  • I shot this during my last visit to La Masia this past November. This not the academy u8's but the 'Escola' u8s. The Escola (school) is the level just below the academy. These are players who are being considered for the academy. I have to admit, I was impressed with the technical level of these 6 and 7 year olds. Despite their age they were incredibly composed on the ball and, at times, surprisingly creative. In particular, watch the the taller, blonde-haired player on the blue team. I would not be surprised to see him called up the academy sooner rather than later. We will, for sure, follow up on our next visit to La Masia.
    DESCRIPTION: 6 players divided into two teams (red and blue) and one neutral player (yellow). Two grids: one grid approx 15 x 15 yards with a smaller grid approx 5 x 5 yards in the center. Each team earns a point when they are able to successfully complete a pass that travels through the smaller grid to a teammate.

    What’s the point of the Yellow player? Because of the uneven numbers or do they need to play to/from yellow player to score?

    • @YPTusa
      @YPTusa  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The yellow player is 'neutral'. Yes, there are uneven numbers so he is always on the the team that has possession.

    What are the cones in the middle for u think ?

    • @YPTusa
      @YPTusa  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jack, the players have to pass through the cones in the middle, to a teammate, for a point. If you know your numbers in Spanish you can hear the coach call out the score every time a point is earned. It is a great exercise to help young players spread out and not 'bunch' around the ball.

      @@YPTusa Hey, i very much liked the video and will most defenitly use this in one of my own trainings. But i was wondering 2 things. 1 The smaller 5 by 5 yards grid does not look like a sqaure, more like a kind of rectuangle, or is this just beacuse of the angle?
      2 i see players sometimes receiving the ball while they are in the smaller grid, does this count as a point? Beacuse technically the ball did not went thru the area, it just was in it.
      I really hope you still answer after 3 years haha!
      Thanks!
