- They call them “water villages” or “kampung air” in Malay, but I call them “fantasy floating villages” because they remind me of fantastical cultures of people that live completely off of the ocean. But these people are real, and there’s more than 50,000 of them in Malaysia, with an estimated 10,000 water houses built on stilts over the water.
So of course, while we rode across the island of Borneo on our KTM 250 Adventure motorcycle, we had to check one out, and see how the people there actually live. And it’s like stepping into a video game world that’s straight out of someone’s imagination…

If you have some candy, sweets, chocolate or some simple gifts like miniature soft toys or keychains etc, you can give to these little children whenever you come across them during your trip around the globe. It means the world to them and they may keep your gifts for decades. It feels great to do good.

In gaya island near kk, the chief minister wants to develope gaya island further, so the refugees and locals will be moved to a decent place. This will solve 2 issues.

In the next segment there are no gas stations and the distance is too long for one tank alone! But hopefully the spare gas we bring will be enough to get us to our next destination!

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - KBRI Dhaka, Bangladesh, memperkirakan sedikitnya 300 tenaga kerja wanita (TKW) menikah dengan pekerja migran Bangladesh.
Dubes RI di Dhaka, Zet Mirzal Zainuddin di sela Pertemuan Konsultatif ke-4 Menteri Negara-negara Pengirim Pekerja Migran se-Asia (Colombo Process, CP) 19-21 April 2011 di Dhaka, Bangladesh, Kamis, mengatakan sejauh ini hubungan mereka dengan keluarga suami baik-baik saja.
"Saya belum pernah mendengar mereka menghadapi masalah dengan suami maupun dengan keluarga barunya," kata Zet.
Secara total, dia memperkirakan terdapat sekitar 500 WNI yang menikah dengan warga Bangladesh dan bermukim di negara itu.
Mengenai wanita TKI yang menikah dengan pekerja migran Bangladesh, Zet menyatakan sebagian besar mereka sebelumnya bekerja di Malaysia, lainnya bertemu di Hong Kong dan negara tujuan penempatan lain di Asia Pasifik dan Timur Tengah.
Dalam berbagai kesempatan pertemuan keluarga Indonesia di Kedubes di Dhaka, Zet selalu mengundang semua WNI, termasuk mantan wanita TKI tersebut.
Dia juga selalu meminta mereka hadir lengkap dengan keluarganya (suami dan anak) agar saling mengenal.
Kepada suami (warga Bangladesh), Zet selalu mengingatkan bahwa dia adalah orangtua dari wanita TKI.
"Jika mereka menghadapi masalah dalam mengarungi rumah tangga hendaknya mengingat keberadaan saya sebagai orang tua," kata Zet.
Hubungan asmara yang berlanjut ke jenjang rumah tangga tidak bisa dipungkiri acap terjadi diantara sesama pekerja migran. Di Malaysia dan Hong Kong di mana TKI relatif lebih leluasa keluar rumah memungkin mereka bertemu dan bersosialisasi.
Zet juga mengungkapkan, terakhir dia menghadiri pernikahan WNI dengan pria Bangladesh setelah bertemu melalui jejaring sosial Face Book. "Wanitanya berasal dari Dumai," kata Zet.(*)
