I think you're the only one who has covered the story of the this game. Anyone who has played this game knows how covoluting and scattered the story can get, but you did such a great job of covering the entire plot and everyhting in less than 15 mins! One thing I would like to add is that the deadsuit does mention she likes animals and birds somewhere in the story; this is something that Charlie likes as well. p.s. The soundtracks slap HARD. Makes you feel things.
Really glad I stumbled on this video as I’ve been obsessed with this game. Only one complaint I have is how much of the game and story you can miss if you don’t talk to everyone or visits certain places at the right time. For example I found Charlie’s ship but didn’t talk to pasha as much so the plot of me being her sister kinda went over my head. Also watching your video there’s tons of things I never got to do like talking to the ghost lady w/ the pebble, fighting the bounty hunter or even finding mabus shop in the elevator. Overall the art and soundtrack and gameplay makes this game a 9/10 for me.
My personal headcanon is that the Deadsuits were made by Jezicoe and their scientists long, long ago. I believe as an early model of the bodies that Jezicoe eventually split into. That's why it can house a soul/ghost. It is also why Construct can just switch the suit off at will - Construct already has the command codes for the suit. Sigmund does not recognize it either due to actual forgetfulness, not having worked personally on that particular model, or 'damage' from the Cutting Machine. Part of that headcanon is that none of the Deadsuits could actually hold a full soul. Not a problem for Jezicoe's plan, but since Jezicoe's soul was split and possibly later trimmed to fit into the various bodies, well, that's why Sigmund and Construct behave differently and have different goals. They are bits of a whole, not a whole. That's also why Blue/Charley doesn't remember everything - she only managed to get most of herself into the suit. Enough to help her friends and family, but not enough to remember herself. Two additional bits I found interesting - all the ship AIs, not just Gambler, seem to identify you as a ship. I find that interesting (though it might just be because the suit 'carries' a soul like a ship carries its crew). The other is that Blue occasionally will talk to herself, I think usually after continuing the game. And some of that conversation can get interesting - talking about talking to herself, being alone, birds, some really random stuff.
@@Spectralanomaly6 yeah I knew HK from gamepass and since then I've been trying to play every metroidvania or roguelite that comes out on gamepass, it's a pretty good game even better if you set your build for a playstyle you like, like melee for example
I actually think it's a huge let down. Just finished and i don't think ill ever play through again. the story "idea" is not bad but its terribly executed. The characters and dialog are basic level, this was a huge missed opportunity ...game play wise, the controls are kinda stiff and the hit detection / sponge damage really does take away from the fun. Its beautiful and has great music but thats all smoke and mirrors to hide a pretty average game at best. Not saying you are wrong for liking it but i don't agree that a lot people are missing out on it
@@cgrooney9945 it's been 7 months since I finished it, and I agree that it's boring compared to hollow knight and the stiff controls. The only good thing about it is the art style and the music. But other than that, it's really not that good
There are a few times when she seems to suspect it and I think she probably did realize at the end when the deadsuit apologizes for leaving her for so long.
Thank you so much for making this! I felt like the only person who got the story through my playthrough and trying to explain it to people has been made easier with this to link! Keep up the awesome work.
Excellent explanation, you caught a few things I missed, such as the stalker. However, a few things : What's up with the Borg-like Huttle Drop? The myriad of robot heads? Who or what built it? Why are all these robots attacking you? What were their purpose? This area is probably my favorite in the game. It reminded me a lot of the machine "real world" in the Matrix. But its largely unexplained and strangely none of the NPCs say anything about it. All we know is they were obsessed with _heads_ . I also hope we get an origin story for the Deadsuit. Maybe as DLC?
I hope so, there was also meant to be an overtime mode which was meant to have more lore but I’m not sure whether that is still going to be added or not.
I played this game everyday commuting to work on the train... Missed my stop dam near everyday.. this game is a masterpiece and to find out that this is made by 1 person.. is beautiful.. this game needs more recognition... The fact that I was patient with the dialog and into the story as the character development went on with each NPC.. had me HOOKED!.. I did miss some parts though ie: how contruct and his brother where formed ... that's one of the reasons I found this video... I really hope down the line this gets a proper remake or a remaster to delve further into the story, or even a prequel of previous owners of dead suits.... These videos are needed.. maybe I should start to try to make them myself🤔.. Anywho.. you got my subscription, story very well told. Looking forward to future videos🤙🏾🤙🏾
Awesome explanation and thanks for clearing things up. I never got to speak with Pasha at her crash sight (even though i kept revisiting it to find out what that specific, mysterious area was about 🤔). There's also a questline for a character (not giving names to help with spoilers) who mentions becoming sentient. Said character used to be a pure robot who only knew how to serve its master. Most of the questline takes place in the mountains for those curious about it. Just thought that might tie into the idea of "ghosts" possessing machines.
