Thanks man, I appreciate the input. What was the main driving point to keeping the GWG above the GG-B100? Really interested to know as the GG is new to me.
The ggb100 doestn't need radio auto time setting because the phone connection is corrected for you. Changing the battery every two years is simple. With the back track function, the GGB100 is the best G-Shock today.
Thank you for this comparison, it helped be decide on obtaining the gg b100. As a side note one of the major difference between Mudmaster 1000 and the newer Mudmaster 100 is the battery difference. The Mudmaster 1000 runs two 395 silver oxide batteries in series @ 3 volts and 110mAh total, while the Mudmaster 100 runs a lithium 2025 @ 3 volts and 160mAh. As a side topic, it is best NOT to store g-shock solar watches in total darkness. A depleted silver oxide battery, still in the watch, may have its own problems.
Glad you found the video useful my friend. Thanks a lot for the comment. And your knowledge on the batteries is excellent thanks for sharing that info!
Tough solar had always been one of my favorite functions although ironically some of my favorite models are battery powered, magnet the GA-2100 /GA-2110. But I would absolutely love it if they brought out a solar version...
Solar charging only works well in sunny places. My G W-B5600 is mostly empty because it doesnt charge correctly under a cloth. So during winter etc you can forget it. Cheers.
@@Wastelander13 I don’t have that experience with my Mudmaster it’s always on high charge but I wear it all the time unless I’m in work clothes. I think it’s solar panels are ample given the analog face space they had to work with. I ski a lot and live in the mountains so I am not always in blue sky
@@justinhawks4458 Thank you for your reply. Maybe they improved the solar charger on the Mudmaster compared to the B5600 also. After my disappointment with the Casio I wear a Seiko automatic now... Cheers.
@@Wastelander13 nice yeah I like to mix it up but like field watches at work sometimes. Check out Vaer they are doing some cool stuff in the affordable range I’ve been into them recently and bought a field and dive watch from them!
Note, if you're an active soldier or officer the GWG1K is the only option due to the battlefield surveillance threath. A watch connected with Bluetooth to an online cellular will put your whole unit at risk and is therefore prohibited.
I own a gwg 1000. Since 2 years and I think is still one of the best watch I ever owned. I think is still the best after this new release because it's solar powered, and does not need to rely on a phone to be precise. It is completely autonomous. That's why it cost almost the double. I'm not interested in step counter. I simply need something that does not need a battery change (at least for 5 or more years I guess) and something extremely precise by it's own. I need something robust but also a sapphire glass because the glass is the weaker point of a g-shock (or any watch in general). I don't know if the production is going to be stopped, but I just bought 2 shroud and 2 spare straps in order to keep it for the future. Prices are going up lately. I think is time to buy one prior to reach crazy price levels...
Thanks so much for the message Massimo. I agree the GWG-1000 is a special piece. I think you will have zero maintenance for at least 10 years. It's great. And I also think it is a very different watch to the GG-B100, I'm not sure why they gave the same name Mudmaster. Good plan to get extra straps and bezel, they go up in price :) Cheers!
GWG 1000 yeah, is the be(a)st. Happened to tried my own in extreme conditions in Afghanistan desert for max and lowest temperatures +52 celsius (also +57 in other continents) and -46(in the northen Russia), tried it in Iraq desert and in the west and center African jungles, even dived for hours in the sea with it. Barometric pressure, altimeter when flying or on mountain heights and thermometer worked and still work fine. The GWG 1000 model is awesome and the only bad thing for me is its timer which its maximum count is only for 60 minutes maximum.
I got my GWG-1000 for a little over £200 on eBay, I'm now seriously considering getting the other mudmaster too, did NOT realise how functional it was until I saw this. Thanks.
Excellent result! What colour? It's a serious tool watch no doubt. You should have a look at the Rangeman and Mudman also. So practical and a bit lighter. Cheers!
Thank you for the comparison and fair assessment of what each have, and WHY they do/ do not have some features. I am looking to buy the new RAF special edition GravityMaster GR-B200RAF, which has an identical set of features to the new mudmaster you have shown here, including the lack of tough solar, and you've made me rest assured that it is forgone for a reason. Your comments about the navigation features, and the time zone adjustment when travelling, as well as the carbon cores, light weight, and comfort of wearing such a large timepiece has sold me on a fairly expensive G-shock. I know that, given my lifestyle, I will use these features.
Glad you found my perspectives helpful. I've seen the new RAF GravityMaster, looks superb. Not sure if you have other models already but I always say to people who don't own a G-Shock yet to also take a look at the Rangeman, it's such a quality and functional piece at a very fair price. Really keen to hear how you enjoy the RAF collab of you get it. Cheers for the comment!
I bought a GG-1000 two years ago. Still running with the original battery. I like the GG-1000's face better than the GG-B100 and is smaller, lighter and less expensive than the GWG-1000. I was waiting for a tough solar version of the GG-B100 but since it never came, I switched from a Mudmaster to a G-Steel last year (GST-B200): Carbon Core; Self-charging (tough solar); self-adjusting (Blue Tooth). Very happy with it.
