At the Journey to Cherry Tree Lane D23 panel, it was shared , in a particularly emotional moment that Richard Sherman used to play it for Walt every Friday and continued to do so until his own recent passing.
Great show today Fresh Baked! Thanks for keeping us updated. It was always an exciting week with the D23 news, but the construction updates made it even more exciting! Fresh Baked!!
@@DocNo27 this will not end well and most of us know that. Neither Walt or immediate family approved of this undertaking. I can see a very large collection of Walt Disney visuals and classics on you tube. But they show America's Rivers and other legacy Walt creations. Yet soon they will be gone at WDW.
Keep your head up. Tough times never last even though sometimes they feel like they will. In time, all rough periods end up being temporary. Sunshine will return soon enough. Even rough days have beauty/lessons in them too.
My guess is that the new elevator at the haunted mansion is already complete and they just to finish everything around it. That was probably the first thing that they built and would need to get the inspectors to sign off on that before doing anything else with rearranging the queue let alone reopening the mansion for use. The construction of a new elevator is definitely biggest part of the whole construction since it’s mechanical and electrical which would draw more power and since it has to connect to the mansion itself, it makes sense that that’s already done
I was in the Disneyland Haunted Mansion last week and got stuck for about 10 minutes while something was happening. This was the literal next ride I went on after I was in a Star Tours car that broke mid-flight. Perhaps rather than coming up with new ways to anger the fans, they could spend a few dollars making the stuff they already have work properly.
When you asked "Are they changing the name of Critter Country to Bayou Country?" The answer is "yes." It is mentioned on the Disney Parks Blog post/PR release from D23. They explicitly say they are changing the name of the land.
With regard to the pit, at least part of it, it technically was already there. If you look at the bottom right in that video you’ll see a door, that is the emergency exit door in the queue right after you get off the elevator. The pit has been taken up by a switchback ramp that lead back up to ground level. There are a couple TH-cam videos featuring it. The entrance at ground level were at the crypts on the left side of the extended queue.
I’m very excited about the Walt Disney Lincoln thing, because it’s so air conditioned in there it’s a great chill spot when you’re hot and tired, but the Lincoln show kind of creeps me out 😂 so I’m glad Walt is going to be there.
It's great to have a lot of new stuff, with all of the unknowns, hints, educated guesses, speculation and scoping out progress on new features. Wish I could be there, but my back can't tollerate me being on my feet for very long.
Love your videos, in regard to that wall you mentioned on the left in for the huanted mansion, it is on concept art. Remember the concept art shows the view of the area as if your are looking out a window from the mansion. That 90 degree angle wall is the wall left to the tree in the middle of the queue in the artwork. There will still be another perimeter wall behind it with the wall fountain and iron walls The wall that you call the back wall is the one that runs along the outdoor canopy queue
15:48 I'm thinking the metal piece between the currently "white walls" is the accent piece for the straight wall in front of the extended queue with the fountain and such in the concept art, it's just missing the other circular piece that will go in there. Also, while I am here: I am SO HAPPY that they aren't removing Lincoln, I actually cried a little bit when they mentioned both shows will be on rotation. It would have been devasting to see Walt's first real human-like audio animatronic disappear after the massive success that the Lincoln animatronic was for its time. It would feel like losing Walt and gaining him in the parks at the same time. I am so happy they are being so respectful to Walt and in his achievements to include him in the same room with one he created himself. So happy! Happy tears! Also! I couldn't have been more proud and happy for you when Toni Baxter said that he watches you!! You are amazing! Keep up the fantastic job that you do for those of us who live vicariously through you work and experiences at Disney! I'm hoping to visit Disneyland soon. I'll see you out there! Much love!❤
David - Down in the hole there is a rectangular pit with 2x4 safety railing around it. That could be the pit for the elevator mechanicals. 1 and 2 story elevators are typically hydraulically operated from below. The doorway in that rectangular pit is for access to the mechanicals for repairs & maintenance. Elevators 4 stories and taller have cables operating from above the elevator. In the black area on the concrete wall, next to the ladders, are 2 doorways. Those could be the doors to the corridor with the changing portraits and the busts that follow you as you pass by. That big orange/red stepladder is at least 12' tall, showing how deep the hole is. Great video!!!
With all the Genie+ and reservation hubbub, I've avoided going to Disneyland in the past few years. But this reminds me that it's not all lines and hassle... there is still Walt magic
There's still space behind Pixar Pier where they could put Coco if they relocated some backstage buildings. That would make the most sense. Otherwise it could take over the Paradise Garden Grill, which I think needs a refurb anyway as it's a holdover of DCA 1.0.
Measuring on Google Earth Pro, the area behind Pixar Pier where there are currently backstage buildings is 1,300 square feet while the area for the Haunted Mansion show building is 760 square feet. There is ample space behind Pixar Pier for a large E-ticket attraction. Small World show building is 1,000 square feet.
The Flight Lab ride will be able to go from mild to wild and will most likely have an intensity choice by the guest. Best to ride look at for some more understanding of it is Knights Tournament a former ride at Legoland CA.
The Knights Tournament is exactly the ride I thought of, which I loved! I was just going to say the Flight Lab does not look like a kiddie ride! That thing looks like it'll throw you all around, similar to Knights, esp with that restraint system.
@davidculver5446 this is such ridiculous behavior, I wish I could pass it off as immaturity but I know damn well most of you are in your 50s acting like a bunch of children incapable of processing change just like you do with literally everything else. I honestly wish you people would stop going to disney, stop consuming disney content, and stop trying to spread your putrid bile to the rest of the community
@@davidculver5446 If my dad was as influential as Walt, I would love this to help further spread his message to future generations. If we can have Lincoln, why not Walt?
@@davidculver5446 that seems highly speculative. With no real concrete information or proof. Plenty of things happen at Walt Disney world that never happen at Disneyland and vice versa. I can be fairly certain that they will not close the rivers down at Disneyland for a cars ride at least, as DCA has cars land already.
Because WDW has a multitude of sites... Disneyland does not. So is it just a coincidence that splash mountain were removed from both parks. Do you think public sentiment at WDW will not ask, why us and not them. No it will be gone...when it goes, move out Frontier Land.

