TMP 75 Teleprompter Review

  • In this video, I review the new teleprompter from Glide Gear, the TMP 75. amzn.to/2zwfebF (AD) It's similar to Glide Gear's TMP-WB Solo, which has been discontinued, but it doesn't have the exact same features.
    Glide Gear TMP 75 Specs:
    1. All Metal Construction / Rail Size 189 mm / 7.4" / Glass Size 126mm x 138mm 5 x 5.4" / Weight 900g 2lbs
    2. Fits all smartphones
    3. For shooting with DSLR & Prompting with Smartphone
    4. No assembly required / Collapsible teleprompter for small footprint and easy transport
    5. Industry standard beam split glass with 70/30 visible light transmission.
    6. It comes with a case!
Teleprompters are great for two things:
    1. Being able to read your script while recording (and looking at the camera), and
    2. Being able to look someone in the eye on a video conference call and have it look like you're looking them in the eye.
    TMP 75 Teleprompter Review
How to Use Glide Gear TMP 75 teleprompter on an internal webcam:
    1. Hook the teleprompter brackets over your monitor, lining it up with the camera at the center,
    2. Pull up your teleprompting app on your phone with your script
    3. Place your phone in front
    4. Start recording and run your teleprompter app.
How to Use Glide Gear TMP 75 on an external webcam or DSLR:
It comes with 15-mm rails that you can screw in and attach your camera to. If it's just a webcam sitting on top of your monitor, it may not work as well. You're definitely going to need these 15-mm rails and a tripod if you're going to use a DSLR or external webcam.
How to Use Glide Gear TMP 75 for Video Conferencing:
Why use a teleprompter during a video call?
I work with coaches, and coaches need to connect with their clients. On an ordinary video call, you would be looking at the other person's face on your monitor, and on their end, you would be looking downwards, not at them.
You can achieve this using a teleprompter and an app called Duet Display.
    1. Mount your webcam on the 15-mm rails.
    2. Set it up on your tripod.
    3. Connect your iPhone to your computer/laptop
    4. Open Duet Display. The app will run on your phone and your computer. It basically acts as a second monitor.
    5. Drag your Zoom/Skype video from your computer monitor to your phone.
    6. Place your phone in front of your teleprompter.
    7. Now you can see the other person directly in front of the lens of the webcam!

Thank you very much for taking the time to put this video together. It helped me make my decision. I was in the market for an affordable teleprompter that I could use in my online classes. I came here to watch the review for the TMP 75 and ended buying the Caddie Buddy.

Instead of using a webcam as a camera, could you use an iPhone as your camera for this setup? I am concerned about blocking out the light from the back camera of the iPhone lens. I would also have a Rode Go 2 wireless mic setup to connect to the iPhone.

Not sure it it has been mentioned, but on Winderz, if using an iPhone (not sure about Android), you can use xDisplay to extend a second monitor via USB. Works great. I use it for video conference all the time. People always ask how I can constantly keep looking at the webcam.

I really agonized over this decision. I don't think I ever had so much uncertainty over which item to purchase. I started out ready to buy the Parrot Teleprompter. I really didn't want the Caddy Buddy. It cost $50 more for a case, and the build quality didn't seem quite as good as the Glide Gear. But, I wanted to be able to use an iPad. I just thought that was a better way to go. In the end, I thought that the Caddy Buddy was the best overall, so I purchased the Caddy Buddy. THANKS for your great videos and recommendations.

Brighton West Video Thanks! The caddy buddy looks good for recording videos, but it doesn’t look like it’s for Zoom calls. Just to be clear, is the Glide Gear the only remaining solution for using a teleprompter during a Zoom call?

    • @brightonwestvideo
      @brightonwestvideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@DarrinBell The Caddie Buddy is great for Zoom calls! I use it all day long. It works best when talking to one other person. Having multiple people on screen they get really small (but they would be smaller on the TMP 75.) Check out this setup: th-cam.com/video/i_GGhZWHYoA/w-d-xo.html. For Zoom only (without needing to read text,) you could probably find a cheaper external monitor or even use an iPad with Sidecar (if your computer and iPad are new) or Duet (if either one is older.) th-cam.com/video/LDqyYMYb8X8/w-d-xo.html

Great videos thank you for this. It's still not a solution for someone who doesn't have a smartphone and it's a lot of expense and jerri-rigging. It seems there should be a much simpler teleprompter solution for using a mounted Logitek 920 webcam on top of computer and using the computer monitor screen as teleprompter while still being able to look directly into the webcam lens. The GlideGear seemed ideal but it is no longer available anywhere so it looks like I am out of luck until I either purchase a Smartphone or they come up with something similar to the Glidegear TMP-WB Solo. Keep a lookout for these Mr. Brighton and keep up the great work.

Curious if you know the difference between the TMP 75 and TMP 100? From Amazon reviews the 100 fixes the issues with the teleprompter getting in the view of the camera, but I don’t understand how it works with a internal webcam. Advice on which model to get would be appreciated. Thanks

    • @brightonwestvideo
      @brightonwestvideo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The 100 and the 75 are very different. I don’t think it’s possible to use the 100 with an internal webcam - so you’d need an external webcam.
I prefer the separate setup as I have it to the side of my computer at all times. I don’t need to put it on and then remove it from my screen when not in use.
BTW, I like the Caddie Buddy teleprompter more than the tmp100. It’s more flexible.

Not a bad question at all. You do not need a teleprompter. You can just use your laptop with it's built in webcam. The problem is that if you look at your client, they don't see you looking into their eyes, so it's a bit disconnecting. The teleprompter allows you to show their video directly in front of the camera - so when you look into their eyes, they see you looking into their eyes - not at their chin.
