Dude, the real magic here is that I watched this one video and suddenly a set of David Blaine's playing cards somehow ordered themselves, got shipped, and are on the way to my house. Crazy!
Another thing with the black lions, on the jokers, if you look in the bird’s mouth, he is holding a card, on one it’s the back and the other it’s the front of the card.
Theory 11 has a deck of cards called NPH cards........or Neil Patrick Harris cards and the whole deck it self is a puzzle and each card gives you a clue to the final puzzle. I have yet to solve it but you might get it so I thought that would be cool to see you try to solve it..... just an idea!
Picked up a few of the White Lions tour edition when i went to see David in November. They are amazing quality and with all these hidden gems makes them one the best decks on the market!!
Never thought about "hollusions"/ "stereograms" being involved, but I'm so thankful that I'm able to easily see the 3D effect in these types of images. Actually, depending on how far you are from the card, you can get different configurations. But yes, on the first card, those two lines are the deepest. I'm seeing it more as the center row of symbols, not so much the lines. So, I'd have to train myself to think in terms of lines and not symbols....at least with that deck. With the ace, I really started to pick up on it. To me, it looks like a step, but the step is deeper than the others, hence (in your description) "a wider line". Regarding suit, the first thing I noticed was the difference in color shade in that top left corner. In fact, that's what I thought might be designating the number when you began the tutorial. Now, to me, identifying this is harder than the eye adjustment for number. Of course, it's like anything else. Just work on it enough and it will become second nature. I used to play poker for a living when I was 19-20. One of the things I taught myself (aside from reading tells from opponents), was to ID my cards by only having the very edge of the number showing. Maybe a less than 1/32" and it was again, thru sheer repetition. Back then, unless you lived in a bigger city, you had to discover things on your own. There was no internet back then. Now I'm now wondering what differences there are between the WL-R ($12 d), the WL-B ($12 d)and the WL-SB-BL ($20 d) Aside from the obvious, of course....laymen obvious. Excellent video Mr Ramsay! Always compelling.....
I just got this deck recently. I found a much simpler way to read the lines. The half spades on the side(s) narrow it down to one or two options and the direction of the thicker line tells you exactly what the card is. For example: read the half spades on the side from bottom to top. If the 6th half spade is lighter, it means it is either a 6 or a Jack. The thicker line will always be right next to this lighter half spade. If the thicker line goes from bottom left to top right, it’s a 6. If the thicker line goes from bottom right to top left, it’s a jack. Kings are always and only the 8th half spade. Twos are always the second. An ace is always a singular corner half spade that is lighter. “Lighter” can also be described as not having a thick red line that the half spade has. Hopefully this tip helps.
There's also some interesting optical illusions on the Jokers. Plus, it also comes with a blank card and a double-backed card, so that's cool. I just got my hands on the White Lions Series B Red Deck, by the way. Really awesome!
Awesome video, I was considering getting them just for their beauty but this definitely sells them if I wasn’t convinced before. Thanks for helping me grow my new quarantine hobby 🤣👍🏻
Chris, my family situation isn’t the best at the moment but your videos make me feel better and when that Outro song hits I feel just a little bit happier.
Chris...I am 52 years old and you are making me interested in this stuff. I don't even know why I started watching one of your videos...but one, your videos are well, done...you are pretty funny/entertaining...but also you are great at showing the depth of this stuff. A world a never really knew about, cared about, and now I find myself just practicing basic card handing. Getting pretty good at the basics of controlling the top and bottom cards of a deck! Fun, fun, fun. Keep up the good videos. Non sequitur ...what camera do you record with?
Nicely done Chris! Wandered across this in one of my "Enh, I'll do my work in a few, need to look at this, and that, and..." I am an utterly NON-magic using/capable middle aged lady who simply loves pro's, and pro's that have deep mystery to them. Not the Cris Angel fake mystery, but Blaine works just fine for me on that. Plus? I find knowing some of the secrets seriously helps in my enjoyment of the tricks being used. I can watch for gives, and sleight of attitude used to distract the mark, etc. Doesn't hurt me or my enjoyment at all to know the secrets... Love the tricks even more watching a pro do them. Cheers!
I don't really comment on TH-cam videos but man hats off to your hardwork for spotting all this stuff,I hope we see you on a show one day doing magic. Love from India
Hey Chris! Just bought your "Knights" cards today! Both classic and the red ones. They are really classy and the quality is fantastic! My chess fan inside me is having a good time today! Thank you!
Merry Christmas man, thank you very much for all your effort making your videos, for me the theory and your thoughts about the craft are priceless, thank you again and greetins from Monterrey México