The Flight Lab does not look like a little kid ride! Like someone else said, it reminds me of the Knights Tournament ride that used to be at Legoland. It would throw you all different ways, so it can definitely get wild and I loved it! And if you look at the restraint system in the concept art, that's definitely not for little kids!
I agree it doesn’t look like a little kid’s ride. It looked like the ride system for the Harry Potter ride which I just couldn’t handle even though I tried it twice. I was wondering if it will offer barf bags like mission space. lol. I am so envious of you guys who can handle these rides. At 76 the mind is willing but the stomach is weak. Enjoy!
@@CarolCap131 Haha they probably should offer barf bags if it does move like I suspect it does! Something definitely changes as you get older.. so I hope I can still hang once that ride comes out!
From my understanding you can still see dr stranges area in the concept art so flight lab shouldn’t be taking over that. From the video Disney posted it looks like flight lab will literally be next to infinity defense. It’s that building illuminated right above the portal opening
Theres a chance walt isnt happening because the disney family does not want it because they want to honor walts wishes of not wanting to have an attraction like this. Would it be cool to get this yeah i think so, but also they have to take walts wishes into consideration
I am sorry, but I am fearful about the Walt animatronic. The chances are too great of them butchering up Walt's memory. If they do it right, it could be great, but who decides what Walt says and does? I so love watching all the film/videos of Walt from His TV show, and other times. But there are so many people who say Walt wanted this or that, or Walt didn't mean for it to be or that. We will never get to meet Walt to know for sure. The closest way to know who and what He wanted and was about about is to watch His videos of Him telling what He planned and wanted. Forgive me for being a wet blanket, but someone needs to speak from the other side.
@@DocNo27 Thank you for that. It's just that over the years, I hear people who don't like things in Disneyland like attractions designed for young like Autopia want to get rid of them because the attractions are not suited for adults. And when you point out that Disneyland was intended for families with young children to spend time together, they will deny that that was what Walt wanted. They complain that there are too many attractions for children. They come across with the attitude that they want the Park to be another version of Magic Mountain. And the powers that be want everything to just be attractions based on Disney movies. And there you have me giving my opinion. Walt had a plan, and the best way to know it is to watch the film recordings of Him talking about the park, and His desires, and how it came to mind like his taking his kids to the park to ride the merry go round, wishing there was a place for parents to take their kids to spend time together. I am just worried that this animatronic of Walt will spoil my memories of Him on TV talking about his plans. I so hope I am incorrect.
I would assume they mostly take old clips of him talking about stuff and put them all together and just and some fluff in-between to make it flow nicely.
Walt has produced hours and hours of inside Disney material. When they first started Disney on ABC television Walt generally gave the introduction and when new rides were being planned they were announced on his show. It would be much better to have it in a film based medium...but the rub is you will then know what Walt wanted direct, no third party, just Walt. So much is being scrubbed from the parks fans would be shocked. Oh ps the family does not want this to go forward as reported on you tube.
The black panels at the rear of the haunted mansion excavation is sheet piles for temporary excavation shoring. Timing really depends on what they are doing/building at the bottom of the excavation. Once they start backfilling that area, it will take at least a good month or more to bring it up to finished grade, plus construction of the ground surface finishes.
As of today 8/13 the walls of the pit @ 18:23 had been filled with cement. They are now working on constructing the cap/roof for the pit. @ 21:22 the tall grey steel pole with the 2x4 s attached to it will be the peak of the gable roof of the shop.
@@SoCalMan13 Correct, that will be the elevator. Just an average size elevator. As for the two doors, one door will lead to the ADA elevator & the other will be for the two rr & breakroom.
That area is far to large and reinforced just for the elevator alone. It is piston driven by compressor. A 10 by 10 cab would be sufficient or even 10 by 20.
