  • If you travel to Raja Ampat, (West Papua, Indonesia) you have to transit through Sorong! We start from the Jefman Airport in Sorong, explore the transportation options, and head to the Swiss-Bel Hotel. We then spend the day exploring Sorong. Highlights are a visit to the night market and going in search of ice cream. Visiting local markets gives us a great sneak peek into the daily lives of what people eat and use. We get to practice learning a language and using a new currency. Markets are one of our favorite places to visit. This episode ends with Cedar and Jonathan walking the streets to find ice cream. Are they successful?

    I've never been in Sorong, but I did spend 6 years of my childhood in Jayapura, Papua. Several times exposed to Malaria, but it was in the late 80's. I have no idea about the recent condition of Papua.
    By the way, it's nice that you added Indonesian subtitles. Not perfect yet, but it's still ok. I just laughed a little at minute 2:50. It said 'penipuan'. 😁
    penipuan = scam
    pemindaian = scan

    • @BagsPackedFamily
      @BagsPackedFamily  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We really like living and traveling through Papua. Growing up here in the 80’s must of been fantastic. It’s so beautiful here. We have a fairly large Raja Ampat playlist coming out including village tours, cooking classes, music, and more. :-) My plan is to post every Wednesday and Sunday. 👍
      Thanks for noticing the Indonesian subtitles! Someone mentioned that it would be helpful for people, so I watched a couple TH-cam videos on how to and them. Clearly, I’m still learning. 🤣

    Ice cream is almost a daily necessity in the hot weather!
    Gopro9 footage looks great. Saw it at the store. Debated for a few months, but went with dji pocket 2 recently.

    • @BagsPackedFamily
      @BagsPackedFamily  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely with the ice cream! 😆
      I also went back and forth about the GoPro. For me, it was getting too difficult to deal with the weight/bulk of the Sony A7iii on a gimbal, while helping Kelly manages the kids as we are traveling. So, I made the hard switch to the GoPro because it's completely pocketable (much like the DJI pocket 2).
      Now that I had it for a couple of months, I do really like it. The only thing I'm considering modifying is something with the audio. I might pick up the Rode Lavalier GO, before our fall vacation, and running the cord to my phone or some sort of third-party recording device. I'd then sink everything in post. What are you using with the DJI?

    • @theglobalpeasant
      @theglobalpeasant 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BagsPackedFamily One reason I went with pocket2 vs original pocket was the improved audio additions, as it has 4 stronger mics. Their addon package also includes a wireless mic/input, but I didn't purchase the addon. We'll see how the audio turns out in the future videos. Some past videos (when I only used my Samsung S9) , you see I have the headphones, which is only for the mic that came with the phone, which I think provided fairly reasonable audio.

    • @BagsPackedFamily
      @BagsPackedFamily  2 ปีที่แล้ว