It's really dumb that a majority of the story is locked behind Saymund. Yet it is entirely possible to miss the dude while you collect the ship parts. I basically didn't meet him until the very end.
Hi thank you for putting all of the pieces together! I really enjoyed the game and i think it has to do with the overall atmosphere, the music, and curiosity of wanting to know why the world is the way it is. I just completed my first playthrough and even after watching your video I still have a yearning to learn more about the lore. What were your overall thoughts on Ghost Song and how long did it take you to explore and piece everything together?
I liked the game overall. The story and world in particular were great, though I do wish the main questline was fleshed out a bit more. Mechanically I thought it could have been better - not being able to fast travel with a ship part felt like it was done solely to slow the player down, the difficulty also didn’t feel particularly well balanced to me I though it was a bit too difficult in the beginning and got way too easy in the second half. I did two play throughs and spent a bit over 20 hours on it (a lot of which was running back through areas to see if I could find any more NPCs). It’s probably not a game I would go back to again but if they do put out the Overtime Mode mentioned in the kickstarter I would play that to see if we get more lore.
We’ll damn, I beat the game and feel like I missed the true story after watching this. I thought I was just tryna get people off the planet safely, lol
Thank you so much for the work you have done! I had guesses, but I could not put the pieces together and get a complete picture, but you helped me with this! A stone fell from my soul. I love games like this or Signalis, really, an amazing find. A story that says a lot, but also keeps everything a secret
Great Work EBW Gaming. I would love to get a spin of game or anime mini series in the same visual style/atmosphere as this game to show of all the interesting - trapped characters on this moon. How they actually lived before, how theyre planets, places look and what they were before.
I am slightly unsure about something you said. You say that Charlie would not have been able to leave with the crew anyway yet souls seem to work in that they need a vessel (a body, usually) to contain them. Would the dead suit not function as a vessel for Charlie’s soul? We know sentient androids exist, and presumably they have souls, so why couldn’t Charlie leave with them if she wasn’t injured
She could have physically left but if she did she would have been consumed by the Gorna of the first world they went to. So when I said she couldn’t leave Lorian it was because she wouldn’t survive doing so. Like you might say someone with a severe nut allergy can’t eat a bag of nuts - they absolutely can, they just can’t survive it.
Cara, acabei de finalizar o game. Tem alguns problemas. Como por exemplo a movimentação. Mas o foco é na arte e em como você mergulha cada vez mais nas profundezas da plataforma e da história. Eu curti.
After beating the game 1: making the secret ending locked behind a jumping nightmare was needlessly annoying 2: the cutscenes are nice but having to go to so many places at so many times makes It messy You can meet the construct early near from where you find the rocket launcher Where it goes nuh uh and shuts down the deadsuit But apart from that. So many characters you can miss and not beung able to track their deaths because most of them look so similar is annoying Except hammer guy That one was easily identifiable
im on my last rocket ship piece and i found this game very underwhelming, i dont know maybe it was the variation of enemies or the lack of challenging bosses. plus the scaling of damage. i have like 60+ gun power and i still felt like im not damaging the lady with a spear that stands between you and the red part.
i never hear anyone mention the actual story of this game maybe they are just dumb or they don't appreciate science fiction either way i thought it was incredible
Sovenmuck is found in Huttle Drop below where you meet Lua (there is a yellow body with branches in its head where she was). Just left of that you drop down to the bottom then go left again and there is a pit. If you shoot the ground at the bottom of the pit you fall into Slovenmuck's chamber.
10 years…and walls of text from the characters instead of what would have been sweet cutscenes?!?! So much to love in this game…but it is hard to appreciate because of all the flaws (being able to move a little faster should not be a pick-up item!).
10 fucking years ? And all that went to nothing, because 90% of the players haven't even finished this game, it's so unfriendly and full of needless WALKING. Even games from 20 years ago had more Quality of life features. I finished it and haven't felt any satisfaction whatsoever. 8/10
Technically more like 3-4 years. After making most of the game in an engine called Stencyl, it became apparent that the engine couldn't handle the size and scope of the game he wanted. Compiling started to take ages and fixing bugs was a nightmare. So the whole project was scrapped and started over in Unity. But because this was his first game, he had to now learn how to make a game in Unity. Lots of ideas were changed from the original, and some content cut as publisher deadline crept closer. Look forward to some free DLC content later this year. :)
