- Mercedes Benz AMG GTR Wet Drive & Talk 2024. My First video of the new year I decided to take the AMG GTR out for a blast except the weather decided to rain making the roads very sketchy and dangerous to fully enjoy the car. Still had a fun drive and truly love this car every time I get a chance to use it. Traction is limited in the wet even with the yellow knob turned on for the ASC but with the rear wheel steer and huge contact patch up front and perfectly balanced chassis it still has confidence to control under power. Stay tuned for more consistent content along with more drive videos coming this week along with new featured cars etc.

Every time I start to think about going back to a practical car… you do one of these drive videos… 😂
Life’s too short for practical anymore 😂 impractical more fun
Always enjoy your “driving” videos. I’m in Texas, north of Dallas. I visit family, south of Denver, two or three times a year. There are some fantastic roads, two lane “highways”, that twist, turn, rise and fall, open range, cattle ranches, and forests, almost no traffic, posted at 70 MPH. You can “drive” for hours just enjoying America! Two days of pure diving pleasure v three hours of flying. I always drive!
Ironic that you’re thinking about your GT 350R. Some time ago I commented that if you sold it, ten years from now you might regret it. Not a “perfect” car, but, damn near a Perfect American Car, V8, powerful, rough around the edges, and loads of FUN! Thanks for sharing & Happy Motoring 🤠
I am sure... Best of luck !!
Such a beautiful beast!
Thanks
German Viper... I love it! And in the best color you could order. So awesome.
Couldn't agree more!
You love green cars. That thing is a beast. I drove most of the AMG line about 3 years ago at laguna seca and man you really do have to know how to drive. I came from an all wheel drive Porsche turbo thats surprisingly forgiving compared to these AMG's. So fast, sound amazing and can get squirley in the rear real quick! Good fun, adrenaline style.
Right on! This was first time for me on wet roads with the AMG GTR it was scary but fun at the same time you can hear and feel car loose traction constantly
I love the AMG GTR it's beautiful car def a keeper. But I loved the GT350R you had it was alot of good content that came of it would love to see it back. But I think the Viper sounds like a great idea I love Shelbys love Vipers..
I'm looking to sell my 5.0 for a GT350 later this year..looking to get ahold of an Iconic Silver one.
Silver GT350 are rare only made in final batch of late 19-20 models i saw 3 for sale recently but sellers are dreaming asking way more than current market. Awesome cars in any color
Thanks for the video and get the Viper.....LOL
Find me a 15-17 Viper GTS or GTC in red or black No stripes under 10k miles its really hard to find
The blow off's, pops and V8 sounds make this a reason to do a radio delete.... awesome car.
Yeah this car sounds so mean and it has an incredible Burmester sound system that slams when your out cruising
How do you think it stacks up to a 580-2 huracan and the new maserati mc20. All could be acquired under 200k at the moment. Are you still taking the gtr?
Absolutely the MC20 is great by design and engineering but too soft and nobody is buying them because of the diminished brand reputation. The Lambo is awesome but a bit too small inside and feels dated. The AMG has roomier interior, killer audio system and feels very unique with an extremely stiff suspension and the most confidence of grip out of the 3. The GTR is also rarer based on production. It depends what type of car you’re looking for but i had the choice of many other cars and still went AMG GTR after i test drove it in Race mode for an hour I bought it on the spot
Hey Phil a video twice a week would be great!!!! How about a ‘95 Corvette ZR1? Is that too old?
95 Vettes are buckets of bolts and plastic still cool cars
I had a ‘96 bought new and I the quality I thought on the interior was a little lacking…. My ‘93 5.0 GT was better… but they looked cool!
Hey ai need to buy a small cordless polisher to get into door handles, a pillars, polishing the small enter console on my brand new GTD that is black piano- do you advise the Ibrid Nano longneck or the griot’s hybrid? The nano Inwould get the sustainer kit even though Inwould probably need the finer discs and all- can you give ma an advise? I polish possible every 3 months or so- I have a few cars- thanks Phil!
i think you gonna get a zl1 1le :)
Got both 😎
How's the rear wheel steer in parking lots?
Awesome but car has insane front tire chatter from Ackerman angle it’s nuts how much of a race car it is underneath
@@autofanaticcars That's awesome!
I want to buy this car used 2018 but concerned about reliability? I am cross shopping this with 2021 gt500 track pack.
Find one with full service records these cars aren’t that high tech and very well built unlike the Shelby
@@autofanaticcars isn't the shelby much more reliable? Especially the 2021
No i have an amg gtr. Its pretty much bullet proof even with turbo upgrade
@@quinybotiesthe transmission isn’t…
Don’t these cars have a weird skid thing when turning slow on full lock?
It be cool if you can show a video of that is like since it is common on these kind of cars.
I actually filmed a video on the extreme front ackerman angle and tire chatter but never bothered to post as I felt the subject matter would not interest many.
It’s one of those things people didn’t know existed until they drive a car like this. When I drove mine, thought my car was broken.
Sorry if I missed it, I'm that guy NOT on social media Phil but I take it you finally moved to GA🤔
Have not moved yet coming soon
@@autofanaticcars Well, when you said it was 51° and that wooded area kind of looked like down South.
The transmission in these really concerns me… that main shaft seal goes bad and costs $15k-25k… I love the amg gt, but idk if I’d be okay risking that
They said same with first gen NSX and failure rates were extremely low. Just find a car with records not abused and youll be ok
@@autofanaticcars I’ve been looking. It’s the Getrag 7DCL750 that’s the issue. It’s a separate issue than the cf driveshaft. My preference is the pre facelift 2016-2017 GTS, but the pretty much guaranteed transmission failure is too much for it to be worth it. By looking through carfax reports and BaT listings, it’s incredibly common and can happen no matter the mileage. I’ve seen cars with transmissions replaced after 3k mi and I’ve seen ones with 60k mi on their third. From what I’ve seen, there haven’t been any revisions to the transmission. It’s the same one in the 458, FF, Ford GT, SLS, etc and they all have the same issue…
I had a zl1 1le and now I have a gt350r. Yes the camaro was faster, but not even close to as enjoyable as the Shelby.
I never drove one but one is otw today a 2023 il do videos on I’m dying to compare it to my prior Shelbys so thanks for your feedback
