Thank you so much for this super helpful video on preparing water for Sulawesi aquariums! 🌊🦐 Your detailed step-by-step guide is fantastic, and the tips on using salty shrimp mix and the Lake Tanganyika buffer are really valuable.
Do you have any recommendations for adjusting the TDS if it fluctuates significantly over time? 🧐🛠
Thanks again for sharing your expertise! Looking forward to more of your informative content! 🌿🎥🙌

thx for the update and comments, the only way to lower tds is through water changes with rodi water, slow increases won't be too much of an issue

I just bought the Tanganyikan Buffer per your recommendation ans am using the rest of my 7.5 salt. My water here is really soft and the buffer is helping immensely!

7.5 can be used with normal mixing with water right now need for co2 or any special recipe?

  • @aKaFlows
    @aKaFlows 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I use the co2 methode, if I let it rest for 2 days it desolves 99% of the salt. Takes a while to get it ready though, this is a good alternative for urgent situations. Thanks for sharing!

Hi. Very interesting. One question? What is in your opinion more important, for the white socks KH PH or EC/TDS ? I mean what do you check more often? Can the cardinals handle some flow in the tank. I have an internal filter (eheim biopower 160 in a 50 liter tank).Do i absolutley need a air pump? Thank you so much.

Gh and kh is more accurate but I use tds and ec more cause it's faster to check

I use a 5l plastic jerrican and co2 method and RO for a 30l cube.
I have a deap substrate so in practice it is only 25l in total. So a 20% water change but it is dripping in for 12h or more (slow and safe no hurry, maybe max 1drip/s).
    So I calculated that for 5L i need 0.75 g sulewasi 8.5 salt.
So I use my fine turn table digital scale that can mesure 0.01g😅.
I had issues with to many elephant snalis that consumed at a higer rate Kh. So i needed to try to keep Kh up.
What i found out were that the exact dosage as above 0.75 for 5l gives 6.8° Kh (that is pretty high!)..
So the 5l recomended solution were with the water change is actually bumping/increasing Kh that is naturally going down in a aqarium.
I gave back to the store 90% of my elephant snails.
And now for the first time I got stability and the sulewasi thrived.
I then got a littel bit bothered that my slim feeding regime and smal colony plus manny plants. My NO3 were always at 10 ppm and i felt that i should be able to have lower..
So a 3 water changes with 2 days apart to dilute the NO3 and lower it wanted it not to 0 but somewere at 5ppm as some for the plants also..
And the 8.5 salt is claming that it makes the perfect sulewasi solution.. So what could be the issue.. Non i guess..😮 and my NO3 goes down..
    Perfect!
    What can go wrong
I got two shrimps that got the white ring of deth (moulting issu)!😢😢
Never had or seen that befefore..
Looked it up and one couse is to high Gh (also known as total hardness)....
So sulewasi 8.5 is having and recomending dosage is nothing that a shrimp can live in! And is NOT making a perfect solution that mimic there natural habitat!
(It ONLY works if you do partial and weekly water changes where TIME has naturaly in the processes in the tank lowered the Kh and Gh. So sulewasi 8.5 is not a idel solution for shrimps and you keept their standard mixing ratio.)
Thanks to the 8.5 salt i also increased the kh and of course the Gh.
I dont meassure Gh but it is naturally more or less always greater than Kh .
I had closer to what sulewasi 8.5 has in its standard solution becouse the water canges that were performed in short amount of time.
6° Kh and just can imagine where the Gh were (!) in the tank.
    Thanks for that sulewasi 8.5!😒
But now i know what max Kh is for the tank (and indirect Gh).😢
And i know that the salt is NOT making any "near-ideal water" as they state on their label!😓
So you stear and adjust with TDS and i adjust with Kh.
As decreasing the salt for example from the recomended 0.75g to 0.45g that will give a lower Kh than the NOT near-ideal water reminerlisiser gives you.😂
    I did not expect that..❤

Hello! Do you ever have issues when using a Sulawesi 7.5 buffer salt and adding Tanganyikan buffer, the Tanganyika buffer wearing off? Im adding new water in the tank at 8.4 PH during water changes and tank PH is at 7.4-7.8 seems like after a few days the Tanganyikan buffer wears off? Not sure why my tank wont maintain 8.0-8.4 PH, seems to creep down continually after water changes. Im really not wanting to do the Sulawesi 8.5 if I can avoid it. Thanks!

    • @RWAquariumPages
      @RWAquariumPages  หลายเดือนก่อน

that's quite interesting, i don't see it dropping, but i do top off every 5-6 days with rodi with a dash of the buffer and the ph seems pretty stable

Can we dissolve salt in water and store in a container for months and use when required
I am a big fan of these shrimps
    Always wanted to keep
    Booked shrimps for 2 months.
    Please need suggestions.

Not too sure what that is, but sounds like a good idea for more bacteria and micro organisms in your eco system. I haven't used that brand myself

When using Tanganyika Buffer, is the pH easily reduced? Do you use it regularly to maintain the ideal PH level?

@@RWAquariumPages The confusing thing is that when using Tanganyika Buffer, my ph can increase to 8.2 but after only 5 to 10 hours, the ph drops to 7.8. I repeated this many times, my KH hardness increased from 2 to 5 but the PH remained unchanged at 7.8