Super cool dude. I am glad you did a reveal of the marking system on David's cards. I've always thought those cards were super awesome and my personal favorites....fun fact....the queen of spades that is in a regular bicycle rider back deck....is holding the 6 of spades. Not sure if many folks knew that....just thought u might enjoy knowing that in case you didn't. Have a good day. Thanks for the video.
The expressions at the end of all of your videos are always awesome. You are awesome. Your life is awesome. People who watch your videos must be awesome.
Hope you have a good Christmas too man I’ve been practicing this trick you showed us on how to appear a card in mid air and it’s going pretty good so thank you man! Have a good Christmas and New Years !
I've got these exact White Lions. Tried seeing the lines, can't really do it. Need to persist! Edit: actually you're wrong on this one, Chris. It's not the lines, it's the half spades on the sides. You have to start counting from the bottom and find the lightest one. I.e. if it's the bottom one, it's 2. Second from the bottom - 3, etc. I'll let you figure out the 8 and up :)
Cypher I see what you're talking about now... When I look at back of card and look for white lines I can see bolder white lines but the lines that look bold to me don't always match up to which ones are suppose to be the bold lines.. So I can kinda see the way Chris is explaining but I do see what you are saying too. If you look at the half spades counting from the bottom like you said, the line that runs down the center is less bold on one compared to the rest. Also I was thinking white lions name came from telling "white lies" magicians are lying to you but they are small white lies. And so if you are lying or lyin or lion to someone about your trick your telling a white lie. Lying sounds kinda like lion. I could be totally wrong, that was just my take on the name.
Cypher what yo are saying is true because there is two lines in the negative space of the spades i.e exactly what Chris is saying. You are wrong here my friend. That other kid that made a tutorial saying what you are is wrong also. Keep looking
I want he white lions so bad but I can't afford them because of the exchange rate in South Africa And also because I'm 13 But either way as long as someone else can entertain me with them it's fine and that's why Chris Ramsay is awesome He is my role model and I have been practicing your tricks for about 6 months and I have been using a R5 pack of cards which is less than 50 cents I believe
So, like most regular people who only watch but don't practise magic, I'd never heard of "card marking" before. This blew my mind! I could actually see the lines :)
Hey Chris Ramsay I found your videos very interesting first found your puzzles solving videos on a fb friends facebook after the first video I was hooked watching your TH-cam videos. I was wounding if you can please do a video on 1. What are your top 5 Bike Cycle marked and reader decks and why ? 4.What marked and readers decks are good to start out with as beginners and why ?
Kinda funny I was never into magic but now I have kids and I learned a few simple card tricks to do with the kids now I find myself watching these videos and trying new tricks to show my kids lol keep the videos coming 😁
OMG I just purchased my first deck. I got the White Lions series B red. I already have so many other expensive hobbies. I know I'm going to get hooked.
I’m an artist, as is one of my step fathers - Eric Evans who’s been doing street magic professionally for decades. I think these kinds of subtle details are much easier to spot as Artists. Other friends who are visual artists agree. Still very very cool!
Also look on the left side of the card backs, one of those half spades should be lighter than all the others. This can help you narrow down the number, but usually it leaves you with two options. Hint: (count up to the light spade from the bottom of the card)
Wooooah I never knew they were marked that way. The white lions are double marked I guess? Because you can determine the suit + value from just the spades, without using the lines.
My grandfather used to travel from his hometown, Glasgow down to London & back. He'd go first class. He had some great card tricks, slight of hand etc he'd make small talk, this was in the 50's & 60's when people used to talk to each other on trains. On good days he'd make some decent money & mum got a present & some sweets perhaps. He would rinse money from the people he'd meet with his tricks. He taught me "find the queen" the three card trick people do on street corners, bars, parties. I used to do it at school winning some extra cash for sweets, arcade games & things kids like to spend on ✌🏼😁 Now I just do it for fun or to show off. Happy days & memories.
How many of these were you aware of before this video?!
Chris Ramsay me.
I only knew about the box reveal
Chris Ramsay I can only dream of pulling that hat off half as good as you do.
Errrm zero... man that is a lot of layers. Like it
Another thing about the White Lions is that David Blaine's last name is White.
Blaine is David's middle name.
Dude, the real magic here is that I watched this one video and suddenly a set of David Blaine's playing cards somehow ordered themselves, got shipped, and are on the way to my house. Crazy!
O.o
Same here!!!! Aaahhhh
Another thing with the black lions, on the jokers, if you look in the bird’s mouth, he is holding a card, on one it’s the back and the other it’s the front of the card.
Yes!
And if you remove something, an 8 D appears 😊
Chris Ramsay is my favorite Amish Magician.
CoolNotCool24 YT so stupid it’s a joke
CoolNotCool24 YT vos of the beard and the hat lol

