  • Get a Yamaha carburetor rebuild kit for your B90TLRX: bit.ly/B90TLRX-carb-kit
We’ll show you how to clean the carburetor on your Yamaha outboard in this video from Boats.net. In this video, we’re working with a 1999 Yamaha B90TLRX, so we’re actually working with three carburetors.
See how to remove the carburetor bank on your B90TLRX. We’ll disconnect each of the three carburetors from their separate linkages and electrical connections so that we can get it on the bench. Then, we’ll use a Yamaha outboard carburetor repair kit to replace the parts we need. The kit serves one carburetor, so you’ll need three kits for all three carbs. We’ll clean the jets, inspect the pilot screw, replace the gasket, and then get the carb back together again. Then, we’ll show you how to connect the carburetors together again and re-install the carbs on your Yamaha outboard.
Check out the B90TLRX carburetor diagram here: www.boats.net/catalog/yamaha/...
Read how to do this job step by step: www.boats.net/blog/yamaha/90h...

Greetings from northen Sweden and a fellow mechanic. Video reminds me of a guy in the shop that did what you did now, only it was 4 carburators. He took it apart and mounted it back on the engine, walked back in the shop to get the key and right there on the bench is one jet and a float... Need I tell you it was a friday afternoon.

I agree with the comments about checking the float height. Great video but you should not have to press down on the float tang to fit the needle and if someone follows this procedure on older carbs with adjustable float height - then their fuelling will be out across the rev range. You also should balance the carbs against the master carb after cleaning.

I have a 1994 Yamaha 2 stroke 70hp engine I rebuilt all 3 carbs and replaced the cdi unit and spark plugs after that I took it out on a fresh water lake and at first it was hard to start, the engine idled fine but when I gave it the throttle it bogged down and shut off I restarted and gave it throttle again as I was taking off it bogged down again, i backed off the throttle then thrust the throttle back and forth until I finally got it past that point of speed but the engine could only push the boat to reach speeds up to 34 mph where before I could go 55 mph plus on my small whaler! It still boggs down everytime I take off? What could be the reason it is running rough like this and not smooth? Could I have possibly bought faulty plugs or do I have a fuel problem?

What would.cause the engine to just die after running for 10 or 15 minutes we let off the throttle to slow down the engine cuts off ,want start again you have to wait about an hour or so and it will fire up again , then the same thing happens

  • @kim8839

I have a Yamaha 90 with carb problem "C90TLRZ". Carb is leaking out of one of the vent holes on top of carb while motor is running. I checked the 'needle and seat' which has no pits. Do you have any ideas of the problem? I'm thinking it maybe a heavy 'float' which maybe flooding the carb. Fuel is also leaking out of the passage of the throat of Carb.

    • @kim8839
      @kim8839 ปีที่แล้ว

I solved my problem, everyone said it was the needle/seat in the carburetor which it could have been. Ordered new needle/seat and float. Well it turned out the new float weighed in at 176 grains, old float weighed in at 425 grains. Changed the float only and problem solved.

    Hi
I have 1999 75 hp TLRX model with set of carbs the same like the 90 hp from video.
I’m trying to buy carb kit according to parts manual from boats.net going by serial number and it shows completely different set of carbs.
Do I have wrong set of carbs installed?
    Engine is original.
Did Yamaha produced 75 hp with 2 different set of carbs for that year?
Anyone has 1999 75 hp TLRX with set of carbs from 90hp?
    Thanks everyone

That's not a vacuum line at 4:20 & 19:55, that's actually the fuel enrichment line that sends raw fuel behind the #2 reed valve assembly at startup. Great video otherwise. Very informative.
