Good Morning. I just got a 2010 VW Passat 1.6TDi. It came with one of those nasty Yellow lights on dash Engine light on. Changed all Glow Plugs then Coil light started flashing then limp mode. After Dynostics EGR Failure. Replaced and lights went off. Then coil flashing limp mode. Checked wiring fuses all good. Turn car off and on all good for 5 minutes then limp again driving between 1400 and 2000rpm. While fldriving quick key off on and all good. Drive at 2500 to 3000rpm and no limp mode for as far as I want to go till I drive under 2000rpm then Glow coil flashing and limp mode
Thank you for the detailed and helful information. Like most of the other viewers, I also have this problem, with my VW Touareg TDI. This is basically the same issue, and the explanation makes a lot of sense.
Exactly whats happening to My 1.6tdi Polo 34,000 From 2012 1 owner b4 me and It;s stuck in Limp, 1st the DPF light came on so filled up with fuel and RAN it up/down motorway and it cleared the Light, Then Both the DPF/Glow Plug lights came on and LIMP MODE, So bn watching a few of these vids Because changing the EGR is a right Pain on these Polos. Thanks For sharing, If you were in South Wales you;d have a customer.
I have set alhambra normally drive locally i have changed o2 sensor but some time car in the morning taking long self and when driving loss power then glow plug light comes on and flashing. Tell what to do plz?
great video, i have only the limp mode problem while driving, changed turbo, changed acuator, same problem. P 0299900 error getting back , any ideeas? :) Thank you.
what if i add DPF cleaner in fuel tank when the glow plug light is blinking along with the DPF warning, and if I go on motor way will it get fix by driving or do I have to go to a garage to get the code ?removed, I just drove for 30 mins without any DPF cleaner but the car is still in limp mode
@@draganku I went to local garage guy to remove the warning with a OBD2 machine and once the working codes are reset, I used the DFF cleaner with direct into the DPF near engine and sprayed it and drove on low gear until the blinking lights went off and also the DFP light went out

I have an audi a3 and when i accelerate usually the car enters in limp mode at about 120 kph and it annoys me cause you can feel the car just losing power once the flashing light comes on
My glow plug light com on..I already scan it and the electricion says it's the DPF tragering the glow plug light cause none of the glow plug not damage and it's losing powerThe code that read on the scanner is p2459
Do you use the bluetooth obd reader with the autel or use the wire setup ? Going thru this exact issue right now with my 2012 golf. The scanner shows the the dpf filter is still good was able to get it out of limp mode but the glow light starts flashing again after a short drive

Hello I am a truck mechanic engine light is on on my volkswagen i have changed the dpf and i deleted the wrong codes plus i did twice regeneration with computer for 80 min but it is on pedestrian it's like that during the test drive the light disappears but it lights up again after 15 min I'm tired of this
Hi bro, since it passed 6 months of this coment i figured it out that you have fixed it.Same problem here so if you see this i would appreciate the answer :D
No need to replace any sensors. Once dpf light come's on you will have to run the car at 2500rpm for around 10/20 minutes continuously. This will turn the light off. If ignored the the limp mode is then activated. Once in limp mode you will need to reset the codes via computer and run the car at 2500rpm as explained above to turn off the dpf light. This has been tried and tested on my vw many times but is only a temporary fix as it depends on what sort of mileage you do. Mine used to come on every 3 day's. The one and only solution to this is to get the dpf removed and remap (costs around £300). No more dpf lights and burning unnecessary fuel. Hope this helps someone.
Hi guys. My Golf 1.6tdi is doing the same thing or should I say is showing the same errors/lights as the car in the video. @simukelethommy4903 yes brother, i tried multiple products to put in with diesel to clean the engine, [dpf cleaner liquid] but that helped just for few days, finally i went to garage and disabled egr valve and dpf via computer, 6 months later I'm still happy with results
Fantastic. Didn’t know the DPF wouldn’t regen when in limp mode. That saved a lot of wasted miles. Thankyou.

excellent explanation of diagnosing limp mode. Never heard of it til yesterday. Obviously a powerful program is needed for accurate assessment
