I’m 71 and still working. And as long as I want to stay in my house I’ll have to continue to work. Money from my house is my retirement so I’ll have to find an affordable apartment, life in my son’s basement or move to Bali. 😆

I'm pushing 80 working & plenty of other oldies are working in CA 2 survive. No everyone has family money, retirements, stable incomes like so many in CA and must work! But the stress is getting 2 me & having lived in my younger years in Bali, I know the feeling Linda has with community support. In the US, one is expected 2 do everything & one of the reasons we have so much homeless in America! In Indonesia, you can get help & you don't need big $.

I'm in the same boat. Master's in clinical social work. I'm paying $2050 for rent. My soc sec is less than Mom here. I had money and savings, but my ex took care of that! Broke except for work. Had to find a new job, took 8 months of rejections... to find the job I have. I could do them all easily. Good w IT, type 70 wpm recognized constantly for exceeding goals and performance requestions. I should have stayed single. Thanks to my ex., all my hard work and savings went by the wayside. Have worked in 4 countries on my own. Have been alone since my "D", and thus have no headaches.

God Bless you, I am 87 and also live a completely stress free life having moved from my homeland in Scotland to an Island off Spain. The Baleares. I have been here many years now but am close to my children and have the most wonderful life time . Picking oranges from my own trees in the garden and being active . I still have a driving ,license and look after myself, also speak Spanish and when walking my dogs talk to many local villagers . A most wonderful decision to start again.
Good luck to you in the future, I know you'll be fine.

Being financially secure I’m looking for somewhere where I can go to live in peace and get away from this political nonsense and high cost-of-living that doesn’t make sense to me anymore. I haven’t done this sooner because of my grandchildren that are here with me, but I need to live the rest of my life for me. I love your story and it takes a lot to do what you did. You’re definitely an inspiration. What part of Bali are you in. I like you, am looking for safety and also good hospitals although I don’t go to them. I want one there when I need it. Keep it up. Come to Greece! The weather is beautiful, the people are friendly, and you can live comfortably with $1200/mo. I live 5 miles away from the Athens International airport. My rent for one bedroom is $650/mo, and includes everything - Internet, water, electric, etc. The supermarket is on the next block, pharmacy at the corner, cardiologist, dentist right across from me. The same with cafes, bakeries, restaurants, etc. I'm here two years. I'm 75 yrs. old. My children and grandchildren are in the US. They can come and visit anytime they like. I was living a very poor, exhausted life in the US. I worked there till three years ago, and could not make ends meet. Before you go to Bali, come and check Greece.

Couldn't be more honest. She was in debt. Nothing in the bank. Now she has a savings account because she is living below her means.

Saw this video and couldn't comment, I've been hearing about Bali for years now. I turn 66 next year and I'm sick of Arizona (from So Cal too expensive). I'm debt free which is a plus, I miss the beaches/ocean etc. Thought about the Philippines or Thailand but Bali appeals to me more. Thank you for this video!

Try each of them for at least 2-3 weeks at a time to see if you like the vibe. Can't stress that enough to quasi-live in those places first. While you are testing them, go onto FB Expat Groups...you can type in Bali Expats, Thailand Expats, etc.

Health care is a big obstacle, especially if you have a "condition." Fortunately at this moment I don't. But being away from your brother or me from my son and grandchildren is a challenge, for sure. 🥰

Do your homework. Create a budget. And whatever country you choose try inserting the word “ex pat” into facebook search engine. Then you’ll have a better idea of the country. For example Bali has dozens of facebook groups

I think you did the right thing . Our friend at 82 lives there , also near his daughter . I like your chats , but would suggest just rambling on without having the typed breaks . If your daughter is filming and wants to remind you what to talk about , she can join in and prompt you . We loved the one prompt which is what made me think of it .

I'm so happy for the both of you! What you've both done is not easy. Takes a lot of courage, and sense of adventure. I moved to the Philippines 5 years ago, and then last year my mom came out to visit for 30 days. She was supposed to come out again this year but before she could do that she suddenly felt unwell and passed away. She was healthy but as you get older you become more and more fragile. Anyway, thanks to both of you for posting this nice video...
