Rode mansion 3 times last Monday night 2 hours before closing. Cast Members were out front soliciting anyone who walked by to ride the attraction. No VQ needed! Counting myself, there were 8 other guests inside the stretching room!
Great sight line on the HM gift shop. You can see how it will block the view of Tianas from in front of the mansion. Thanks as always for the construction vlogs
4:14 David, I believe they regraded the descent into Critter/Bayou Country to make it less steep. Before, the grade seemed to start around Pooh and drop quickly below the tracks. Now, it seems to have been moved back before Pooh, allowing a lower angle, but causing the need for the separation so that Pooh’s entrance is level
I'm beginning to suspect that the closure of the Texas deck on the Mark Twain is just to prevent you from viewing what's behind those walls and scrims! 😂
The new Blue lighting in Space Mountain is AMAZING!!! I know what it takes to program lighting and it looks like they replaced all the lighting with new brighter LEDs and then programmed white bands to whizz by, giving that “whoosh through space” effect. Bravo Disney for “plussing” this effect and other lighting in the ride and queue. Subtle changes but really great improvements overall. The future of Space Mountain is bright!
I'm impressed you went on that ferris wheel. I once went on the swinging gondola version and found it the most terrifying theme park ride ever. I'm fine with the most intense roller coasters at Universal or Disney but the swinging gondola on the ferris wheel was very unnerving.
That is what I was thinking as well, when they opened for the media and all that I think they still had quite a few rooms and such to finish I think the whole thing is suppose to finished by the end of the year.
I love the updates and how you keep us all informed so we can plan our visits. I do think the downgrade in front of Winnie the Pooh was brought up to the level, to go in only because I’ve had to use a wheelchair before, and I was always on a slant to go into the queue, and the below grade planters for the trees, are a great idea they’re just not as pretty.
I’m wondering if the reason why the gift shop is being built in part is to kind of scale down Tiana‘s Bayou adventure and make it look smaller. By having this gift shop wedged in between the Haunted Mansion and Tiana’s, it certainly would accomplish this but also scale down the Haunted Mansion building as well.
The path next to the Haunted Mansion store will be like 40% wider once they remove those walls. They definitely need that store. It's so nice Memento Mori is right next to Haunted Mansion at WDW Magic Kingdom. Haunted Mansion merch absolutely must have its own space. It has a cult following and many people specifically look for Haunted Mansion merch. It's like its own brand. I am excited for this store!
7:03 that might not be the drop into the bayou but rather the turn from the barn lift ("Luis is just up ahead") where we'll now see Luis "searching for band members". I think that wall is hiding the crops and Luis. Going off OLD memory of where that tree is, that's still there, from Splash.
I think the new “security tent” by the hotels is simple, because they have future plans to demo the ESPN ZONE building, and going all out on a solid, final structure would get in the way of whatever those plans entail. And the staging area in Simba is probably for the interminable work still being done to Pixar Place.
@@hotduelist You may very well be right. I've never noticed that area, so just made a bit of an educated guess based on what I know was happening around the resort at that time.

