  • A latex disaster waiting to happen...
Unexpected Goodwill find. (They blend in well with the decorative figures. lol)
Released in 2001 along with a bluebird version, a dove, and a male with female cardinal duo.
Plays "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" and makes chirping sounds.
Besides the rip on its beak, it's in great condition.
Yes the heads are made of a latex rubber which I'm sure you can tell what happens when it gets very old.. 💀
The battery compartment has a bit of corrosion inside, I figured at first it wasn't going to work but it ended up functioning lol!
    nothing else was wrong thankfully.
I'm also not sure why but the Christmas birds in particulars mouths don't really move all the way unlike the year round versions.

They weren't joking claiming that it's realistically animated, this is pretty nice. Being made of Latex Rubber though - NOT built to last.
I can see why this would be hard to spot on a shelf full of normal decorative figurines, because it looks just like one until you look at it more closely.
I'm also glad to see the "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" song getting some love, that's one of the most forgotten Christmas songs IMO.

Yeah the latex is sad as heck.
When they made the very first batches of these, the latex was even more thin than these Christmas ones are. The second generation batches (and all the Christmas ones) updated the rubber to be thicker, and possibly is a type of PVC. (Which are what singing fish use but it's way more thick.)
I do own one of the very first batch birds, the latex is completely solid, and missing chucks! People have painted the heads on these after the leftover rubber was all destroyed, they look decent when done right and well, not perfect but hey, it's better than a white head entirely. (And probably fun to do) lol
That song is underused/underrated as heck, I think this is legit my first item I've found that plays it...
I've only known there's like a handful of animatronics in general that have it.
For Gemmy, I can only think of four. (And one's a UK exclusive.)