Thanks for the insight. Yes I don't see a solar GG-B100 coming as it would change the price point I suspect. I assume the GST is used day to day but not gym as it may get scratched up, so that's when the Mudmaster comes out? Cheers man
YOU DEEEEEEF DONT want a watch that can "connect to the grid". I'm telling u. OFFGRID Tech is gna sky rocket in value as we enter into the Beast System!!!
Absolutely. It's the relative simplicity of these watches that's gives them the edge, as well as the uncomparable toughness. Thanks for the comment man..
In my work I use fairly stiff gloves. This causes that I often unintentional push buttons on my watch. The buttons on the gwg 1000 looks better "protected" than on the gg b100. The lack of Bluetooth is unfortunate a dealbreaker for me... Do you have a model to recomend that can fit both these demands?
All ok, besides the prices..... which are a bit wrong I have to say, the gg-b100 standart is roughly 300/350 Euros so something like 300 Dollars, and the GWG 1000 goes from 400 to 699 Euros
I agree, you can get the watches at those prices at the right time and place. It's the rare GWGs that are crazy expensive, like the Maharishi. I've come across some very good deals on the GG-B100 recently. Thanks for the comment!
I have the ggb100. I love it. I use the compass all the time. I know of course the gwg has that functionality but I like the look of the ggb100 slightly better. The battery isn’t a problem at all. I have changed the battery and gasket already and is no problem if you can use a screwdriver. Takes maybe 5 minutes
I feel the GWG has a tougher look, perhaps as it is asymmetrical. Visually, I prefer the symmetry of the new model. Unfortunately, it isn't a Tough Solar model. I'd buy the new model if it was solar powered.
Yes tough solar is the ideal addition to the GG-B100, and perhaps sapphire crystal. But of course the price would go up considerably with those additions. Thanks for the comment man...
I own the GWG 1000 olive strap model and the GPR 1000 Rangeman black strap model and still can't decide which one I like best. They are both astonishingly bad ass beast watches.
Man you are one of the few with the GPR 1000, such a cool watch which I would love to own one day. I wonder if the need to charge it with an external charger is the only factor which tips the balance more to the GWG-1000 which is of course tough solar and this requires zero maintenance? Cheers man!
@@stormrider1119 Better get one soon as they've stopped production on it about 5 or 6 months ago. The price may go up very fast . I believe the sheer size of it turned off alot potential customers. I personally love it's size myself. Its an extremely in your face watch. The largest G Shock ever produced.
@@Nightmareman3 interesting, I saw one second hand recently and the chap wanted £400, I was tempted to get it and probably should have done at that price.
@@Nightmareman3 that's really interesting to hear. So basically it's not an issue to have to charge it regularly, I didn't realise and assumed it was every few days like most smart watches. Thank you for the info!
I bought GGB 100 last week. Before that I had GG 1000 and I switched to GGB 100 because of the barometer and step counter. I am a fairly active dude and the step counter is really the main reason why I changed my GG 1000. However, I am itching to get GWG 1000, but it’s too expensive and I already own GGB 100, but damn, that solar tech and sapphire glass is hard to resist -.-‘
Yes that upgrade from the GG 1000 to GG-B100 is a significant one, particularly for people like us who are active. The GWG-1000 is great but remember you will not have those extra functions of the GG-B100. Of course if you can have both for the right occasion then that's prefect. Cheers!
StormRider I wonder when will they release new flagship mudmaster. The GWG 1000 is almost 5 years old now. I wish they make a new one that is solar powered, sapphire glass, all the sensor of GGB 100 and maybe even add heart rate monitor.. I would preorder one for sure. Wishful thinking though. Cheers!
Yes I think you just described my perfect watch! I can't see why they wouldn't get there so long as they can fit all the technology into the watch. I think sometimes they struggle to fit the extra sensors plus solar. But as technology advances and becomes smaller hopefully our wishes will come true...
The domed crystal on the ggb is stronger and looks way cooler than the flat saphire on the gwg, I have had saphire crystals chip, wonder what it costs on the gwg to replace, also you can fit saphire to the ggb if you so wish but I wouldn't bother.
Easy choice for me - go solar always. I have gulfmaster solar since 2013 it is still running until now no battery change. One con I can think of is that the watch is big.
The Gulfmaster is a wonderful watch. I think it has virtually all the best functionalities (maybe not the compass?? I can't recall) . The extra size is just a compromise for all that practicality and robustness, a bit like the GWG-1000. Cheers for the comment!
@@stormrider1119 I think it has the best compass it has both digital and analog. The analog hour hand will point the direction of the compass + digital shows the number. That's one of the reason I bought it :) I'm looking for a gshock watch now with a smaller size maybe this mudmaster...
@@thedjangoway9052 I must say if you don't own a Rangeman you should check that out also. I've got the blackout and love it, some prefer a positive display. It's definitely worth testing on the wrist before you make a decision on a different model - a true classic. Cheers for the comment...
I’m not exactly familiar with either one of these yet, actually have the gwg on its way to me as we speak, but I thought you could put a bearing into the watch, no? I guess even then that wouldn’t let you know where an exact location is though now that I think about it. I love that suggestion and hope they do implement that into their watches. That would be not only useful, but a heck of a lot of fun tracking down a location with just the second hand like that. Kind of wish the gwg had the connect functionality of the other!
