    Cool to watch that cappillary action filling the brush nibs! Thanks for the tutorial!

    Can u use any other type of brush nibs for these markers cause in my country I only have these touch brand markers and I got the spectrum noir markers from Sweden as a present from my father but I forgot to buy the brush nibs at the store

    I have the "old" spectrums, will these brush nibs go in them too? I'm sorry if you answered that question in video, I tried to watch it all, but I have hundreds of videos I'm going through so I might have missed it! I'm a new subbie, I love the tips!! Thanks for sharing! xoxo Jen

      No, unfortunately the nibs do not work with the old design of markers. They only work with the Next Generation Spectrum Noirs. The Next Generation also have lots of other great new features that you can check out on the Spectrum Noir website. I know it's not something everyone can do, but for some, it might be worth it to sell their old SNs and purchase the new ones. The comfort grip on each end is another awesome new feature.

      christygetscrafty well shucks! I just got mine. I've barely started using them! lol I guess I'll just get used to using the chisel nib! Thanks for the response, so nice of you! xoxo Jen

    Great video! I didnt even know these were available! I hope they are here in Ireland lol will defiantly have to check out the website....I much prefer brush nibs, I think the chisel nib is very awkward. Thanks for the tip :)

    You used to use spectrum too?! Cool! :D Do you still have any notes on your fav. combos etc with them? And do you know if there are any hexagon-charts like the Copic one for combos? I havent found any :/ and I didnt find any spesific blog-post from you on Spectrum combos and tips either. It is understandable if you dont have any notes of this any more :)

      I don’t, unfortunately. It’s been so long, I’ve forgotten everything. Plus the markers changed a lot after I stopped using them. They came out with lots more colors and I think they may have even redesigned the markers themselves. You should check out Marine Simon’s channel though! She uses Spectrum Noirs.

      @@christygetscrafty I LOVE Marine Simon! Have been following her for a long time now :) But it is always fun to see what other people use. Yes the markers have changed over the years and came out with a new design this year I believe, so I stacked up when I found them on sale!

    It really ticks me off that they could not come out with brush nips for the old type. Since I have hundreds of dollars wrapped up in these markers.

      I think they should make fancier more expensive pens and call them spectrum brush or something like that

    Do you have to get the new generation of spectrum noir markers or can you just use regular Spectrum Noir markers?

  • @grannysharp772

    Do you know if nibs are universal or different size width according to brand?

    • @christygetscrafty
      @christygetscrafty  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know, but I think they probably vary slightly.

    when you swap the nibs, do you find that it eats up a whole lot of ink? I've JUST started using these and I'm building my collection so I would love these brush tps, but i dont want to waste ink on it since i could technically live w out the new nibs.

    • @christygetscrafty
      @christygetscrafty  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I don't find that at all. I think it's all about how thick you lay down the color, or how long you work an area, but I don't find that it bleeds out at all.

    The brush nibs only work with the next gen SN markers? I have a lot of the other ones. Neat idea though. TFS.

    • @christygetscrafty
      @christygetscrafty  11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, unfortunately the new brush nibs only work with the redesigned Spectrum Noirs.

    A small recommendation is that you can pull some of the ink out of the chizel nib you're replacing by touching them to the new nib while it's still white.

    LOL ... I was hollering at the screen of a 5YO video "Don't toss those nibs!". Wanted you to save them so you could make alcohol ink misters or dropper bottles as is done with Sharpie nibs. Too funny. Thanks for the how-to. :)

    • @christygetscrafty
      @christygetscrafty  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheryl Hobensack I’ve never even heard of that! How neat! Too late though. This video is super old and I don’t even own those markers anymore. 😉

      @chobensa 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, you don't?!?!! I just got mine on a hot sale and am super excited to use them. Have been researching the how-tos. I'm a casual crafter, not an artist, so they'll suit me just fine. Google DIY alcohol inks and you'll see what I mean about nibs. I love doing tiles. Thanks again!

    • @christygetscrafty
      @christygetscrafty  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They’re great, no worries! I did use them for two years. But I had Copics before I joined the Crafter’s Companion DT, and I ended up going back to them because of the color selection. Although SNs have come out with more colors since then too. I do have a Spectrum Noir playlist on my channel if you would find it helpful. I’ll check out those videos your talking about. Thanks! I love to learn new things. 😄

    Intro showcases craft, good just a little long for an intro skip to 0:32 for beginning of video

    Are they worth it? I'm just buying my collection (almost there now) and thinking why not but it's a fair amount of extra money to "upgrade" all to brush tips being around £5 for 3 (£280! That's more than the whole set will have cost me!!)

    Has anyone else noticed the Brush nibs on the spectrum noir Illustrator markers fray real easy at the point and are not very strong? I have 48 brush tip markers by a different brand and they keep their shape very well and have a finer point to them

    • @christygetscrafty
      @christygetscrafty  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never used the illustrator markers so I’m not familiar with them. When I used Spectrum Noir, those hadn’t come out yet.

    I know this video is old but I am new and have 5 of the 6 packs of spectrum noir illustrator markers and wanting to buy the 12 6 packs of spectrum noir but see that the colors might be the same ,is this true

    • @christygetscrafty
      @christygetscrafty  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Hummingbird Haven ministries I'm not sure. I switched back to using Copics a few years ago, before the Illustrator markers came out. I'm not sure what makes them different from the originals. But if you go to the Spectrum Noir website I am sure they will have that info available. Hope that helps!

    what nib would you remove to refill the pen?

    • @christygetscrafty
      @christygetscrafty  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Fanimal Central ~ HD I would probably try to get ahold of the bullet nib and remove that one if you can. Maybe grab it with some tweezers? I tried it on the brush nib myself and they ended up falling apart so I had to replace them with new nibs. It can be a little more difficult to refill them once the chisel tip is removed. That's one of the reasons I switched back to Copics a few years ago. In the end, if I could only have one, I preferred the brush nib over the bullet. But it's all personal preference.

      I remove the smaller nib instead of the brush nib to fill my Spectrum Noir Next Generation Markers. I was never able to remove the brush nib without it tearing apart. Just be careful not to overfill the markers.

    Spent ton of money to get all the pens and now they create new tips for new pens which are even bigger than the old. I am just slowing investing in copics to mix with my noirs. I am not reinvesting in new pens with spectrum as that is just wrong.

  • @halfabee
    @halfabee 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Replacing the nib doubles the cost of the marker.
