If you are gonna feed money to the biggest monopoly on earth then go for the SE. the Ultra is a waste of money whatever anyone says. I still recommend to stay away from Apples.

Great comparison! I'm team SE - upgraded from an ancient 42mm Series 1 to a 44mm SE 2. Huge improvement, and I didn't feel like I needed the additional features of the Ultra for what I do, which is basically tell time and track my rings. If I'm doing something where I might damage it, I'll either just take it off or wear my old one.
I have an SE2 and the only thing I miss from the nicer models is the always on display. I think that was a big mistep on their part, but it’s still a very usable product
As a big fan of the Apple Watch and long time user of the 4,5 & 7 i recently switched to the ultra. And a huge selling point that’s often overlooked in my opinion is the difference in screen design. I have broken 3 watches, hence the changes, due to dropping them. With the ultra I don’t have that fear anymore as the screen protected by that tiny lip. So that alone was absolutely worth the switch. At least for me.
That’s what sold me on the ultra as well. I’ll be using it for a lot of bike trips and being up in the mountains. I know that’s kind of what it was targeted for but it works. So far love it
Definitely seems like a clumsy people problem. I never personally met a person who broke their apple watch (or any smart watch). So yeh I guess if your clumsy thats a thing, Might as well just be more carful and if cant just get a case, Will be cheaper.

Sorry for wanting to enjoy a hugely expensive product without having to add extra layers of security due to unpractical design. And yes, the regular Apple Watch has an unpractical screen design, as it’s veeeerry easy to scratch, never mind break. And I wear it from the moment I get up till the end of the day. Whether at work or going for a run or going for a swim. So yes, it’s a big difference and totally worth the upsell. You keep spending money on extras!
The battery difference between the SE and Ultra with both on cellular is HUGE. The Ultra still has plenty of juice at the end of the day, while the SE often needs a charge before the end of the day. It really depends on whether you can give your watch a charge during the day or not.
Lol, I use unlimited mobile data with eSim on SE while constant heart rate monitor is on with everything else, but my SE lasts 2 whole days and only then I need to charge it, but my battery health is still 100%, so I guess I’m good

I had an SE2 for 3 months. Really really good Apple Watch. The battery life was good. Now I have the Ultra. It is OUTSTANDING and I would never go back to the older Apple Watch design. Worth every Penny of the price to me. Best Apple product I have ever owned.👍

I was really having a tough time on which watch to get. Recently got the ultra, and I love it. The battery is amazing when the phone is near by and on cellular only I’m not than happy as it’s still a tiny watch so being able to go for a walk and use my AirPods to call without my phone… just so awesome
Agree with you there, I have or had should I say, both the Ultra and a series 8 non cellular, I have since sold the ultra as it was a little on the bigger/thicker side, plus did everything my series 8 does. I’m never usually without my phone either. My only draw back with this is when I receive a WhatsApp message, neither phone supports this so other than have a notification from it, you can’t reply. All in all, for most of us, I stick with the series ones over the ultra. Unless they reduced the price of course

I love multitasking on Apple Watch SE 2! The multi tasking is excellent in SE 2! If u really don’t care about ESG,temperature sensor and the slightly big screen then SE 2 is great! It has the same chipset as series 8 and Ultra, crash detection with requires high end Gyroscope,High end Accelerometer!

I bought a pre owned Ultra at Amazon. 450.00! My previous purchase was a used Apple W series 7 in stainless steel. Both looked fabulous when I received them and both are still going strong. wait for the refurbished. don’t pay full price that’s nuts!
I used to have an SE for a long time until I got the Ultra. I used the cellular SE because I run a lot and like to go without the phone. The SE dies pretty fast when it's cellular on its own, this is an unfair comp as the cellular features eat the battery on the SE the fastest. That said, the SE is damn good as you get almost all the same features for a fraction of the cost. I ended up going Ultra for the extra battery for sleep tracking, I was charging my SE multiple times per day to keep it topped off.
@@ShervinShares Have you tested with cellular on always vs off with the iPhone around? Is there a battery life penalty when keeping cellular on with iPhone close by vs off? I manually turn off cellular but maybe I don't need to. I should try the test. Good Video!
@@diystompbox i think the watch is smart enough not to use Cellular if iPhone is around. It shows when you swipe up if you're using Cellular or iPhone or WiFi as your main connection on the top
I'm a huge believer in "Check before you buy", and am lucky to live within 15 minutes of an Apple Store so, when I was looking to get my first Apple Watch last year, I went in and tried all the models, sizes and colours. I'd originally been drawn to a darker colour, but wasn't sure of size. I ended up getting a Nike Series 7 41 in Starlight - didn't need the 8's extra features, but wanted more than what the SE2 had to offer (the Ultra was just too big/expensive). Have to say, I absolutely love it. Thanks for the vid!
In Australia, there is at $850 difference between the 44 mm Apple Watch and the Apple Watch ultra, Apple Watch SE is great for people getting an Apple Watch for the first time
Folks, keep in mind that the SE 2 has a current gen processor (S8). Same processor in the series 8 and ultra. You will get many years of updates and usage if you don’t break it. Excellent watch if you don’t care for all the eye candy and mainly use it for the notifications.
Loved this video! Some of the features the ultra has you can also find in smaller form with series 8 and you have an option for stainless steel, but that will also come with a premium price tag too. I really enjoyed watching you put the least expensive and one of the most expensive apple watches to the test!
I got a non-celluar 1st gen SE and it does almost everything all Apple Watches do, my two complaints being 1. battery life and 2. the iPhone reliance. Apart from the fact that I didn't get the cellular version cause of the added monthly cost and battery drain concern I also don't like how much it relies on the iPhone, an issue which expands to third party apps too, e.g. you can't edit in One Note and you can't search music on Spotify. The ultra addresses some of my issues but its size and price are putting me off.
Look to upgrade to maybe a series 7 or 8 cellular? Just sold my ultra and sticking with my series 8 non cellular for many reasons. The ultra is a nice looking watch, but after the novelty wears off, you can practically do the same with a 7 or 8
I think for the durability side titanium against aluminum is a big diff for the buyers that work construction, or do outdoor sports, so ultra would be my choice..

