      Thats a great question. I haven't been there so I'm not 100% too sure. Most rocks will release some content into the water even the so called inert ones I find. From the photos and videos ive seen, they look similar to river rocks, very pretty with algae growing on them

      id measure and mix the salt in a small cup or bucket and pour it into the tank, tehn measure the tds, kh and gh to see the levels and add more or add more rodi water to get a stable level. leave it for a few days and measure again to see if it's stable. thanks for the support and kind words!

    I have a saltwater tank and I am using something called skim breeze from Fauna marin on my skimmer. It is a co2 scrupper. You put it on your skimmer-airline and it filter out the co2 from the air. It buffered my pH from 8 to 8.4. Maybe there is a way to use it in freshwater aswell. Sorry for my bad english. Hello, can you please tell me your measured GH and KH values. I now also use the Tanganyika Buffer and in order to get a pH value of 8.4, I have to dose so much that my KH go above 10. However, GH remains at 7-8. This is really weird. I assume that you also have a high KH value in your tanks due to the buffer. In addition, the Tanganyika buffer increases the TDS value enormously to over 50 ppm. I don't understand how it can be so little for you. Thanks and greetings Stefan

    What you said at 5 minutes: If I understand correctly, you lowered the temp to 25 celcius and you no longer use an air pump to add oxygen to the water?

    • @RWAquariumPages
      @RWAquariumPages  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I lowered the temp to 25c but you won't need to use an oxydator which a few do use, an oxydator is an upside down glass device with a chemical reaction that releases oxygen. You'll still need an air pump or filter of some sort

    I have another question. I hope I'm not annoying you already, but I want to be on the safe side. I use Sulawesi Mineral 8.5 and dissolve it with Co2 over 2 days until the water is crystal clear and then I aerate the water for a day. I then measured and my GH was 7, KH 6, 235 uS and the pH was 7.4. How can it be that it is so low? Am I doing something wrong? Have you ever had this problem?

    • @RWAquariumPages
      @RWAquariumPages  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there, no problem ask away any question, 235 micro Siemens is divide by 2 to get ppm so that sounds about right to be honest. We use ppm in canada which is half of microsiemens

      did you double check the pH? I use a digital controller myself and calibrate it, what type of test kit do you use for your ph? maybe try a different test kit, kh 6, hmm that should get you in the 8.xxx range, just my first guess, i'll have to dig further into this. @@aedraxis3011

      My pH meter arrived yesterday and after calibration I had exactly pH 8.02. That makes me happy 😁 the JBL High Range test is apparently very inaccurate or unusable. I don't know why it shows such incorrect values.

  • @aqualungs77
    @aqualungs77 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Wouldn't you just top off with RO? Wouldn't evaporation leave all the minerals in the water and ph rise a little, then top off with RO would drop the ph back to normal?
    Also is it safe for the Yellow Cheeks to go down to 78 degrees? And can they survive either Sulawesi 7.5 and Tanganyikan combo buffering to 8.4?
    I recently have done this in my white Sox tank and they are super happy!!

    • @RWAquariumPages