Yes if Casio refine that function on the GG-B100 to track down a specific location/bearing it would be a superb development. Glad to hear you have a GWG-1000 coming your way, you will be amazed at the build quality... Cheers!
at first i was into watches like the citizen promaster navihawk atomic which i absolutely love then i got myself some Casio's masterpiece like the protrek prw6600 and gshock ggb100, i find myself looking at gshocks and protreck more often than citizen watches
Great video and comparison mate! I do have a couple of G Shocks: Frogman GWF1000-1, analog Frogman GWFA1000-1A2, and the Limited edition first ever G Shock smartwatch GSW H-1000 blue. I wanted to add a Mudmaster to my collection and wanted the green GWG-1000-1A3, but I just couldn’t justify the price on it, so I went for the green GG-B100 at an incredible $250USD. I am not sure if I’m gonna get used with the missed tough solar feature and changing batteries, but I do prefer the design of the GGB-100 better, not to mention the price difference since the GWG costs double just for tough solar and sapphire crystal.
Great video on these two watches thanks My GWG2000 just arrived love it. It came after I ordered the B100 now to decide keep or return the B100 lol I unfortunately paid too much for B100 live and learn
I swap between the gwg 100 and Garmin fenix 6 regularly as I play a lot of golf and cycling/running and I love them both. If you don't mind charging every 10 days or so I'd look at the fenix 6. Everything you want from the G-Shock, the Fenix does and more 👍
Yes I’m know the Fenix and have an older one. Amazing bit of kit. The charging element is the bit the keeps me away from using them regularly. Thanks for the comment Sir.
What's the point of having a negative LCD display on this watch? Besides it is very hard to read in dim light is there an advantage of it over a regular LCD display? Thank you :-).
Very good question. I honestly think it's mainly aesthetics, there is little practical advantage to a negative diaplay. It just looks stealthier and for some people having a digital screen on a watch makes it look less refined. I don't agree with that personally and wear my metal square and GA-2100 with pride in formal environments, both of which have digital displays. Hope that helps. Cheers!
Which watch? I've the greyed-out GWG-1000 and the negative display is easy to read in all lights, I think it would look wrong with the colour scheme with a positive LCD display.
Nah. Sapphire crystals are not that expensive, you can buy $50 made in china watches with sapphire. As for solar, I don't know, there are pretty cheap G-Shocks also with solar, like my GW-5600. I'm more inclined to believe the main reason the GWG is so expensive is the Made in Japan tag - the finish level and quality control in these models is just much better and more expensive than Made in Thailand models.
You can fit saphire to the gg100 but I wouldn't bother as the domed crystal thats in it is stronger and with the dome looks way more interesting and attractive than the flat saphire on the gwg.
Who is paying 3k for the GWG-1000? You can get them used and new between 300-700 on ebay and other stores. Even the G-Shock web shop has them listed new in that range.
Just the rare discontinued models such as the Maharishi and Desert Camo are priced like that online. It's a lot to ask for a watch that can be bought much cheaper just with a more common colour I agree. I saw a blackout GWG-1000 in a G-Shock supplier just last week for about 500 USD. It's a beautiful piece. The G-Shock web shop does sell new models and normal colours at RRP although I find you generally have to be quick to buy them as when you actually go to purchase they often aren't avaliable. Cheers!
I have both and love them both. One point I’d like to make, is that both are automatically atomically set, and both mine are always absolutely correct, meaning that are both the same when next to each other. Yours are over a minute out from each other. One is not being set. ? Current prices are £260 - £660
Good observation Sir, correct I did not have multi-band 6 enabled at this time. I was doing some experiments on time setting so they were manually set. I love MB6 and generally use it all the time when I’m within range of the transmission zones. I did a video on MB6 a while ago if you want to geek out on that topic :)
Yes it's the premium option but significantly more expensive and the GG-B100 has many more functions. So depends what your price point is and priorities are from a functional perspective. Cheers!
No solar is a deal breaker. to me a g shock has to be solar and as of late it also the time has to auto set, either through blue tooth or atomic. i think that in this day and age having a watch that is not perfectly in time all the time is a bust . I have both atomic and blue tooth. blue tooth is more convenient for a city dweller since you always near your cell phone. but if you are deployed and don't have access to your cellphone because of battery issues or just policy or if you go through areas that forbid blue tooth use (such as classified areas ) atmoic is a better choice than blue tooth. I love the gwg 1000 but unless i was fully deployed in the military i don't think I need one? half the functions are going to be wasted on tennis instructor me when i have a compass and temp meters on my smart phone.I do have a rangeman 9400 if i ever venture into the outlands ..but for 99% of my use my gravity master GR-b100 does everything i need ,it is blue tooth , though solar looks fantastic and got it off the outlet store for 200 dollars. thanks for the review!