I have been using the SE to take small waves when surfing. I wanted to get the ultra for waves that were over 2m high. Do you have any video for diving? I'm worried that the SE will break?

I can do that for you. I had both up until 2 days ago. I’ll tell you at the end of this reply which I sold. 😂 So, having the 44mm series 8 non cellular & the trial loop Ultra. Both did exactly what I wanted, battery life was never an issue on either as like most people still charge at night or top up in the morning if required. Very rare for me to go below 15/20%. Both had qwerty keyboard option, sometimes I’d type the wrong thing on both, but corrected with voice. I’m never without my phone due to the occasional WhatsApp message that neither supported so I was unable to read the message, you only have a notification, so still had to look at my phone for that. Fitness tracking wise, I found both as good, I’m not a serious competitor nor full on fitness fanatic so completely happy with both. Design & looks was the only plus side on the ultra over the 8, but this comes at a massive cost. Worth it? No. Sadly I sold my Ultra. It was a little bigger and thicker on my wrist, that over time I was adjusting it more than I do my 8 purely due to digging in my wrist a little more. Did I like the ultra? Absolutely. If it were around the £650 mark, maybe. Certainly isn’t worth the higher price in my opinion though.
thanks! i really like the way Ultra looks but I don't excercise extreme sports and it's really bulky. Would be harder to hide under hoodie sleeves. So hard to justify the price... also... I have HUGE wrists so I need the biggest watch out there. Probably good idea to track discounted watch 7 if I want to save on buying 8 right ?

Hi Shervin, was wondering if you need to set a schedule for your Watch Ultra - or can it track sleep automatically? Apple Health Support keeps insisting that: 1. A schedule needs to be set. 2. Sleep will not be tracked less than 4 hours of sleep. 3. No naps will be detected. 4. Other points forgotten right now - will add later... My Watch Ultra sometimes never shows the detailed REM/Deep/other graphic - but it is present on the iPhone... An earlier Watch Ultra I bought/returned never had these issues - and I think it detected sleep automatically! My Samsung S3 Frontier and S4 Watches don't need a phone to be connected and will detect/measure sleep automatically - including naps!
Got the smallest watch and wear it facing down with a chain link bracelet to make it look more like an accessory cause I still like wearing my fancy watch on the other hand

I have the ultra Apple Watch Ultra 2. And I really like it. The speakers are a little bit bigger. You can hear a little bit clearer. The screen is a little larger. And to be honest, I don’t even have my phone. I just have my watch. I personally like to watch and I’m glad I have too, not everybody can afford it. I understand that. But if you can you know, give the best that you can because there is a difference between an SE watch and an ultra watch obviously not to mention the materials that are in the watch and so are much better.anyway I like the just thought I would share

I have the original se but opted of the ultra 2. It was on sale but mainly opted for durability. I’m in construction and the durability of the se wasn’t great. Dings/nick’s in the aluminum body. Paint peeling on the body. Etc. still a great watch. But now the battery is getting worse and have to charge middle of the day now.
Very nice and thorough, but I had to jump and add to the Apple Pay situation from the beginning. Apple Pay doesn't need internet any more than your contactless card does...the connection comes from the terminal, so the outcome of that was clear head-on. Kinda surprised it was even considered criteria for the video. Also, both iPhone and Watch have their own Wallets, watch doesn't need iPhone's wallet.
The only reason I own Apple Watch now and that’s the cheap SE model is for convenience unlocking my MacBook Pro. My goto smartwatch has always been Garmin Fenix. My current Fenix 5 I used since 2018 still serve me very well for all my outdoor activities and the best part is the Fenix 5 last me for 15 days straight without a single charge. That’s super freaking long battery especially I never once replace the battery since I bought it in 2018. I just wait for this Fenix 5 is completely unusable before I replace it with Fenix 8 or 9 or even 10. It just this Fenix 5 built like a tank, water resistant, and still going strong. For payment, I don’t use Apple Watch SE. The iPhone still serve me well on this payment department.
I have an Apple Watch SE(2) a few months ago. I still liked it. When I got it the watch band is for small and medium wrists for the band. I rather have it for medium or large since my wrist is big bone under the skin.

