
I watch my neighbors mow with their electric (wimpy unknown brands) mowers and am jealous of how quiet they are
I plan on getting an ego push mower. About 1/3 acre lot. Was intrigued by the new bigger more powerful one but I don’t know if that whine would be any better than my gas
I’m not mowing a weed patch so probably don’t need the extra torque and the price difference is significant
The 2156 sounds 😂 like a better pick
That Self Propel whine is REALLY high pitched and overtakes just about everything when it's going. Definitely annoying to me.
The metal is pro line less than a normal new model
its louder beaucse it has more power... simple math. the old one has less torque and less blade rpm
Self propel has that wine but it's fine
The power of the mower has absolutely nothing to do with the drive noise.
Pro tip: use headphones and listen to music
lol 😂
Wow pretty load Battery..
My Husqvarna 21”gas Honda GS160 has almost same Decibel Rating..🧐
man the sound on that self-propelled on the new one is absolutely unbearable. ty god i didn't buy one yet and i was just looking around first. it's not the fact that it is louder but the pitch of the wine for my ears is unbearable. I can't stand it if feel like someone is using nails on a chalkboard
AirPods. Problem solved.
IMO, it's the warbling, oscillation of the high frequency noise that drives people insane, more than the "loudness".
Sorry to hear that
Thanks for the review, but honestly, who’s the softy complaining about how “noisy” a lawn mower is? Comon, man - there are worse problems in this world. Pay someone to do it if you can’t wear ear protection.
They'll be real quite soon.
Ego is junk. $600 mower dead after 5x
Oh man, that whine is pretty annoying. Wow.
New Ego lmx5300sp is quiet👌🏼