Thanks a lot for your insight Robert. I agree totally when you say watches these days should always tell the correct time automatically. That's one of the biggest gripes of the top end watches that you can spend 10,000 dollars plus on - they aren't totally reliable for their core function. I have a Tag Heuer Carrera and over time it has lost the duration to which it holds its 'charge' after being wound. So imagine my frustration when after a weekend using my Mudman on sports etc I pick it up to go to the office, look at it at work to tell the time and it's lost its charge and it's telling completely the wrong time and even date. And also that is precisely why...... wait for it.... I love G-Shocks. :) They present absolutely none of these headaches, are much cheaper and in my humble opinion a black out GA-2100 looks great with a suit, as does the black metal square. Sounds like your Rangeman and GravityMaster are the right models for you and I agree, whilst the GWG-1000 is a wonderful bit of kit it's overkill unless you do some pretty extreme sports/ activity etc. Cheers!
@@stormrider1119 I do think that Casio is going the wrong way with g shocks by removing the tough solar capability to add step counters instead . hopefully they go back to the core of g shock which is having a watch that is tough, self reliant (never have to adjust time or change batteries ) and has a few cool task eccentric features.kind of like the gravity master can log flights, the frog can tell dive time and depth, the mud master can navigate .and leave step counting to smart watches. and about auto time the reason why i think that it is important for watches to always be on time is because at it's core watches have one job, and that is to tell time, that is their main task. if they are getting beat on this task by cellphones and gps devices then this is why people do not wear watches anymore, And regarding expensive watches.. some watch aficionados get off on automatic mechanisms and such . to me it is too antiquated . they required maintenance every 2 years (which on a watch like rolex it can run into the several hundred dollars) are fragile , and fail at the simple task of telling time accurately .. but to each it;s own. Thanks for the reply. i subbed and looking forward to more of your reviews.
@@ROrneli I agree 100% will all points you made, seems like we are cut from the same cloth. Sending your expensive watch for expensive maintenance every two years just so it tells the time is insanity to me. And yes the step counter is definitely not a selling point in this day and age. Not having to charge a watch or worry about battery life definitely is a selling point as most smart watches will always have that as their weak point. Thanks for the support, I've got two videos under construction and hope to get them out soon. Judging from your taste both will be on interest to you. Cheers!
Great review! I got the green one and it's killer!!! Only issue I have is between 9 and 3 the face is bubbled up? It looks odd. It's a defect. I think. But watch it's great. Location feature is amazing. Get me home watch!!! Lol
Thanks for the kind words man, Mudmasters are absolute beasts no doubt, love them. I think your observation is in the GG-B100 and the fact the screen is convex and bubbles out and gives a minor distortion to the face at certain angles. This is normal if that is what you mean, part of the design. The GWG-1000 face is flat. If it's something else and the glass isn't perfectly transparent that does sound like and issue and I would take it to a CASIO dealer to check. I hope that helps brother!
@@stormrider1119 I wish u could see my IG picture it's not the glass. It's the face. Very odd. Phdbdygrd is my IG. Hit me up. Take a look at the photo. I'd love your opinion after seeing it. It just started too. Almost a year and it was fine
I purchased my GWG-1000 a week ago. I've been outside with the watch a few times on a sunny day, both days were full days out in the sun with the watch. But my Battery is still showing as "Medium". Question.... How much more do I need to charge my watch in the sun to make the battery at battery level "High"? P.S... I am in Canada, Calgary. Our eleveation is pretty high here, so we get a nice strong sun
First of all from personal experience I wouldn't be concerned. I would suggest it should be outside in decent sunlight for perhaps 8+ hours to flick to high. The fact its medium also means it has loads of juice left. I put Power Save on generally and have backlight set to 3 seconds and have never had my GWG flick to 'LOW'.
@@stormrider1119 SO it hit HIGH today lol...finally... left the watch on my porch foir a few hrs, came back and checked and she was all full. thanks again mate, cheers :)
I purchased the GWG 2000 yesterday and had to return it. I have a smaller wrist and its sits right on the bone of my wrist, and the screw down when my arm was at my side digs into my hand. I was looking forward to owning it but it did not work out for me, too uncomfortable to wear. Wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a different watch. Thanks
I understand this model is not ideal for the smaller wrist. I would highly recommend you try out the G9700 Mudman in a store and see if that is better for you. It’s so comfortable for me personally. Cheers!
Regarding whether a G-shock is assembled in Japan or somewhere else: cars from Ford, Toyota, Volkswagen, Honda and other companies are each made in many different countries all around the world, and have been for quite a few decades. I've never yet heard of any quality control issues tied to the country where they were made. It would surprise me if quality control of G-Shocks made outside of Japan (or watches from other good brands assembled in countries other than where the brands are headquartered) is a real issue outside of the imagination of some collectors.
Yes I would agree, in this day and age it isn't geography dependant. I have no issue buying the G-Shocks manufactured outside of Japan. If it's G-Shock it will be tough. There is something cool knowing something was made in Japan but that's just me. :)
In my case it helped when i kept my phone upwards when i used location function. Alltough sometimes i still have to try a couple of Time until it goes ok.
Yes I hear you. It's a major factor for me in most instances - I simply love that function. If a specific G-Shock is especially interesting to me I'll still try it without tough solar. Cheers!