Studson 25 I solved it, the reward is worth it - keep trying 👍🏼
Ik I just don't know where to start
Sam O'Leary i ordered the cards, getting them in a few days. Do i still get a reward or is the “contest” already over?
the reward is super awesome and totally worth it a tad bit tricky and you have to do some digging but once you get rolling its fun.
DenizUe no idea man, the way it’s been done I image they could keep going for a long time. Not saying any more than that :)
Picked up a few of the White Lions tour edition when i went to see David in November. They are amazing quality and with all these hidden gems makes them one the best decks on the market!!
how is the white lions tour edition compared to regular white lions?
Same quality I would say, different jokers and ad cards but other than that the same!
is the marking system the same on the tour editon

yes
I'm gonna be honest I didn't see the lines at all

Wow those messages are very subtle. That’s awesome! I’ve used marked decks and they’re subtle but these are even more hidden
You probably get this a lot, but your video and editing quality is some of the best I've ever seen. It's evident that you are passionate.
Kid Kittrell on this channel we have the content and the container :)
Kid Kittrell shut up!
Imagine playing poker with these cards lmao
Who's to say someone hasn't. ;)

I thought of that this morning hahaha

Awesome video, I was considering getting them just for their beauty but this definitely sells them if I wasn’t convinced before. Thanks for helping me grow my new quarantine hobby 🤣👍🏻
They are also marked along the long edge. There is a very subtle change in the width of the line that splits the spades in half
Chris, White Lions = WIDE Lines also, not just white lines. The marking is on white lines, done by wide lines :)
David, such a crazy bastard
Blaine is brilliant.
I used to not like the white lions at alllllll coz of their simple red design on the back, but now, it feels like the best deck 😂
I’ve just finished watching all of your videos. I’m sad that I caught up to real time. This is definitely my favorite TH-cam channel.
My favorite magician is Simon Aronson, any relation? He does memorized deck magic.
Chris, my family situation isn’t the best at the moment but your videos make me feel better and when that Outro song hits I feel just a little bit happier.

I started to question my eyes about those line thingies.

Thanks for this video just ordered the black lions. Hope the marked system works the same on them.
I'd like to see reviews of other marked decks, this one deck is really intricate and almost unnoticable!
Eventhough I don’t do magic, I thoroughly enjoy all your vids... great job...
My way of finding the card value is looking at the other side ... cool hint there ... works everytime
