  • Today in part one we will be removing the carburetors on this 50hp Yamaha 4 stroke outboard motor which has a stumble exhibited at all RPM ranges. The Owner having checked ignition already, and the boat being of recent acquisition, its not a bad idea to do a complete workup and inspection of the carbs and make sue everything is functioning properly. The engine model today is a F50TLRB though the process is the same for a range of Yamaha 4 stoke outboards with carbs.
    A demonstration of the stumble will be heard before beginning followed by allowing the engine to cool down before disassembly. Pre-marking of fuel hoses are encouraged if you don't remember where they will return, also returning bolts removed to their original position where possible. The top cover of the engine is popped off after fuel hose removal. Any bolts that cant be reinserted are stored in a ziplock bag with removed hose clamps.

    Keeping in mind the gas filter and Oil dip stick will be an obstruction, they will be removed from the engine to remove the carbs. The breather hose is held on by a small cable tie. many small cable ties are used as hose clamps throughout this project. The throttle linkage unlocks from the locking tab to disconnect it from the bottom carb.
    Ive opted to disconnect the cold start valves from their connectors and not from the back of the engine as a matter of preference. I did pre-label the cables though so it went back to the same position. This was followed by the silencer mounting bolts. and then the carb-inner manifold bolts.
    The carb is then negotiated out of the engine manifold with the silencer box and away from the engine. All ports are sealed with clean paper towels. The bag of bolts and clips are stored in the engine cavity and the cover is closed until installation will occur.
    Onto Carb disassembly......

    Great video. Love sound effects and no music.

      Background music has its place.... but it should be in the background about -12db in stretches of really quiet portions of video.

    Awesome video. Really liked the step-by-step approach. Really like the management scheme for fasteners and cable marking. Top notch video... also really liked your no bs approach... just a thorough information dump. Currently overhauling the 4 carbs on my F100 TLRZ (which is from 2001). Spent a lot of the day dealing with sized screws :(

    Excellent videos! So helpful! Mine has an acclerator pump at the top and theres a hose from carb 1 that routes next to you but not connected... also a port on the pump for air intake I think not connected... do you know if thats proper? I'm unable to provide a link or my email on here as it won't post my comment... but the one diagram I could find of the pump doesnt show where hose connects or if it does.

    I’ve got a leak coming from the back side of the carbs so I can’t really tell where it’s coming from I can tell that it’s def dripping from the back of the “#2” carb onto “#3” but I’m not sure whether this is a float/ needle not seating issue or a leaky fuel line on the #2. Do these carbs leak if the bowl overfills? From float not operating properly?

    • @willferrell2266
      @willferrell2266 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also if o pump up the ball o can hear it hiss and see fuel drip down onto #3 does this sound like a ruptured fuel line?

    • @delorean1
      @delorean1  ปีที่แล้ว

      If the float gets stuck the pump will keep pushing fuel into the carb at a high rate, it will find a way out.

    • @delorean1
      @delorean1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Doesnt sound normal.
