Massively enjoying my Samsung Odyssey G80SD for nearly a month, and it's stunning! So glad it's getting its dues, especially for it's multi-media usage and super clarity and picture quality with next-gen anti-glare (I can't process how Samsung even created this coating, it's insane!).
“Next gen anti-glare” bro it just matte….. should’ve gotten a glossy version it it handles reflections better than the matte version and since both have raised blacks your getting worse PQ lol but still good monitor 👍
@@mannotwiththeplan too add to this, the G80SD does come with a remote and utilises Samsung Tizen OS menus. Perhaps not as elegant as using your computer or laptop hotkeys to, say, control brightness but the remote does make it easier to do that versus buttons on the G80SD monitor.
Please give us feedback as to whether the model you have purchased is also affected by failures. There is supposed to be a firmware problem here and the monitor is supposed to go black all the time. I am curious

I just got my G80SD for a week, it’s definitely one of my most expensive purchase for gaming so far but it’s truly worth it. I can confirm rtings is legit with this recommendation, went back to the store to look at other oled monitors and walked out the store with pride 😂
Hardly ever hear anyone suggest the lower 240hz Gigabyte Aorus FO27Q2 as a cheaper alternative to the FO27Q3, they just suggest an another 240Hz brand.
depending how good your current monitor is id say wait a year or so, the rate these monitors are improving recently is crazy, and ive noticed a few issues with the current ones, the auto adjusting brightness being the main one, that being said a lot are discounted atm if you didnt want to wait
I bought the Odyssey G6 OLED a couple weeks ago, it was on sale in Australia with a huge $500 discount. That made it the equivalent of $650USD for a 360Hz 1440p QD-OLED monitor.
Is it good? I've been looking for reviews but almost no one talks about that monitor, and I've seen some comments saying it's bad but idk why, I want it for pc use only.
still very satisfied with my msi MEG 342C. I got it for a heck of a deal BTW or I would have chosen the alienware. I got mine for $600 open box at Best Buy.
I wish you would mention if a monitor is Glossy or matte for each model in the future, that's the main deciding factor for me as I will never buy a matte or semi glossy monitor
The AOC Q27G3XMN is definitely the tempting choice at the moment, but, eh. Dunno if I really want to risk a VA Panel's ghosting/smearing. I hear there's supposedly a newer upgraded variant that only released very recently (The AOC Q27G4XM. Very similarly named, as per typical monitor bs standards) which is also tempting, but it doesn't seem to be really widely available yet. A shame. Don't think I want to jump for an OLED yet either, ideally gonna keep whatever I get next for a good number of years.
Originally, the UPX couldn't get firmware updates, but they fixed that, and I believe there is no kvm. Plus the usb c port does not does only 15 watts of power versus 90
@@Morya58 nice, that's all basically irrelevant for my needs. if the panel turns out to be the same as other samsung based qd-oleds i might just go with upx, being the cheapest in my region rn
The other difference is half-bandwidth Displayport 2.1, which is an additional cost for the MSI MPG. Some people wish to future proof by taking advantage of Displayport 2.1, especially as that standard can bypass the need to use Display Stream Compression (DSC) that current full-bandwidth Displayport 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 use. However, ignoring the fact that there are so few Displayport 2.1 devices in the market, as the MSI MPG has only partial or half the bandwidth of Displayport 2.1, DSC will still apply. In my opinion, I wouldn't make this spec the deciding factor for the MSI MPG, and instead consider it's other upgrades over the MSI MAG variant. Now that the MAG versions can be firmware upgraded, they are extremely competitive offerings, and, to me, the smarter purchase over the MPG. Disclaimer: I went for the Samsung Odyssey G80SD nearly a month ago, but heavily researched all 4K OLED monitors. Almost all of them are fantastic, so picking up any is a win!
@@TheOneInYellow totally agree with you, dp 2.1 is just a marketing stunt as of now. personally i’m just looking for the cheapest flat 32” 4k oled. don’t care if dual-mode, qd or w, matte or glossy, 240hz or 165hz. the firmware thing is a pretty big issue tho, glad they solved it on the upx
@97SuperGabri yep, we the consumers (mostly MSI buyers) pushed back on the MAG models, MSI listened and relented. Now, MSI gets more prospective customers (and hopefully sales) plus more respect, and users will be happier overall; win-win! Currently, Dell Alienware AW3225QF is the most affordable RRP of this years crop, but Samsung Odyssey G80SD gets more discounts by Samsung directly (or some retailers). In my case, I had, £100 discount code plus £100 recycle monitor trade-in, pushing my G80SD to £899.10! Good luck on getting the right monitor at a fantastic deal dude, and enjoy the awesome picture quality!
@ALFGamingTV Matte is a preference thing. I love my G60SD and it has a matte coating. I just have too much natural light coming in where my setup is. I just don't use VRR at all so it doesn't bother. Only thing that's a drawback is if I have a capped 60fps cut scene in a game.. it could look a little choppy.
The presentation is ok so far, BUT, let's talk about the DISADVANTAGES:☝ -The LG 32GS95UE HAS A FAN! An absolutely cheap solution for such an expensive device! A NOGO! A wearing part and also an annoying (according to Reddit forums) source of noise! LG really messed up here. -The Samsung S32DG80, on the other hand, is said to have some problems with the firmware and very often produces a black picture! Has the problem been fixed? I can't find any information on this. The last users reported this in Sep.24. I also find the colourful and bright white design on the back unattractive, unfortunately there is no black version. -As for ASUS, I would rather recommend the WOLED panel because it is not reflective like the QD-OLED version and also has better text clarity. So it's better to go for the ASUS PG32UCDP.
My last concern with OLED is the long term burn in. I’m talking 5+ years down the road. I often repurpose my older tech. So the monitor would eventually be used elsewhere.
Best mid-range is $799...... 🙃 The Aorus had better VRR motion performance image than the G8. 🤔 I've never heard anyone bring up the G8 in a best list, like, ever until now. For it to be the best is interesting.
i have heard so much bad stories about samsung monitors of its QC problem. is it really worth getting? i own two Alienware ultrawide monitors and they seem to last forever. and havent given me a single problem so far. very solid monitors. but i really like this samsung one but im a lil worried about it giving me trouble. i dont wanna send it back and then drive all the way to get a repklacement etc.

Glad this was filmed 6 months ago. Perfect timing.
I've just bought AW3225QF, before watching this video. Where would that go on this list if it was included?

I really want to get an OLED monitor for gaming. I have a LG OLED TV and the picture quality is amazing.