@@davidculver5446 Two restrooms, cast member break room, ADA elevator & the electrical room. The elevator pit isn't all that big. Not exactly sure what the size is but it doesn't look all that big. All that reinforcement is needed to carry the weight of the top deck of the queue line.
Correct me if im wrong but isn’t the Stark Flight lab the same model as the Harry potter & the Forbidden Journey? Maybe a similar type of ride experience.
David, you need to check the closed -for- refurbishment list on calendar in the app before giving out wrong information. The Monorail closure started yesterday, the 12th, not next month. And Space Mountain re- opens on Sept 6, not the 5th. It's closed through the 5th. 😊
FreshBaked. David, The day after the night of D23 expo, I feel like I got so drunk with it all I wonder what did I just agree to. I don't know how I feel about a Walt animatronic. I'm reminded of that article in the "Playboy" magazine from long, long ago. Where the author on seeing President Lincoln at the Worlds Fair, wondered if it was right to connect a President up to the equivalent of an outboard motor! Nice to get our weekly construction update as per, I need that fix. Cheers, Chris Perry.
Yes, we should never connect Walt to an outboard motor. I agree. He should be electronically controlled using internal servos and no outboard motors should be involved. They also shouldn’t operate him using steam engines.
Dave I have a picture of Walt Disney taken by my Dad in May of 1957. My family went to Disneyland to celebrate my 6 th birthday. And Walt was driving the train around Disneyland. As we exited the cattle cars,(and it was a cattle car you had to stand the whole time.). My Dad called out to him and he came over to talk to dad. And then when everyone started to notice him dad to a picture and Walt got back in the train. If you are interested in seeing it let me know and I will send it.
Hey David. Thank you for the video! During the critter country portion of your video, you mentioned that there will be no changes to critter country other than the name. I don’t think that’s true. The hungry bear restaurant is being changed. Disneyland's Hungry Bear Restaurant in Critter Country has been renamed Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree and is undergoing a refurbishment and will include an all new menu.
It will be interesting to see if they replace the Disneyland Railroad tracks through Tomorrowland because I expect those tracks to be moved into the park like they did for Galaxy's Edge. When they put the big modern show buildings along the Tomorrowland perimeter they'll want them as close to the property line as possible (just an access road and treeline) and it will be "bad show" and an access obstruction for the trains to run along the backside of the show buildings. Walkways will likely go under the tracks like at Toontown to get into redeveloped Tomorrowland areas where Autopia is now. These tracks may be routed through a tunnel in new "foothills" of Matterhorn built where walkway between Matterhorn and lagoon is now.
I’m surprised about the name change from Critter Country to Bayou Country. It seemed like they were making such an effort to refer to the animals in Tiana’s as “critters.” Between adding animals/critters to Hungry Bear and not understanding how Hungry Bear & Winnie the Pooh are in the bayou, keeping Critter Country made more sense to me.
Awesome work! I first found Freshbaked when you were watching the construction of “Star Wars Land” from the top of parking garage, it was fascinating! Have you ever thought of going back to that location and comparing the views now and then? 😎
Getting chills thinking about the experience of seeing Walt Disney at Disneyland. Was born too late to see him at DL but will be able to right across the street from the firehouse.
@@davidculver5446 Not to mention that most, if not all, of the TV episodes he introduced are available on Disney+. And given how well the animatronics they've been doing lately have been working, it may wind up being more nightmare fuel.
My thought as to why it’s taken them so long to work on the Avengers E-Ticket attraction was because it’s a multiversal attraction that will feature a whole host of the Avengers is because they were waiting for the next two Avengers movies to start production. Much like Mission Breakout and Cosmic Rewind, has footage of the Guardians filmed while they were in production of Guardians Volume 2 and 3 respectively. It’s just easier to do if the actors are together and in costume.
I am super excited to see the Walt Disney show when it opens!! Also my family is taking our vacation in November and already planned to be there on the 15th, which is crazy, so hopefully Tiana's will successfully open that day!

