Shifter Raise & Intercooler Upgrade - Ford Fiesta ST180 Track Race Car

- In this episode on the Fiesta ST180 Track car build series we make a mount to raise the gear shifter up by around 3 inches to move it closer the centre of the steering wheel for an easier reach gearchange! We also upgrade the damaged stock intercooler for a 'full height' one to aide the cooling of the turbocharge.

I'd get some form of mesh behind those holes. Last thing you want is a small stone or something flying through and smashing something. And for the pennies it will cost, its peace of mind.

Looks great Dan I actually like those holes on the front bumper but as mentioned on here I would fit some mesh behind them, hope it's not to noisy in there now it's stripped out 😂 Look forward to the next instalment 👍
I actually do quite like them too! Yeah some black mesh is being ordered to put over the holes. It is a little noisy in there but it isn’t a daily driver and it makes it feel more #racecar 😂

You can usually tell if an ST180 has been mapped by the rev limit, most maps will increase the rev limit to 7000 +, stock I believe is only 6500.
Can't believe nobody has mentioned the Mallard green Escort RS Cosworth.....what a stunning car.
Ahh sweet, I will nip out for another drive (any excuse 😂) dude, the Cosworth is insanely clean. Got a video coming out in a couple of weeks with it in.

If you want better flow to the intercooler and radiator i would grind/dremel off the black material behind the front grill, it covers I think upto 40% of flow to the front, time consuming for a little job but worth it, I have a very similar 3/4 height intercooler like yours from vudu, I'm running stage 2pro and I've had no problems what so ever, keep up the good content.
That is on my list to do dude. Seen people use a multitool to cut them back. Need to dig mine out of storage 🤦🏼♂️sweet, will be going stage 2 at some point 👌

Why don’t you remove the front spotlights & run the vents to the front brakes for cooling?

I am loving this little fiesta project! The Golf is a massive project and having worked on it solid for around 6 months it has exhausted me. I have now had about 6 or so months off and will probably do something too it soon.
Wait no headlights removed for the bumper removal. Also what intercooler brand did you go for?

Also if I’m right, I think they have a overboost feature to increase too 200bhp in 4,5&6th gear

Are you going to use the front fog area for brake cooling? I would utilise that to try and keep brake temperatures down. 👌👍

Be aware with brake ducts
They could cool the discs too much and, when it rains, spray water and what not over them.
Take the fogs out and leave it.
I don't think, you're going to come close to a brake fade any time soon, since they are big enough for that car.
Don't modify for the sake of modifying alone.

Problem with Hermes isn’t the company it’s the muppets they employ. Except me. I’m a good courier. I know what it’s like delivering to rural rounds. If you’ve not done that address before. It’s like blind leading the blind. If it’s taken that long chances are it’s in process of going back to sender. After 3 “failed” attempts that’s when driver gets paid their 65p. So if it’s miles out they won’t even attempt. And “business closed” is the only choice that doesn’t require a photo.