It’s not for me because I live in a area where there is more than 2 g shock stores and I can change them when ever I run outta batt. Plus the battery’s cheap af
Very good question William. Honestly if I wanted a solid watch that did everything I needed, was indestructible and didn't want to pay too much I'd go Rangeman GW-9400 at a decent price and try and upgrade to a carbon fibre strap if you see one for sale. They are just a true classic and won't let you down. Although I do encourage everyone to go to a mall and try each type on if possible to make sure it 'feels right' on their wrist. Let me know what you decide. Cheers!
I must be honest I haven't worn one. I have seen them in the flesh and it's a bold watch with some impressive functions. For me I like the relatively low key look of the Rangeman and Mudman but that's all personal preference. Cheers!
@@stormrider1119 thanks again. I dont need all the features of the 9400 rangeman, or ggb100 or gwg1000, but I love the look of all 3. Also saw the blue ga700, and like the look a lot, I know its a cheaper watch, but the look is nice. Thoughts on getting a used 9400, and changing the band and bezel to desert camo. Also the ggb100 is very nice in person.
@@billscully2521 honestly a used 9400 and strap swap is a great approach. You'll get if for a good price and highly unlikely there will be anything wrong with it because frankly they are almost impossible to break haha. Cheers!
I would say it depends. If you want full on zombie apocalypse survival model and don't mind it being a bit heavy spend the exrra and go GWG. If you want something slightly more refined and a bit more comfortable on the wrist go GG-B100. Despite having the same name they do serve slightly different purposes. Cheers!
@@stormrider1119 i love to keep my watches nice, but am very active (kettlebells, lifting, etc). I have a 9400 rangeman and love it. Just trying to decide between green or orange ggb100, or green gwg1000. I love both, such a tough choice.
@@billscully2521 Always fun deciding which one to go for. I also like my Mudman for Kettlebells as it's slightly smaller and has a more 'rubber' feel to it so impacts really don't hurt it at all. The GWG-1000 is so bulky on the wrist I think you would find it digs into your arm on deadlifts, KBs etc. So the GG-B100 is a good call as smoother but don't discount the Mudman. Cheers!
Very good question, it totally depends on use, is power save enabled, do you use the alarms, compass and longer backlight often etc etc. It's not a factor which concerns me personally as the watch let's you know the battery is getting low I understand. It's yet to be seen how long it really lasts as it's a relatively new watch. Cheers!
It is not. That is one of the main differences between the GWG-1000 and the GG-B100. The GG-B100 is not tough solar and not crystal sapphire glass. But it has many other great elements the GWG-1000 does not. Cheers!
I cant see why people have such a problem with changing a battery once every couple of years, the B100 batteries are cheap to buy and the gasket should be checked every couple of years anyway, so whats the problem? maybe its because I don't have a large collection of watches I guess? tbh I looked at the GWG1000 and I don't think it offers the best value for money, it has less features than the b100, and one thing that put me off was the screws in the crown are fake af, just cosmetic, where as in the b100 they are real that just feels more authentic and tactical to me. As far as quality goes the B100 is manufactured in Japan but it is cased in Thailand as long as a manufacturers quality control is good it won't make a difference. Only watch snobs care about things like that, I think the B100 is great because its not cheap, but it's not so expensive that I will be scared to wear it in case it gets damaged. That is why I will be buying a B100.
@@stormrider1119 ok so I have been wearing the GG-B100 for a couple weeks and I love the watch especially how it looks, to me they have hit upon the perfect level of wording its functional in that it tells you enough info but not over the top on the face and they have moved some wording onto the strap but its not in your face so it does not have a gimicky feel about it and looks more grown up. Another great thing is how easy it is to read at night with all the hands, numbers and markers being white it reflects the maximum light and the backlight is amazing so powerful, I have a GA-100 and its completely useless at night so I knew I wanted a watch that was easy to read at night and this is it, also the loom is great and looks cool. The functions are brilliant and practical, I use the barometer all the time its great for predicting the trends in the weather. The only negative I have found is the strap, its very hard the first few days it really made my wrist sore and I had to adjust it to relieve the discomfort, now I have to say its gotten a lot better with time either my wrist has toughened up or the strap has moulded to my wrist a bit more, either way I am able to wear it for extended periods (constantly for days without removing even while sleeping), but I have noticed upon removal I'm left with quite a savage imprint on my wrist, I think in my case I could have done with holes in between the holes im on and the next ones because when i loosen to the next set of holes its a bit looser than i like, so I have ordered some strap adapters from jaysandkays which came today and I will try it on a nato strap, its a bit of a shame because I love the look of the strap, but we will see how comfortable it is on a nato strap and if its worth the sacrifice, if not I will just go back to the original strap as it doesnt bother me that much any more. All things considered I think the B100 is excellent and for the price I think its the best value for money, and If you can get it in a sale like I did at 35% off its a no brainer, I know I could sell it 2nd hand and not loose any money. I'm not worried about the battery when it runs out I will either change it myself using a tutorial on youtube or more likely just pay a local business to do it for me they do it while you wait and you get a guarantee for 2 years, I think it was about 15 quid last time I had my ga-100 done and he services the rubber seal as well. GG-B100 is an easy 9.5/10 only downside is the strap and that probably is subjective depending on wrist size Edit/Update: I now have the nato band and I can say its much much more comfortable I would highly recommend one if you find the GG-B100 strap uncomfortable
@@eclectic_gamer whats yuhr wrist size ??? i liked it alot but it was quite big for my 6.75 inch wrist . ....hv to work on my wrist to increase its widness. for a while i bought the new gd b500 rectangular style in black
I am buying the ggb100 only because I live in New Zealand and we don't have a location tower down here for the gwg1000. It would be nice if the ggb100 had solar power
You won't be disappointed man. It's a wonderful watch. Would be great if it had solar, many people have said the same but it may just be a bridge too far in terms of having space for all the tech required in that watch. It has so many functions. However, if solar is important to you I do highly recommend you try out the Rangeman also, it is tough solar, has a compass, MB6 if you ever travel etc. It's a classic watch too. Enjoy the GG-B100 and let me know how you dig it! Cheers.