It is a guess, nothing more or less, but I think the new show in the Opera House will open in December. December 5th to be exact - Walt’s 123rd birthday.

BELIEVE ME. ) That has been a place where the axe was poised to strike for a while..... SOOOO. GO to Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, and take EVERYONE. it is important to know!
Walt Disney: A Magical Life... Seeing this will be very emotional... I expect it will be quite popular. I wonder how they'll manage the queues, given the tight space on Main Street. David, it would be great to hear your thoughts on possible queue ideas for this new attraction. Michel
I would just caution anyone before being excited about ANYTHING Disney is "preparing": D23 was literally a broadway musical with a few illustrations and hardly no concrete dates, locations or specifics announced. Their last efforts were a short Tron ride, a 5 year AC unit & Tiana's Breakdown adventure...This is all while "openly acknowledging" they knew about that little building up the street, Epic Universe. And with years ahead for any real results I would just temper expectations.
Probably because most of this was recycled from previous D23's, and none of it is a viable counter to Epic Universe. Disney has been sitting on their butts and it's about to bite them hard.
I will remain open minded about Robo-Walt. The Garner Holt animatronics fall hard into the uncanny valley, but Imagineering does have some impressive advanced prototypes - if they can be made sturdy enough to run all day, day after day. Fingers crossed it's not another fixed expression, static torso, flailing arm manikin that can barely move its lips (I'm looking at you Abe, Capt. Jack, Tiana)
@@WindowtotheMagicThere are 43 muscles in the human face capable of 10,000 different expressions. Servos cannot yet replicate subtle expressions only broad ones. GH's face has a larger range of expressions than most but they don't seem to be capable of the subtlety needed to break out of the uncanny valley.
Decades ago, when I was sixteen and a Disney theme park fanatic, I contacted Garner Holt after seeing a newspaper article about him. He invited me and some friends to come see his studio and he spent time talking to us about the business. He took us in the back where he had this enormous animatronic monster that lunged at us and it was unbelievable, terrifyingly cool. I went on and worked in theme parks and other creative fields and I always took inspiration from how generous Garner was with some kids from San Diego!
Good vid. The Walt Disney 'show' will be an enormous hit. I'm assuming the Lincoln animatronic is being updated also... Hmmm, Train, new HM que, HM gift shop, Tianna's & Bayou Country will open at the same time ?? Bayou Country....means 'Pooh' will be moved and the ride will be given to Tianna's critters. I still think that the Fantasyland theater area will be transformed into 'Pooh-land' eventually. Both would be >HUGE< merch sellers.
Totally agree that Fantasyland Theater is the perfect spot for 100 Acre Woods....dark ride, honey-pot spinner flat ride, and major Pooh retail. Importantly, it would be a needed pathway from the end of Big Thunder Trail (where Skyway was) to near train station and Toontown, by-passing the bottleneck in Fantasyland.
What the heck. This will be my 3rd time at Disneyland next week and this time will not have as much to do. No space mountain, no splash mountain, it’s a bunch of construction.
thanks, dave! amazing coverage, as always. LOVE bringing walt into the park! very exciting as long as they do not put words in his mouth; only use his own statements/speeches please! question: are we sure they won't take out winnie the pooh? i mean, it obviously fits into critter country, but how on earth does it fit into the bayou? such a big chunk of DL will now be PATF themed. don't get me wrong, i love the movie and can't wait for tiana's bayou adventure, but we'll already have that and the restaurant and shop. why do the other shops also have to be changed and the land name changed to make pooh bear seem misplaced? ☹
I think later this year or early next they will announce more on Disneyland 70th. In that announcement I feel like will get info on internal upgrades to haunted mansion(non holiday version) and I think there could be more as well

