That is why it owns the name of Little Maldive. I know you guys are from the place far from the ocean but i bet you guys love South East Asia so much, i suggest both of you take the 3 days PADI Open Water course either in KK or Semporna for its affordable price compare to elsewhere. Take that opportunity when you come back at the end of the year for the Borneo road trip. Islands off Semporna are one of the best diving spots in the world especially Sipadan (required Advance Water). It truly a different level of experience. Please do yourself a favour. Im sure you guys will come back often. You will love it.
We will absolutely look into that. I know we wouldn't regret it. We will be back in this part of the world every year for the foreseeable future, it would be a shame not to see what lay just beneath the surface!
@2UpAndOverloaded a lot of vlogs on sipadan and mabul and seaventure dive rig. However mabul island itself (on land), is not clean unfortunately. Because refugees or sea gypsies live there. Stateless.
As a north Borneo person, i would like to say thank you for visiting our country specially in samporna,...how ever,if you guys want to come again next time,be careful of salt water crocodile 🐊, there is a new cases that person are victimize by crocodile in samporna. Take care and i enjoy to watch your channel.

Not just military. Actually its much safer after the federal govt formed the Eastern Sabah Security Command. It's a more comprehensive and coordinated effort in ensuring security along the maritime border. Sort of a combined task force of various govt agencies.

Next time, go to Sipadan Island and scuba dive there. It's one of the most beautiful diving sites in the world. And the island has a unique shape like a mushroom and has deep walls
As a Malaysian, I have heard about the beauty of Semporna for decades and even read about it being rated in the top 10 beautiful beaches in the world but today thanks to two Americans adventurers, I was teleport there from my house sofa 🛋️ and regarding your lunch on the boat, I was almost certain they will serve you 🐟🐠🐡🎣🎏 (Tim’s nightmare) since it’s abundant over there. Thanks for the video.
Yup.. nice place and quite expensive for us..btw the guys is probably a bajau people - sea gypsy - the lung is bigger than the us and some can dive about 20 min
Magnificent snorkel trip! I used to drive a snorkel boat taking tourists to beautiful places and showing them the underwater beauty. Don't feel bad about not holding your breath very long and/or not being able to dive down. Fins (flippers) make a tremendous difference. As you can see in the video, without fins you use a huge amount of energy trying to dive with very little progress. With fins you use little energy and move through the water like a seal. Without fins kicking your legs dos nothing except burn up oxygen. Of course when you are diving every day your lung capacity increases so your time under water is much, much longer. I could easily go 2 minutes and 3 minutes was near my limit. Now, I don't know if I could hold my breath for 30 seconds. I would feel completely safe there with a group and the military in the area on the watch. Traveling without the group would be much more risky, and traveling on your own, at night, to more distant and remote islands would be very dangerous and in my mind, stupid. Be wise and avoid potential problem areas like you do makes things much safer in a dangerous world. Love every video!
if the flight tickets to Sabah and Sarawak are way cheaper than now i would've travelled regularly there and enjoy my holiday my escapade within Malaysia instead of travelling outside the country..i have a fond memory of Sabah and Sarawak as a Peninsulan..the people,the food, the scenery,the culture and many more...

Malaysia particulary the state of Sabah is generally safe except for few insances of kidnapping but since ESCOM (east coast security command) some years back the instances were very much reduced or never happaned. However always cautious is good as anywhare people go incense
Great video, managed to catch the magic and thanks for helping surfacing the truth. To all those hypocrite western countries issuing travel warnings - have a trip at night to your cities' train stations to get some perspective.
While snorkelling underwater in many parts of Semporna and if both of you do come across any sharks 🦈 Marisa would panic but not Tim as Tim can tell the sharks that he is 100% fish friendly as he does not eat them. Tim can negotiate with our friendly Malaysian predator fishes. 😂 😜 😜
That must have been terrifying. Not only could your snorkel tour operators have suddenly dropped the eco-tour act and busted out the rum, the dead man's chest and hoisted the Jolly Roger, but there is nothing creepier than the grotesque shapes of a pristine coral reef and its vicious clown fish and salt water piranha. I'll stay safe like the state depratment told me, and stay home and play with Robert my pet guppy thank you.

That is why people must earn credits at mabul, and the dive rig to go to sipadan (the military controlled island).

Since the Malaysian military took control of this region, pirate activities have been successfully eradicated, and it is safer now.
Not completely. Have to be vigilant. In April, they shot our marine in the eye. So he is blinded 1 eye. Midnight time is when they come.
It is definitely a much safer area now. And all tourism stops well before the sun goes down.
