Thanks for another great review Harry!!! I honestly hadn't heard of the spectrum noir products before you started your reviews and I have bought a few of their products and been very happy with them. My Illustrator markers are some of my favourite ones, and these look just as good!!!
Thanks for demonstrating how to blend with these markers. I'm not very confident with alcohol markers. I'd like to give these Spectrum Noir a try since I haven't had the courage to try to blend with alcohol markers.
I'm a beginner with markers and my first set is a spectrum noir since they had a sale on thos at my local art/hobby supplies store. I have been experimenting with blending and different techniques to see what I think works. I've never seen any tri blend markers and I must say that I think it is a good idea for beginners like me.
I think the Tri-Blend Brush markers will be an excellent idea just to help guide you along the fundamentals of blending, helping you understand the various colour families. It won’t take very long for you to gain confidence in your own ability and you will be able to blend any marker. Thank you so much for your comment and if you need any further help or advice please don’t hesitate to ask and I will always try my very best to help. Thank you so much
Thank you so much Debbie, when I first started this review channel I only supplied a written review and video review, but back then I just didn’t have the artistic ability to demonstrate every medium I was reviewing. But I also seen a comment on a video, not one of my videos, but a different channel, were the person said they didn’t like the reviews that only show swatches of the medium they are reviewing and at the time my videos fell into that category. So I thought I’d try it and see how things panned out and it has been probably one of the best pieces of advice I have taken on board. I still struggle with certain mediums like Watercolor and Pastel but I hope to improve on these over time. It obviously means that each review I do takes about a week or so to complete, by the time I do my own testing, research, write my notes, write the review, create and edit the video review, create the artwork and then edit the speed video and then add a page to The Art Gear Guide with still images taken throughout the drawing process. This is the only reason I can’t get more reviews done in a week and I always feel bad for you guys that i am only getting 3 or 4 reviews done a month. But I am still learning and hopefully will come up with a quicker more efficient system. Thank you so much for your lovely comment and support
I love the concept of the triblend but I wish they used the same color blends as the bullet tip because some of the jumps are pretty far apart. I think it's a nice concept but some color pics were off. Good review as always! Edited to add. I have 23 of the new colors so some of the oddballs might be ones you dont have in your sets:) Ps: please don't include me in the giveaway as I have these:)
Hi Lindsey, I seen your review pop up but as always I didn’t want to watch it before I completed my own review, I always avoid watching reviews on a product if I haven’t reviewed it because I don’t want other ideas to subconsciously affect a review I might do on them later down the line. I really wish I had of reviewed the full range because like you say, I would have been able to give a more accurate account on all of the blends. As it was, I only had the three sets and I think there was two or three blends were the jump between light to mid or Mid to Dark was too big to work with. I do like how they have added the exact tones on the boranes like PP1 Light, PP4 Mid and PP6 Dark; this allows artists who already have the other Spectrum Noir ranges to drop in other tones such as PP2, PP5 and PP7 to create that perfect blend. I think the pattern that I have noticed and it’s a weak pattern at that given I’ve only tested three sets, but I think on the lights they maybe go a wee bit too light. With the Pale Pink example I showed, there is two shade between the light PP1 and the Mid PP4 but only one between the Mid PP4 and Dark PP6. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me Lindsay, I love chatting to you about art supplies and exchanging findings etc I learn so much from you.
These look like really great markers. I love the concept of the tri-blend and they looked like they were incredibly smooth and juicy. Thanks again for all the great content you provide, man.
Cool pens! I have some single colour Spectrum Noirs and I can see these working alongside the ones I already have, especially if the colour jumps are not so big.
Yeah you are absolutely correct, if you have any spectrum noir pens, they will fit in perfectly with these and as you say, make the blends even tighter.
Being quite new to markers and the hella cost of some brands, this is a great way to expand your colours affordable. The tri blend could take you to the next stage of colouring effortlessly. Great video thank you x
Hi Miranda, the pale pink blend are excellent for skin tones, they offer all the shades needed to give the face that 3D look. The Tan blend offers nice skin tones for darker skin, really nice blend on that marker as well.
Thank you so much Carrie and I am so glad that you found the channel but more importantly that you get a few benefits from watching the videos. Thank you so very much and I hope you continue to enjoy the reviews. Thank you so much.
Thank you for the great review :) I am a beginner and thought the brush tips look great so am looking to buy these over the original tri-blend ones. I am hoping the tri-blend will help me learn the blending technique as they have picked the colours for me ;)
Thank you for sharing. Love your reviews and I've learned so much. The brush and ink quality of the new illustrator are fantastic but I struggle with barrel as I have small hands but just need to practice and get accustomed. Sooooo tempted to get these..Really good quality product! 😍
Hi Kassa, when I first seen the barrels, way back when they introduced the illustrator, before I actually got to use them, I thought the barrel shape and size might be a problem, but when I used them I found them fine. But this is why I need wonderful people such as yourself to let me know your experience. Selfishly I just thought, I like them so that’s okay, I should have got my wife and daughters to use them for a bit as they have really petite hands and then I could have added that to my review, the possibility of people with smaller hands finding them uncomfortable. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and this helps me to make sure I am not just selfishly thinking of myself when I am doing these reviews. Hope you and your family are keeping safe and well. Thank you so much for your continued support.
@@TheArtGearGuide always a pleasure and not at all selfish, we've learned so much by watching your videos!.. and I still use them as the brush is fab. Thank you for sharing and look forward to your next review. 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much Karen, I really enjoyed using them, I wish I was able to test and demonstrate the full range as I could talk a bit more accurately regarding all of the blending combinations, but of the sets I had, I think only two or three of the blends took a bit of work the rest were seamless.
Thant is an excellent idea, you take four pens with you and you have 12 individual colours and for anyone on the move that is excellent. Never even thought about them in a travel capacity. Thank you so much for your ideas
Hi Dee, you are right they do blend nicely, just some of the take a wee bit of extra care and attention, that’s all. But they are really nice markers overall. Thank you so much for the comment really appreciate it thank you so much
Sounds like a nice concept; not only does it help with blending, but 72 colours in 24 pens is a nice space saver. Only thing that bothers me about Spectrum Noir is the shape. They are very chunky and combined with hexagonal design, look rather awkward and uncomfortable to hold.
Their new Illustrator markers are like chalk and cheese, you can see the huge difference in the image I added to this video. Also if you do happen to have any of your old Illustrator you can buy replacement nibs and all replacement nibs for Spectrum Noir are the new version. Thank you so much for your comment and I hope you are well.
I love them, one or two have big jumps between lights to mid or mid to dark, but for the most part they blend really well on the right paper. Thank you so much for your lovely comment
Nice review I wished they would have done a better job of putting blending colors better I've heard another well know reviewer said the same thing. I do love there products! Thanks
I've tried alcohol markers only once with the cheap brand from Aliexpress, and I didn't like them, cos they bleed throw the paper. I prefer to use water-based markers like Faber-castell pitt pens or Ecoline. But these Triblend look very interesting to try.
Thank you so much Pat really appreciate the kind and compassionate comment. Thank you so much for your support and I hope you to are keeping safe and well
Thank you so much Margarita, I have really enjoyed using them and think for anyone who likes using markers will love them but they are also perfect for new artists trying out markers