Thanks friend! Always enjoy these!
Hi David, I’m having a rough day and your video came at the most opportune moment. Thank you for all you do.
Keep your head up. Tough times never last even though sometimes they feel like they will. In time, all rough periods end up being temporary. Sunshine will return soon enough. Even rough days have beauty/lessons in them too.
I am so ready for this!! Looks great!!
Our family will be making a new tradition of saying good morning to Walt (animatronic) as we enter the park to start our day
Yes, that's awesome... same here! 👍🏻😉👍🏻 What a nice, new tradition! 🥰
Creepy but cool
Lol
I love that ! Will do it as well !
@15:45 you can even see the iron gate in between those pillars being constructed. FRESH BAKED!!
Happy Halloween, Everyone!!! 👻👻👻
I’m very excited about the Walt Disney Lincoln thing, because it’s so air conditioned in there it’s a great chill spot when you’re hot and tired, but the Lincoln show kind of creeps me out 😂 so I’m glad Walt is going to be there.
Plus it’ll just be nice to have something of Walt in the park, that’s very exciting
There will still be another perimeter wall behind it with the wall fountain and iron walls
The wall that you call the back wall is the one that runs along the outdoor canopy queue
Much love!❤
I think it would be neat if Walt shared a little history of Disneyland and then segue to introduce Lincoln as one of his favorite creations
Before it was known as “Bear Country”, it was known as “Indian Country”.
It's far more likely that Coco is going in the new Disneyland Forward expansion behind Pixar Place Hotel.
So happy to see this video drop! ❤ Thanks for your hard work, David!
You know about rivers of America?
The Flight Lab ride will be able to go from mild to wild and will most likely have an intensity choice by the guest. Best to ride look at for some more understanding of it is Knights Tournament a former ride at Legoland CA.
The Knights Tournament is exactly the ride I thought of, which I loved! I was just going to say the Flight Lab does not look like a kiddie ride! That thing looks like it'll throw you all around, similar to Knights, esp with that restraint system.
I will cry every time I see Walt Disney show ❤
I hope you are right.
If WALTs family is ok with the animatronic, I guess it’s fine. Hopefully the MALFUNCTIONS are rare.
Would you want your Dad to receive the same, no.
Bob Iger controlling Walt... Cannot and should not happen
They're not, Disney had to resort to a great nephew to go along with it.
Malfunctions? Rare? You're kidding obviously you will have the Disney guarantee every corner will be cut every penny will be pinched. Look at Tiana's