Wow thanks for the reply, and yes the Bluetooth connectivity changes the power drain dynamic of a watch, and it can’t always be reliably recharged via light. That is also true given the limited space available for light to enter a subdial photovoltaic cell that would recharge a light-powered watch. I’m pretty sure that, in the future, Casio will find an interesting engineering solution for this, but for now the one obvious wishlist feature for the G-Shock Mudmaster GG-B100 is solar power generation - if anything because it speaks to Casio’s goal of having watches you never need to power or set.
@@leonpatrick5606 100% agree. The technology is moving so fast in this field. When you get the GG-B100 you will see the Location Indicator has such great potential, just needs a bit more evolution to make it a genius addition to the Master of G series. I.e. Being able to set a predetermined location without visiting it first and then it just points you which direction to travel and a distance. Would be amazing for navigating new cities without having to get your phone out all the time.
Update! I LOVE IT. I've had it for a whole two days now and can't stop playing with it, the battery will probably go flat in a couple of days but I don't mind.
@@leonpatrick5606 awesome man, I thought you would be loving it. And don't worry that battery will last you a loooooong time no matter how much you fiddle with it ;) Congrats
Indeed I have my friend. It's a beautiful beast and I am very tempted to get one. There is a limited edition Toyota Land Cruiser version with a blue strap that is my cup of tea. Cheers!
hello Stormrider..will look tougher/more character on the Mudmaster/Rangeman * .. change factory strap to a Paracord survival watch strap, since you love the outdoors:))), made one for my PRG 240 protrek**my back up*** I would go solar powered G shock watches
@@stormrider1119 I never wear mine to be honest, but I had to have one in the collection 😂 My fave is my GW9300 Mudman or my GW7900. May well sell it to be honest.
I've never owned a Pathfinder but they definitely look like quality bids of kit with a lot of useful functions. I assume most of the working elements are shared with G-Shocks. Thanks for the comment, cheers!
So, GWR-B1000 Gravitymaster is still the best G-Shock out there - lighter and cheaper then MT-G and MR. G, while having the same functions, quality of build, solar charging, sapphire glass, full analog, bluetooth and radio connected, etc. And the only G-Shock out there in full carbon. Damn yes I love my watch, but I did my homework before buy also. Good luck with Your new GG-B100 and its yearly battery change in Casio workshop because of special screws that only Casio can unscrew - carbon monoque, but no tough solar - yea...
That GWR B1000 is a beautiful design with all the tech I agree it's beautiful. I really like having a compass which is why the GG-B100 is of interest. I need to check out the GravityMaster again though after your comment, it made me think. Cheers!
Nice comparison. However you never addressed the title of the video. Why do you think time is running out? Is Casio introducing a new version of Mudmaster and retiring the previous models?
Thanks for the message Mark. I suggest time is running out simply because the GWG is increasingly hard to get hold of at a decent price, i.e. Unless you are prepared to pay well over RRP you may not find GWG-1000s avaliable for much longer. And therefore it prompts the question should you consider the GG-B100 as an alternative. I see the trends of certain G-Shocks such a rarer Rangeman, Frogman, Squares and some GravityMasters going that way and predict the Mudmaster will follow suit, look up the GWG-1000 Maharishi. If I didn't have a GWG and wanted one I wouldnt want to wait much longer, if that makes sense... Cheers!
*You do have to change the battery of the tough solar, what the hell are you on about??* Yes solar batteries are much more lasting than normal ones, my GGB lasted three and a half years before having to replace batteries having used only the light & thermometer (you dont even need the other functions) for 10$ Solar batteries last around 10 years and then have to be replaced, the problem is the price One solar battery costs 80$ to be replaced, regular batteries cost me 10$ for 3.5 years, so if anyone cant calculate the difference, basically it costs 25$ for a regular watch batteries for 10 years and 80$ for a solar battery for 10 years.
So I believe I read an indicator does come up when it needs a new battery but can't recall for certain. I will check the guide and see if it mentions. The battery life on this will be very long though so not much to worry about there. You can do a proactive battery change every few years if it makes you feel comfortable.