I am pretty confident the tunnel was built simply to help make the first scenes actually dark, as they rely on a night vibe, and I am pretty sure Disneyland's version always had a lot of light leak during the day.
They will soon be getting the Fantasyland Theater ready for the holiday season. This is copied from a Disney Parks post. This holiday season, Santa Claus and select characters will visit and create special memories with guests at the Fantasyland Theatre at Disneyland, which will also feature cookie decorating, craft making, storytelling and atmospheric music throughout the day.
Shame about the train though, liked going on it and was disappointed when I saw it would be closed when I am there next month, but I don't see the train being opened before November, no Halloween decorations was kind of the first clue it was going to be closed longer than most people thought it would be.
I am confident that the new bag-check security tent between Din Tai Fung and the old ESPN Zone is a long-term temporary solution. Notice that they went to the trouble of installing new permanent security perimeter fencing as well. My reasoning is this: the ESPN Zone and the old Rainforest Café building will eventually be demolished. But until that happens, Disney doesn't have any concrete plans of what will replace them. Therefore, Disney can't commit to any one particular style or location for bag check and security. Thus the more-permanent but still temporary nature of the Disneyland Hotel bag check/security checkpoint.
The red trolly garage is in the area where the new avengers ride is going. Huge part of the decision to get rid of it. Construction next to cozy cones, that backstage area looks like it connects to the Dr Strange Sanctum. Maybe that closure is connecred to whatever they are doing there. (Besides disney cutting entertainment) Do the walls go that far? Interesting.
I have a big feeling the area in front of Pooh Ride was lowered so that after hour vehicles can clear under the train trestle better. Least I’m hoping so once that gate is open again
I pray that you'll do a couple of construction updates from a swinging car on Mickeys Funwheel. Last time I saw you film on one of those, it was hilarious 😂
I know. I was down there in July with my nephew, all ready to show him the secrets tips of Disney. I told him to get into line 20 as we were leaving the hotel room and when we got there he asks why did we get in THIS line.
They do have plans for the Fantasyland Theater, just not until the Holiday season after November 15th. They mentioned it in the Holiday season press release, “This holiday season, Santa Claus and select characters will visit and create special memories with guests at the Fantasyland Theatre at Disneyland, which will also feature cookie decorating, craft making, storytelling and atmospheric music throughout the day.”
I bet that fountain is enormously expensive in these hottest days of evaporation. Probably best for water waste as well to reduce its use in these hot days.
Lowering the grade down into the Critter Country/Pooh Corner area is the same thing they did with the bridge over the Splash Mountain turnaround. It has to do with ADA accessibility, and I'm sure the path down to Critter Country is also important because it will eventually be the Disneyland pathway to the Disneyland Forward expansion area across the street.
Ok, a few things. It's unlikely those green buildings behind Avengers Campus are going away because of what they house. The staging you saw at Simba lot is for the construction at the hotel.
I lol'd a bit at the slip up of "roller coaster" for "stroller". Just imagine if you were able to, personally, rent a roller coaster there for hours or an entire day. Even more so, imagine the price!! :O Haha
The mysterious green piping over behind the fence in cars land is typically plumbing waste line (sewer). I’d suspect a bathroom except green pipe is not normally allowed inside a building unless CA plumbing code allows it. If not a bathroom, I’d suspect a maybe water feature.
I'm pretty sure Disney intends the Haunted Mansion gift shop to cause congestion and cramping at the exit of the attraction--thus forcing guests to "exit through the gift shop".
That area behind the cozy cones across from Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters was an area with a bunch of tables and seats. The only thing I can think of is maybe they're expanding or doing upgrades to that area
there were no tables or seats in the area behind those walls. it was just landscaped space behind what looked like the kind of railing you'd see alongside a road.
I’m guessing the walkway work near Luigi’s is to possible re-align the walkway closer to the Cozy Cone and away from where the new Avengers rides will be. In other words, when you’re in Avengers Campus, looking towards Cars Land, they may be moving that walkway (and even the gateway) to your right to make more room behind the E-ticket building (where the Red Trolley barn is currently located).
David, could that construction project behind the Cozy Cones be new restrooms? Seems like a good place for restrooms once Avengers additions drives a ton of additional foot traffic that way.
Hey, it looks to me like that project over by Luigi’s is a new bathroom building. It looks like they are grading a building pad and installing utilities. Dave, you think that is a good location for an additional bathroom back there?
Yes, that fountain is nice to look at in DCA, but just as you were saying that, you could easily see how yellowed the tiles are. They definitely should clean it up. Couldn't imagine it would take more than a few days to accomplish.
If they shut the Railroad down for the length of time it would take to replace all of the track at one time it would be down for over two years. The current plan was to be for three weeks to replace a section of the track then a three month period of normal operations and then three weeks of work and the original plans was estimated to be about three years of that schedule but now they are doing much better than thought and the timeline is now closer to three years, that's IF (and we all know how those if things are on schedules) there are no major problems with weather or unforseen damage that would have to be repaired first.
@@horsepower711 GREAT INFO!! Do you know when they replaced the tracts since Disneyland Opened? Seems like the tracks would last 100 years. Each track is a very think piece of steal. I don't know much about Trains, but I do love riding the Disneyland Railroad.
I think that security checkpoint at the hotel is a permanent temporary structure. There’s zero chance now that they leave that old ESPN building sitting as-is and it’s too purpose-built to be anything other than what it is. So I’m guessing it’s going to be the next building to get demo’d. They’re not going to do a permanent run entrance like the other one until that building gets removed and replaced.
FreshBaked. David, when Disney start the re-build of the Tiger scene I hope they also do something to fix "Schweitzer Falls." It's supposed to be a curtain of water. I for one am sick of looking at the backside of thin air. Cheers, Chris Perry.
Curious, if the Red Car Trolley is part of the 1920’s that Disney is walking away from in DCA, then is the Carthay destined for re-theming? I think that the Red Car Trolley completes the asthetic that makes the 1920’s Carthay relavent. If Disney will scrap park icons(like rivers of america at MK for a Cars attraction), then IP is going to win out. Frontierland is not long in the tooth, scraping live entertainment at the Horseshoe is the beginning.

I love your content and appreciate the effort you put into your videos! Just a small note regarding how you pronounce the year-saying 'twenty twenty-four' is actually more in line with how we've historically referred to years. For example, 100 years ago, people said 'nineteen twenty-four,' not 'one thousand nine hundred twenty-four.' Consistency in this regard helps with clarity and keeps us in line with how we'll likely continue to say the years in the future, like 'twenty-one twenty-four.' Keep up the great work!
I feel like they need to EXPAND the tree planters, or do some kind of grated flooring around them. Tree roots need oxygen, don’t suffocate them with concrete!!!
21:42 I know the Cozy Cone Motel construction was to install a new canopy over the seating/dining area but there is a new permit related stating “Electrical to support DCA. Cozy Cone work site” filed on Sept 9. It could be related, maybe even pre-construction work for the Avengers expansion? This seems very infrastructure type construction and is located near avengers construction. Other than that, maybe still a mystery.

28:08 its to match the color scheme of Disneyland hotel
Why do they close the texas deck? crowd level lows or uh?
That downtown Disney entrance is temporary
Maybe maybe not. it has been that way for a long long time hell when ESPN zone was open it was like that
I feel like they need to EXPAND the tree planters, or do some kind of grated flooring around them.
Is there much of a difference between the week of November 14th vrs December 14th?
Should we expect more people?
Is it too cold for Newport Beach?
TIA
It would be great if they closed Jungle Cruise and then surprised us all by keeping it closed and then reopening it as Jingle Cruise