@@davidculver5446 that is for Magic Kingdom, not Disneyland I believe. So I don’t care.
@@nipts what happens there will happen at Disneyland as it is about politics not park attendees. It is a warning.
Great video as always! Have a great week!🔥
Any concerns over river of America closure?

@@davidculver5446 It's just exciting to see new things unfold and see what is coming into Disneyland! ❤️ It's so fun to see the new stuff, but to think what we might see in like, the next month! I'm so excited. Thanks for keeping us updated
Aww well I did ride Space Mountain a little less than 10yrs ago, in my late 20s, and I started to feel sick from it.. and I love rollercoasters & wild rides!
The change from Critter Country to Bayou Country was announced at D23 during the parks panel..
Can confirm.
You are far from a wet blanket - I have zero faith in the current group that is running things to treat Walt with dignity or respect.
@@DocNo27
Thank you for that.
@@lamartya.4042 you are right on the mark. Great comments. Memories should not be damaged by quote progress.
I’m assuming the deeper pit will be the elevator pit. Nice to see the two doors into the Mansion basement on the right as well.

Disney announced a decade of Fresh Baked updates last week.
@@WindowtotheMagic To True. Cheers, Chris Perry
Contact the Walt Disney Museum in San Francisco CA.
They have an extensive archive of all things Walt.
I thought Walt never wanted there to be an audio-animatronic of himself.
TRUTH
You can see the metal gate in between the two cement pillars which can help with orientation for the new queue.
Where do you think the Coco attraction is going to go?
They could use 2x4 stick-built for the gift Shop through the Exit... It makes fast construction. 12:21
The shot of the pit has me so interested to see. Incredible.
Has any land other than Bear Country been renamed so many times? 😂😂😂
A better question is… has ANY land ever been renamed, except the Indian Village (which is what was at Disneyland before they built Bear Country).
I believe the Storybook Circus area at Disney World has gone through four or five name changes over the years.

You never will. I however have ways of contacting Walt himself as a real life Marty McFly.
@@davidculver5446 Not to mention that most, if not all, of the TV episodes he introduced are available on Disney+. And given how well the animatronics they've been doing lately have been working, it may wind up being more nightmare fuel.

They need to put the passing Track back for emergency options. And hook up with a signalling system for red light/green Light signals. 12:21 😊

I like the new hat you've got at D23
I would just caution anyone before being excited about ANYTHING Disney is "preparing":
D23 was literally a broadway musical with a few illustrations and hardly no concrete dates, locations or specifics announced. Their last efforts were a short Tron ride, a 5 year AC unit & Tiana's Breakdown adventure...This is all while "openly acknowledging" they knew about that little building up the street, Epic Universe. And with years ahead for any real results I would just temper expectations.
Your youthful optimism is inspiring.
@@WindowtotheMagic I do my best
Hi fresh bake happy Wednesday
Wall Street did not find changes helpful stock price down 1.5 percent today.
They never do. It’s irrelevant to the creatives.
Probably because most of this was recycled from previous D23's, and none of it is a viable counter to Epic Universe. Disney has been sitting on their butts and it's about to bite them hard.
And when I take over, Wall Street will have no say anymore just like Twitter. Disney will no longer be traded.
If you’re up on Garner Holt, you already know how amazing this Walt AA will be.
@@WindowtotheMagicThere are 43 muscles in the human face capable of 10,000 different expressions. Servos cannot yet replicate subtle expressions only broad ones.

The stark flight lab has the same ride vehicle as Harry potters broom ride at universal I think

thanks, dave! amazing coverage, as always.