@@stormrider1119 thanks for the answer, just worry when i am going for camping or hunting a few days. But may be if i change in few year period it will be good. Thanks brother
Why the hell you want the taken away the best functionality on the new Mudmaster GG-B100 is beyond Compression!? and the put on a step counter that no one needs and called a sensor .... seriously? Mudmaster GG-B100 ain't a field watch no a City watch nether. A huge miss if you ask me..on the world of smartphone and smartwatch s!!!
They could have called it something different so it wouldn't be compared to the GWG-1000. One major factor is price point, the GG-B100 is significantly cheaper hence they couldn't include solar and sapphire. They are two very different watches.
Gbb100 crap I use it loss of memory even if you have been there and record it ...affected by the little metal even a fence or a spoon altimeter constantly needs calibration hard to use with the app total piece or rubbish!!!!
Note, if you're an active soldier or officer the GWG1K is the only option due to the battlefield surveillance threath. A watch connected with Bluetooth to an online cellular put your whole unit at risk and is therefore prohibited.
Excellent comparison. I had both, and I kept the gwg-1000.
Thanks man, I appreciate the input. What was the main driving point to keeping the GWG above the GG-B100? Really interested to know as the GG is new to me.
@@stormrider1119 My guess is Tough Solar.
I would do the same
If I had both I'd keep both.
@@davidjoseph921 solar and saphire
No Tough Solar is a deal breaker. Most of us have multiple G Shocks and we cannot be constantly changing batteries. Love the features otherwise.

GWG 1000 the best by far, solar a must.
It's a very special watch Stephen. Its the true zombie apocalypse option as it's seemingly indestructible but also looks darn cool.
8:18 Literally harnesses the power of the 'SUN' ! but very nicely detailed comparison.
True! Cheers
@@stormrider1119 Thanks! I will let you know if I do. Depends when they release it, and how long it takes to arrive.
Cheers man
Exactly
I have same problem but will probably get the b100 now cause I like all GShocks and I deserve it 😁👍🏻

Thanks for the comparison atb Lee
Thanks for the comment Lee. Much appreciated. Great choice on the GG too ;)
Tough solar supposed charge on any light source not sun only....?
In my work I use fairly stiff gloves. This causes that I often unintentional push buttons on my watch. The buttons on the gwg 1000 looks better "protected" than on the gg b100. The lack of Bluetooth is unfortunate a dealbreaker for me... Do you have a model to recomend that can fit both these demands?
Thank you for the great review!
Thank you. Two of the best G-Shocks out there...
Cheers man!
@@stormrider1119 I've had mine for over a year and have never once charged it. I haven't used the GPS functions all that much either though.
@@stormrider1119 Better get one soon as they've stopped production on it about 5 or 6 months ago. The price may go up very fast . I believe the sheer size of it turned off alot potential customers. Congrats Jon, that's is one slick watch. It would be on my list if I didn't have a GWG already. Let me know how you get on with it. Cheers!
StormRider I just bought the GWG 1000 1A3 the olive military green one. What a watch!!! Love it!
That's one of the reason I bought it :) I'm looking for a gshock watch now with a smaller size maybe this mudmaster...

go BIG or go home
Big is the trend

The GWG 1000 is a beast atomic solar cant go wrong
Atomic? Means time measurements with the atomic vibrations in a small watch?
With packed function like ggb100 it wise to use battery since it's an outdoor activity watch and not daily use

It’s superb Sir.
It's the best watch Eva
GWG1000 wins with a spa hire glass. You can have a step counter on your mobile or or Apple Watch.
Yes the step counter on the GG-B100 isn't a huge advantage for that exact reason; most phones will track that data point. Thanks for the comment :)
Very true, only thing I miss is Bluetooth.
Tough Solar and Saphire Crystal on GWG-1000, that's why the price difference.
CASIO has some very cheap non-gshock solar watches (AQ-S10W is $38 at Walmart.com). Solar technology is not that expensive.
@@stormrider1119 yep I’ll have a look!
MB6 is a game changer! 👍🏻
The GG-b100 is mineral glass, the GWG is sapphire. Much better.
They present absolutely none of these headaches, are much cheaper and in my humble opinion a black out GA-2100 looks great with a suit, as does the black metal square.
Sounds like your Rangeman and GravityMaster are the right models for you and I agree, whilst the GWG-1000 is a wonderful bit of kit it's overkill unless you do some pretty extreme sports/ activity etc.
Cheers!
@@stormrider1119 I do think that Casio is going the wrong way with g shocks by removing the tough solar capability to add step counters instead . hopefully they go back to the core of g shock which is having a watch that is tough, self reliant (never have to adjust time or change batteries ) and has a few cool task eccentric features.kind of like the gravity master can log flights, the frog can tell dive time and depth, the mud master can navigate .and leave step counting to smart watches.
and about auto time the reason why i think that it is important for watches to always be on time is because at it's core watches have one job, and that is to tell time, that is their main task. if they are getting beat on this task by cellphones and gps devices then this is why people do not wear watches anymore,
And regarding expensive watches.. some watch aficionados get off on automatic mechanisms and such . to me it is too antiquated . they required maintenance every 2 years (which on a watch like rolex it can run into the several hundred dollars) are fragile , and fail at the simple task of telling time accurately .. but to each it;s own.
