In the David Copperfield show, David's FACE came through the screen on the other side of the Great Wall, so it was not just the assistants' hands. Also, was there even a tunnel which allows one to cross over to the other side of the Wall?!
Shadow puppetry has reached it's true form. What can you do with your acting major? When the lighting nerd met the acting nerd they became one body and walked through solid walls. Truly the theatre of dreams!
I mean, this is just a mock up to demonstrate how Copperfield’s trick was done. They literally focus a light on the double going into the platform so you can see how this is all staged. There’s no point in wasting dozens of additional man hours to practice and make something seamless that you’re literally revealing to everyone within the same breathe as to how it’s engineered lol it’s why the hands through the sheet aren’t convincing and why they gloss over certain specifics of the actual trick.
I guessed everything right except for the trap doors. you could just walk through the curtain in the back and run behind the stage then get into position again, they made it much more difficult than it needed to be
When David Copperfield did his supposed walk through the Great Wall, I suspected a different version of the trick. He had an truly excessive number of white-clad workers scrambling all over the steps and platform, in and out of the curtains as if checking myriad details. It would have been very easy for Copperfield to wear a tear-away costume with a worker's uniform underneath and a white cap in his pocket and slip out in the confusion after he "disappeared" and the mass of workers again swarmed the setup. When everything was reassembled on the other side of the wall, I think they did the same thing in reverse: Copperfield, in tear-off worker's togs, a cap (and maybe a wig or mustache), joined the throng of workers and, in all the exaggerated activity, never left the curtained platform. The disguise could easily have fit in a shallow compartment in the floor, and then the "exit" pantomime in front of the light began as shown is this video.
Nope. But I find that the big showy illusions are usually easier to figure out than most close-up illusions. When you're moving bodies or vehicles or other large items, there are only so many ways to do it.
Oh, definitely! I watched a person on TV stand inside a frame on a platform that was attached to a long, counterweighted lever. A curtain dropped as they were swung out over the first row of the audience, and then, a short time later, the curtain fell to reveal an empty platform. No. F'ing. Idea. I'm not expert by any stretch of the imagination, but the Secrets Revealed show was an education in the principles behind a lot of stage magic.
Zak Harrison One assistant has a mold of the face while the other assistant has a bar with molds of two outstretched hands attached and they just press it up against the fabric. This was very clever.
Zak Harrison David Copperfield used double, that's why he did it at night and no close up look. Search Christopher Hart. He was the one entering the Wall. David waited on the other side.
The real illusion is getting the stairs to the other side of the Wall. In the video, it goes very smoothly that it looks like the stairs have been on the other side prepared already.
For those asking how Copperfield got to the other side of the wall - the Great Wall is actually very low in some parts. When I visited it, I was surprised to find that some parts of it were only a meter high. The Great Wall was basically used as a lookout point on high hills. It's not impossible for Copperfield to jump over certain parts of the wall in the darkness if they were low enough... or the assistants could have wheeled him to a low point in the wall, or there was a a ladder somewhere in the darkness for him use. It was nighttime after all, and the camera was only focused on the trick.
The camera crane also goes over the wall. Could have wheeled him out with the stairs then hid him on the crane, or even just attached the stairs to the crane to be lowered and used on the other side. With everyone focused on the wall below, even if someone saw the stairs being hoisted over they likely wouldnt have thought much of it.
Okay, if Copperfeild was hidden in the steps how did they get the steps on the other side of the Great Wall? It’s so long how did they get it on the other side?
They could've easily done it without the double for the first part, he could've left from the side of the spotlight and simply walk behind the container.
The double is misdirection. The double pretending to be the magician and taking his sweet time going through the wall is giving the real magician time to get to the other side.
regarding how Copperfield got over the wall, it's likely that the trick took longer in real life than was shown on television, so he'd have more time to do it
The same way any 'transportation' trick is done. Twins. Or a realistic double if they're appearing far enough away from an audience like on top of a tall building.
Or possibly, there's tunnels under the wall, a way to move troops to defend the wail. In which case no double is needed, just time to move from one trap door/staircase to the other.
Still a really cool illusion like all the ones in this series... and the revealed tricks are even better and unbelievably simple! I wish both OG and clone magicians would've mouthed a childish "hi hi" when the camera would zoom in on their secret hideouts. ☻
when you think about it is really clever because most people including myself when watching it, would have thought that there was a door in to the container that he could have pushed and one that he could have pulled in from the other side. and it is probably the first thing people would think of
Here’s my guess. The wall may be hollow. Pictures were made of the spots where he goes through the wall. Then the pictures are affixed to some heavy material. Bricks are removed and these doors are fixed in place. Then all he has to do is enter or exit through the sides making sure none of the doors are ever noticed. Then when everyone leaves, the original bricks are cemented back in place so no one knows the difference.
It was literally the very first thing that came to mind when they started poking their hands through the fabric. That flash was so bright I nearly went blind!
@@Ishamv3 The team members might not care about recognition as long as they're getting paid. Plus, they get to travel around different places to assist the magician and that alone would be worth it to many of them.

Where's the mold and which hand was holding and controling it?
How did you determine that he was riding a crane going over the wall? Any evidence or proof on this?
Notice how in most videos at the end he crosses his arms like he's mad and his assistants like bear hug him sort of from the side??
David copperfield's passing through the great wall was definitely genuine..
Yep exactly as genuine as this video. He's a stage magician not Dr Strange.

How the hell the assistants bring the stair case on the otherside if it was done in the Great Wall of China