Just sold my ultra and sticking with my series 8 non cellular for many reasons. The ultra is a nice looking watch, but after the novelty wears off, you can practically do the same with a 7 or 8

I think for the durability side titanium against aluminum is a big diff for the buyers that work construction, or do outdoor sports, so ultra would be my choice..

Thanks for the video helped me with my choice to buy the Ultra. I want to track my heat rate better, so maybe just buy the strap you were using during the run. I have been using the SE to take small waves when surfing. I wanted to get the ultra for waves that were over 2m high. Do you have any video for diving? I'm worried that the SE will break?
How is it having two watches in the same account? Did your Fitness app freak out by the workout being logged twice? I've wondered about having two, because I'd like an Ultra for trail running and I love my regular Apple Watch for daily use.
I bought a apple watch ultra a few months ago and I have to admit that it is the best thing that Apple has released (in my opinion).

So, having the 44mm series 8 non cellular & the trial loop Ultra.
Both did exactly what I wanted, battery life was never an issue on either as like most people still charge at night or top up in the morning if required. Very rare for me to go below 15/20%.
Both had qwerty keyboard option, sometimes I’d type the wrong thing on both, but corrected with voice.
I’m never without my phone due to the occasional WhatsApp message that neither supported so I was unable to read the message, you only have a notification, so still had to look at my phone for that.
Fitness tracking wise, I found both as good, I’m not a serious competitor nor full on fitness fanatic so completely happy with both.
Design & looks was the only plus side on the ultra over the 8, but this comes at a massive cost. Worth it? No.
Sadly I sold my Ultra.
It was a little bigger and thicker on my wrist, that over time I was adjusting it more than I do my 8 purely due to digging in my wrist a little more.
Did I like the ultra? Absolutely. If it were around the £650 mark, maybe. Certainly isn’t worth the higher price in my opinion though.

thanks! i really like the way Ultra looks but I don't excercise extreme sports and it's really bulky. Would be harder to hide under hoodie sleeves.

Battery is the biggest thing. I have used both. Ultra reduces battery anxiety, but they charge a hefty premium for it.

Hi Shervin, was wondering if you need to set a schedule for your Watch Ultra - or can it track sleep automatically? Apple Health Support keeps insisting that:
1. A schedule needs to be set.
2. Sleep will not be tracked less than 4 hours of sleep.
3. No naps will be detected.
4. Other points forgotten right now - will add later...
My Watch Ultra sometimes never shows the detailed REM/Deep/other graphic - but it is present on the iPhone...
An earlier Watch Ultra I bought/returned never had these issues - and I think it detected sleep automatically!
My Samsung S3 Frontier and S4 Watches don't need a phone to be connected and will detect/measure sleep automatically - including naps!

Got the smallest watch and wear it facing down with a chain link bracelet to make it look more like an accessory cause I still like wearing my fancy watch on the other hand

I have the ultra Apple Watch Ultra 2. And I really like it. The speakers are a little bit bigger. You can hear a little bit clearer. The screen is a little larger. And to be honest, I don’t even have my phone. I just have my watch. I personally like to watch and I’m glad I have too, not everybody can afford it. I understand that. But if you can you know, give the best that you can because there is a difference between an SE watch and an ultra watch obviously not to mention the materials that are in the watch and so are much better.anyway I like the just thought I would share

SE is definitely a cheaper purchase but if you compare the stainless series 8 and the ultra, you might as well get the ultra.

I have the original se but opted of the ultra 2. It was on sale but mainly opted for durability. I’m in construction and the durability of the se wasn’t great. Dings/nick’s in the aluminum body. Paint peeling on the body. Etc. still a great watch. But now the battery is getting worse and have to charge middle of the day now.

Very nice and thorough, but I had to jump and add to the Apple Pay situation from the beginning. Apple Pay doesn't need internet any more than your contactless card does...the connection comes from the terminal, so the outcome of that was clear head-on. Kinda surprised it was even considered criteria for the video. Also, both iPhone and Watch have their own Wallets, watch doesn't need iPhone's wallet.
So I can use apple Pay when I’m not with my iPhone? Even tho don’t have cellular ?

The only reason I own Apple Watch now and that’s the cheap SE model is for convenience unlocking my MacBook Pro. My goto smartwatch has always been Garmin Fenix. My current Fenix 5 I used since 2018 still serve me very well for all my outdoor activities and the best part is the Fenix 5 last me for 15 days straight without a single charge. That’s super freaking long battery especially I never once replace the battery since I bought it in 2018.
I just wait for this Fenix 5 is completely unusable before I replace it with Fenix 8 or 9 or even 10. It just this Fenix 5 built like a tank, water resistant, and still going strong.
For payment, I don’t use Apple Watch SE. The iPhone still serve me well on this payment department.
I have an Apple Watch SE(2) a few months ago. I still liked it. When I got it the watch band is for small and medium wrists for the band. I rather have it for medium or large since my wrist is big bone under the skin.
