  • For those of you who are familiar with David Copperfield, one of the most amazing illusions that he demonstrated is making a statue of liberty disappear. Even though the illusion is very amazing, I always wonder why he wanted to make it disappear since it is one of the greatest symbols of the United States. So today, I will make the statue of liberty appear!!!! Please enjoy the video.

      At the beginning he is holding the wall and with the thumb the figure.
      He demonstrate only the front of the wall. After putting the box at first, he unlock the wall shows you complete and push forward the figure while lock the wall. The figure is there all the time. You can't see nothing througe the box.
      The box on the front has a foil like a mirror.

    The plastic box has a special angled front pane which is angled from the inside. At the correct camera angle you cannot see anything behind it. The reason he takes the striped wall off for a second time is because he has snuck the statue of liberty on the ledge behind the wall. He takes the wall off and when he replaces it you can see him slide it towards the box from the back of the base, pushing the statue in place. A very smooth illusion!

    Cool illusion! Although, I did hear the plastic surfaces (of the statue and the wall) bump each other when you first replaced the wall onto the base with the statue behind it. The click sound occurred after you reinstalled the wall or "curtain," and this cannot be explained away. Secondly, I could see the outline, the reversed aura of an object in the center of the box where the light would not ordinarily pass through. Most curious, that the area around the hidden object appears to give off more light than the rest of the box does!

  • @PoltergeistWorks

    The trick is all in the glass box, that's not exactly transparent, but has a pattern to it (most likely vertical) that only allows cerain visibility. You can see the lines reflecting in the box 0:34. The statue is indeed all the time behind the wall. The moment when he pushes it forward is 1:00 (he pushed it using the wall, you can hear it and see it).

  • @yamato905
    @yamato905 8 ปีที่แล้ว +227

    i saw you pushed the statue towards the box when you reinstalled the backwall. You had the statue behind the wall the whole time. And the box is not really transparent. It refract (i.e. not reflect, not transparent) light from behind it. There is a blind spot where the box doesn't refract any light from, and that's where the statue was hidden after you pushed it in front of the wall. You gave the trick away when you were installing the backwall behind the box. You had the wall NOT totally horizontal for a split second, and yet the lines we see through the box WERE horizontal. Proving the point your box was refracting light..
    Great trick though.

    at the beginning the statue is behind the wall. When he picks up the wall the first time he is holding the statue behind the wall with his thumb. When he picks up the wall the second time he leaves the statue behind the box. notice when he puts the wall back down he slides it in from the back, sliding the statue into the "transparent" box. Then he just picks up the box and boom there goes the statue.

    @fairrttg989 6 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @peoplez129
    @peoplez129 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    So the trick is this: 1) The statue is behind the wall at the start. 2) He holds it behind the wall when he lifts the wall. 3) When he sets the 'box' down and removes the wall it gives the illusion that nothing is there behind the box, the statue is moved forward in front of the wall as he replaces the wall. The reason why you can't see the statue is because the box is a non transparent lens that magnifies, stretches and displays things off to the side of the box. That's how it looks like it's transparent because it reflects the blue bars, but it's not actually showing the blue bars directly behind it.

  • @johnWick-lu3ev

    i have some idea i don't know if its possible but if its possible the effect is good, you know that if you rotate the sunglass with ultra violet 180 degree you cant see something on the lcd? if you can print something like that lcd on a clear glass and use the ultra violet tint on the upper glass you can have the invisible effect.

    • @abu269
      @abu269 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      mos ab I noticed that too. I think I've spotted the trick... The tint on the box makes grey invisible. The SoL figurine was on the tray the whole time. At 1:01 he pushes the figurine into the tinted box using the wall before clicking into place. Because of the colour of the statue, it cannot be seen on the outside of the box. If he was to put the box over the statue again, I bet it would disappear.

    • @TheNavvaK
      @TheNavvaK 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      abu269 If the box doesn't allow you to see grey, it doesn't mean you can see the wall through the Statue of Liberty. There is no such things as invisibility.

    • @abu269
      @abu269 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      NavvaK I'm not saying that it's invisible but more of an optical illusion, making it appear invisible to the human eye. The box is not clearly transparent which is the first giveaway. The second was when he planted the statue in the box at 1:01. The fact that we can't see the statue when inside the box has something to do with the tint on the box itself.

    When I saw the "clear box" I thought it looked like frosted glass, I'm guessing this blurs the statue enough so it isn't seen? Pretty cool trick.

    • @segments2156
      @segments2156 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's some sort of lenticular, it blurs the background but only in one direction. Since the "wallpaper" is just horizontal stripes, you don't see the difference when blured, but any thin vertical object will become invisible.
      Had he turned the wall 90° to make the stripes vertical, it would have been totally blury

  • @jinsong6940
    @jinsong6940 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The box is kind of a mirror of the sides, it reflects the side walls and hides the middle. He has the statue behind the wall and slides it into the box when he puts the wall down for the last time.

  • @tallyhoviper645
    @tallyhoviper645  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Th statue is placed behind the striped board, you cleverly move the board backwards once yoi have placed the glass box in front of it. The glass box create an illusion that conceal the statue.
    But I very much enjoy your show. You got a great Showmanship there! Keep your spirit and I hope you can be a famous magician one day!

    The box is a diffraction grating which bends the stripes of the wall. He pushes the statue forward with the wall the last time he puts the wall on.

    Good magic trick. However, next you should replace the statue with a live mouse or a tarantula.

    Pretty cool. But I see that when you put the box down (which is angled to hide something behind it) you only lifted the wall. The statue of liberty was behind it so you just placed the wall behind it and pushed the statue forward and snapped the wall in place. Then removed the box. Still really impressive.

    Really simple. Repositioned the back wall after putting the "transparent" box In front of it and thus the wall is now behind the statue which csnnot be seen through the box because of its color is so similar to the "transparent" box

    This "clear" box just expand one vertical strip of the background to the whole width. It can be very well seen on your glasses, which don't look like glasses behind the "clear" box.