New Subscriber!!! Sorry forgot to tell ya lol
Also, I have a video on solar charge time and Power Save mode which should give you some more context. Great choice on the watch. Cheers!
@@stormrider1119 SO it hit HIGH today lol...finally... left the watch on my porch foir a few hrs, came back and checked and she was all full. thanks again mate, cheers :)
I'm proud to own both of these watches.
Cheers!
If i can get gwg100 for 200 dollars and gb100 for 300 dollars which one would you pick?
GWG-1000 for 200 USD is an incredible price in my opinion. I'd go that route. Cheers!
Have to have a pace count with a compass.love to see what happens when you unscrew the crown in the mud.the ggb100 is the winner.
i still have a problem with gg b100 to use location function. in 80% I have error when trying to connect.
In my case it helped when i kept my phone upwards when i used location function. Alltough sometimes i still have to try a couple of Time until it goes ok.
No Tough Solar is a deal-breaker for me.
@@Rivals-jo4ns each to their own, buddy. I'm in Thailand, and it's not so easy 😜
Glad I got both 😌
That’s the way to go if you can. Both ace watches :)
Would you go with a ggb mudmaster, gg1000 mudmaster, gsg mudmater, or rangeman 9400. Or pay up for the gwg1000
Cheers!
@@stormrider1119 thanks, what are your thoughts on the gravity master grb200
Cheers!
If there was a $150 difference between the 2, is it worth it to go with the gwg? Or just grab a ggb100
I would say it depends. If you want full on zombie apocalypse survival model and don't mind it being a bit heavy spend the exrra and go GWG. If you want something slightly more refined and a bit more comfortable on the wrist go GG-B100. Despite having the same name they do serve slightly different purposes. Cheers!
@@stormrider1119 thanks. Thoughts on the orange or green ggb100, love them both
@@billscully2521 I like both also and in hindsight I think I wish I went orange. The Burton limited edition is quite unique too...
Cheers!
How long you think the GGB-100's battery last?
Very good question, it totally depends on use, is power save enabled, do you use the alarms, compass and longer backlight often etc etc. It's not a factor which concerns me personally as the watch let's you know the battery is getting low I understand. It's yet to be seen how long it really lasts as it's a relatively new watch. Cheers!
@@stormrider1119 GGB-100 has power saving mode too?
@@ngocpaht7927 yes bro it has .
@@garvbatra7 didn’t know about that
@@ngocpaht7927 ok bro
Sir is that g shock GBB 100 tough solar
It is not. That is one of the main differences between the GWG-1000 and the GG-B100. The GG-B100 is not tough solar and not crystal sapphire glass. But it has many other great elements the GWG-1000 does not. Cheers!
@@stormrider1119 thank you sir for your answer but so sad it’s not solar power I’m happy you have it sir :)
6:25 amen to that
Cheers Sir!
All your points make sense, let me know how you find the B100! Thanks for the comment. Cheers
GG-B100 is an easy 9.5/10 only downside is the strap and that probably is subjective depending on wrist size
Edit/Update:
I now have the nato band and I can say its much much more comfortable I would highly recommend one if you find the GG-B100 strap uncomfortable
@@eclectic_gamer whats yuhr wrist size ??? i liked it alot but it was quite big for my 6.75 inch wrist . ....hv to work on my wrist to increase its widness. for a while i bought the new gd b500 rectangular style in black

I thought your phone was able to tell where it was on the planet so it makes all them changes it’s self? Isn’t that why they call it a smart phone?
I have the gg1000, the gr b200 but i still need the gwg1000. I didnt need so many expensive watches , i have only one left Arm but i wandet the gwg .

Lack of solar charging on the ggb100 was a deal breaker for me
It would be great it it had tough solar agreed. It's a balance of price and function I guess...
Cheers!
400 in Canada vs 1000 just for solar, stainless steel and saphire is insane. 600 extra never. 200 maybe
i paid $360 for the mudmaster you paid $200 for so deff a good call
Cheers!
*You do have to change the battery of the tough solar, what the hell are you on about??*
Yes solar batteries are much more lasting than normal ones, my GGB lasted three and a half years before having to replace batteries having used only the light & thermometer (you dont even need the other functions) for 10$
Solar batteries last around 10 years and then have to be replaced, the problem is the price
One solar battery costs 80$ to be replaced, regular batteries cost me 10$ for 3.5 years, so if anyone cant calculate the difference, basically it costs 25$ for a regular watch batteries for 10 years and 80$ for a solar battery for 10 years.
Is the gg b100 have indicator battery low?
I only consider a Gshock if it´s made in Japan and solar powered
Yeah for me tough solar is a big factor but not a show stopper if it's battery. Inbuilt compass is another personal preference.

Why you giving the price in dollars
I guess because it’s easily recognisable and easy to convert on an international basis. Hope that helps!
Have both models and think they are the best mudmasters 👍
Both classics. Different but great in their own distinct ways...
Both different but amazing
GWG is not 1000 dollars they go for 800 dollars unless he's in Europe and isn't talking about American currency
