Not sure what's more intimidating: a prime Mike Tyson walking to the ring looking like a coiled spring, or a prime (and he wasn't quite 'prime' here yet) Lennox Lewis walking to the ring looking utterly placid, like he's going for a steam. Thanks for the uploads.
lets not forget giving respect to bruno who was built like a tree bruno was a real deal heavyweight boxer and he was good measure and test to see how powerful tyson or lewis was, thats why bruno was never my favourite but i respected him for that
lewis was a new generation type of fighter not just for bruno but for the whole heavyweight division.... bruno was built like a tree and stood toe to toe with lewis lewis was younger and had more speed and you can see this it took lewis and tyson to put bruno away and thats how great bruno was bruno was a great well built champ and im from the 80s so love it golden era of boxing not today where the boxers are way too tall

I think this was Bruno’s best performance bar none, McCall was awful against him - Lewis and Tyson were all time greats. Tyson would beat Bruno all day long but he gave Lewis real problems but then Lewis came back like a champion with that superb left hook. Why Bruno never learnt to grab when hurt I dont know? Always gutsy, always in shape he did well in his career but benefitted massively from being British and the money and fan base behind him. Could have done better but for some atrocious match making from Lawless….
Yep Frank was pumped up for this one. He got caught and that was it, that's heavyweight boxing for you it's sudden death with the power from these big lads. But I think that this was Frank's last real hurrah at the top end of the heavyweight division and deep down he knew it. I think he and his people hoped that they were catching Lewis whilst he was a bit green in the division.
The ending is kind of funny. Frank just stands in the ropes and takes is. The ref initiates a short intermission and gives Lewis a warning. Then Frank continues to take the same shots

I'm a Cardiff born/raised boy. I remember me and my friends, Raymond, Lee, Gundy, Anthony trying to figure out ways to sneak into the old Cardiff Arms Park aged 16. We gave up and watched it in Raymond's mothers. 😂 But nobody at the time could have predicted in the following 18 months, Lewis would lose the WBC belt to Oliver McCall, who would then have one successful defence then lose to McCall lost the title to Bruno. Despite a good performance for 6 rounds, the manner of Bruno's loss to Lewis looked career ending. As did Lewis's loss to McCall. . You have to give great credit to both Bruno and Lewis as Frank refused to listen to advice to retire and wouldn't quit until be lifted that belt. I don't think successful defences mattered to him. He achieved his dream to become Champion. As for Lewis, he came back many years later to unify the belts and leave a legacy of one of a GOAT. Success measured for Lewis and Bruno not equally triamphant when taking into account the ability of Lewis, and limitations of Bruno, however both should be respected equally for making the most of what they had.
Bruno is a super dirty fighter, rabbit punches often, and was holding Lewis ‘ head down to repeat uppercuts him, glad Lewis countered with that hard left hook that resulted in the beginning of the end of this fight.
47:46 I mean. A little unsure why an all english fight has the welsh national anthem being sung here but DAMN he has a voice!!! The welsh can SING!!! Literally. The entire welsh population are SINGERS!

I was there! Great fight. Never understood why Bruno didn't take a knee and an 8 count to clear his head. Might have made it through the round. As well fighting 2 of goats at hw Bruno also had to fight Witherspoon who was a very very tough underrated fighter imo. Witherspoon Tyson would have been interesting.
I heard of him, watched him then quickly forgot him. Strange for an all time great that no one rates him. Just didn't have the excitement generation of a Benn or Eubank.
Actually Lennox did something very wrong. He pushed his glove on Brunos face and used that position to hit him. It's virtually holding and hitting. That's not right.
cry me a river lol Bruno was rabbit punching the whole fight and that is illegal cuz it leads to brain damage Lennox was not holding and hitting he was measuring which is a minor infraction
Bruno started all the dirty tactics in this fight, and as in his past fights, likes to rabbit punch, he was holding Lennox’s head down and uppercutting him, before Lennox countered with that beautiful left hook, and Lennox is not holding Bruno’s head and hitting, just using it as measuring stick. Larry Holmes like to do that too.

By the way, Bruno has the heart of a lion! He took some massive shots there and stayed on his feet, the guy went out on his shield.

Bruno lost to the greatest heavyweight of all time no shame in that .
He only lost to champions no shame at all but unlike Tony Bellew he won his world title from a champion.

The young lad from just down the road in New bridge, 'Joseph Calzaghe', fighting in front of no one...did anything come of him?
