You are an excellent tutor in that you thoroughly explain and illustrate the why of a grammatical rule. I especially appreciate that you take the time to pronounce every Italian word or phrase slowly enough for us to understand the nuance and inflection of all those vowels.
I'm really glad you appreciate my stile of teaching. My goal is to really demystify grammar by showing students there is a why and a logic behind it, so I'm really happy that you noticed that. And vowels are my fixation, as my students know well! 😂 Joking aside, vowels do make a huge difference in Italian, so that's why I focus on them so much.
This is one of the best sessions I have seen. She explains the use of stare and essere better than I have ever heard. I would very much like to learn this difference in more depth so please make more sessions about this. Grazie mille
Valentina, thank you so much for your explanation on this verb usage. I had just asked you a question about this in another of your videos and this answers the question. Grazie!!
So helpful! Thank you. Love how you teach and appreciate the examples in sentences. I would love to see a video of when to use (a or in) i.e. sono andata (a/in) cinema, vacanza, casa, etc before a word. Help! I get very confused.
This is very similar to the explanation used by Olga Ragusa in "Essential Italian Grammar". It's probably the best way to describe the difference for beginners and get them going. Thanks, Valentina. I really appreciate that you also highlight what students ought *never* do so strongly.
Gentile signora Valentina, grazie mille per questa lezione! Knowing when to use "Stare" vs. "Essere" and visa versa, is a real problem for me, so this was very helpful. Could you please do more on this topic, as well as the topics of "Pronomi Indiretti and "Riflessivi"? Two other problem areas for me as well. Grazie mille ancora e abbi curi di te.
Grazie mille gentile signora Valentina. I had previously tried doing a search on your channel for a video on the subject(s), but I didn't find anything. Your video on this topic will undoubtedly be very helpful. Grazie mille ancora e abbi curi de te!
we use stare in three cases 1. When talking about health in general. 2. When talking about staying in a place or remaining there for a while 3. when taking about something that is happening right now. we use it in present progressive sentence
I'm glad it was helpful, Gregory! I always try to explain the why and the logic behind Italian grammar, I do believe that makes it easier to understand and use.
Valentina can you do a video on how to form the present progressive verb form?. I am reading your short stories on Jack & Mary and love them. I am finding some of the verb forms challenging as only really familiar with present tense so far. Any video on verb participles and formation very welcome. Grazie mille di Nora
I think I understand (most) of what you are trying to point out here about when (not) to use 'Essere' and to use 'Stare'... because 'Essere' is only to be used when a topic of conversation is about something that has always been & still is.. so would I be correct in my interpretation here? I would like to see examples of the actual word 'Essere' too, as well as the relative words like 'Soon' that you have already talked about in sentences!
Are there rules in making italian sentences? Like noun first before adjectives or pronouns before noun. I would like to learn sentence formation in italian. Grazie mille per aiutare.
I just can’t understand why in the sentence: 1. “Noi non l’abbiamo fermata” is -a- in fermata. Isn’t it supposed to be unchangeable? 2. “Da chi è scritto.?” Why is the use of essence and not averse in the past tense? Verb -scendere- can be both? How do I know which one to use? I watched a lot of videos about passato prossimo I think I understand the rules with motion verbs and reflexive verbs to use -Essere- , most of the time it is Avere. What am I missing? Verb -vivere can be used with both - avere and essere in passato prossimo?

I get to help you!!!! When you say “flash cards” you are pronouncing the A like and short E in the English language . So the word you are actually saying sounds like “flesh cards” that translates to “skin cards”. When you say the word “flash”, the A will be pronounced like the first letter and sound in the word “apple”. ❤❤ 🍏🍎
Ahah grazie mille! As I always say to my students, English pronunciation is a nightmare for us native Italians, because it's so different from our phonetic system. I will keep the "apple" trick in mind!
@@ItalianTeacherValentina If I could ever speak Italian as well as you speak English, I would be very happy. Keep up the good work; thousands of us out here in TH-cam Land appreciate all you do.

Best explanation of when to use essere vs stare! Thank you so much!
I'm glad it was helpful, Gay!
An easy to understand explanation, Grazie! In Spanish, the choice of ser vs estar is more complicated
My thoughts exactly. I think in with this verb Italian is easier.
